Abstract Background The Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices issued a shared clinical decision-making (SCDM) recommendation for HPV vaccination in persons aged 27–45. Since expanded eligibility for the vaccine was issued, little information has been available about HPV vaccine behaviors and intentions among women in this age group. Methods We conducted a cross-sectional online survey among women aged 27–45 years recruited through a Qualtrics™ respondent panel (N = 324) to answer the following questions (1) What is the prevalence of HPV vaccination among a diverse sample of adult women aged 27–45 years? (2) What are the characteristics of those who have or have not previously been vaccinated? and (3) What factors are associated with the intention to obtain the HPV vaccine among those who had never been vaccinated? Multivariable logistic regression analyses estimated adjusted odds ratios (AORs) and 95% confidence intervals (95% CIs). Results Only 31.1% had at least one dose of the HPV vaccine. In multivariable analyses, those more likely to have been vaccinated were younger and were more likely to believe that the vaccine was effective. Of those unvaccinated or unsure, 54.8% indicated they were likely to get vaccinated in the future. Factors associated with future vaccine intention (compared to those not intending) included beliefs about vaccine testing, perceived likelihood of HPV infection, greater comfort in asking one’s provider for vaccination, and prior negative healthcare experiences. Conclusions Our findings suggest that many women in this age group are interested in HPV vaccination. While the recommendation is for SCDM rather than routine vaccination for all women in this age group, efforts to promote informed decision-making among mid-adult women may include educating women about the rigorous vaccine testing and approval process, their risk factors for HPV infection, and encouraging them to engage in SCDM with their medical providers. Targeted efforts to reach women who have had negative experiences with healthcare may also be needed.

Universities’ role in promoting sustainability and the sustainable development goals (SDGs) is increasingly highlighted in the recent years. The high number of academic papers published in this field stands as proof of the attention received by these subjects. The integration of sustainability in education implies the transmission of principles, values and practices in teaching-learning activities, research and in institutional operations. While studies focus on the type of educational and extracurricular actions that universities may promote in order to develop more sustainability aware students, less attention is devoted to the actual impact of these practices. The Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) approach starts with the assessment of the current state: what is being done in universities and what is the level of sustainability awareness among the main actors, mainly students. Having a concrete picture regarding the students’ level of sustainability literacy, we can identify opportunities to develop new implementation practices that address the sustainability issue within higher education. Currently, there is no consensus over a tool to evaluate the knowledge, attitudes as well as behaviors of students regarding sustainability and the SDGs. Nevertheless, efforts were made in this line of research. Our study focuses on the methodologies to assess these aspects. Based on previously used tools, we developed and tested a questionnaire on Romanian student population. The tested scales for sustainability knowledge, attitudes and behaviors highlight the different pillars of sustainable development, namely: social, economic and environmental, revealing that more focus is given to the latter.

Men aged 27 to 45 are eligible for human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination as of 2019, yet relatively little is known about whether they have received or intend to receive it. We conducted a cross-sectional, online survey among fathers aged 27 to 45 between March and April 2022, to assess associations between HPV vaccination awareness, behaviors, intentions, and psychosocial constructs from the Health Belief Model. We examined the characteristics of those who had (a) heard of the HPV vaccine, (b) already received ≥ 1 dose, and (c) intentions for future vaccination among those who had never been vaccinated. Among 400 men who completed the survey, 32% were not aware of the HPV vaccine. Among those who were aware, 41% had received ≥ 1 dose. Sixty-three percent of unvaccinated men reported that they intended to get vaccinated in the future. Multivariable logistic regression analyses revealed that age and race/ethnicity were associated with having been vaccinated previously. Among the unvaccinated, multivariable logistic regression analyses revealed that those with a higher perceived risk of HPV-associated cancer had 3.73 greater odds of reporting they would seek vaccination compared to those with lower perceived risk (95% confidence interval [CI] = [1.28, 12.3]). We did not find perceived benefits, barriers, or decision self-efficacy to be related to future vaccine intentions. Since recommendations for this group include shared clinical decision-making, public health efforts should focus on raising awareness of vaccine eligibility, emphasizing risk factors for HPV-associated cancers so that individuals have an accurate perception of risk, and encouraging conversation between men and their providers. Introduction: The coronavirus disease of 2019 (COVID-19) outbreak is of particular global concern. All Persian versions of COVID-19 measures assess its intrapsychic aspects, and there is a crucial need to measure the intergroup aspects of this pandemic. Aim: The current study