Background: Genome-scale metabolic models (GEMs) serve as effective tools for understanding cellular phenotypes and predicting engineering targets in the development of industrial strain. Enzyme-constrained genome-scale metabolic models (ecGEMs) have emerged as a valuable advancement, providing more accurate predictions and unveiling new engineering targets compared to models lacking enzyme constraints. In 2022, a stoichiometric GEM, iDL1450, was reconstructed for the industrially significant fungus Myceliophthora thermophila. To enhance the GEM's performance, an ecGEM was developed for M. thermophila in this study. Results: Initially, the model iDL1450 underwent refinement and updates, resulting in a new version named iYW1475. These updates included adjustments to biomass components, correction of gene-protein-reaction (GPR) rules, and a consensus on metabolites. Subsequently, the first ecGEM for M. thermophila was constructed using machine learning-based kcat data predicted by TurNuP within the ECMpy framework. During the construction, three versions of ecGEMs were developed based on three distinct kcat collection methods, namely AutoPACMEN, DLKcat and TurNuP. After comparison, the ecGEM constructed using TurNuP-predicted kcat values performed better in several aspects and was selected as the definitive version of ecGEM for M. thermophila (ecMTM). Comparing ecMTM to iYW1475, the solution space was reduced and the growth simulation results more closely resembled realistic cellular phenotypes. Metabolic adjustment simulated by ecMTM revealed a trade-off between biomass yield and enzyme usage efficiency at varying glucose uptake rates. Notably, hierarchical utilization of five carbon sources derived from plant biomass hydrolysis was accurately captured and explained by ecMTM. Furthermore, based on enzyme cost considerations, ecMTM successfully predicted reported targets for metabolic engineering modification and introduced some new potential targets for chemicals produced in M. thermophila. Conclusions: In this study, the incorporation of enzyme constraint to iYW1475 not only improved prediction accuracy but also broadened the model's applicability. This research demonstrates the effectiveness of integrating of machine learning-based kcat data in the construction of ecGEMs especially in situations where there is limited measured enzyme kinetic parameters for a specific organism. Purpose: This study, a conceptual paper, aims an answer the question, how significant cluster ambidexterity is for the resilience of individual clusters. Design/methodology/approach: The authors draw up an abductive synopsis of empirical information and relevant theoretical sources. A case study is used to illustrate some of the findings. Findings: The results of the analysis show that the ambidexterity of a cluster can contribute to its resilience when adverse external developments arise. Ambidexterity proves to be simultaneously a common strategy of key cluster actors and a mechanism for coping with critical situations and developments that can be activated by the cluster actors and may – eventually – lead to cluster resilience. While ambidexterity does not guarantee cluster survival, it can contribute significantly to their economic resilience under adverse conditions. Research limitations/implications: The concept is developed on a limited empirical basis and would need to be tested and deepened by comparing a wide range of case studies from different clusters. Practical implications: A better understanding of the importance of ambidexterity for the development of industrial clusters contributes to a better fine-tuning of cluster support policies. The rapid growth of industry, urban areas, and populations has substantially increased waste production worldwide. The inadequacy of robust waste management systems and limited resources poses significant challenges for many emerging economies, including Bangladesh, resulting in environmental contamination. Despite numerous academic studies on sustainable waste management, there is a noticeable gap in the literature concerning identifying, evaluating, and modeling critical risks associated with adopting sustainable municipal waste management systems, particularly in emerging economies like Bangladesh. This study, therefore, aims to fill this gap by identifying, categorizing, and assessing the crucial risks in implementing sustainable municipal waste management systems. Through an extensive review of existing literature and validation with expert feedback, this study employs a fuzzy synthetic evaluation method-based framework to prioritize the identified risks. The study calculates the probability of occurrence and degree of impact values to provide decision-makers with insights into the severity of different risk categories, aiding in case-by-case attention. Scores assigned on a 1 to 5 scale range from 2.59 to 4.14 for the various risk categories. Notably, "Industrial challenges related'' and "Community and infrastructure requirements related'' emerge as the most significant risk categories among those analyzed. This study contributes to the existing literature by employing fuzzy synthetic evaluation, a methodology rarely used to determine critical risks in municipal waste management. This study investigates the positive coupling between the sports industry and tourism, exploring the ways to promote their interconnection. Under state guidance, the integration of sports industry services is facilitated to attract sports culture and tourism fairs, leveraging regional economic development advantages to enhance the industrial market appeal. The emerging leisure consumption mode of sports tourism injects vitality into the economy, fostering the core sports service industry. The coupling of the education and tourism sectors is strategically aligned with long-term national policies. Using IoT technology, this paper employs a grey relational analysis to assess the coupling between the sports industry and tourism, revealing a significant correlation. Experimental results demonstrate a positive