A major resource for integrating federal and commercial research and developing advanced information components has been established at the Sandia National Laboratories, Albuquerque, U.S.A. The National Center for Advanced Information Components Manufacturing (NCAICM) will help the U.S. Government develop dual use capabilities for defence and civilian sectors of the economy. NCAICM, which will be operated as a partnership between the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency and the U.S. department of energy, will complement other U.S. Department of Defense microelectronics, optoelectronics and small area LCD based display programmes.