aims to translate the COVID-19 Attitudes and behaviors (ACAB) into Persian and then validate the Persian version of COVID-19 attitudes and behaviors in the Iranian sample. Method: The participants included 250 people selected for accessibility (177 men and 73 women). Results: The ACAB scale had satisfactory reliability and validity according to content, face, and construct validity tests except for the first subscale (social distancing adjustment). Consequently, confirmatory factor analysis protects the ACAB with 12-item and three subscales. Therefore, three subscales remained, including self-prioritization, prosocial behaviors, and belief in conspiracies, and social distancing adjustment was eliminated. Conclusion: Results indicated that the ACAB is a reliable and helpful tool in research, especially for governmental surveys, to understand why people do not cooperate in vaccination or prosocial behaviors. The present study aimed to analyze the extent to which yoga practitioners (n = 784) live by their faith/spirituality and how this influences their perceived prosocial behaviors. For that purpose, the model of transformational spirituality was applied. This model assumes that people who experience the sacred in their lives change their attitudes and behaviors and take responsibility in the world. Data from this cross-sectional anonymous online survey with standardized questionnaires (e.g., Franciscan-Inspired Spirituality Questionnaire, Awe/Gratitude Scale, World Health Organization Five Well-Being Index) showed that for most of the enrolled yoga practitioners, yoga is a conscious way of life and a path of spiritual development. Thus, they search for the Divine in the world, live in accordance with their spiritual convictions, and regard their faith/spiritual convictions as an orientation in their lives. Moreover, they score highly on peaceful attitudes and respectful treatment of others, and on commitment to disadvantaged people and the environment. Although the frequency of asana (postural) or pranayama (breathwork) practices was only marginally related to the indicators of spirituality, the frequency of meditation and studying the philosophical background of yoga was weakly to moderately related to Spiritual Experiences, Awe/Gratitude, and Living by Faith. Respondents' well-being was best predicted by experiential aspects of spirituality, inner congruence/emotional involvement with yoga, and with yoga seen as a spiritual path (R2 = 0.21). Regression analyses (R2 = 0.32) further showed that participants' inner congruence with yoga practices could best be predicted by the experiential aspects of spirituality and, to a lesser extent, by the frequency of asana practices, duration of yoga practice, and Peaceful Attitude/Respectful Treatment. The core dimension of faith and the related experiential aspect of spirituality were thus crucial for the ways the enrolled yoga practitioners behave in the world and interact with others and the environment. Since the emergence of the COVID-19 outbreak in Wuhan, China, the world has undergone drastic changes. The Delta variant has high transmissibility and evades human cellular defenses. Data from the World Health Organization (WHO) recorded over 31.654 million cases and 4 million COVID-19 deaths as of December 2022. Hospitals have faced challenges in patient management and healthcare worker protection. This study discusses the relationship between nurses' knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors regarding the use of personal protective equipment in Indonesian COVID-19 referral hospitals. This study utilized a quantitative analytical observational method with a cross-sectional approach. The research was conducted in four COVID-19 referral hospitals in the Yogyakarta Special Region in Indonesia. This study shows that there is no significant relationship between attitudes and behaviors in the use of PPE; however, a positive correlation exists. Most nurses in COVID-19 isolation wards demonstrate good knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors toward the use of PPE. There is a positive correlation between knowledge and attitudes, as well as nurses' behaviors in using PPE. • Enhancing PPE Compliance: This study suggests that improving knowledge and attitudes among healthcare workers can enhance compliance with proper PPE usage. • Future Research Directions: Future research could explore additional factors influencing PPE compliance and identify specific interventions to promote safe practices during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. • Room for Improvement: Despite generally positive findings, some nurses still exhibit inadequate knowledge and negative attitudes toward PPE usage, indicating the need for ongoing education and support. Vaccine hesitancy has, for a considerable time, been a significant risk to global health. As an integral part of disease prevention, vaccines have become a public health matter which is often debated among the community in spite of proven scientific evidence of their efficiency. A questionnaire was designed to evaluate the perception and knowledge of a population and compare it with behavior in order to assess a demographic within a sample population of 245 individuals selected at random within the United States, Here, we aim to clarify the difference between vaccine opinion among the general public as compared to vaccination status. Chi-squared analysis was done with the categorical data showing a statistically significant result when comparing parents versus non-parents, and Asian/Asian Americans against other ethnicities. All other comparisons were statistically insignificant. When looking at participant responses, PCPs did not discuss vaccines at all with 32% of the sample. Background: The only treatment for celiac disease (CeD) is strict