ABSTRACT Objective: This study aimed to investigate the frequency of sexual dysfunction and the effect of short-term testosterone replacement therapy on sexual functions in congenital hypogonadism patients. Furthermore, we sought to reveal the consistency of the self-report scales used for the diagnosis of sexual dysfunction and the relationship between biochemical parameters. Materials and methods: The study was conducted on 47 young male patients aged above 18 years who were diagnosed with hypogonadotropic hypogonadism. Short (IIEF-5) and long (IIEF-15) forms of the International Index of Erectile Function and Arizona Sexual Experiences Scale (ASEX) were applied before treatment under the supervision of a physician. The patients’ blood pressure, height, and weight were measured, and their luteinizing hormone (LH), FSH, and total testosterone levels were recorded. Patients who started their treatments were called for a follow-up checkup after 6 months. Their blood pressure, height, and weight were measured by reapplying the ASEX, IIEF-5, and IIEF-15. In addition, their LH, FSH, and total testosterone levels in the biochemical tests were rerecorded. Results: In this study, the sexual dysfunction status of patients diagnosed with hypogonadotropic hypogonadism before and after treatment was evaluated using the ASEX, IIEF-15, and IIEF-5 scales. A decrease in sexual dysfunction was observed in all three scales after treatment compared with that before treatment. The IIEF-5 and IIEF-15 scales were found to be uncorrelated in terms of the pretreatment values but were correlated in terms of the post-treatment values. Although a correlation was observed between ASEX and IIEF-5 before treatment, no correlation was detected between ASEX and IIEF-15. After the treatment, ASEX was found to be correlated with both IIEF-5 and IIEF-15. The results of the scales indicated the correlation in all categories, except the pretreatment results of the IIEF-15 scale. Conclusion: The results of the current study demonstrated a significant improvement in the sexual function of hypogonadism patients undergoing short-term testosterone therapy. The ASEX, IIEF-5, and IIEF-15 scales used in the diagnosis and follow-up of sexual dysfunction were useful for evaluating sexual functions in hypogonadotropic hypogonadism patients.

The aim of this study is to develop a valid and reliable instrument to measure the performance of schools in relation to corporate social responsibility based on teachers' perceptions. To this end, content and construct validity and reliability studies were conducted with the participation of 521 teachers from four different study groups. As part of the related studies, a comprehensive literature review on the phenomenon was conducted and the theoretical structure was revealed through open-ended questions to the first study group of thirty teachers. An item pool was then created in accordance with the existing scope and the type of scale was determined. Eight experts were consulted for the item pool and the item pool was finalised and a draft scale form consisting of thirty-one items was produced. The draft scale, with the addition of the administration instructions, was administered to the second study group, a group of forty teachers, and thus the pre-application was realised. The scale that emerged after the pre-test was applied to a total of 451 teachers from two different study groups for exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses, and validity and reliability analyses were conducted on the data obtained from the study groups. These analyses showed that the total variance explained by the nine-item, one-factor structure that emerged from EFA was 81.8%, and the construct validity of the scale was supported by confirming the emerging structure with CFA. Reliability analyses revealed that Cronbach's [alpha] and McDonald's [omega] values were 0.975 and 0.976 respectively, and these values, which were quite high, proved that the scale was a reliable scale. As a result, a valid and reliable scale capable of measuring teachers' perceptions of the CSR performance of the schools where they work has been introduced to the literature.

In every culture and era, education is considered the most fundamental reality and rule that societies prioritize and deem essential. Throughout the process spanning thousands of years, from the emergence of writing to the present day, education has undergone various forms and formats of change. Education has been a continuous guide for shaping, influencing, sustaining societies, and maintaining its dynamics throughout these historical processes. The continuous evolution and growth of education systems and formats worldwide, with changes affecting the quality of education, have the potential to influence nations and societies in every field, ultimately leading to the emergence of an informed society, achievable only through quality education. In this study, the aim is to determine the factors affecting students' academic performance and predict students' end-of-term academic grades using machine learning algorithms within the scope of Earned Value Management (EVM). Such studies have great potential to increase efficiency in education, improve student achievement and improve education policies. With the use of machine learning algorithms, these goals can be achieved more quickly and efficiently. Five different machine learning algorithms, namely RF, KA, KNN, SVM, and NB, have been employed in the study. Binary and multiclass classification methods were used in prediction processes, and among these methods, the Random Forest (RF) algorithm achieved the highest success prediction rates of 0.97 and 0.93, respectively, in both classification methods.

