The combination of electron-deficient viologen ligands with electron-rich POMs is a typical acceptor–donor system that has recently received much attention. Under solvothermal and hydrothermal conditions, by introducing three symmetric viologen ligands into POM-based hybrid materials, we successfully constructed four POMs–viologen inorganic–organic hybrid compounds, namely (1,3-bcbpy)2·(δ-Mo8O26) (1) (1,3-bcbpy·2Cl = 1,1′-bis(3-carboxybenzyl)-4,4′-bipyridine dichloride), {CoII(1,4-bcbpy)2(H2O)2[H2(β-Mo8O26)]}·2H2O·2CH2O (2), (1,4-bcbpy)2·(δ-Mo8O26)·2H2O (3) (1,4-bcbpy·2Cl = 1,1′-bis(4-carboxybenzyl)-4,4′-bipyridine dichloride, CH2O = formaldehyde), and {CuII(1,1-pmbby)2(H2O)[H2(β-Mo8O26)2]}·5H2O·C2H7N (4) (1,1-pmbby·2Cl = 1,1′-[1,4-phenylbis(methylene)]bis-(4,4′-bipyridine)dichloride, C2H7N = dimethylamine). These four compounds exhibit different fascinating structures, especially compound 4 is a typical metal–organic framework. Compounds 1–4 exhibit good discoloration behaviors under various external stimuli. For example, compounds 1–4 showed a positive response to the irradiation from a 300 W Xe lamp. When a positive voltage was applied to the ECD based on compounds 1–4, 1/2/3/4-ECD underwent a significant color conversion. What's more, compound 4 also showed obvious discoloration results after heating. In a word, 1–4 are multifunctional discoloration materials under different external stimuli. In addition, the coated filter paper prepared based on compound 3 can be used as a new printing material medium and can be successfully applied in erasable inkless printing and dual anti-counterfeiting. In this paper, carbon-matrix-supported copper (Cu) and cobaltous oxide (CoO) nanoparticles were obtained by using coordination polymers (CPs) as a precursor. The aqueous solutions of copper methacrylate (CuMA) and cobalt methacrylate (CoMA) were preferentially prepared, which were then mixed with anhydrous ethanol to fabricate dual metal ion coordination polymers (CuMA/CoMA). After calcination under an argon atmosphere, the Cu-CoO/C nanocomposite was obtained. Scanning electron microscope (SEM) and transmission electron microscope (TEM) showed that the material has banded morphology, and the dual functional nanoparticles were highly dispersed in the carbon matrix. The prepared material was used in a heterogeneous Fenton-like reaction, with the aim of replacing traditional ferric catalysts to solve pH constraints and the mass production of ferric slime. The obtained nanocomposite showed excellent catalytic performance on the degradation of methylene blue (MB) at near-neutral conditions; the discoloration efficiency is about 98.5% within 50 min in the presence of 0.15 mmol/mL H2O2 and 0.5 mg/mL catalyst. This paper describes the synthesis and characterization of seven different copper(II) coordination compounds, as well as the formation of a protonated ligand involving all compounds from the same reaction. Their synthesis required hydrothermal conditions, causing the partial in situ transformation of 5-fluoro uracil-1-acetic acid (5-FUA) into an oxalate ion (ox), as well as the protonation of the 4,4′-bipyridine (bipy) ligand through a catalytic process resulting from the presence of Cu(II) within the reaction. These initial conditions allowed obtaining the new coordination compounds [Cu2(5-FUA)2(ox)(bipy)]n·2n H2O (CP2), [Cu(5-FUA)2(H2O)(bipy)]n·2n H2O (CP3), as well as the ionic pair [(H2bipy)+2 2NO3−] (1). The mother liquor evolved rapidly at room temperature and atmospheric pressure, due to the change in concentration of the initial reagents and the presence of the new chemical species generated in the reaction process, yielding CPs [Cu(5-FUA)2(bipy)]n·3.5n H2O, [Cu3(ox)3(bipy)4]n and [Cu(ox)(bipy)]n. The molecular compound [Cu(5-FUA)2(H2O)4]·4H2O (more thermodynamically stable) ended up in the mother liquor after filtration at longer reaction times at 25 °C and 1 atm., cohabiting in the medium with the other crystalline solids in different proportions. In addition, the evaporation of H2O caused the single-crystal to single-crystal transformation (SCSC) of [Cu(5-FUA)2(H2O)(bipy)]n·2n H2O (CP3) into [Cu(5-FUA)2(bipy)]n·2n H2O (CP4). A theoretical study was performed to analyze the thermodynamic stability of the phases. In this paper, two novel Cu(II) complexes [CuL(S‐1‐amino‐2‐propanol)] (R1) and [CuL(S‐2‐amino‐1‐propanol)] (R2) have been synthesized and characterized using Fourier transform infrared (FT‐IR), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), high‐resolution mass spectrometry (HR‐MS), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and single crystal X‐ray diffraction (SCXRD) technique. The single‐crystal XRD analyses show that compounds R1 and R2 crystallized in