The recent global turmoil severely affected some developing economies. However, in general, these nations survived the crisis with less damage compared with advanced countries. The majority of developing countries did not experience a financial system collapse. What were the main factors behind their relatively better performance? We argue that the main reason was the relatively moderate financial account shocks, in terms of both magnitude and duration, experienced by developing economies during the global crisis. This was due to the fact that advanced countries could not fully serve their roles as safe havens during the recent global turmoil. Furthermore, developing countries enjoyed greater autonomy and legitimacy in implementing expansionary monetary and fiscal policies in an environment in which international cooperation partially met the need for an international lender of last resort. If the returns in advanced countries become more attractive, developing countries may face larger external financial shocks in future crises.

Recently, extensive research has been conducted on energy saving in the buildings. Cooling loads and heat gains stand out as a pivotal factor influencing energy consumption, underscoring the critical need for accurate calculations. This study aims to compare Radiation Time Series and Heat Balance methods, recognized as optimal approaches for cooling load calculations in the ASHRAE Handbook, utilizing computer software. The primary focus of this investigation was a four-floor U-type geometry primary school in Kayseri, comprising 116 space and 93 zones. The building was modeled using Revit software, employing Radiant Time Series method, and IESVE software, incorporating Heat Balance method. All relevant data inputs were defined, and subsequent cooling load calculations were executed. The outcomes reveal with Revit producing a total cooling load estimate 0.6% lower than IESVE. In conclusion, the values derived from both RTS and HB methods for calculating the building's cooling loads exhibit noteworthy proximity, affirming the robustness of these methodologies in conjunction with computer software applications. We demonstrated that Nϵ ‐alkanoyl‐L‐lysine ethyl ester/N‐alkanoyl‐L‐phenylalaninate gelling agents were constructed as a two‐component gelling strategy and applied as drug carriers in friendly solvents commonly used. Our designs are expected to have an edge in contrast to the other lipid‐based systems due to cheap raw materials, reducing the required amount of carrier, low molecular weight, ease of loading, simple dose adjustability, skin spreadability, and improved drug retention times. It could be loaded with Naproxen (Npx) with a high loading efficiency (up to 100 % as a percentage of gelator) without gel disruption. A complementary in vitro drug release study under specific pH was conducted and performed at different drug and gelator concentrations. These results reveal that the release of Npx from the supramolecular organogels was significantly retarded with increasing organogelator engagement from 0.46 % to 0.92 %, the initial release rate considerably reduced, from 18.75 % to 7.21 %, respectively; that is release rate shows a 2.6‐fold decrease; this result showed that the gelator concentration could control drug release. whereas the increasing Npx concentration enhanced it. Altogether, this work produces valuable outcomes, which may be relevant to the pharmaceutical industry, suggesting that new platforms may deliver NSAID (non‐steroidal anti‐inflammotory drug) molecules. Salinization of freshwater ecosystems is one of the major challenges imposed largely by climate change and excessive water abstraction for irrigated crop farming. Understanding how aquatic ecosystems respond to salinization is essential for mitigation and adaptation to the changing climate, especially in arid landscapes. Field observations provide invaluable data for this purpose, but they rarely include sufficient spatial and temporal domains; however, experimental approaches are the key to elucidating complex ecosystem responses to salinization. We established similar experimental mesocosm facilities in two different climate zones in Turkey, specifically designed to simulate the effects of salinization and climate change on shallow lake ecosystems. These facilities were used for two case-study experiments: (1) a salinity gradient experiment consisting of 16 salinity levels (range: 0–50 g/L); and (2) a heatwave experiment where two different temperature regimes (no heatwave and +6 °C for two weeks) were crossed with two salinity levels (4 and 40 g/L) with four replicates in each treatment. The experiments lasted 8 and 2 months, respectively, and the experimental mesocosms were monitored frequently. Both experiments demonstrated a significant role of salinization modulated by climate on the structure and function of lake ecosystems. Here, we present the design of