This study aims to prepare a scale to determine the creativity levels of prospective teachers studying at the undergraduate level of science teaching. In this context, 15 questions, suitable for student's level from physics, chemistry, biology, astronomy and ecology sub-branches were prepared. The questions were assessed by 5 lecturers who were experts in their fields for their opinions. After the expert opinion, the number of questions was determined as 13 and pilot study was carried out with 95 pre-service teachers studying in Inonu University Faculty of Education Science Teacher Education. The data obtained from the pilot study were analyzed by using SPSS 21.0 statistical program according to Multi Surface Rasch Model. In order to determine the reliability of the scale, internal consistency coefficient of Cronbach's alpha was calculated and found 0.758. At the end of the research, the data was analyzed and the question number of the scale was determined as 10 according to the analysis results. Studies conducted on scientific creativity generally aimed to measure the scientific creativity of secondary school students. We believe that a deficiency in measuring the scientific creativity of undergraduate students at the academic level will be eliminated with the scale we developed.

Abstract Background The aim of this study was to obtain quantitative data about the frequency, genotypic characterization and antibiotic resistance profiling of Salmonella agents in chicken flocks located in eastern Turkey. Results Feces samples representing at least 20% of the flock area were collected via sock swabs from commercial poultry flocks in the study region in addition to internal organs (liver, spleen, intestine) collected at necropsy of suspected chickens belonging to small family enterprises. The samples were analyzed by conventional bacteriological methods (ISO 6579:2002/A1:2007) for isolation, and genus specific (invA) PCR for the identification of Salmonella spp. Then, two mPCR were set up to determine Salmonella serotypes and genotypic resistance status of the field isolates against ampicillin, tetracycline, trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole and chloramphenicol antibiotics. In the PCR analysis of the suspected colonies, 98.5% were confirmed as Salmonella spp., and, the most prevalent serotype was identified as S. Infantis with the proportion of 26.6% (17/64), followed by S. Enteritidis with 21.9% (14/64) and S. Typhimurium with 9.4% (6/64). The findings related to antibiotic resistance genes revealed that the most frequently determined gene was sul1 with approximately 58%, while the blaTEM gene was detected at the lowest proportion with 20%, among Salmonella isolates. Conclusions The results indicated that Salmonella infections constitute a potential risk for chicken flocks in the country and that genotypic resistance rates against various antibiotics should draw particular attention in terms of both human and animal health.

Digital nerve lacerations are a common type of hand injury and one of the main causes of sensory impairment. The purpose of this study is to investigate the results of surgical treatment of traumatic digital nerve lesions in patients hands. We evaluated 65 patients with digital nerve injury that occurred after digital trauma between 2015 and 2018. The participants hypoesthesia scores on the numerical rating scale were greater than 5/10. Additionally, they felt hypoesthesia distally above the hand injury in their preliminary examinations at the emergency department. We analyzed the injuries of 65 patients (41 males, 24 females; mean age: 36 ± 2 years; age range: 1956 years). Group 1 consisted of 26 patients who did not undergo surgery, whereas Group 2 consisted of 39 patients who underwent surgery. We conducted the SemmesWeinstein monofilament test in Group 1. In total, 9 patients had normal sensations, 12 patients had light touch sensations; and 5 patients had protective sensations. We conducted nerve exploration surgery in Group 2. In total, the 12 patients who underwent this surgery were found to have no pathology in the digital nerve and identified to have neuropraxia. In the other 11 patients, the peripheral nerve was partially lacerated and it was repaired primarily, after performing the nerve exploration surgery on the remaining 16 patients. There wasnt statistically significant difference between the patients who underwent surgery and who did not undergo surgery in terms of hypoesthesia resulting from nerve laceration. The purpose of this study is to understand the extent to which the hotels under the supervision of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism in the center of the Turkish city Kastamonu are fit for the accommodation of the disabled. The author investigated six accommodation facilities located in the center of Kastamonu by utilizing various tools for data collection, including the Survey Method, face-to-face interviews with business managers, and the Drop-off and Pick-up (DOPU) method. Descriptive statistics were utilized to analyze the data. The results indicated that accommodation in these places is far from satisfying the special requirements for the disabled. This study contributes to the literature on barrier-free tourism by providing an original and comprehensive review of the theories, methods, discussion points, and implications of research in this field.

