Equipment leakage is an important source of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) disorganized emissions in petrochemical industry. Taking six typical petrochemical enterprises as examples, their VOCs leakage characteristics and control effects were systematically analyzed. The results show that：① flanges and other connections and valves contribute the most to the leakage of VOCs in petrochemical enterprises, accounting for 73.31% and 23.74%, respectively. ② The average leakage rate of various types of sealing points is 0.29%, and the average single point leakage is 0.13 kg/a; 99.4% of the detected concentration of VOCs at sealing points is less than 100 µmol/mol, and 0.02% is greater than 10 000 µmol/mol ③ The leakage rate of open valves or open pipelines and pumps is the highest, 2.22% and 1.14% respectively. The leakage rate of all other types of sealing points is less than 1%. ④ The average delayed repair rate of leak points is 26.06%, which is seriously high; the average reduction rate of VOCs after the implementation of LDAR is only 14.49%, which is much lower than the reduction level of 63% in the United States. It is suggested that on the one hand, we should continue to strengthen the exploration and innovation of leak detection technology and introduce more intelligent and efficient means to improve the efficiency of leak detection; on the other hand, we should pay special attention to the quality control of the whole process of LDAR, and effectively guarantee the effect of VOCs leak control by strictly controlling the proportion of unreachable points and the delayed repair rate, etc. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In ordor to deeply explore the research progress of the prevention and control of odor pollution in China, the relevant research and policy standards of odor pollution in China were researched. The results showed that: The initial study of odor pollution in China was related to the promulgation of national odor discharge standards. The outbreak period might be closely related to the introduction of water pollution and volatile organic compounds pollution control policies. The release of the policy has vigorously promoted the research of odor pollution in black and odorous water bodies and odor pollution related to VOCs; the main research topics of malodorous substances in China focused on hydrogen sulfide, volatile organic compounds, thiols, ammonia, sulfide, amines, benzene series, sulfur ether, aldoones and other widely distributed components with low olfactory threshold; the main monitoring technologies were triangle odor bag method, GC-MS and electronic nose test method; the main odor treatment technologies were microbial treatment method, adsorption method, absorption method, plasma catalytic method, catalytic combustion and deodorant; there were difficulties and pain points in management and technology in the prevention and control of odor pollution in China. Future research on odor pollution could focus on the perception of residents, supporting the control of odor pollution in China from the two aspects of policy management and techniques.