the mesocosm facilities, show the basic results for both experiments and provide recommendations for the best practices for mesocosm experiments conducted under saline/hypersaline conditions. Climate change is affecting freshwater ecosystems globally, particularly those in semi-arid and arid regions. The Central Anatolian Ecoregion (CAE) in Türkiye has a semi-arid climate and is home to numerous endemic fish species. We used species distribution modelling to elucidate the distribution of sixteen endemic fish species in CAE and predicted their potential distributions for 2041–2060 and 2081–2100 based on the CMIP6 climate model. Half of the species are predicted to experience a significant loss of climatically suitable areas. Anatolichthys fontinalis, Gobio gymnostethus, Gobio hettitorum, and Pseudophoxinus burduricus will face a complete loss of suitable areas by 2081–2100 under a high emissions climate scenario, whereas Cobitis bilseli, Egirdira nigra, Gobio intermedius, and Squalius anatolicus will experience a significant loss. The other eight species can potentially benefit from climate warming if all other stressors remain equal. Anthropogenic stressors, such as water abstraction for irrigation, pollution, invasive species introductions, and dam construction, are already putting endemic fish populations in CAE under extreme pressure. Climate change is expected to exacerbate these threats. Regular monitoring of freshwater ecosystems and fish fauna in the CAE and protecting the region from key anthropogenic stressors are recommended to successfully conserve these endemic freshwater fishes under climate change. Organizations achieve their goals thanks to their employees. Therefore, those who have the strongest effect on the efficiency of the organization are those who work. It is a desired situation for businesses to use their production resources rationally without wasting production resources and to obtain the most output with the least input. By conducting a survey on labor productivity valuation in a paper manufacturing enterprise, 21 questions were answered. The first 4 of these questions aimed to measure the demographic characteristics of the personnel, and the other 17 questions were applied to 126 people to measure the effect of the change in the factory and working conditions on the personnel productivity. The excel program was used in the analysis of the survey, and frequency distribution graphics were used. In addition to the frequency and percentage values of the obtained data, 13 hypotheses were established, and the results of the t-test and one-way analysis of variance (One Way ANOVA) and Pearson chi-square test were also given. As a result, it has been seen that the work of the personnel is not appreciated most of the time, but they are warned in case the work is interrupted or not completed. According to the personnel, success is determined as meeting the production targets. It has been revealed that age does not affect labor productivity, but gender affects labor productivity. Aim: The aim of this study was to determine the region, frequency, distribution, age, and sex of histopathologically diagnosed oral malignant and oral potentially malignant lesions obtained from patients admitted to the Department of Pathology, Dicle University Faculty of Medicine, Southeastern Anatolia Region of Turkey. Methods: The pathological data of oral malignant and potentially malignant lesions histopathologically diagnosed at the Department of Pathology, Dicle University Faculty of Medicine, between 2018 and 2023, were retrospectively reviewed. Potentially malignant and malignant oral lesions were classified, and their distribution according to region, age, and sex was analyzed. The Shapiro-Wilk test was used to analyze the conformity of continuous variables to the normal distribution. The type I error level was accepted as 5% in statistical analyses. Results: Among 161 patients with oral or potential malignancy, 76 (47.2%) were female and 85 (52.8%) were male, with a mean age of 53.9 ± 17.4 years. The most common lesions were found in the buccal mucosa (40.4%). When 104 malignant lesions were analyzed, the most common lesion was oral squamous cell carcinoma with a rate of 75%, and when 57 potentially malignant lesions were analyzed, 38 (66.7%) of the patients had lichen planus, and 19 (33.3%) had leukoplakia. Conclusion: This retrospective study shows the distribution, frequency, and characteristics of malignant lesions in the oral cavity in a group of populations, especially in the Southeastern Anatolia Region of Turkey, and allows comparison with studies in different populations. Introduction: This study aimed to investigate the antimicrobial efficacy of chelation agents on Enterococcus faecalis (E. faecalis) and Candida albicans (C. albicans) when used alone or in combination with propolis. Methods: One hundred fifty mandibular premolar teeth were selected. Each canal