coupling trend, likened to conjoined twins with a natural material basis and technical support. This coupling not only aligns with industry trends but also resonates with the "environmental protection era," "green era," and "ecological era," marking a pivotal aspect of industrial development. Mytilus edulis is a commercially and ecologically important species found along the east coast of the United States. Ecologically, M. edulis improves water quality through filtration feeding and provides habitat formation and coastal protection through reef formation. Like many marine calcifiers, ocean warming, and acidification are a growing threat to these organisms—impacting their morphology and function. Museum collections are useful in assessing long-term environmental impacts on organisms in a natural multi-stressor environment, where acclimation and adaptation can be considered. Using the American Museum of Natural History collections ranging from the early 1900s until now, we show that shell porosity changes through time. Shells collected today are significantly more porous than shells collected in the 1960s and, at some sites, than shells collected from the early 1900s. The disparity between porosity changes matches well with the warming that occurred over the last 130 years in the north Atlantic suggesting that warming is causing porosity changes. However, more work is required to discern local environmental impacts and to fully identify porosity drivers. Since, porosity is known to affect structural integrity, porosity increasing through time could have negative consequences for mussel reef structural integrity and hence habitat formation and storm defenses. Despite their promises of wealth creation, productivity increase, and improved living circumstances in Africa, industrialization, and foreign direct investment (FDI) inflows have the potential to endanger the continent’s climate, particularly given the nature of energy intensity and associated emissions connected with their expansion. Thus, this study empirically examined the extent to which industrialization and FDI inflows contribute to the predictability of climate change in Africa, focusing on the top 10 greenhouse gas (GHG) emitting countries on the continent with data spanning from 1990 to 2023. Employing a bias-adjusted ordinary least square estimation technique, we considered both in-sample and out-of-sample forecasts that include several scenario analyses. We reveal both industrialization and FDI inflows as significant predictors of climate change in Africa but with varying degrees of environmental threats. This provides the foundation for, among other things, the suggestion that African continental and sub-regional bodies consider the need for differences in climate commitment strategies across the region based on the varying nature and magnitude of manufacturing intensity and FDI inflows, as well as associated GHG emissions and the nature of climate change vulnerability. Accurately measuring industrial spatial agglomeration patterns is crucial for promoting regional economic development. However, few studies have considered both agglomeration degrees and cluster locations of industries. Moreover, the traditional multi-scale cluster location mining (MCLM) method still has limitations in terms of accuracy, parameter setting, calculation efficiency, etc. This study proposes a new framework for analyzing industrial spatial agglomeration patterns, which uses the Duranton and Overman (DO) index for estimating agglomeration degrees and a newly developed local DO (LDO) index for mining cluster locations. The MCLM-LDO method was proposed by incorporating the LDO index into the MCLM method, and it was validated via comparisons with three baseline methods based on two synthetic datasets. The results proved that the MCLM-LDO method can achieve accuracies of 0.945 and 1 with computational times of 0.15 s and 0.11 s on two datasets, which are superior to existing MCLM methods. The proposed framework was further applied to analyze the spatial agglomeration patterns of the industry of computer, communication, and other electronic equipment manufacturing in Guangdong Province, China. The results showed that the framework gives a more holistic perspective of spatial agglomeration patterns, which can serve as more meaningful references for industrial sustainable development. The global surge in environmental pollution, largely attributed to industrialization, has fueled a pressing need for sustainable solutions. In response, the construction sector is increasingly focusing on bio-based materials such as hemp, recognized for its low environmental footprint and prominent carbon-negative quality. As designers, housebuilders, and an environmentally conscious society pivot towards ecological alternatives to standard building materials, hempcrete emerges as a promising candidate. As a composite material mainly made from hemp hurd/shiv, water, and lime, hempcrete offers the ability to sequester carbon long after its incorporation into structures. As a result, the hemp cultivation process—which can be completed within less than four months—ensures that more carbon is absorbed during production and deployment than emitted, e.g., per one study, sequestration on the order of 300 kg of CO2 per m3 of hempcrete. In comparison to concrete, hempcrete offers a more sustainable footprint, given its recyclability post life cycle. This state-of-the-art review paper delves deep into different aspects of hempcrete, summarizing its multifaceted attributes, particularly its compressive strength. Based on the study conducted, the paper also suggests strategies to augment this strength, thereby transitioning hempcrete from a non-load-bearing material to one capable of shouldering significant weight. As architects and designers consistently strive to align their projects with high ecological standards, focusing not just on aesthetic appeal but also environmental compatibility, hempcrete becomes an increasingly fitting solution for the future of construction. China's industrial sector