ABSTRACT Background Cardiometabolic risk is high in patients with hypogonadism. Visceral adiposity index (VAI) and triglyceride/high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (TG/HDL-C) ratio are the practical markers of atherosclerosis and insulin resistance and independent predictors of cardiaovascular risk. To date, no study has evaluated VAI levels and TG/HDL-C ratio in hypogonadism. Subjects and methods A total of 112 patients with congenital hypogonadotrophic hypogonadism (CHH) (mean age, 21.7 ± 2.06 years) and 124 healthy subjects (mean age, 21.5 ± 1.27 years) were enrolled. The demographic parameters, VAI, TG/HDL-C ratio, asymmetric dimethylarginine (ADMA), high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP), and homeostatic model assessment of insulin resistance (HOMA-IR) levels were measured for all participants. Results The patients had higher total cholesterol (p = 0.04), waist circumference, triglycerides, insulin, and HOMA-IR levels (p = 0.001 for all) than the healthy subjects. VAI and ADMA and TG/HDL-C levels were also higher in patients than in healthy subjects (p < 0.001 for all). VAI was weakly correlated with ADMA (r = 0.27, p = 0.015), HOMA-IR (r = 0.22, p = 0.006), hs-CRP (r = 0.19, p = 0.04), and total testosterone (r = −0.21, p = 0.009) levels, whereas TG/HDL-C ratio was weakly correlated weakly with ADMA (r = 0.30, p = 0.003), HOMA-IR (r = 0.22, p = 0.006), and total testosterone (r = −0.16, p = 0.03) levels. Neither VAI nor TG/HDL-C ratio determined ADMA, HOMA-IR, and hs-CRP levels. Conclusions The results of this study demonstrate that patients with hypogonadism have elevated VAI and TG/HDL-C ratio. These values are significantly correlated with the surrogate markers of endothelial dysfunction, inflammation, and insulin resistance. However, the predictive roles of VAI and TG/HDL-C ratio are not significant. Prospective follow-up studies are warranted to clarify the role of VAI and TG/HDL-C ratio in predicting cardiometabolic risk in patients with hypogonadism.

The main scope of the study is to investigate the relationships between English study habits, extrinsic and intrinsic motivation, utilitarian value of English, attitudes toward English, self-reported verbal abilities, personality traits, English skills (reading, writing, speaking, and listening), and English grades. A total of 210 Turkish students take part in this study (123 females and 87 males, the mean age of participants was M = 20.91). The main results can be summarized as follows. Intrinsic motivation, attitudes toward English, and verbal abilities were in positive correlations with study habits and English grades. English study habits were in a positive relationship with English grades and all the self-reported English skills. Extrinsic motivation and neuroticism were in negative correlations with participants' English skills and grades. Extraversion, agreeableness and consciousness were in positive relationships with English skills and grades while neuroticism was in negative correlations with these variables. Openness to experience had statistically significant relationships with writing and listening skills only. There were no statistically significant gender differences in the studies variables (except in the case of the utilitarian value of English, where females' estimates were greater than those of males. In this study, it was aimed to examine the effects of inquiry-based activities supported by web 2.0 tools on the attitudes of students towards the chemistry lesson in the unit of 'Acids, Bases and Salts' in the 10th grade chemistry lesson. Considering the relevant achievements in the 2018 chemistry curriculum and using the web 2.0 tools Padlet and Quizizz, the activities prepared were implemented, and the "Chemistry Lesson Attitude Scale", which was adapted into Turkish by Senocak, was used as a data collection tool. The study, which was carried out with a quasiexperimental design with pretest-posttest control group, was carried out in the second term of the 2021-2022 academic year, in a high school in the Germencik district of Aydin, with a total of 51 students, one experimental (n=26) and one control (n=25) group. In the seven-week study, while the experimental group and the web 2.0 tools Padlet and Quizizz were used, the lessons were taught according to the current curriculum in the control group. As a result of the research, no significant difference was reached in the attitudes of the students towards the chemistry course. When the sub-dimensions of the chemistry attitude scale were examined, a significant difference was determined in favor of the pretest only in the "evaluative beliefs about school chemistry" of the control group.

