This paper describes the collaborative development of an agenda for research on e-assessment in undergraduate mathematics. We built on an established approach to develop the agenda from the contributions of 22 mathematics education researchers, university teachers and learning technologists interested in this topic. The resulting set of 55 research questions are grouped into 5 broad themes: errors and feedback, student interactions with e-assessment, design and implementation choices, affordances offered by e-assessment tools, and mathematical skills. This agenda gives a framework for a programme of research aligned with practical concerns that will contribute to both theoretical and practical development.

Human walking is a complicated motion. Movement scientists have developed various research methods to study gait. This article describes how a high school student collected and analysed high quality gait data in much the same way that movement scientists do, via the recording and measurement of motions with a video analysis tool and via electromyography, i.e., the measurement of muscle activity. Physics, biology, and mathematics come together in this practical investigation work at a rather high level. The fact that a bungee jumper can reach an acceleration greater than the acceleration of gravity is, also from a physics point of view, intriguing. Taking only gravity into account, it can be explained by applying conservation of energy or by deriving carefully the equation of motion in a Newtonian approach. In this article we show how it can be done straightforwardly via the Lagrangian approach. We will also apply this method to the fall of a block with a chain hanging underneath and touching the ground floor, and to the fall of a chain on a scale. These examples of systems of variable mass may motivate physics students to learn and use the Lagrangian approach, and may let them appreciate the benefits of this approach in some physics problems compared to Newtonian mechanics, with which they are already familiar. We describe a simple experiment about sliding friction of an object moving with non-constant speed along an inclined plane. This experiment can be used to study the entire dynamical process of force and motion in various ways, depending on the mathematical level of the students. We discuss how video measurement and analysis, and mathematical modelling with adequate computer tools let upper secondary students focus on physics concepts, move back and forth between theory and practice, and make connections between all involved quantities, without being distracted by cumbersome measurements and calculations.