triclinic and monoclinic crystal systems with P‐1 and P21 space groups, respectively. The τ5 parameter values of R1 and R2 confirmed distorted square pyramidal geometry around Cu(II) centre. The compounds R1 and R2 possess 2D polymeric chains with (4,4)IIIa and 2C1 topology, respectively. The non‐covalent interactions and electrostatic properties were investigated using Hirshfeld surface analysis and density functional theory (DFT). DFT calculations revealed higher stability of R1 over R2. The presence of strong hyper conjugative interactions in carbon–carbon and carbon–nitrogen bonds has been confirmed by natural bond orbital (NBO) analysis. Time‐dependent (TD)‐DFT calculations were also performed to determine the excited state properties. Based on theoretical calculations, the simulated spectra showed absorption maxima at 506 and 743 nm for both complexes. Antimicrobial assays revealed that R1 is significantly antimicrobial against Pseudomonas aeruginosa at 512 and 256 μg/mL for Staphylococcus aureus, correspondingly. Serum binding studies of R1 confirm the existence of instinctive bonding interactions due to negative values on account of ∆G, ∆S and ∆H obtained from thermodynamics studies. In silico molecular dynamics and docking approaches have been used to validate the experimental findings of anti‐microbial assay and serum binding studies. A high dock score for R1 over R2 revealed the high binding energy of the former with bacterial protein. It was found that the protein‐ligand complex remained stable throughout the dynamic simulation process, and substantial interactions between R1 and bovine serum albumin were observed. This paper describes the synthesis of a new acetylene‐bridged triphosphine, ((phenylphosphanediyl)bis‐(ethyne‐2,1‐diyl))bis(diphenylphosphane) [PhP{C≡CPPh2}2] (2) and its coordination complexes of RuII, RhIII, CuI, PdII and PtII. The reaction of diethynylphenylphosphine [PhP{C≡CH}2] (1) with two equivalents of LiHMDS followed by the addition of PPh2Cl resulted in 2. Treatment of 2 with [Ru(η6‐p‐cymene)Cl2]2 and [RhCp*Cl2]2 in 1 : 1.5 molar ratios produced trinuclear complexes [{Ru(η6‐p‐cymene)Cl2}3{μ3‐PPh(C≡CPPh2)2}] (3) and [(RhCp*Cl2)3{μ3‐PPh(C≡CPPh2)2}] (4). The molecular structure of 3 was confirmed by single crystal X‐ray analysis. Treatment of 2 with M(COD)Cl2 (M=Pd, Pt) in 2 : 3 ratio afforded open book type complexes [(MCl2)3{μ3‐PPh(C≡CPPh2)}2] (5 M=Pd, 6 M=Pt). The reaction of 2 with CuI in 1 : 2 ratio afforded 1‐D coordination polymer [{Cu2(μ2‐I)2(CH3CN)}{PPh(C≡CPPh2)2}3{CuI}2] (7) containing [(CuI)2{μ2‐(P−C≡C−P)3}] cylindrical units. A zirconium-MOF with a sulphonic acid functionalized biphenyldicarboxylic acid linker was synthesized by a solvothermal process. The material was characterized by powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), Brunauer–Emmett–Teller (BET) analysis, infrared (IR) spectroscopy, energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), and FESEM analysis. The fluorescence sensing experiment towards the detection of Cu2+ was carried out. The detection time for Cu2+ was only 15 s with a very low limit of detection, which is 0.22 μM. The Stern–Volmer constant was found to be 5.5 × 105 M−1. For easy handling and real field application purposes, we developed a paper-strip based sensing device. The systematic study of the mechanism by EDX, PXRD, TRPL, and UV-Vis spectroscopy revealed that the quenching of fluorescence intensity by copper(II) was due to the fluorescence resonance energy transfer. • The pyridine polymers with cationic skeleton were obtained utilizing conjugation ring. • The cationic framework of pyridine polymers endows them with Au(III) selectivity. • The single point contact improved the pyridine polymer adsorption capacity for gold. • The cationic pyridine polymers perform well in practical solutions with significantly varying ionic concentrations. Recovering gold from rich waste printed circuit boards (WPCBs) resource are of great significance to gold development and utilization. In this paper, cationic pyridine polymers with different configurations were designed and synthesised for highly selective and efficient recovery of gold from a WPCB leaching solution. The structures and performances of the cationic pyridine polymers were analysed using a 4–aminopyridine polychloromethylstyrene (4–AP/PCMS). The results indicate that the 4–AP/PCMS performed well in an acidic environment, including in the 5 % aqua regia solution. Gold adsorption on the 4–AP/PCMS followed pseudo–second–order kinetics and Langmuir isotherm models, suggesting that chemisorption occurred via a single–layer mechanism with a maximum loading capacity of 437.68 mg/g. Further, Au(III) adsorption on the 4–AP/PCMS involved electrostatic