lifelong adherence to a gluten-free diet (GFD). In some individuals the demands of a GFD may contribute to maladaptive eating attitudes and behaviors that impair quality of life (QOL). The Celiac Disease Food Attitudes and Behaviors (CD-FAB) is an easily administered and scored 11-item tool querying potentially maladaptive food attitudes and behaviors resulting from beliefs around gluten exposures and food safety. Objectives: To assess the usefulness of the CD-FAB in establishing the presence of maladaptive food attitudes and behaviors among adults with CeD and to explore the relationship between these attitudes and behaviors and other factors including QOL, anxiety, depression, CeD symptoms and personality traits. Methods: The study is a cross-sectional pilot of 50 adults (mean age 29.6 years) with biopsy-proven CeD who followed a GFD for at least one year and had no self-reported eating disorder diagnosis. High scores on the CD-FAB tool suggest higher disordered eating attitudes and beliefs. Results: Compared to lower scores (mean 20.2), higher (worse) CD-FAB scores (mean 54.5) were positively associated with recency of diagnosis, number of CeD-related gastrointestinal symptoms, and the personality trait of neuroticism. Higher CD-FAB scores were statistically and clinically significantly associated with diminished QOL (p < 0.001). The relationship with anxiety and depression was less clear but trended in the expected direction. Conclusion: The CD-FAB may be a useful tool for dietitians who wish to monitor maladaptive food attitudes and behaviors among their CeD patients, especially in the first-year post-diagnosis. Do men and women exhibit different attitudes and behaviors toward COVID-19 public health measures? Is there a gender gap in support for and compliance with government recommendations during a public health crisis? While the disproportionate effect of the pandemic on women suggests that they would oppose burdensome quarantine measures, theories of gender differences in prosocial and communion attitudes indicate that women should be more likely to conform with public health measures designed to protect the most vulnerable. We test hypotheses about a gender gap in attitudes toward public health recommendations through an original, nationally representative survey implemented in Peru, one of the countries hit hardest by the coronavirus pandemic, and the construction of a representative matched sample that allows us to make comparisons between women and men. We find that women are more likely than men to endorse lockdown measures and to support the continuation of a nationwide quarantine. We also find evidence of a gender gap in compliance with public health recommendations about avoiding crowded areas and social gatherings. Our findings have important policy implications. The GESIS Panel (GP) allows the scientific community to collect survey data free of charge within a probability-based mixed-mode panel. In addition, the GP provides highquality longitudinal data for secondary research. In March 2020, the GP conducted a special survey on the coronavirus outbreak. Since then, the COVID-19 questionnaire module has become an integral part of the GP. In sum, 13 waves were fielded that included questions on COVID-19, e.g., on attitudes, opinions, and behaviors related to the pandemic. Developing psychometrically validated assessment tools to examine social and intergroup processes related to COVID‐19 is fundamental for creating interventions that reduce the spread of this virus. Thus, this manuscript aimed to evaluate the psychometric properties of a new measure, Assessment of COVID‐19 Attitudes and Behaviors (ACAB), that assesses COVID‐19‐related attitudes (e.g., about physical distancing, xenophobia), behaviors (e.g., helping others versus prioritizing own needs), and beliefs (e.g., about others' roles in spreading COVID‐19). We used exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses (EFA, CFA) to provide factor analytic support and Fisher's r‐to‐z transformation to provide construct validity evidence. EFA revealed and CFA confirmed a four‐factor structure of social distancing adjustment, self‐prioritization, prosocial behaviors, and belief in conspiracies. Fisher's r‐to‐z transformation provided evidence for the construct validity of the four factors. The cognitive attitudes and behaviors of medical post-graduates may be influenced by the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. A cross-sectional study was used from a questionnaire survey in hospitals affiliated with the Zhejiang University School of Medicine. Questionnaire was distributed online including demographic information, cognitive attitudes, and personal protective behaviors. Moreover, personal protective behaviors such as wearing protective equipment were compared between different academic major and gender, respectively. A total of 176 valid questionnaires were obtained. Of the medical post-graduates in this study, (1) 89.67% believed that the COVID-19 pandemic had an impact on their clinical internships, and 40.34% expressed concerns about their infection on inadequate personal protection; (2) 91.48% took personal protection in hospital and 86.36% enhanced personal hygiene; (3) There were no statistically differences in the personal protection by academic major and gender (p > 0.05). This study suggests that the COVID-19 pandemic had an impact on the medical post-graduates' clinical practice, and affected their cognitive attitudes and behaviors. As such, universities and hospitals should increase pandemic prevention training and investment, provide more psychological counseling to their medical post-graduates to reduce their psychological burden, and take measures to reduce the influence of the COVID-19 pandemic on their medical post-graduates' clinical practice.

