Large-scale instrument can be used for both scientific research and teaching. The use of large-scale instrument is a significant symbol of scientific research quality and innovation ability of science and engineering of undergraduate students. This paper analyzed the actual situation in the opening of large-scale instrument for undergraduate students and provided targeted solutions: 1. Setting up the management system of instrument network and training mechanism for pre-practice in order to create safeguards for the opening of large-scale instrument. 2. Developing a series of experiment items featuring characteristics of large-scale instrument, and dealing with opening experiment teaching for undergraduate students. This paper took the Chemical Experiment Center of Tongji University as example, introduced the fulfillment details of each measure, analyzed the teaching effectiveness and discussed the future work. As a traditional event, the Shanghai undergraduate chemistry experiment competition exerted significant influence among Shanghai and the Yangtze-river-delta region. This paper introduced the goals and objectives of the competition and described in detail the institution framework, the scale, contestant selection manners, contents, checkup forms as well as the characteristics of the competition. Combining with the specific proceedings of the competition, this paper elaborated the effect of competition on both promoting interschool exchange and pushing forward the teaching reform of chemistry experiment in the following four respects; 1. identifying problems existed in experiment teaching through participation in the competition; 2. improving the laboratory condition by sponsoring the competition; 3. organizing a symposium of experiment teaching during the competition; 4. conducting subsequent exchange of visits and contacts after the competition. Citing the center of chemistry experiment teaching of Tongji University as an example, it also analyzed the effectiveness of improving the quality of undergraduate experimental teaching with practical cases. A L-Cysteine/Au/BDD modified electrode was fabricated by electrodeposition of nano-particle of Au and then self-assembly of L-Cysteine on the surface of boron-doped diamond film electrode. The morphology of nano-particles of Au was observed by using scanning electron microscopy, and the electrochemical behaviors and reaction mechanism of the prepared electrode were investigated by cyclic voltammetry. It has been found that, in pH 4.5, 0. 1 mol/L HAc-NaAc solution, the modified electrode exhibited an excellent electro-catalytic effect for the redox of hydroquinone (HQ). By using the chrono-amperometry technique and measuring the oxidation peak current of HQ, an electrochemical assay method was established for the detection of HQ. The linear range is from 2.5 × 10-7 to 2.5 × 10-5mof/L with the detection limit of 3.25 × 10-8 mof/L at a signal-to-noise ratio of 3. This method was adopted to determine HQ in simulated water samples and the recovery was 98.0% - 103.2% . The study may provide a simple, rapid and sensitive method for the determination of HQ presented in natural environment and industrial effluent. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