interactions and reduction between pyridine and AuCl 4 −. After five adsorption–desorption cycles, the adsorption rate remained above 99 %, whereas in actual leaching solutions it reached 92.24 %. All five pyridine polymers demonstrated outstanding Au(III) selectivity over binary and multicomponent solutions containing Cu(II), Ni(II), Co(II), Zn(II), Fe(III), Cd(II), and Mg(II), benefitting from the cationic pyridine skeleton. Contact patterns between the cationic pyridine polymers and AuCl 4 − considerably affected the gold loading capacity, and a single–point contact was found to be favourable for gold adsorption. In this paper, bis-monodentate Schiff base ligand (2,4-Cl-ba)2bn and its 1D copper(I) coordination polymer [Cu2(μ-(2,4-Cl-ba)2bn)(μ-I2)]n are synthesized and characterized by the elemental analysis (CHN), FT-IR and 1H NMR spectroscopy. Their crystal structure is determined from the single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. The thermal behavior of the complex is studied using thermogravimetry in order to evaluate its thermal stability and thermal decomposition pathway. The X-ray results show that the free Schiff base ligand (2,4-Cl-ba)2bn is centrosymmetric and coordinated to copper(I) ions via two iminic nitrogen atoms as a bis-monodentate bridging ligand. The coordination geometry around the copper ions is a distorted triangle formed by one nitrogen and two iodine atoms. In this paper, "filling" the 4,4′-azobis(1,2,4-triazole) (ATRZ) molecules into the structure of NTO (3-nitro-1,2,4-triazol-5-one) E-MOFs, the coordination and crystal water molecules were successfully extruded to gain anhydrous [Cu(NTO) 2 (ATRZ)] ( a ) / [Zn(NTO) 2 (ATRZ)] ( c ) and hypohydrous [Co(NTO) 2 (ATRZ)(H 2 O) 2 ]·ATRZ ( b ) by adjusting pH at room temperature and pressure, which is friendly for energetic materials. With the addition of ATRZ (high HOF) and the departure of water, the Δ f H m θ of them are becoming higher. The heat of detonation is increased by 1.33, 2.39 and 0.74 times respectively and the calculated detonation velocity of three compounds is enhanced by about 1000 m s−1 contrasted to the corresponding hydrates. The removal of water molecules did not result in a high sensitivity. More importantly, as potential catalysts for AP-based solid propellants, a and c still showed excellent catalysis for the thermal decomposition of AP (ammonium perchlorate) after modification. In this study, it took a whole new idea to radically solve the difficulties in the area of E-MOFs by a simple and original way, and this is a significant innovation for the safety of energetic material. In this paper, the precursors of the coordination polymer Ce(1,3,5-BTC)(H 2 O) 6 with different morphologies have been successfully prepared via a facile and rapid method, and then the CuO/CeO 2 catalysts were obtained by impregnation method to support copper species. The catalysts were characterized by scanning electron microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, ultraviolet Raman spectrscopy, N 2 adsorption-desorption, H 2 programmed temperature reduction and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, respectively. The results showed that U–CuCeO catalyst has stronger CuO dispersion and higher oxygen vacancy concentration on the surface. The high specific surface area of U–CuCeO catalyst facilitates the highly dispersed CuO species and enhances the interaction between copper and cerium, and improves the catalytic performance compared with the other catalysts. For U–CuCeO catalyst, the CO conversion reached 100% at 120 °C. It also exihibited the broadest complete reaction temperature window. A new coordination polymer, [Cu(pmaeOH)Cl 2 ] n , based on the copper(II) ion and 2-(2-pyridine-2-ylmethylamino)ethanol (pmaeOH) ligand was obtained from a methanol solution. The coordination polymer was characterized by elemental analysis, infrared spectroscopy, X-ray single-crystal diffraction, magnetic susceptibility measurements, and DNA cleavage effect. The crystal structure of the polymer consisted of a one-dimensional (1-D) chain with each copper(II) atom six-coordinated (by three nitrogen atoms and three chlorine atoms) in a severely distorted octahedral geometry. The polymer exhibited ferromagnetic behavior within the 1-D chain (J = 6.35 cm−1) through the long bond distances of copper(II) and chloride ions. The copper(II) complex cleaves sc DNA through oxidative pathways, where the reactive oxygen species (ROS) involved in DNA cleavage are the superoxide radical (⋅O 2 –), singlet oxygen (1O 2), and hydrogen peroxide (H 2 O 2). This paper reports the new synthesis of a ferromagnetically coupled polymer bridged with a chloride ion and its DNA cleavage effect for molecular