Abstract The efficiency improvement of healthcare systems is a major national goal across the world. However, delivering scalable and reliable healthcare services to people, while managing costs, is a challenging problem. The most promising methods to address this issue are based on smart healthcare (s‐health) technologies. Furthermore, the combination of edge computing and s‐health can yield additional benefits in terms of delay, bandwidth, power consumption, security, and privacy. However, the strategic placement of edge‐servers is crucial to achieve further cost and latency benefits. This article is divided into two parts: an AI‐based priority mechanism to identify urgent cases, aimed at improving quality of service and quality of experience is proposed. Then, an optimal edge‐servers placement (OESP) algorithm to obtain a cost‐efficient architecture with lower delay and complete coverage is presented. The results demonstrate that the proposed priority mechanism algorithms can reduce the latency for patients depending on their number and level of urgency, prioritising those with the greatest need. In addition, the OESP algorithm successfully selects the best sites to deploy edge‐servers to achieve a cost‐efficient system, with an improvement of more than 80%. In sum, the article introduces an improved healthcare system with commendable performance, enhanced cost‐effectiveness, and lower latency.

Practically, the catalytic transformation of gas condensate to obtain gasoline products is a viable approach nowadays. This study deals with a process called methaforming in which gas condensate (obtained from Basra gas field- Iraq) coupled with ethanol as a co-feed under a nitrogen environment. The process was made possible with aid of using a metallic heterogeneous catalyst in the form of Zn/ZSM-5. Five catalysts were prepared and tested in this work, ZSM-5 (reference, pressed and shaped Si/Ai (80)), P–Zn/ZSM-5(R 80) pressed shaped, P–Zn/ZSM-5(R 30) pressed shaped, B–Zn/ZSM-5(R 80) bentonite mixed, and B–Zn/ZSM-5(R 30) bentonite mixed, at 2 wt% of Zn. The R 30 and R 80 represent two levels of acidity (Si/Al ratios: 30 and 80). Catalyst modification was conducted in two ways one using bentonite and polyvinyl alcohol (PVA). The second method is to shape the Zn/ZSM-5 by electromechanical pressing without bentonite. The methaforming was implemented at a pilot plant scale under certain conditions (T: 360–420 °C, P: 5 bar, and LHSV 1.2–2 h−1). The XRD and SEM characterizations have shown the modified catalysts maintain their main crystallinity and no obvious distortion in the crystal morphology post-metal impregnation. N2-adsorption isotherms demonstrate the catalyst is microporous. The outcomes have revealed better effectiveness observed in P–Zn/ZSM-5(R80). The research octane number (RON) has increased from 60.5 to 89.0, while P–Zn/ZSM-5(R30) and P-ZSM-5(R80) results show RON improvement from 60.5 to 80.1 and 82.0, respectively. Gas Chromatography (GC) has indicated there is an enhancement in aromatics and iso-paraffin from 7.4 to 14 and 35.9 to 47.4, respectively. In addition, the yield is reported as 75% under superior performance P–Zn/ZSM-5(R80) catalyst.

Abstract The Internet of medical things (IoMT) is one of the most promising fields that is expected to rapidly expand in the near future. Consequently, vast amounts of data will be generated, necessitating faster and more intensive processing capabilities. Several healthcare architectures based on Edge/Fog technologies have been created to lower healthcare expenses and provide better and more reliable services. Scalability, availability, capacity, latency, and privacy are some of the most pressing issues to consider when designing such architectures due to the critical and sensitive nature of healthcare data. To contribute to the reliability and robustness of electronic health services, this work proposes Healthcare Metropolitan Area Network (HMAN), a cooperative hierarchical Edge/Fog computing‐based architecture for the urban healthcare systems. The presented architecture suggests HMAN offloading scenarios and system response time calculation (HOSSC) algorithm which is specially designed to provide an abundance of offloading and processing scenarios within the network. The architecture also connects patients to the healthcare system by utilising the existing infrastructure in cities (e.g. medical centres and hospitals). Simulation results revealed that the designed architecture produced a ubiquitous and scalable healthcare system with promising and competitive performance, such as the computing capacity and service availability, by adopting multiple cooperative hierarchical offloading scenarios across the framework units. Moreover, the HMAN system was evaluated for latency and found to be very robust, with a short response time ranging between 6.043 and 31.45 ms in responding to 1 to 300 patients simultaneously sending. In addition to these appealing features, the proposed architecture ensures patients' privacy because the data are locally stored and processed in the most anticipated scenarios. The proposed architecture is a viable solution to providing healthcare services to a large number of patients.

