This research aimed to study the availability of extension services that are provided to the coffee small-scale farmers in the Al-Udein district of Yemen. In addition, it outlines the other extension sources that farmers might depend on for the improvement of their knowledge and skills. The researchers found that the majority of respondents (70.8%) do not have access to any public institutions that provide extension services. Furthermore, the whole respondents (100%) stated that they are highly dependent on their experiences gained from the traditional practices. Moreover, more than (90%) of the respondents moderately depend on their friends and neighbors as a source of knowledge and skills. Furthermore, the researchers pointed out that (100%) of the respondents never depend on classical organizations as sources of agricultural extension knowledge. Additionally, (90%) of the respondents do not, at all, depend on agriculture exhibitions, agriculture films, printed materials, radio or TV programs as sources of knowledge and skills. However, (6.3%) of the respondents said that they are highly dependent on ‘WhatsApp’ as a source of knowledge. Finally, the researchers recommended that it is necessary to enhance the role of public extension services and encourage farmers to use the social media platforms and mobile phones in order to support the exchange of knowledge between extension services in one hand and between farmers themselves in the other hand which will led to enhancing the knowledge exchange process effectively and efficiently.

Frankincense trees (Boswellia spp.) worldwide are affected by a number of threats, including global warming and changing land management practices. On the Socotra Archipelago (Yemen), which harbours eleven endemic Boswellia species, grazing is generally assumed to be one of the main threats preventing natural regeneration. To test the impact of overgrazing on natural regeneration, we established an in situ experiment on four different Boswellia taxa in different areas of Socotra Island. Mortality and the height increment of seedlings were measured for a period of two/three years in five plots excluded from grazing (fenced) and in five paired control (unfenced) plots. Each plot was 50 m x 50 m in size and contained several adult trees as a source of viable seeds. Our results show that seedling mortality was significantly higher, and seedling height increment generally (4 out of 5 sites) lower in open compared to fenced plots. In the fenced plots, the number of seedlings for all species reached up to 772, with 560 surviving seedlings. In comparison, the control plots reached up to 296 seedlings, with 176 seedlings surviving after 2-3 years. The results of our experimental study indicate that grazing directly threatens the natural regeneration of the endemic Boswellia on Socotra Island. However, seedling mortality remained relatively high inside the exclosures as well, which indicates that even without the pressure of livestock grazing, other impacts remain a challenge for the future conservation of the archipelago's unique frankincense trees. Strain CCMM B554, also known as FSM-MA, is a soil dwelling and nodule forming, nitrogen-fixing bacterium isolated from the nodules of the legume Medicago arborea L. in the Maamora Forest, Morocco. The strain forms effective nitrogen fixing nodules on species of the Medicago, Melilotus and Trigonella genera and is exceptional because it is a highly effective symbiotic partner of the two most widely used accessions, A17 and R108, of the model legume Medicago truncatula Gaertn. Based on 16S rRNA gene sequence, multilocus sequence and average nucleotide identity analyses, FSM-MA is identified as a new Ensifer meliloti strain. The genome is 6,70 Mbp and is comprised of the chromosome (3,64 Mbp) harboring 3574 predicted genes and two megaplasmids, pSymA (1,42 Mbp) and pSymB (1,64 Mbp) with respectively 1481 and 1595 predicted genes. The average GC content of the genome is 61.93%. The FSM-MA genome structure is highly similar and co-linear to other E. meliloti strains in the chromosome and the pSymB megaplasmid while, in contrast, it shows high variability in the pSymA plasmid. The large number of strain-specific sequences in pSymA as well as strain-specific genes on pSymB involved in the biosynthesis of the lipopolysaccharide and capsular polysaccharide surface polysaccharides may encode novel symbiotic functions explaining the high symbiotic performance of FSM-MA. Periosteal osteoid osteoma is extremely rare. The diagnosis is not always clear. We report a case of periosteal osteoid osteoma arising from the posterior surface of the right distal femur in a 21-year-old woman. After careful evaluation and excisional biopsy, histological examination confirmed the diagnosis of osteoid osteoma, showing the nidus, surrounding osteosclerosis, and catarrhal syno - vitis. Knee dislocations are rare injuries. They represent a severe soft tissue injury following high-energy blunt trauma. We report a case of open posterior knee dislocation with rupture of the patellar tendon and a fracture of the tibial plateau. The treatment was surgical and consisted of reduction of the knee dislocation, fixation of the tibial plateau fracture by lag screws, and transosseous sutures for the patellar tendon protected by a patellotibial cerclage.