memory devices and DNA repair applications. This paper reports the syntheses and structural characterization of three new Cu(II) coordination polymers, namely [Cu(BAEE)(N 3 ) 2 ] ∝ ( 1 ), [Cu(BAEE)(NCO) 2 ] ∝ ( 2 ) and [Cu(BAEE)(NCS) 2 ] ∝ ( 3 ), where BAEE is 1,2-bis(2-aminoethoxy)ethane. Compound 1 is a one-dimensional (1D) single-stranded normal helical structure, while compounds 2 and 3 are extraordinary single-stranded meso-helical polymers. The influence of pseudohalides in these systems is observed as the azide ions are cis coordinated in 1 and the thiocyanate ions are trans coordinated in 3 , while alternate metal centers are either cis or trans coordinated with cyanate ions in 2 . These geometrical preferences play a crucial role in the diverse helicity in these chain structures, where the cis arrangement (in 1 ) favors a uniform helicity in the structure and the trans arrangement (in 2 and 3 ) of the pseudohalide ligands around the copper(II) center brings meso-helicity in the chains. The energetic difference of the cis / trans isomers and the formation energies of the different assemblies using DFT calculations suggest that the different H-bond acceptor ability of the thiocyanate ion determines the different architecture observed in 3 . Our results highlight how the geometrical preferences of the pseudohalides around the copper(II) center influence the helical diversity in these systems and thereby provide a clue toward the development of uncommon coordination polymers with amazing meso-helical character. This paper describes the synthesis and structural characterization of two new one-dimensional coordination polymers involving 1,3-bis(4-pyridyl)propane ligand named {(μ-NCS)2[Cu(bpp)] ·dmf} n ( 1) and {[Cu(mebpy)(bpp)(dmso)](ClO4)2 ·dmso} n ( 2) (bpp = 1,3-bis(4-pyridyl)propane and mebpy = 4,4'-dimethyl-2,2'-bipyridine). These compounds were characterized by means of elemental analysis, thermal analysis (TG/DTA), vibrational spectroscopy (IR and Raman) and had their structures determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. Compound 1 consists of CuN4 coordination spheres with bpp ligands in the unusual GG conformation coordinated in bridges between CuII centers to form a wavelike 1-D coordination polymer. Two one-dimensional copper(II) coordination polymers with different dissymmetrical N,N′- bis(substituted)oxamide ligands were synthesized, namely {[Cu(dmaepox)(dabt)]pic·HO} (1) and {[Cu(dmapob)(dabt)]NO·0.6HO} (2), where Hdmaepox and Hdmapob stand for N-(2-carboxylatophenyl)- N′-[3-(methylamino)propyl]oxamidate and N-(2-carboxylatophenyl)- N′-[3-(dimethylamino)propyl]oxamidate, respectively, and dabt is 2'2′-diamino-4'4′-bithiazole. Polymer 1 was characterized by elemental analyses, IR and electronic spectra and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The crystal structure reveals that polymer 1 consists of many binuclear copper(II) units bridged by cis-oxamide and carboxylate groups. The two copper(II) ions are located in square-planar and square-pyramidal coordination environments, respectively. The separations of the Cu(II) atoms bridged by oxamide and carboxylate groups are 5.2035(7) and 5.1196(7) Å, respectively. The crystal structure of polymer 2 has been reported in our previous paper. However, its relative properties were not studied. In order to compare the influence of different bridging ligands on the cytotoxicities and DNA-binding properties, the cytotoxicities and reactivities towards DNA of polymers 1 and 2 were investigated. The results suggest that the two polymers can interact with herring sperm DNA in the mode of intercalation with binding affinities following the order of 1 > 2, and this is consistent with their in vitro cytotoxicities. In this paper, we report the synthesis of the ligand and a preliminary characterization of its coordination properties performed by using Zn2+ and Cu2+ as test cations. The high stability constants, determined for the complexes with these metal ions in aqueous solution, the fast kinetic of the complexation reactions as well as the calculated structural features of the complexes are promising prerequisites supporting a successive study on the application of MWCNT-L-Pd and G-L-Pd catalysts. Electrons communicate with each other via the “magpie bridge” made by secondary forces. A series of conjugation ‐ interrupted dipyridyl ‐ linked Te−Fe−Cu carbonyl cluster ‐ incorporated polymers have been synthesized by liquid ‐ assisted grinding. These polymers exhibit surprising semiconducting characteristics with ultra ‐ narrow bandgaps and high conductivities, attributed to the through ‐ space electron transport via non ‐ classical C−H⋅⋅⋅O(carbonyl) hydrogen bonds and aromatic C−H⋅⋅⋅π interactions.