generally relies on electricity as its main source of energy, and industrial production can be affected if there are problems with the electricity supply. In order to deal with the uncertain electricity supply and achieve the "dual carbon" target, the industrial sector needs to take effective measures to enhance carbon total factor productivity (CTFP). We use the biennial Luenberger productivity index (BLPI) to try to provide strategies for low-carbon industrial development in China. The results indicate that the overall CTFP of China's industrial sector showed an increasing trend from 2006 to 2019. Technology change was the main contributor to the change in CTFP, but fluctuations in efficiency change remained a challenge. Differences were observed between the light industry sector (LIS) and the heavy industry sector (HIS) in terms of changes in CTFP, with LIS showing more stable changes and HIS experiencing larger fluctuations. Most sub-sectors showed increased CTFP during the sample period. R&D investment and R&D personnel have a positive impact on CTFP, while energy structure is found to hinder CTFP. According to the research results of this study, we offer the corresponding policy implications. This study is the first to explore the balance between low-carbon goals and industrial production from the perspective of improving CTFP, providing a new viewpoint on the contributions of technological innovation to solving socio-economic issues. Purpose: This study has incorporated competitiveness by considering it a significant factor behind determining as well as moderating industrial value added in the environmental Kuznets curve (EKC) framework. This study aims to explore the moderating role of competitiveness policy in EKC with an aim to promote business led sustainability at national level. Design/methodology/approach: Considering the environmental deterioration aspect of industrialization, this study tests the existence of EKC for SAARC countries using the data from 1996 to 2021 using second-generation static panel data model. Findings: Estimated results have validated that moderating effect is responsible for improving environmental sustainability in SAARC countries. Furthermore, population density is responsible for increasing while trade openness is responsible for decreasing carbon emissions. Originality/value: Higher industrial activities are a symbol of upward-moving economic growth. But its other impact is in the form of environmental deterioration. With the development of industrial demand, precise identification of system models is currently required in the field of industrial control, which limits the whale search algorithm. In response to the fact that whale optimization algorithms are prone to falling into local optima and the identification of important Hammerstein models ignores the issue of noise outliers in actual industrial environments, this study improves the whale algorithm and constructs a Hammerstein model identification strategy for nonlinear systems under heavy-tailed noise using the improved whale algorithm. Results showed that it had a lower rank average and an average success rate of 95.65%. It found the global optimum when the number of iterations reached around 150 and had faster convergence speed and accuracy. In identifying Hammerstein model under heavy-tailed noise, the average prediction recognition accuracy of the improved whale algorithm was 92.38%, the determination coefficient was 0.89, the percentage fitting error was 0.03, and the system error was 0.02. China's rural revitalization strategy has expanded non-agricultural employment opportunities for rural residents. This has directly raised farmers' incomes and household expenditures, which in turn has contributed to the upgrading of industrial structure. Using provincial data for 2012–2021, our study investigates how this employment transition affects industrial development. The effect of rural residents' consumption expenditures on this relationship is also explored through a linkage model to help measure the extent of the impact. This study further explores the regional differences in this effect and its robustness. The findings suggest that non-farm employment significantly contributes to industrial structural upgrading. However, this effect is not consistent across regions. Moreover, rural residents' consumption plays a pivotal role in this relationship. Governments should therefore encourage more non-farm jobs, stimulate domestic demand and use rural consumption as a key growth catalyst, especially after the demographic dividend disappears. Context and background Availability and accessibility of suitable land are crucial factors for attracting and sustaining land-based investment. Access to land has become a significant concern across various regions and countries in the 21st century, As the world's population continues to grow, so does the demand for land to accommodate urbanization and land-based investment as agriculture and industrial development increases. This escalating pressure on land resources poses numerous challenges, such as overlapping land claims, and conflicts over land rights. In response, different societies have developed a myriad of strategies to gain access to land, influenced by diverse legal, and socio-economic factors. Goal and Objectives: The study aims to analyze current strategies used, impacts and determine the optimal strategy that meets the needs of investors and local communities. Methodology: A Mixed-methods approach was adopted, where both interviews and questionnaires were used. A total of 96 questionnaires were distributed to investors and local people but only 79 qualified responses were good for analysis of this study. The response rate obtained on the distributed questionnaire was 82% of the target population. This sample was obtained using non-probability sampling techniques whereby both snowball and purposive sampling were adopted for the selected sample. Results: Findings reveal that strategies observed were leasing (54%), encompassing individual land leases and