was prepared with Reciproc R25. The roots were then divided into two parts along their long axis (n=300). For E. faecalis and C. albicans, the samples were divided into 16 groups (14 experimental and 2 control) as follows: Group 1A-1B [17% Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA)], Group 2A-2B [10% Citric Acid (CA)], Group 3A-3B [1% phytic acid/inositol hexaphosphate (IP6)], Group 4A-4B (17% EDTA+8 mg/mL propolis), Group 5A-5B (10% CA+8 mg/mL propolis), Group 6A-6B (1% IP6+8mg/mL propolis), Group 7A-7B (8 mg/mL propolis), Control A-B (Dimethyl Sulfoxide). Each tooth was randomly irrigated with 2 mL of one of the group solutions or dispersions for 5 min, and the solutions were examined for the bactericidal effect. Results: For C. albicans, all groups showed less optical density (OD) than the control group (P<0.05). The propolis group and the IP6 group had higher OD values than the CA group (P<0.05). For E. faecalis, on the other hand, significantly lower OD values were observed in the propolis+ CA group, compared to the CA and propolis groups (P<0.05). There was no significant difference between microbial growth among IP6, EDTA, propolis+ CA, propolis+IP6, and propolis+ EDTA groups (P>0.05). Conclusion: CA and IP6 showed promising results in eliminating E. faecalis, one of the collective organisms responsible for failed root canals. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Global warming and altered precipitation patterns are predicted to intensify the water loss in semi-arid and arid regions, and such regions in Turkey will be particularly affected. Moreover, water abstraction, not least for irrigation purposes, is expected to increase markedly, posing major threats to the water balance of the lakes and thus their biodiversity. Among the closed basins in Turkey, the Burdur Closed Basin (BCB), located in the southwest of Turkey, is expected to be most affected. The BCB includes several types of aquatic ecosystems which support high biodiversity, including one Ramsar site, six Important Bird Areas, and a considerable richness of native and endemic fish species. Therefore, it is essential to analyze the potential environmental impacts of climate change and increased water abstraction on BCB lakes and their biotic communities. Here, we combined historical data on ecosystems as well as meteorological, remote sensing, and ground-truth data to analyze the changes in the temperature and precipitation of the BCB, water surface areas, and land use, as well as the potential effects on waterbird and fish communities. We calculated the water budget to elucidate water availability in the basin over the last few decades and predicted future conditions based on rainfall and temperature forecasts using climate models. The Standardized Precipitation–Evapotranspiration Index (SPEI) was used to relate the water surface area to precipitation and temperature change in the basin. Crop-farming irrigation in the BCB has increased notably since 2004, leading to intensive water abstraction from the lakes and their inflows, as well as from ground water, to meet the increased demand for irrigation. The water abstraction from the lakes, inflows to the lakes, and the groundwater in the basin has increased the water loss in the catchment substantially. Remotely sensed data on lake surface areas showed a major shrinkage of shallow lakes in the last 40 years. Moreover, the largest lake in the basin, Lake Burdur, lost nearly half of its surface area, which is worrisome since the shallower areas are the most suitable for supporting high biodiversity. Climate models (CNRM-ESM2-1GCM for temperature and GFDL-ESM4-GCM for precipitation) suggest that from 2070, the BCB will face long-term, moderate-to-severe dry periods. This, and the increased demand for water for irrigation, along with climate change, may accelerate the drying of these lakes in the near future with devastating effects on the lake ecosystems and their biodiversity. Ectodermal dysplasia (ED) consists of many different combinations of irregularities that include developmental defects that occur in two or more of the following tissues: teeth, nails, skin, hair and sweat glands. The aim of this study was to evaluate the possible carries risk, perform scanning electron microscopy (SEM) mineral analysis in ectodermal dysplasia cases and describe the oral aspects. Ectodermal dysplasia cases, 41 patients (22 males and 19 females, aged 1.5 to 45 years), had a clinical examination. SEM analyses were performed from teeth that had to be extracted from ED cases for various reasons. Forty-one patients had tooth agenesis (from hypodontia to anodontia), multiple caries, hair and nail dystrophy. Also, extra orally they had sparse or absent hair, a short face, an unusual facial concavity, maxillary retrusion and relative mandibular protrusion. Differences between tooth samples were determined by SEM analyses. SEM analyses showed that