Current studies in the field of history as a science and as a discipline show us that it is in a permanent transformation, due to the increase in the level of complexity it entails, by reconsidering previous results and then by new methodological approaches. Our research is based on history as a didactic dimension and less on the history-science component, because as a discipline history has an important contribution to defining the cultural model in which people move, without particularities of age or gender, etc. Second, our analysis considers the constants and variables that have marked the discipline of history in the last 30 years. How can history pedagogy account for racialized experiences impacting historical thinking in the present? In contrast to a more universalized set of historical thinking skills, this article asserts a framework for historical inquiry through students' racialized experiences. What does historical inquiry through racialized experience look like? Rather than merely make room in the curriculum to validate racialized experience, students require tools to confront and historicize their experiences in a racialized world. Through three essential questions addressing the relationship between historical thinking and racialized experience, I emphasize historical scholarship that centers racially marginalized experiences. These essential questions lead into a framework for reorienting historical inquiry in the classroom, complimenting rather than replacing mainstream historical thinking pedagogy. This study aims to reveal the effect of using mnemonic strategies on student success in the teaching of history components in social studies, the permanence of their knowledge, and the students'opinions about this practice. The nonequivalent pretest-posttest control group model based on the quasi-experimental method was used in the study. After the experimental process, focus group interviews were conducted with two groups selected from the experimental group. It can be said that mnemonic devices contribute to the students' academic success and make the students' knowledge more retentive in the teaching of history components in social studies. Furthermore, in the students' views, it was seen that the course activities carried out with these strategies were especially fun and retentive, contributing to both increasing interest and better understanding of the course. The aim of this article is, given the scarcity of studies in the field of education, to establish a model of the concepts underlying the methodological dimension of the construction of historical knowledge. To do so, we start by defining the operations of the historical method, which make up the empirical variables. We then consider the contributions from didactics to define the constructs. The initial model comprises two dimensions: structuring operations, which are defined as the operations essential for proceeding in accordance with the historical method, which entails methodical thought; and alternative operations, which provide divergence and multiplicity, in accordance with an avant-garde history. To verify the model, we designed an objective instrument with 44 items and carried out a study with 222 subjects, aged between 13 and 18. The data were analysed using a variety of procedures (Pearson correlations, CFA, descriptive statistics, etc.), using SPSS and MPlus statistical software. Among other interesting results, verifying the proposed model involves verifying a structure established in accordance with the nature of the operations, confirming the proposed dimensions. The programmatic contents of a scientific and technological nature of the basic sciences and technical disciplines in the teaching of engineering require the use of pedagogical strategies that adjust to the concrete understanding of the students, for this reason, the study seeks to examine the historical evolution of the didactic transposition in the teaching of civil engineering in Colombia. The documentary qualitative methodology was used, based on the epistemological statements of the actors of the pedagogical method in the Colombian engineering scenario. It is concluded through critical reflection that although the university educational centers of the country that offer civil engineering are far from the evolutionary practice of didactic transposition as a teaching strategy, its systematic application is recommended to provide elements that seek to add attributes for the quality certification processes of engineering programs carried out by the country's university sector. This research is motivated by the discrepancy between learning achievement and students' ability to implement values in reality. Judging from the enculturation in history learning, students are less interested in history, in the end students are only able to be limited in theory, not in application. For this reason, it is necessary to design a teaching material that contains inspirational stories in learning history in high school. This type of research is development research that develops a history learning product. The research instrument used consisted of a questionnaire, test, interview guide, and observation guide. The results of this study indicate that there is an increase in student learning outcomes by using inspirational stories teaching materials in history learning, obtained 91%. This article deals with the field of history didactics in France, Quebec and Switzerland. With the professionalization of teacher training at Swiss universities of teacher education starting in the 2000s, subject didactics have come to see themselves as scientific disciplines. Following Rudolf Stichweh's definition of scientific discipline and community, this article discusses the extent to which those working in history education in German-speaking Switzerland have formed a scientific community. In this context, the Swiss-German Society for History Didactics (DGGD), founded in 2008, is interpreted as a framework in which a "sufficiently homogeneous communication context" (Stichweh) can unfold. Based on the minutes of the DGGD, interviews and a questionnaire survey among the members, we also examine career structures, or rather the socialization process, as well as the corpus of scientific knowledge and the self-image with regard to a specifi c expertise or competence. This article deals with the development of history didactics as an academic discipline in Austria since 1945. It explores concepts, studies and researchers that have been engaged in this academic fi eld as well as the process of its institutionalization. Not only does it focus on associations and academic institutions as key motivators but it also acknowledges the representatives of history didactics for their interests and achievements. It furthermore outlines how history didactics are positioned in the Austrian aca demic landscape and in German-speaking and international discourses. The article also discusses recent research approaches, focusing on typical aspects (subject-orientation, domain-specific conceptual learning, contributions to textbook research, etc.). This mixed-methods study explored the factors secondary history teachers use to determine historical content for their classrooms and the degree of perceived control in decision-making. Through a survey (N = 260) and follow-up interviews (n = 23), we found that secondary history teachers in the United States ranked historical significance most highly in their curricular decision-making, but the extent to which teachers felt they were able to exert control over curricular decisions was influenced by required assessments and other contextual factors. Nevertheless, many teachers also prioritized student interest and relevance when choosing historical content. Interviews revealed complexity in teachers' thinking and additional context-specific (dis)incentives (e.g., fear