government-allocated leases through (TIC). Land purchases constituted 34% while joint ventures accounted for 8%. Likert scale responses highlighted the negative impacts of the strategies, with 90% of participants strongly agreeing that purchasing and leasing led to conflicts, insecurity of tenure, and land grabbing. Similarly, 69% agreed that government allocation resulted in unfair compensation and competition over land resources, favoring investors and leaving limited resources for local communities. Additionally, the analysis reveals that leasing under government allocation is the optimal land access strategy. With the development of nanotechnology and confronting the problems of traditional pharmaceutical formulations in treating lung diseases, inhalable nano-formulations have attracted interest. Inhalable nano-formulations for treating lung diseases allow for precise pulmonary drug delivery, overcoming physiological barriers, improving aerosol lung deposition rates, and increasing drug bioavailability. They are expected to solve the difficulties faced in treating lung diseases. However, limited success has been recorded in the industrialization translation of inhalable nano-formulations. Only one relevant product has been approved by the FDA to date, suggesting that there are still many issues to be resolved in the clinical application of inhalable nano-formulations. These systems are characterized by a dependence on inhalation devices, while the adaptability of device formulation is still inconclusive, which is the most important issue impeding translational research. In this review, we categorized various inhalable nano-formulations, summarized the advantages of inhalable nano-formulations over conventional inhalation formulations, and listed the inhalable nano-formulations undergoing clinical studies. We focused on the influence of inhalation devices on nano-formulations and analyzed their adaptability. After extensive analysis of the drug delivery mechanisms, technical processes, and limitations of different inhalation devices, we concluded that vibrating mesh nebulizers might be most suitable for delivering inhalable nano-formulations, and related examples were introduced to validate our view. Industrial development can bring huge economic benefits to the country and society. However, it has also caused serious environmental pollution, leading to serious health problems and medical burdens for people, and is often accompanied by the emission of polluting gases. Many companies specify that masks must be worn at work to prevent the inhalation of harmful gases. Quickly detecting whether workers are wearing masks has emerged as a topic of some importance. However, existing face detection networks have limited detection accuracy and considerably reduced performance for masked faces. Hence, most state-of-the-art face mask detection technologies are based on deep learning. In this study, we developed a new feature extraction module called Attention Residual Ghost Module based on attention mechanisms and residual structure. To improve performance, we construct CSP-ARG and ARG-PANert. We then fused attention between the two to obtain a new type of lightweight face mask detection model. The results of an experimental evaluation of the performance of our proposed approach on the public AIZOO and FMDD datasets showed that it achieved accuracy values of 93.4% and 89.3%, respectively, in terms of mAP. Resource-based regions support national economic development and are essential sources of basic energy and raw materials. In the post-pandemic era, however, there are practical situations to deal with, such as a fractured industrial chain, a weaker industrial structure, and a sharp reduction in economic benefits. Based on data collected from 68 cities in China, from 2010 to 2021, with 816 observations, this paper explores the industrial development process of resource-based regions in China and the change in the toughness of the industrial structure under the impact of COVID-19. The paper studies and analyzes industrial development trends, industrial structure toughness, and spatial spillover effects. The methods used are the Markov chain model and the Industrial Structure Advancement Index. By building the spatial Dubin model, the paper analyzes the spatial spillover effect of regional industrial development. It decomposes the spillover effect using the partial differential model based on regression. The results show that, during the study period, the comprehensive development level of industries in resource-based regions in China was slowly improving and tended to stabilize after entering the post-pandemic era. The evolution of an advanced industrial structure is significantly heterogeneous among regions, and each region has different toughness. The impact of COVID-19 has reduced the toughness of China's resource-based regions' industrial structure. The spatial spillover effect of regional industrial development is significant. Labor force, technology input, and industrial-structure optimization have different impacts on the industrial development of neighboring regions. In the post-pandemic era, China has used new management methods for more innovation. In order to achieve low-carbon, environmental protection, and sustainable development of resources, realize the rapid recovery of the toughness of industrial structure in China's resource-based cities, and reduce the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, China proposes to expand the supply of resources, improve the allocation of resources, optimize the direction, promote the rational flow and efficient aggregation of various factors, and enhance the impetus for innovation and development. Industrial development has led to the widespread production of toxic materials, including carcinogenic, mutagenic, and toxic chemicals. Even with strict management and control measures, such materials still pose threats to human health. Therefore, convenient chemical sensors are required for toxic chemical monitoring, such as optical, electrochemical, nanomaterial-based, and