Supervision is an essential part of school counsellor education training, particularly during internship and practicum experiences, as it plays a crucial role in assisting counsellor trainees in adapting to their new roles and identities. While essential to the profession, supervision literature lacks comparison studies across countries, leaving a significant gap in our understanding of whether, and to what extent, supervision is being effectively practised cross-nationally. In the current study, authors utilized a multisite analytic approach as a form of case study method to investigate similarities and differences in counsellor educators' school counselling supervision practices in the US and Türkiye. The study sample included a total of four counsellor education programmes, consisting of two programmes from each country. The results indicated that while counsellor educators in the US pay more attention to crisis management, suicide assessment, feedback acceptance, multicultural issues, school counsellor self-care, and mindfulness, their counterparts in Türkiye focus on creating counselling goals, counselling micro-skills, theories, and techniques. The results also provided further support for an independent counsellor education accreditation body that could oversee the supervision practices across counsellor education programmes in Türkiye for a united counsellor training, supervision, and professional counsellor identity.

School counsellors are the main drivers of change in creating a multicultural environment for all students. This study used structural equation modelling to investigate directional relationships among self-efficacy, self-advocacy and multicultural counselling competence in a sample of school counsellors (N = 306). The data were collected from 306 practising school counsellors in the US. The results suggested that self-advocacy was statistically related to self-efficacy, in turn self-efficacy was associated with multicultural counselling competence. Structural model indicated that self-advocacy had a strong indirect effect on multicultural counselling competence mediated by self-efficacy. Accordingly, the findings implicate that school counsellors could start with smaller and realistic projects in working with diverse school populations as their positive experiences in this area could increase their ability to advocate for multicultural school environments.

In this study, the effect of the Mathematics Bag Early Education Program (MAÇEP) on the mathematics skills (number/counting, geometry, measurement) of 57-69-month-old preschool children was investigated. A quasi-experimental design with a pretest, posttest, follow-up test, and control group were used in the study. The study group consisted of 22 children attending preschool education and their parents. In the study, MACEP was applied to the experimental group in the form of 50 activities for 12 wk outside the preschool education program. Data were collected using the Early Mathematics Test (EMAT) and Parent Focus Group Interview Form. Mann Whitney U Test, Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test, Friedman Test and content analysis were used to analyze the data. At the end of the study, it was determined that MACEP effectively improved the mathematics skills (number/counting, geometry, measurement) of 57-69-month-old children in the experimental group and the retention continued after the experimental period.

Background: There are deficiencies in ensuring the permanence of some theoretical information taught in nursing education and transferring it to practice environment. Mobile-assisted teaching can be useful to eliminate deficiencies. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of mobile-assisted teaching on nursing students' learning ventrogluteal injection. Methodology: The study was conducted in Turkey between February and June 2022. This study is a single group pre-posttest intervention. The study sample consisted of 354 students studying in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th grades in Turkey. After the students completed the Introductory Characteristics Form and Ventrogluteal Region Information Suggestion Form in the pre-test, the researchers sent a ventrogluteal injection animation video to their mobile phones. The students who watched the video completed the Ventrogluteal Region Information Suggestion Form and Mobile Education Activity Form in the final test. Results and Conclusion: There was a statistically significant difference between the pre-posttest score medians of the students (p < 0.001). While the preference of the students for the ventrogluteal region in intramuscular injection was 28.5% before mobile learning, it increased to 51.1% after the training. In this study, after the training given through mobile learning, the knowledge level of the students about ventrogluteal injection and their preferences for ventrogluteal injection increased. In line with these results, mobile-assisted education should be used in nursing education.