We report a magnetic nanocomposite of mesoporous TiO2 coatings on Fe3O4 nanoparticles (m-TiO2/Fe3O4) that shows highly efficient adsorption of sulfamethazine (SMZ), an antibiotic molecule, from water. The nanocomposite was prepared using a unique surface coating process that produces a mesoporous TiO2 structure with a high specific surface area. It was found that the m-TiO2/Fe3O4 can adsorb SMZ from aqueous solutions, with the highest adsorption capacity of 270.3 ± 0.65 mg g−1. The SMZ removal efficiency is around 88% at pH between 3.17 and 7.01 within a short equilibrium time of 40 min. It was found that the experimental data can be best fit with a pseudo-second-order kinetics model for the SMZ adsorption and the SMZ adsorption is through hydrogen bonding as well as hydrophobic interactions.

Nano-scale coatings are important for controlling the functional behavior of surfaces. Here, a deposition process in liquid hydrocarbons is reported for metal oxides, in which a thin water coating on the substrate reacts with chemical precursors, forming a nano-scale layer.

In our life, computer has entered in all fields and its impact appeared in solving many of problems. One of those problems is the ability to store and deal with a huge amount of data. Also, the consequent method of indexing, retrieving and preserving that data requires cost and effort we need for a long time. In this paper, the authors designed and implemented a new method of database for the Office of Security Permits at University of Diyala to resolve the routine process and change the traditional work into an advanced digital work. This database has designed based on a software application with interface programed in C# and using Microsoft Access. The results show that this database management system has reflected remarkable achievement in administrational work at Office of Security Permits because it makes everything easy to deal with such as storing, adding, deleting data and printing the final reports

Mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs) are characterized by the absence of centralized management and the lack of any infrastructures. The frequent topology changes and variable propagation conditions make a routing is the most important issue, therefore, it becomes necessary for nodes within the networks to use appropriate routing algorithms. In this paper, we evaluate the performance of AODV, DSR, OLSR and GRP routing protocols using OPNET modeler 14.5 simulation software. In the simulated mobile ad hoc network, we made all nodes receiving FTP traffic from a FTP server as common source. we increased the possibility of multi-hop routes between nodes with each other or from the server to the nodes by placing them randomly in the network. Our simulations have suggested many of the scenarios to all selected protocols in the identical environmental conditions so as to evaluate their performance with respect to routing overhead, throughput, end-to-end delay and routing load.

Abstract Yasemin and Anber are the main rice varieties cultivated in Iraq. Anber is the favorite variety in Iraq because of its unique flavor, and Yasemin is the most cultivated variety. Determining the suitable moisture content of both varieties to produce high extraction rate (lowest rice breakage), good rice whiteness, and the best rice quality in terms of cooked properties was the purpose of this study. Moisture content (MC) (10%, 12%, 14%, 16%) of Yasemin and Anber were used, and targeted whiteness (32, 34, and 36) were obtained by using different milling times. Results showed that the best moisture content was 14% for Yasemin variety and 10% for Anber variety in terms of extraction rate. Process time increasing led to reduction of extraction rate and increased rice whiteness. The highest extraction rate of Yasemin and Anber was 56% and 64% with 32 whiteness, respectively. Kernel breakage had opposite relationship with extraction rate. Yasemin and Anber varieties were classified as short grain rice depending on their length. The maximum elongation was at 16% MC for Yasemin variety and at 10% MC for Anber variety, which increased 60% more than uncooked rice. There was no definite pattern observed for increasing rice volume (width and weight). In conclusion, the extraction rate of Yasemin and Anber varieties was increased at 14% and 10% MC, respectively. For cooked properties, 10% MC of Anber was the best in terms of rice elongation, while 16% MC was the best for Yasemin variety.
