In the fast-growing automotive technology sector, it has become increasingly clear that there is a need for cars with smarter and more interactive systems. This article presents the Intelligent Driving Assistance System (IDAS), an artificial intelligence system that enables the driver to use voice commands to access various features of a car. The primary component of IDAS is a Large Language Model (LLM), which, through retrieval augmented generation (RAG), can efficiently read and understand the car manual for immediate context-based aid. In addition, this system incorporates speech recognition and speech synthesis capabilities, it can understand commands given in multiple languages, improving user experiences among diverse driver communities. Our results show a minimum response time of one second for the pipeline using GPT-4o-mini and Mistral Nemo.

Objective: To present a case of neovascular glaucoma secondary to ocular ischemic syndrome following an uncomplicated phacoemulsification Methods: This is a case description of a 74-year-old male who developed blurred vision and increased intraocular pressure (IOP) two months after an uncomplicated phacoemulsification cataract surgery with posterior chamber lens implantation of the left eye. There was iris neovascularization with absence of retinal dot/blot hemorrhages or neovascularization. The fluorescein angiogram (FA) showed delayed choroidal fluorescence and arteriovenous time. IOP-lowering medications and intravitreal injection of aflibercept were given. Carotid doppler test showed 70% stenosis of the ipsilateral artery but a subsequent magnetic resonance angiography (MRA) did not show evidence of significant stenosis. Results: At his last consultation, visual acuity improved to counting fingers. IOP was maintained at 12 mmHg with one anti-glaucoma medication. Conclusion: Ocular ischemia can confound the outcome of an uncomplicated cataract surgery. Doppler scans are usually chosen as the first-line exam for those suspected of carotid stenosis but, at times, may have contradictory results with MRA.

On 2020 April 29, the near-Earth object (52768) 1998 OR2 experienced a close approach to Earth at a distance of 16.4 lunar distances (LD). 1998 OR2 is a potentially hazardous asteroid of absolute magnitude H = 16.04 that can currently come as close to Earth as 3.4 LD. We report here observations of this object in polarimetry, photometry, and radar. Our observations show that the physical characteristics of 1998 OR2 are similar to those of both M- and S-type asteroids. Arecibo’s radar observations provide a high radar albedo of ${\hat{\sigma }}_{\mathrm{OC}}\,=$ 0.29 ± 0.08, suggesting that metals are present in 1998 OR2 near-surface. We find a circular polarization ratio of μ _c = 0.291 ± 0.012, and the delay-Doppler images show that the surface of 1998 OR2 is a top-shape asteroid with large-scale structures such as large craters and concavities. The polarimetric observations display a consistent variation of the polarimetric response as a function of the rotational phase, suggesting that the surface of 1998 OR2 is heterogeneous. Color observations suggest an X-complex taxonomy in the Bus–DeMeo classification. Combining optical polarization, radar, and two epochs from the NEOWISE satellite observations, we derived an equivalent diameter of D = 1.80 ± 0.1 km and a visual albedo p _v = 0.21 ± 0.02. Photometric and radar data provide a sidereal rotation period of P = 4.10872 ± 0.00001 hr, a pole orientation of (332.°3 ± 5°, 20.°7 ± 5°), and a shape model with dimensions of $({2.08}_{-0.10}^{+0.10},{1.93}_{-0.10}^{+0.10},{1.60}_{-0.05}^{+0.05})$ km.

This study proposes a narrative pedagogical model for creating and developing case studies that highlight the challenges and issues surrounding the megatrends of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, specifically "People and the Internet." This proposal, framed in an online learning environment, represents the second stage of an educational platform to guide university students in facilitating an ideathon to address the megatrends of the 4th Industrial Revolution. Designing a model for case study creation related to the megatrends aims to foster complex thinking in university students, especially innovative thinking, a sub-competency of complex thinking. Fostering complex thinking highlights the importance of cognitive, practical, and adaptive skills to address interdisciplinary challenges. The Design Process and Practice Methodology and the case study methodology facilitated the narrative case study design model. The outcome of this study is a tangible product that enriches the debates on education and complex systems thinking in the context of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