Objective: The vaccine is a solution that stimulates the immune system in order to prevent diseases. This study aimed to investigate the knowledge, attitudes and behaviors of family physicians working in primary care about the vaccine. Methods: The population of this descriptive study consisted of family physicians working in Elazığ provinces and districts. We reached 88.7% of family physicians. A questionnaire including demographic questions, 12 knowledge, 13 attitude and 5 behavior questions was applied to family physicians. The data were evaluated with SPSS 22 program. In statistical evaluations, Chi-square, Mann-Whitney U, Kruskal Wallis and Spearman's correlation tests were used. Statistical significance was set as p<0.05. Results: Of the 165 family physicians participating in the study, 66.7% were male, and the mean age was 40.67 ± 8.85. The correct answer rate of the 13 questions about the knowledge was 7.59 ± 2.17 on average. The flu vaccine, of which 15.8% of the participants had the most hesitation in administration, was the vaccine that 52.6% applied to themselves and their relatives most. There was no significant difference between the correct answers of those with and without children (p> 0.05). The attitude score was higher in married people than singles (p = 0.006) and people with children compared to those without children (p = 0.012). The behavioral score of the 46-55 age group was higher than that of married people (p <0.001), those who had no children (p <0.001), and those who did research (p <0.001). A positive correlation was found between age and attitude (p = 0.02) and behavioral score (p = 0.03). There was no significant difference between the self-administered vaccine status and the number of correct answers (p> 0.05). Conclusions: We determined that family physicians who were primarily responsible for vaccination had misinformation about the vaccine, that the researchers' behavior score was high, and that age and attitude and behavior score were positively related. Growing number of elderly people is making the appetite of both marketers and managers who are interested in tourism. Despite the lack of literacy related to gerontology, elderly consumers are creating a large and profitable market segment with their free time and disposable income. In many countries, including Turkey "elderly" are defined as people consume more and exhibit different attitudes and behaviors from other individuals. Learning these attitudes and behaviors will change the content, presentation, and expectations of the products and services to be presented. As a result of this research conducted to reveal the buying attitudes and behaviors of elderly consumers, it is concluded that the elderly prefer to aging older with their grandchildren / children and secondly they prefer to aging in their own homes/alone. In addition, while the elderly the most spend their grandchildren's needs, they are followed by medical services, clothing, getting gifts to spouse/friend, hot spring holidays and 5-star holidays. In this sense, 5-star hotel managers should make more efforts to stimulate demand and get more shares in the elderly market. Other results of this study; participants did not prefer hot spring or healing water during their holidays, they did not buy the products they see in advertisements, they did not participate in exciting, energetic and fast activities, they did not listen to radio at home and they did not make purchases with credit cards. One of the remarkable results of the study is that there is a significant relationship between demographic factors and the places where elderly individuals want to get old and where they spend. According to this, it is observed that as the education level increases, people tend to aging more in their own homes and people in different age, gender, education and retirement needs help in different subjects. The purpose of this study was to examine relationships between attitudes toward planning for end-of-life (EOL) care and social supports, spirituality, distrust of the US healthcare system, and acculturation; and to investigate a relationship between attitudes and communication of EOL wishes in Iranian-American older adults. A descriptive, cross-sectional study was used. Older adults (N = 135) were surveyed using Qualtrics online software. The participants were new immigrants to the U.S., highly educated, and insured with a generally positive self-reported health status. Of this sample, 47.4% reported that they communicated their EOL wishes orally or through written documentation. Favorable attitudes toward planning were associated with acculturation and healthcare system distrust, and, inversely, were negatively associated with spirituality. No significant association was found between attitudes and social support. Favorable attitudes predicted participants' communication of wishes. The findings can inform the provision of effective interventions to enhance culturally competent EOL care. