Abstract Background In out-of-hours urgent care practices in Germany, physicians of different specialties care for a large number of patients, most of all unknown to them, resulting in a high workload and challenging diagnostic decision-making. As there is no common patient file, physicians have no information about patients’ previous conditions or received treatments. In this setting, a digital tool for medical history taking could improve the quality of medical care. This study aims to implement and evaluate a software application (app) that takes a structured symptom-oriented medical history from patients in urgent care settings. Methods We conduct a time-cluster-randomized trial in two out-of-hours urgent care practices in Germany for 12 consecutive months. Each week during the study defines a cluster. We will compare participants with (intervention group) and without app use (control group) prior to consultation and provision of the self-reported information for the physician. We expect the app to improve diagnostic accuracy (primary outcome), reduce physicians’ perceived diagnostic uncertainty, and increase patients’ satisfaction and the satisfaction with communication of both physician and patient (secondary outcomes). Discussion While similar tools have only been subject to small-scale pilot studies surveying feasibility and usability, the present study uses a rigorous study design to measure outcomes that are directly associated with the quality of delivered care. A mathematical model has been developed to assess the digitization of the beekeeping sector. For this purpose, the summarized results of questionnaire surveys of 37 apiaries located in the regions of Plovdiv and Pleven municipalities in Bulgaria were used. For evaluation on the degree of digitization of the apiaries we took under consideration only what software and hardware products are used. The results showed a low degree of digitization of the studied apiaries - in 27 out of 37 studied apiaries there were no data about the use of software and hardware applications, and the average level of digitization for the studied apiaries according to the model we developed was within 8-9 %. A survey on the awareness of those employed in the beekeeping about some basic digital products for collecting, storing and distributing information and their willingness to use them in the future was also conducted. It was found that between 21% and 35% of the respondents were not familiar with the basic digital products. Far more worrying was that between 50 % and 70% of respondents stated that they were familiar with the listed digital products, but did not intend to use them in the near future. The general digital reconstruction of the necropolis in Numana was carried on following a methodology targeted to a quick survey at different scales: from the single ceramic or artifact to the whole archaeological landscape. The digitization of protected works in the context of cultural preservation is becoming more important, according to the latest proposal of the European Commission directive on copyright in the digital single market, pending final approval. This may represent an opportunity for European libraries, which can create digital collections with those works that are manifestly outside commercial channels. This requires a set of computer programs capable of extracting information from catalogs, and provide a first detection of the owners of the works. This research approach the methodology for the development of a software capable of crossing information from library bibliographic catalogs, with commercial catalogs, in order to determine the presence or absence of their books. In its development, the difficulties and solutions used for its construction are explained, derived from the heterogeneity of the consulted catalogs. Finally, it is concluded that the creation of this type of computer applications is feasible and very useful, since an average of more than 90% correct answers can be obtained in the distinction of non-commercial works. However, there are still problems when trying to differentiate the editions or even interpreting the false positives, derived from aspects such as the algorithms of automatic suggestion of works. The digitization of our lives cause a shift in the data production as well as in the required data management. Numerous nodes are capable of producing huge volumes of data in our everyday activities. Sensors, personal smart devices as well as the Internet of Things (IoT) paradigm lead to a vast infrastructure that covers all the aspects of activities in modern societies. In the most of the cases, the critical issue for public authorities (usually, local, like municipalities) is the efficient management of data towards the support of novel services. The reason is that analytics provided on top of the collected data could help in the delivery of new applications that will facilitate citizens' lives. However, the provision of analytics demands intelligent techniques for the underlying data management. The most known technique is the separation of huge volumes of data into a number of parts and their parallel management to limit the required time for the delivery of analytics. Afterwards, analytics requests in the form of queries could be realized and derive the necessary knowledge for supporting intelligent applications. In this paper, we define the concept of a Query Controller (QC) that receives queries for analytics and assigns each of them to a processor placed in front of each data partition. We discuss an intelligent process for query assignments that adopts Machine Learning (ML). We adopt two learning schemes, i.e., Reinforcement Learning (RL) and clustering. We report on the comparison of the two schemes and elaborate on their combination. Our aim is to provide an efficient framework to support the decision making of the QC that should swiftly select the appropriate processor for each query. We provide mathematical formulations for the discussed problem and present simulation results. Through a comprehensive experimental evaluation, we reveal the advantages of the proposed models and describe the outcomes results while comparing them with a deterministic framework. In today's culture, television is still a central part of everyone's life. Like everyone else, blind and partially sighted persons want to watch TV and be part of the trend. With the TV signal digitization and the current market growth of connected TVs, we envision the appearance of accessibility barriers for visually impaired persons. As a first step of a larger evaluation to understand the problems users with visual impairments face everyday, we decided to conduct an automated accessibility evaluation to compare TV and Desktop versions of the same Web application, and characterize their conformance with accessibility guidelines. From the results obtained with the automated accessibility evaluation we concluded that TV applications are in a significant better level of conformance with accessibility guidelines. This work decribes the Archive Digitization Application - ADA. The application was made on the request of the Military Archives of the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Serbia and follows the complete structure of archives organization. The most important parts of the application for digitization of documents have been described as well as tasks of work posts for digitization of documents. The process of digitization can be divided into three phases in order to protect documents and to present them in the most efficient way to users - researchers. Though a term 'scanning' is commonly used, digitization is a complex process and requires realization of all phases in order to get the final product. At the same time, an increased possibility of access to a larger number of documents is given to researchers with no dependancy on available reso-urses in terms of bringing out and returning archival material from and to archives depots. Addition of extra sensors, especially video cameras and force sensors, under control of appropriate software makes robotic manipulators working in factories suitable for a range of new applications. This paper presents a method of manipulator indirect force control development, in which the force set values are specified in the operational space and the manipulator is equipped with a force sensor in its wrist. Standard control development methods need the estimation of parameters of the detailed model of a manipulator and position servos, which is a complicated and time-consuming task. Hence, in this work a time-efficient hybrid procedure of controller development is proposed consisting of both analytical and experimental stages: proposal of an approximate continuous model of a manipulator, experimental determination and verification of its parameter values using the resonance phenomenon, continuous regulator development, and digitization of the regulator.