the mineral content of ED teeth was lower than that of normal teeth and the surface properties of dentin and enamel were different. It is necessarily to support this observation with more comprehensive research. When dentists examine ED patients, they should consider the oral mucosa for excessive dryness and increased dental caries and should conduct a comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach to these patients in order to improve their dental, masticatory and caries conditions. Objective: The aim of this study was to examine the relationship between the level of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) symptoms and the attitudes of parents of children diagnosed with ADHD. Methods: According to the Diagnostic and Numerical Manual of Mental Disorders-IV diagnostic criteria, 66 children with an age range of 6-13 were diagnosed with ADHD and their parents who brought them to the interview. A total of 94 parents were included in the study, including both the mother and father of some children diagnosed with ADHD, the mother of some, and the father of some. Parents of the children were evaluated with the "Wender-Utah Rating Scale (WURS)", "Parenting Styles and Dimensions Scale (PSDS-SF)". Results: According to the results of our study; it was found that the permissive subscale scores of PSDS-SF were significantly higher in parents whose WURS scores were above the cut-off value compared to those whose WURS scores were below the cut-off value, and there was no significant difference between the two groups in terms of competent and authoritarian subscale scores of PSDS-SF. It was found that there was no significant association between parents' age and educational levels and their parent's attitudes. In addition, comparisons of parents in terms of ADHD symptom level and parental attitudes did not show significant differences between parents in terms of both variables. Conclusion: The results of our study showed that permissive attitudes were significantly higher in parents with high levels of ADHD symptoms. In a clinical approach to children diagnosed with ADHD, it is believed that evaluating the symptoms and attitudes of parents with ADHD and psychoeducation of parents about adult ADHD are important for treatment. We show that higher foreign-currency indebtedness raises the degree of exchange rate pass-through to domestic producer prices. For identification, we use micro-level data from Turkey, an emerging market economy that has experienced large exchange rate movements over the last decade. Matching the Credit Register of Turkey with disaggregated manufacturing sector data on domestic prices and foreign-currency revenues from international trade, we show that sectors with higher ex-ante net foreign-currency liabilities raise their prices significantly more following domestic currency depreciation. Aim: The aim of this study was to retrospectively evaluate the radiographs of the region of the third molar teeth in adults who presented with various complaints. The impaction status of these teeth was examined according to the positions shown, gender and the jaw. Methodology: A retrospective evaluation was made of the panoramic radiographs of a total of 664 patients, comprising 341 males and 323 females with a mean age of 23.96 years (range, 17-35 years). The impaction status and position were examined in a total of 1331 third molar teeth; 456 maxillary and 875 mandibular. Results: Of the 875 mandibular third molar teeth, 545 were seen to be in a vertical position, 234 were mesioangular, 54 distoangular, 32 horizontal and 10 buccoangular. Of the 456 maxillary third molar teeth, 322 were seen to be in a vertical position, 71 were mesioangular, 47 distoangular, 5 horizontal and 11 buccoangular. In the examination of the impaction status of the third molar teeth, there was seen to be more impaction of teeth in the mandible than in the maxilla. The most frequent impaction position of maxillary third molar teeth was vertical (70.61%) followed by mesioangular (15.57%), and in mandibular teeth, the most frequent impaction postion was vertical (62.28%) followed by mesioangular (26.74%). Conclusions: In conclusion, it can be said that when third molar teeth are impacted which may cause pathologies, the negative effects of these must be taken into consideration. Synthesis of two-component organogelation system was performed very easy and concise manner from Nε-palmitoyl-L-lysine ethyl ester and Nε-miristoyl-L-lysine ethyl ester in which they were used as base component and N-lauroyl-L-amino acids (amino acids:, alanine, leucine and phenylalanine as acid components.). And their organogelation properties were examined in different pharmaceutical fluids such as liquid paraffin, fatty acid ethyl, and isopropyl esters. In this way, gelation efficiency was ascertained variations of alkanoyl moieties and combination of different amino acids in the gelator structures.