El estudio anatómico del cráneo y del macizo máxilofacial en el ser humano ha significado todo un desafío sobre todo cuando se analizan las variaciones o rasgos singulares que han servido de base para clasificar en grupos raciales. Estas variaciones en la morfología ósea y de partes blandas, color de piel y rasgos característicos en el rostro, han sido consideradas por investigadores del siglo XIX como predictivas del desarrollo intelectual o de tipos de personalidad, aspectos que han suscitado debates, y que han llegado incluso a establecer en el subconsciente colectivo lo que consideramos como un estigma social hacia determinados grupos. Se utiliza el término “estigma” para referirse a aquellos rasgos anatómicos del cráneo y del rostro humano que han sido considerados en otra época, como señales determinantes del desarrollo intelectual o como características predictivas del comportamiento humano. El objetivo fue investigar en teorías y publicaciones del siglo XIX, rasgos de la morfología craneal y facial que para ellas constituyeron estigmas. Se realizó una revisión documental de autores, sus teorías y publicaciones en el siglo XIX, sobre el cráneo y el desarrollo evolutivo del hombre; posteriormente se identificó aquellos rasgos anatómicos del cráneo y rostro que evidenciaban prejuicios racistas y que contribuyeron a generar estigmas sociales hacia determinados grupos que aún hoy persisten.

Proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) are among the most frequent implicated drugs in acute tubulointerstitial nephritis (ATIN), nevertheless it is important to report cases with atypical profiles. A 80-year-old female, exposed during 34 months to omeprazole, presented with polyclonal hypergammaglobulinaemia and renal failure. After stopping omeprazole there was a partial improvement in serum creatinine and IgG. Renal biopsy revealed ATIN; immunohistochemistry for IgG4 was negative. Treatment with steroids and mycophenolate sodium improved renal function and normalized immunoglobulins. The lack of data of other entities and the patient’s evolution strongly point omeprazole as the culprit. After 27 months of follow-up, she remains clinical and analytically stable. ATIN caused by PPIs may appear after a long period of exposure and may be accompanied by analytical anomalies that simulate a systemic disease.

Length−weight relationships (LWRs), condition factors, and their variation over time were analyzed for four exotic freshwater fish (bleak, common carp, pikeperch, and roach) in the Estany d’Ivars i Vila-sana shallow lake in Catalonia, Northern Spain. Fish samples were collected twice a year (early summer and autumn), between 2008 and 2016, by using between three and five multi-mesh nylon gillnets. This study provides novel information about four common exotic fishes outside of their natural range and within the context of a restored shallow lake, where the ichthyologic community is evolving in concordance with the ecosystem conditions and the fish community dynamics.

Objective: To report the efficacy and safety of intravitreal pegaptanib sodium (IVP) on macular edema (ME) due to branch retinal-vein occlusion (BRVO) among patients intolerant to intravitreal triamcinolone acetonide (IVTA). Methods: Four eyes with ME due to BRVO were included in this interventional case series. The main outcome measures were best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA), central macular thickness (CMT), intraocular pressure (IOP), and adverse effects. Results: There was a significant decrease in mean CMT from 524.50 ± 141.12 to 293.75 ± 130.75 microns (p = 0.009) after IVP injection. BCVA improved in all 4 eyes after IVP. Mean IOP after IVP was 13.60 ± 3.21. No ocular or systemic complications were observed. Conclusion: IVP appears to be safe and effective in decreasing retinal thickness and improving VA in eyes with ME due to BRVO. IVP is a potential treatment for eyes that are intolerant to IVTA.

Objective: To describe a case of inflammatory pigment epithelial detachment (PED) presumed to be secondary to the amoeba Blastocystis hominis. Methods: This is an interventional case report. Results: A 46-year-old male complained of visual distortion in the left eye for 7 months. Examination revealed the presence of a subretinal cystic lesion on the fovea. Optical coherence tomography demonstrated a PED with a hyperreflective lesion over the detached retinal pigment epithelium (RPE). Work-up included a fecalysis, which revealed the presence of Blastocystis hominis. The patient was treated with oral metronidazole. RPE detachment resolved after treatment with no recurrence in 30 months of follow-up. Conclusion: Intestinal parasitic infection may be associated with retinal disease and should be included in the differential diagnosis of PED when OCT reveals a hyperreflective lesion.

Emerging Artificial Intelligence-enhanced technology platforms in education warrant attention to exploring new learning strategies and dynamics. Keeping up with the accelerating momentum to bring classic traditional learning activities to Artificial Intelligence-supported platforms may unbalance the interest in developing the participants' higher-order thinking. This article presents case study research of an Artificial Intelligence-based technological platform to measure complex thinking traits of higher education participants in an Ideathon learning scenario. The didactical strategy was grounded in the Transition Design approach, with Sharing Economy as the challenge. An overview of the process for developing Artificial Intelligence-supported activities, the challenges and risks identified in the development, and a classification model and enhancements for future implementation in a subsequent pilot are presented. The findings set a guideline for balancing Artificial Intelligence-powered educational activities and the development of the participants' complex thinking.