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objectives: The goal of this study was to establish relationships with Latino churches in South Los Angeles and to collect data from parishioners regarding their access to care, cancer risk factors, and cancer-related knowledge, attitudes and screening.Methods: In 2014, we approached five Latino churches. All allowed us to describe the study and to consent potential respondents at a designated time during the church service.Results: 398 Latino respondents (75% female) completed the survey in English (15%) or Spanish (85%). Most respondents were born in Mexico (63%). Only 56% had health insurance and 51% had a regular doctor. Based on self-reported height and weight, 33% were overweight and 51% were obese. However, only 42% of obese respondents had been told by their doctor that they were obese. Although it is well-established that obesity is a major cancer risk factor, respondents lacked knowledge about the important role of nutrition and exercise in cancer prevention. Among women, adherence to national screening guidelines was 88% for cervical cancer, 72% for breast cancer and 58% for colorectal cancer. However, they were quite willing to undergo cancer screening if recommended by a physician and reported few barriers to colorectal cancer screening.Conclusions: Our data suggest a need to focus on both primary and secondary cancer prevention by promoting healthy lifestyles to curb the obesity epidemic and by promoting colorectal cancer screening. Introduction: Electronic Health Record contains all the information related to the health of citizens, from before birth to death have been consistently over time is electronically stored and will be available without regard to location or time all or part of it to authorized persons. The acceptance of EHR by citizens is important in successful implementation of it. The aim of this study was to determine the attitudes and behaviors related to the introduction of electronic health records among Shiraz university student. Method:The present study is a cross-sectional descriptive survey. The study population consisted of all Shiraz University students. The data gathering tool was a questionnaire and data were analyzed in SPSS v.16 software, using descriptive statistical tests. Also, the samples, i.e. 384 students, were selected through convenient sampling. Results: The results showed that most of the students kept their medical records at home to show them to a specialist and only 15% of them were familiar with the Electronic Health Records term. The use of Electronic Health Records for Maintenance of drug prescriptions was of the most importance. Conclusion: Among the students who are educated class and the source of change, the university students’ familiarity with Electronic Health Records is too low and most of them were not even familiar with its name and it is very important to implement this system familiarize the users on how to use it sufficiently

Objective: To discuss possible ethical and boundary issues when contacting clients through WeChat in different situations. Methods: Self-made questionnaires were utilized to investigate 194 counselors' (18 counselors gave clients their job WeChat ID, 64 counselors gave their private WeChat ID, and 115 counselors do not give WeChat to clients) attitudes and behaviors of encountering multiple relationship issues when using WeChat. Results: For WeChat boundary, counselors who had job WeChat ID would post more private photos and videos on the post than counselors with no job ID and without ID (P<0.01). Although 41% of counselors would use WeChat during the counseling and other related activities, only 10% of the counselors had job ID. Counselors with no ID tended to accept clients breaking the boundaries through other ways (P<0.01). Conclusion: The study indicates that counselors have encountered ethic issues of multiple relationships when using WeChat. Counselors who only have private WeChat ID should increase their sensitivity of the boundary issues in the use of WeChat. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Knowing the attitudes and beliefs of midwifery students toward breast cancer and breast self-examination (BSE) practice may reduce breast cancer-related deaths by increasing breast cancer awareness. This study was conducted to examine the attitudes and beliefs of midwifery students toward breast cancer and the BSE practice. The study was conducted with 160 midwifery students at Istanbul University as a descriptive, cross-sectional study. Data were collected by a part of Champion's Health Belief Model Scale and a self-administered questionnaire. The descriptive characteristics were given as frequencies and percentages. The evaluation was done with Kruskal-Wallis test, a non-parametric test. It has been observed 70.0 % among midwifery students have knowledge of breast cancer. 