of controversy) regarding curricular choices. This article addresses the teaching of disability history, specifically concerning the historical figure of Franklin Delano Roosevelt (FDR). Drawing upon literature from multicultural education, disability history and disability studies in education (DSE), the authors discuss historical content and teaching ideas for instruction about FDR. The authors present findings from a content analysis of six middle level and secondary United States history textbooks, noting unanimous coverage of FDR's disability resulting from polio. These textbooks noted how he overcame his disability and strengthened his character, referenced his decision to conceal his disability, and quoted FDR directly regarding his disability. The authors follow this analysis with discussion of several middle and high school teaching ideas that might augment textbook coverage and representation about FDR. This article explores how teachers of United States history might further develop their teaching of history through the inclusion of disability history within the context of a famous historical figure. In the study, History textbooks written in the Soviet period and then renewed after the collapse of the Soviet Union were examined and examined by comparative analysis method. We pay attention in classrooms studied the subject, history textbooks written in that period, Ottoman Turkey and is the location of the image. In this study, secondary school classroom textbooks in the Soviet period, secondary school classroom textbooks in the post-Soviet Republic period, as well as the books taught in colleges and universities are analyzed. During the Soviet era in the history taught in classrooms as well as Ottoman Turkey from time to time, it is given enough space perception. In addition to the information; visuals, maps and primary sources do not hesitate to use the education system of the period, the desired effect on the students to do more than necessary. Although it was tried to characterize the Ottoman state as a sick state in the history classrooms written in the Soviet period, after the change in the textbooks immediately after gaining the independence of Azerbaijan, it was attempted to teach that the Ottomans had a great statist culture and came from the brotherly people who established a sovereign history. Engaging Popkewitz's characterization that school subjects are distinct from disciplines found in the academy, this article prescribes a dichotomous heuristic for understanding history education, scholarship or teaching. As such, I describe salient aspects of this characterization, distinguishing between the academic paradigm where students learn how to do history via apprenticing in specialized knowledge, skill, and methodology, and the K-12 alternative, where students encounter knowledge about history, learning information and thinking skills for citizenship formation. This paper uses ethnographic action research to explore how the objectives of the Australian Curriculum Intercultural Understanding can be achieved in a culturally diverse Year 5/6 (ages 10–12) primary school class in Melbourne. It examines whether a history unit on migration, that uses a structured historical inquiry approach, encourages culturally diverse students to develop a more critical and reflexive understanding of multiculturalism. Using Banks' multicultural framework and Bath's approach to ethnographic action research, I argue that the oral history component of a Year 5/6 history unit supported students to develop their Intercultural Understanding. It mentions about efforts of students to navigate the extreme volume of online material,and to interpret real news content from a burgeoning volume of fake news; and findings of study by Stanford History Education Group, which found that overall young people’s ability to reason about information on the Internet can be summed up in one word like bleak.

In this paper, we analyse the Second World War (WW2) and the Holocaust as genocide during WW2 as sensitive topics in history teaching as perceived by 719 teachers from Austria, Belarus, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Israel, Italy, Serbia and the Netherlands. Using the thematic content analysis of open answers to an online questionnaire we explore the reasons for the sensitivity of these topics. The reasons for sensitivity were found to lie in cognitive and emotional barriers to treating the atrocities, violence and discrepancies between different perspectives on WW2 of social memory groups. A relatively new dimension, confirmed by the research, is the problem of the aestheticisation of the violent past. This can lead to banalisation and even legitimisation of the violence and aspects of the violence that pupils perceive to be fascinating. The tremendous impact of comics to young people at the beginning and the middle of the twentieth century drew the attention of educators, thus the debate concerning the use of comics at school began very early. Some studies revealed that Greek pupils think of History as an extremely boring lesson, full of names and dates. Therefore, there is a need for an alternative approach that can render the lesson interesting and pleasant. This paper presents three didactic suggestions regarding the use of comics in teaching History. The first suggestion presents a single unit, the second is a two-hour revision of a textbook's entire unit and the last suggestion is a four-month project on what Asterix can teach us about History. Le présent article est une étude empirique portant sur les pratiques didactiques de trente enseignants d'histoire de 5e année secondaire des écoles de la sous-province éducationnelle de Ngaliema, dans la ville de Kinshasa. Le Schéma Didactique d'Analyse (SDAL) d'une leçon de Ngongo Disashi a été utilisé comme instrument d'observation, en vue d'analyser les interactions verbales entre les enseignants et les apprenants d'une part, et les apprenants entre eux, d'autre part. Les résultats obtenus après l'analyse des données récoltées ont révélé que la quasi-totalité des professeurs d'histoire (99 %) recouraient à la pédagogie frontale en pratiquant l'exposé magistral tandis que la participation des apprenants demeurait très faible (35,83 %). Pour remédier à la situation observée, l'introduction d'une série des pratiques innovantes dans le processus enseignement-apprentissageévaluation de l'ingénierie didactique de l'histoire est préconisée. Les paradigmes didactiques centrés sur les apprenants, l'intégration des outils numériques, l'usage du matériel didactique d'histoire adapté, la formation initiale rénovée des enseignants, etc., sont recommandés. The new national core curriculum has been put into operation in Finland. Teaching and learning is intended to focus on historical literacy. In this paper, we study how it can be assessed with a pen-and-paper test, and what that reveals in regards to the mastering of historical literacy among elementary pupils. To study this, we designed a test where pupils analysed sources, answered open-ended questions, and filled out weighted multiple-choice questions. Furthermore, we implemented the test with the think-aloud method. The results from this indicate the way 12-year-olds read historical documents and formulate their own interpretations. The results demonstrate that most of the pupils succeeded in acquiring historical information from different sources, as well as understanding the interpretative nature of historical knowledge. The test also revealed that pupils can identify some intentions of the sources’ producers, as well as reasoning through their own interpretations using a single source. Some pupils, however, could not process the cognitive noise inherent to the test (i.e. conflicting sources). Some of them also considered an authoritative source to be principally more reliable than other sources.
