The first issue of Ozone: Science & Engineering (OS&E)was published in early 1979 with Dr L. J. Bollyky as theEditor-in-Chief. This was a milestone for the International Ozone Association, enabling professional recognition of the advances in ozone technology. Since this first issue, 45 volumes of Ozone: Science & Engineering have been published containing 238 individual issues, 1719 technical articles and nearly 22,000 pages. Dr Rip Rice became Editor-in-Chief in 1985 and continued this position until 1998. Barry Loeb was the editor until 2024. Under the leadership of these gentlemen, OS&E expanded from about 70 pages per issue four times per year to 100 pages, then to six issues per year, at about 100 pages. In 2001, the dimensions of the journal were increased to accommodate even more manuscripts. In 1989, the Harvey M. Rosen Memorial Award was established to recognize the "best paper" published in Ozone: Science & Engineering during the two-year period between World Congresses. The selection of this award is determined by the Editorial Board of Ozone: Science & Engineering. To date, 19 papers have received this prestigious award. OS&E has followed and reported the development of ozone technologies via peer reviewed articles from ozone researchers, manufacturers and consultants. Since Spring 2021, I have been on the Editorial Board for Personal Relationships as an International Section Peer Mentor. In the International Section, I work to diversify relationship science with a team of relationship scientists. In this role, I have learned more about diversity, and in turn, I have become inspired to reflect on other strategies I could partake in to assist in further diversifying relationship science. I aim to share those insights in this commentary through recommendations for relationship scientists. In addition to sharing these recommendations, I describe my positionality in a positionality statement, and I provide background on what diversity means to me and my current expertise in the subject matter. There are several recommendations in this commentary, and they involve all steps of the research process. I encourage relationship scientists to educate themselves, to consider the various diversities when developing their research questions, to initiate collaborations with and learn from other research teams whenever possible, to ensure that they are not unintentionally excluding underrepresented groups, to reflect on how they report participant demographic data, and to consider drafting their own positionality statements. Knowledge pertaining to scholarly publishing is not limited to information held within academic papers, and within a complex publishing environment that is in constant flux due to challenges and threats, there is interest in knowing how journals are adjusting to these parameters. The Internet Archive is a free and easy way to archive information that is found on websites. We recently argued for its use in the archival of website-based citations, and expand those arguments herein to focus on the importance to archive journal editorial boards, for three reasons: first, journals might not have any formal mechanisms to register changes in the editorial constitution of the board; second, there is historical importance in appreciating changes to editorial board constituency, including changes to gender representation; and third, changes might be made opaquely to hide or masquerade information that is intricately linked to the historical aspect of that journal. Our interest is thus not only within a historical prism, but also from a bibliometric point of view, given that the editorial board defines—to some extent—the journal's content by serving as its gatekeepers of quality. John Burke was a long-term member of TelSoc, a member of the Editorial Advisory Board of this Journal, and Convenor of TelSoc's Broadband Futures Group. His sudden and unexpected death on 24 August 2023 was received with shock and great sadness by his colleagues in many fields, including in TelSoc and the ex-Telstra diaspora. This tribute focusses on John Burke's substantial contribution over a long period to the telecommunications sector, but provides some indication of the other work that he did over his 81 years for the various communities of interest of which he was part.