90.0 % of midwifery students know about BSE, however only 14.4 % among them practice BSE regularly every month. The benefit, barrier and confidence sub-dimension scores were positively associated with BSE practice regularity (p ≤ 0.05). It has been determined that more than half of midwifery students have knowledge about breast cancer and BSE, and that only a fraction of those with knowledge about BSE practice BSE regularly every month. The perceived seriousness of breast cancer and knowledge about breast cancer affect the ability of individuals to perform BSE, initiating BSE and continuing to practice BSE for early diagnosis of breast cancer. Edutainment is a communication strategy to influence attitudes and behaviors through the use of the media. Through the children’s play “Yael Learns to Take Care of Her Body,” designed for joint viewing by children aged 5–8 and their parents, sexual abuse is raised. This qualitative study findings indicate that parents from low socioeconomic subgroups from the secular sector reported that their awareness had been raised by viewing the play and that they received tools for holding a conversation. Conversely, parents from high socioeconomic subgroups in the secular sector and parents from the national-religious sector were more ambivalent regarding the play’s effectiveness. In order to make the conversation meaningful, the play has to tailor different messages to different audiences. A single program is not enough but should be part of a series of customized intervention programs for different subpopulations and separate programs for parents and children accompanied by professionals. Objectives: Patients' spiritual values, beliefs, and preferences are identified in outpatient medical settings by the taking of a screening spiritual history (SSH). We report the impact of an educational/training program on the attitudes/practices of physicians (MDs) and midlevel practitioners (MLPs).Methods: A convenience sample of 1082 MDs or MLPs in outpatient practices was approached to participate in a 12-month educational/training program in this single-group experimental study. Of the 1082 professionals, 48% (427 physicians, 93 MLPs) agreed to complete a questionnaire assessing demographics, practice characteristics, religiosity, and attitudes/practices regarding the SSH. Changes in attitudes/practices over time were examined and baseline predictors identified using mixed-effects regression.Results: Of the 520 participants completing questionnaires at baseline, 436 were assessed at 1 month (83.8%) and 432 were assessed at 12 months (83.1%). The belief that MDs should take a SSH did not significantly change over time (B = -0.022, standard error [SE] 0.028, P = 0.426). However, those who took an SSH often/always increased from 16.7% at baseline to 34.8% at 12-month follow-up (B = 0.328, SE 0.030, P < 0.0001), and perceived patient acceptance/appreciation increased from 72.1% to 80.5% (B = 0.074, SE 0.023, P = 0.001). Predictors of increased SSH taking across time among MDs were older age, female sex, family medicine specialty, prior training, and importance of religion; older age was the only predictor in MLPs.Conclusions: Although attitudes toward taking an SSH were not affected, taking an SSH increased initially and was sustained over time, as did the sense that patients accepted/appreciated this practice. The closer and further economic environment has an important impact on the organization and functioning of a household. The impact results from a relationship, which occurs between the most important institutions and economic sectors and a household as a management entity, all resulting from the mutual service offering process. Therefore, the global crisis causing certain repercussions in the economic and social realm influenced the functioning of households, which, in turn was reflected both in their attitudes towards the crisis and taking adjustment efforts. The aim of this publication is to present results of original research carried out on a representative sample of households from Zachodniopomorskie region, about their attitudes and behavior towards the crisis relating to functioning of household in the economic realm, including consumption and situation in the area of work and psychosocial sphere.

Background: Poor oral health remains a significant dental public health challenge for ethnic minority and immigrant groups living in the UK. This study aimed to evaluate a culturally appropriate community-based home visiting oral health education intervention for Chinese, undocumented migrant mothers to promote their infants’ oral health, by focusing on their oral health related knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors. Methods: A convenience sample of 36 Chinese mothers with babies aged less than eight weeks were recruited in South-East region of Belfast. The local Chinese community was consulted to assist with the development of the intervention. The oral health education intervention was provided to 19 intervention group mothers through home visits and telephone calls during mothers’ first postpartum year. They were also provided with unlimited social support during the intervention period. Mothers’ oral health related knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors regarding baby toothbrushing and sugar snacking were measured at eight weeks, six months, and 12 months. Results: A higher proportion of Chinese intervention group mothers had improved knowledge about baby toothbrushing at 12 months compared with control group mothers (χ2 = 14.12: p = 0.004). Significantly, more intervention group mothers’ oral health related attitudes were enhanced regarding baby toothbrushing and sugar snacking compared with control group mothers. Conclusion: This community-based oral health education intervention has shown effects in mothers’ self-reported knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors in the intervention group when the community based and culturally appropriate home-visiting program improved the mothers’ oral health related knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors.

