Following repair, screw position was assessed with CT. Case records, radiographic and CT images were reviewed. Follow‐up information was obtained from referring veterinarians, race records and owner/trainers.Ten fractures were confined to the dorsal cortex and subchondral bone. One fracture extended the full dorsoplantar depth of the bone. One fracture was confined to the subchondral bone centrally. Screw repair was planned using CT, to cross the fracture, or to position as close as possible while avoiding penetration of the articular surface. Surgery was performed under radiographic control, and subsequent CT examination confirmed screw placement as planned. Fractures healed radiographically in all 10 imaged cases. All horses were sound at follow‐up examination. One horse was retired to stud after surgery. Eleven horses returned to full training and 10 raced.The case outcomes reported are only relevant to similar populations of Thoroughbred racehorses. The lack of a cohort of control horses limits conclusions that can be drawn relating to the contribution of this surgery to case management.CT planned repair of short incomplete sagittal fractures of the proximal phalanx, with screws positioned according to fracture location, can be reliably performed and is associated with good outcomes. Introduction: This study investigated the role of proactive semantic interference (frPSI) in predicting the progression of amnestic Mild Cognitive Impairment (aMCI) to dementia, taking into account various cognitive and biological factors. Methods: The research involved 89 older adults with aMCI who underwent baseline assessments, including amyloid PET and MRI scans, and were followed longitudinally over a period ranging from 12 to 55 months (average 26.05 months). Results: The findings revealed that more than 30% of the participants diagnosed with aMCI progressed to dementia during the observation period. Using Cox Proportional Hazards modeling and adjusting for demographic factors, global cognitive function, hippocampal volume, and amyloid positivity, two distinct aspects of frPSI were identified as significant predictors of a faster decline to dementia. These aspects were fewer correct responses on a frPSI trial and a higher number of semantic intrusion errors on the same trial, with 29.5% and 31.6 % increases in the likelihood of more rapid progression to dementia, respectively. Discussion: These findings after adjustment for demographic and biological markers of Alzheimer's Disease, suggest that assessing frPSI may offer valuable insights into the risk of dementia progression in individuals with aMCI. In this study, 285 middle school students in the United States were surveyed to obtain their preferences regarding anti-bullying intervention strategies. Participants rated their preferences for 15 common anti-bullying intervention strategies involving teachers, students, and non-teaching staff. The strategies were generated based on a review of the literature. Overall, students rated seven of the 15 strategies as being "sometimes" or "almost always" helpful. Participants tended to prefer intervention strategies in which teachers effectively managed their classrooms, thereby deterring bullying, as well as providing direct assistance to students. The results were also suggestive of students desiring teachers to be proactive in helping them solve bully-victim conflicts. Students tended not to prefer strategies that involved non-teaching staff. The article is a short introduction to the life-long gift-practice of Erasmus—the gifts he received, the gifts he gave, and the symbolic and moral meaning of the gift cycle of reception, gratitude, and reciprocation that pertained to a wide range of exchanges—from small objects to casks of wine to large gifts of money. His book dedications also belonged to that same gift cycle. His management of gifts was driven in part by necessity, as he needed funds and sometimes protection in order to pursue his studies and writing outside the normal framework of institutional structures.
