Diamond-like carbon (DLC) films on titanium alloy Ti6Al4V substrates were tested with nanoindentation and surface roughness to look at the hardness and roughness of the coating and substrate systems as well as their mechanical properties. The powdered titanium alloy Ti6Al4V used in the substrate specimen was produced using laser powder bed fusion, an additive manufacturing process. In this study, we investigated the influence of substrates on the nanoindentation and surface roughness of the DLC film layer with an estimated 2. 2 1 μ m thickness on Ti6Al4V substrates. The findings of the nanoindentation show that the reaction to the impact was more flexible than expected. Maximum load, residual nanoindentation depth, hardness, and modulus may influence mechanical properties. The DLC-film Ti6Al4V substrate materials' top surface roughness is measured. As a result of the increased load-carrying ability of DLC/Ti6Al4V, Ti6Al4V is a superior choice for substrate materials for DLC films, A DLC coating, measuring 2. 2 1 μ m in thickness, was applied to a Ti6Al4V substrate utilizing a 5-min chromium deposition process. The aim of this study is to find the cost design of RC tension with varying conditions using the Artificial Neural Network. Design constraints were used to cover all reliable design parameters, such as limiting cross sectional dimensions and; their reinforcement ratio and even the beahviour of optimally designed sections. The design of the RC tension members were made using Indian and European standard specifications which were discussed. The designed tension members according to both codes satisfy the strength and serviceability criteria. While no literature is available on the optimal design of RC tension members, the cross-sectional dimensions of the tension membersfor different grades of concrete and steel, and area of formwork are considered as the variables in the present optimum design model. A design example is explained and the results are presented. It is concluded that the proposed optimum design model yields rational, reliable, and practical designs.

Advanced high strength steels have excellent strength-to-weight ratio and are widely used for automotive and structural applications. Grinding is commonly used as a final machining process for these materials to achieve the required dimensional tolerance and surface quality. In this work, the grindability of as-received microstructure of ferrite-pearlite and in-house developed ferrite-bainite-martensite steels using polycrystalline white fused alumina and microcrystalline sol-gel alumina grinding wheels under flood and minimum quantity lubrication conditions is studied. Grindability of these steels was evaluated based on the wheel wear, grinding forces, force ratio, specific cutting energy, surface roughness (Ra), and surface morphology. The sol-gel alumina wheel was observed with higher wear flat area and forces under all the grinding conditions as compared with white fused alumina wheel. The white fused alumina wheel exhibited higher force ratio values for all the grinding conditions than the sol-gel alumina wheel. The energy required per unit volume of material removal is lower for the white fused alumina wheel in both the steels under flood and minimum quantity lubrication conditions. This is due to the retention of sharpness of abrasive grains by self-sharpening for white fused alumina wheel than the sol-gel alumina. The presence of fractured, melted, and hollow chips on the ferrite-pearlite and ferrite-bainite-martensite steels under both the grinding condition confirms the change in material removal mechanism with the presence of higher wear flat area of the sol-gel alumina wheel. Based on the obtained results, the white fused alumina wheel was found to be a suitable grinding wheel for grinding of both the steels under all grinding conditions compared to the sol-gel alumina wheel. The effect of graphene nanoplatelets (GNPS) on the grindability of GNP reinforced ZrB2 was studied using a resin bonded diamond grinding wheel under dry and wet conditions. A comparative study of grinding forces was performed at selected wheel surface speeds and depths of cut for surface grinding. ZrB2-GNP showed lower normal grinding forces due to the improved fracture toughness and reduced hardness. The presence of GNP reinforcement in ZrB2 resulted in lower tangential forces and reduced specific grinding energy due to the role of GNP as a solid lubricant. The measured forces showed a good correlation with the micro cutting model for ZrB2 and ZrB2-GNP under dry conditions. The tangential forces showed the same trend as normal forces at different depths of cut and wheel surface speeds for ZrB2 and ZrB2-GNP with average force ratios of 0.3 and 0.35, respectively. The presence of porosity in ZrB2 increased the normal grinding forces during wet grinding. Scanning electron microscope (SEM) images of the grinding chips indicated a mixture of both the ductile mode and the brittle mode of material removal with predominantly brittle fractured chips. Energy-dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) confirmed the presence of GNPs in ZrB2-GNP grinding chips. The topography of the grinding wheel showed higher wheel loading after the dry grinding than that of wet grinding. Reliable and dynamic composition of web services is considered as essential for ensuring continuous services to the users since they are responsible for integrating varsity of applications in spite of their independency. The significant development in web services domain in the last two decades enable the option of devising novel service composition and service selection schemes for optimal performance and success rate of dynamic web service composition. Majority of the research works proposed for dynamic composition of web services was confirmed to be formulated using the characteristics of Quality of Service (QoS) or Transactional features of workflow. Improved Cosine Similarity-based Artificial Bee Colony Optimization Scheme for Web Service Composition (ICS-ABCO-WSC) is proposed for integrating the characteristics of QoS and transactional features for determining optimal candidate service solution from the workflow modeled graph generated during reactive service composition. ICS-ABCO-WSC is proved to enhance the rate of exploitation and exploration by incorporating opposition learning in employee bee phase and, combinatorial search strategical equations and enhance rate factor in the employee and onlooker bee phase respectively. The success rate and optimality index derived using experimental investigation of ICS-ABCO scheme is proved to be 26% and 32% excellent to compared baseline graph-modeled web service composition techniques. This improvement is realized in ICS-ABCO-WSC due to its potential of enhancing the precision and acceleration rate of converging solution achieved in Artificial Bee Colony Optimization technique.