Does studying economics have an effect on molding the values and attitudes embodying the trust-building processes of a democratic society? Mainstream economics teaching, based on the self-interest model of rational, maximizing, individualistic “representative agent”, may well cause indoctrinating effects, creating or reinforcing political free-marketeering, as well as selfishness values, attitudes, and behaviors among economics students. In this paper a contribution is made for these discussions, based on the results of a survey performed in Portugal in three years (2006, 2009, and 2012) addressed to a considerably diverse sample of respondents (economics students, other students, and common citizens). This exploratory investigation examines the influence of race, gender, and prior sexual victimization on attitudes and behaviors related to date rape from a large sample of college students (n = 3,084) in the United States. The results of this study indicate that gender was a salient factor, with males more likely to subscribe to undesirable attitudes toward date rape and to engage in behaviors that increase the risk of both men and women perpetrating date rape. Findings also indicate that racial differences exist in that black students were less likely to subscribe to undesirable attitudes and to engage in sexual behaviors that increase the risk of perpetrating date rape than were white students. Finally, the analyses found previous sexual victimization experiences unexpectedlyincreasedundesirable attitudes toward and behaviors associated with date rape. Purpose: The purpose of our cross-sectional study was to examine the association between sociodemographic, knowledge, attitude and behavior factors with colon cancer screening among low-income Hispanic patients from an urban family medicine clinic in San Antonio, Texas. Methods: Using random stratified sampling, 804 patients were surveyed with 274 Hispanic patients meet the eligibility criteria for colon cancer screening (aged ≥50 years). A 10-page self-administered questionnaire in Spanish or English completed in the clinic waiting room included self-reported colonoscopy, sociodemographic characteristics, health status, knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors toward colon cancer screening. Associations between colonoscopy and patient characteristics were assessed using logistic regression. Results: 62% of patients reported having been tested for colonoscopy. Older Hispanics (age mean=59 ± 6.1 SD) were more likely to have a colonoscopy than younger Hispanics (age mean=56 ± 4.8 SD) (P<.001). Bivariate analysis showed that patients who discussed colon cancer risk with their doctor (P=.001), did not smoke (P= .004), or encouraged family members or friends to be tested for colon cancer (P<.001) were more likely to be screened. Multiple variable logistic regression analysis showed that older age, having cancer, discussing the risk factors with their doctor, and encouraging family members or friends to get tested were significant predictors for colonoscopy testing in Hispanics. Conclusions: Colonoscopy screening in a sample of low-income Hispanic patients differed by age and health experience. Intervention programs that increase colon cancer screening in Hispanics patients should concentrate on those aged <60. In recent years, the focus of pharmacists as traditional drug dispensers has shifted to more active and participative role in risk assessment, risk management, and other medication related consultation activities. Pharmacy profession is evolving steadily in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Pharmacists in UAE are so much occupied in their administrative and managerial duties that dispensing is mostly attended to by pharmacy technicians. Pharmacist- led patient counseling is limited to the dosage and frequency of medications and rarely adverse reactions and drug interactions with other medications. Therefore we decided to perform quantitative questionnaires study to explore the role of pharmacist in patient counseling in UAE, the evaluation of pharmacist's opinion on patient counseling and the potential determinants of personal consultation. Results show the frequency and nature of inquiries received by pharmacist. Five to twenty inquires per month are received from patient, most of them related to drug prescription and dose recommendation. Thirty nine percent of pharmacists received inquiries from doctors, most of them related to the dose and mode of action. Ninety two percent of the pharmacists agreed that patient counseling is their professional responsibility. About 82% of pharmacists agreed that counseling will increase their sales and enhance the reputation of their pharmacies. Seventy percent of pharmacists mentioned that they need to undergo training for effective counseling while 46% of pharmacists felt that more staff in the pharmacies would have a positive influence on patient compliance to medication therapies and patient safety. The potential determinants of personal consultation show that 52% of participants trusted pharmacist and 55% considered the pharmacist as a friend. Forty eight percent of participants visited the pharmacy for medical recommendation while 30% for drug compounding, 72% agreed that pharmacist conducts full instruction while 31% agreed about full investigation. In conclusion, reorganization of the pharmacist's activities may improve pharmaceutical consultations. Pharmacists must be exposed to recent