Kadına karşı şiddet ve bu tür şiddetin medyada temsiline dair sorunlar, medyanın bu tür şiddetin önlenmesi konusunda sorunluluk ve görevleri gibi konular, hem akademik platformlarda çokça tartışılmakta, hem de zaman zaman uluslararası ve ulusal yasal düzenlemelere tabi tutulmaktadır. Ancak hem yasal düzenlemelerin, hem araştırmalar ve akademik çalışmaların, hem de medyanın kadına karşı şiddeti tanımlarken çizdikleri çerçeve birbirleri ile oldukça benzer bir çerçeve olup, bunun medyada temsili de dahil olmak üzere bu çerçevenin en genel hattı, kadına “erkekten gelen” şiddet biçimindedir. Bu çalışmada medyanın çeşitli mecralarından örneklerle kadına karşı şiddet konusunda çizilen bu çerçevenin sınırlılıkları tartışılmış, bu çerçeveye, kadına kadından gelen şiddetin de dahil edilmesi gerektiği, bu olgunun da incelenmesi için en uygun platformlardan birinin medya olduğu düşüncesi ileri sürülmüştür. Yöntem olarak betimsel analiz yöntemi kullanılmış, konu herhangi bir zaman kısıtlaması gözetilmeden reklamlar, diziler ve yarışma programları gibi televizyon içerikleri ile sosyal medya, sinema filmleri gibi geniş bir yelpazedeki medya içerikleri üzerinden örneklerle tartışılmıştır.

Past studies that have analyzed fear of victimization using samples composed of men and women have most frequently controlled for the effect of gender. This study not only controls for the effect of gender, but also examines how the predictors of fear of victimization may vary across gender. To do so, separate regression models for men and women were estimated and the corresponding z tests were calculated for the purpose of analyzing whether the differences between genders were significant. The results showed that women scored higher on the general fear of crime victimization scale, as well as for fear of becoming victims of each of the specific crimes under study. Religiosity had an equally significant effect on men and women’s fear of victimization. Also, younger participants were more likely to fear being victims in the cases of both men and women, although this effect was even more pronounced among women. In addition, respondents’ fear of victimization differed across gender based on sexual orientation. Finally, the results showed a few variables (political orientation and sexual victimization) that were only significant in the case of women, but not of men. The findings of this study confirm that fear of victimization and its predictors vary between women and men.

It is a matter of questioning the status of the image and its relationship with past and present cultures, of showing the mechanism of negative hyperbole that serves as a pretext for the antithesis upon which Western rational thought is based. Baseado nos estudos de Gilbert Durand, este artigo analisa a matriz arquetípica do imaginário comunicacional própria às nossas culturas contemporâneas. Trata-se de questionar o estatuto da imagem e a sua relação com as culturas passadas e presentes, de mostrar o mecanismo da hipérbole negativa que serve de pretexto à antítese sobre a qual se apóia o pensamento racional ocidental.