trends in drug therapy, dosage forms, dosage, adverse effects and interaction. This cross-sectional study tests a conceptual financial socialization process model, specifying four-levels that connect anticipatory socialization during adolescence to young adults' current financial learning, to their financial attitudes, and to their financial behavior. A total of 2,098 first-year college students (61.9% females) participated in the survey, representing a diverse ethnic group (32.6% minority participation: Hispanic 14.9%, Asian/Asian American 9%, Black 3.4%, Native American 1.8% and other 3.5%). Structural equation modeling indicated that parents, work, and high school financial education during adolescence predicted young adults' current financial learning, attitude and behavior, with the role played by parents substantially greater than the role played by work experience and high school financial education combined. Data also supported the proposed hierarchical financial socialization four-level model, indicating that early financial socialization is related to financial learning, which in turn is related to financial attitudes and subsequently to financial behavior. The study presents a discussion of how the theories of consumer socialization and planned behavior were combined effectively to depict the financial development of young adults. The primary concern of this paper is to inquire about the associations between socio-demographic and psychological variables related to avian influenza in Turkey. The data were collected from a survey given to a sample of 247 females and 223 males from six regions in Turkey. Statistical analysis revealed that gender, education level, and socio-economic status had significant impacts on knowledge, attitudes, and responsible behavior. The present study was conducted to assess the attitudes and behaviors of practicing community pharmacists towards patient counselling and use of patient information leaflets in the state of Karnataka. Convenient sampling method was adopted to collect the responses with the help of self-completion questionnaires. A total of 258 practicing community pharmacists in the age group of 22-60 y of both gender with practicing experience of 2-30 y participated in the study. Majority of respondents (80%) agreed that, patient counselling is their professional obligation. About 17% of the respondents mentioned that, they try to give basic information regarding drug usage to the patient. The reasons stated by the pharmacists to provide patient counselling were, professional satisfaction (43%), patients go with satisfaction (32%), observed increase in sales (8%), and also improved patient compliance (7.5%). The major barriers for offering patient counselling were mentioned as pharmacists' inadequate knowledge and confidence (78%), doctor dispensing (72%), no professional fee (56%), poor response from patients (82%), inadequate continuous professional development programs (75%). Many respondents agreed that, patient information leaflets certainly help in counselling but available information leaflets are company generated and prescriber focused. Many respondents found the present continuing professional development module was useful and are interested in weekend workshops to update their professional knowledge (83%). Restrictions on doctor dispensing, legalization of patient counselling, regular continuing professional development programs are the factors observed to motivate the pharmacists to offer patient counselling. Background: As states continue to legalize the sale of recreational cannabis, there is a need to study attitudes and behaviors regarding driving after cannabis use. The purpose of this study was to describe US adults' attitudes and behaviors regarding driving after cannabis use by state-level legal sale of recreational cannabis, and to determine whether these associations differ by frequency of cannabis use.Methods: Data were collected from a national sample of 17,112 adults in the United States. Weighted adjusted prevalence ratios and 95% confidence intervals were used to compare the prevalence of behaviors and attitudes by state-level legal sale of recreational cannabis. Analyses were repeated among recent cannabis users, stratifying by cannabis use status.Results: Driving after cannabis use was more prevalent in legal cannabis sales states; however, so were potentially protective attitudes related to cannabis use and driving. After stratifying by frequency of use, daily/almost daily, weekly/monthly, and past 12-month users from states with legal recreational cannabis sales had significantly lower prevalence of driving after cannabis use and higher prevalence of protective attitudes compared to those from states without legal recreational sales. Risk perceptions were lower for cannabis than alcohol.Conclusions: Public health messaging campaigns to reduce driving and riding after cannabis use and to improve attitudes regarding driving after cannabis use are warranted across all U.S. states, regardless of legalization status. The present study examines the hypothesis that the attitudes and behaviors of people toward dental health practice varies with such factors as locality (urban- rural) age and levels of education. For this study 1085 urban and 871 rural heads of households have been interviewed. The results indicated that locality and age influences the behaviors of the respondents but the general attitude leads no relationship to the locality.