biological-system-based sensors. Many existing and new chemical sensors have been developed, as well as new methods based on novel technologies for detecting toxic materials. The emergence of material sciences and advanced technologies for fabrication and signal-transducing processes has led to substantial improvements in the sensing elements for target recognition and signal-transducing elements for reporting interactions between targets and sensing elements. Many excellent reviews have effectively summarized the general principles and applications of different types of chemical sensors. Therefore, this review focuses on chemical sensor advancements in terms of the sensing and signal-transducing elements, as well as more recent achievements in chemical sensors for toxic material detection. Simple Summary: A primary cause of heavy metal pollution in the environment is human economic activity associated with increased industrialisation and urbanisation, agricultural development, transport, and energy production. The present study determines the degree of contamination by cadmium (Cd), a heavy metal, based on its concentrations in the organs of animals living in regions of Poland. Our findings indicate that Cd is present in the highest concentrations in the southern regions of Poland, where the mining, energy, metallurgical, and steel industries are located. Surprisingly, high Cd concentrations were also found in the northeastern region, which is generally considered to be unpolluted. The aim of this study was to determine the concentration of cadmium (Cd) in the organs of game animals from areas with different degrees of industrialisation and to assess its intake following the consumption of the livers of these animals. The material for this study consisted of liver and kidney samples taken from roe deer (Capreolus capreolus), red deer (Cervus elaphus), and wild boar (Sus scrofa) from five regions differing in land use and industrialisation. Compared to the kidneys, the liver was an indicator of the current state of the environment and Cd intake, while the kidney was used to assess the long-term accumulation of Cd in the body. The cadmium concentration in the samples was determined by inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry. The cadmium concentrations of the organs were found to vary according to geographical location, with the highest levels being observed in Southern Poland, i.e., areas characterised by the highest degree of industrialisation and the presence of heavy industry. However, high Cd concentrations were also reported in the northeastern region. Examples of excessive cadmium levels in the kidneys were noted in all tested regions. Cd intake by humans was evaluated by calculating the estimated daily cadmium intake, and this was compared with the tolerable weekly intake (TWI). Improving energy efficiency is vital for addressing climate change and reducing carbon emissions in emerging economies. Financial development (FD) is crucial for economic growth, and its environmental impact and the adjustment of the industrial structure (IND) is a crucial lever in China's economic transition period. This study explored the relationship between FD, IND, and China's green total factor productivity (GTFEE) from 2000 to 2020 using the super-efficiency SBM-undesirable model, which estimates China's GTFEE. The ARDL results suggest that FD and IND enhance GTFEE in the long term, with FD promoting GTFEE by facilitating industrial structure adjustments. The Dumitrescu–Hurlin panel causality tests supported this finding. The QRPD panel quantile regression and heterogeneity analysis revealed significant heterogeneity in the effects. With increasing GTFEE, FD exerts a restraining effect, gradually weakening and transitioning into a promoting effect, while the IND consistently plays a promoting role. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Social sustainability is a global necessity because of environmental and economic uncertainty. This issue needs the foremost solution, and for this purpose, researchers' and policymakers' emphasis is required. Thereby, the present paper investigates sustainable energy technologies such as solar and hydroelectric, eco-innovation and EG and their impact on social sustainability in China. The study also used industrialization and inflation as the control variables in the time span of 1981 to 2020. The present study also applied the Dynamic Auto-regressive Distributed Lags (DARDL) model to evaluate the association between the outlined variables. The results indicated that sustainable energy technologies such as solar and hydroelectric, eco-innovation, economic growth, industrialization and inflation are significantly associated with social sustainability in China. The pulp and paper industry is critical to global industrial and economic development. Recently, India's pulp and paper industries have been facing severe competitive challenges. The challenges have impaired the environmental performance and resulted in the closure of several operations. Assessment and prediction of the performance of the Indian pulp and paper industry using various parameters is a critical task for researchers. This study proposes a framework for performance assessment and prediction based on Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA), Artificial Neural Networks, and Deep Learning (DL) to assist industry administration and decision-making. We presented a case study based on eight industries to demonstrate the methodology's applicability. This study analyses and predicts industry performance based on sample data observations over 30 years. The result suggests the DEA-DL-based efficiency prediction has an overall MSE of 0.08 compared with the actual efficiency. Furthermore, the efficiency rankings are compared between the three techniques. The results suggest that the integrated DEA-DL method is primarily accurate in most scenarios with the actual values. The study deployed two multivariate linear models in estimating the nexus of economic growth, technological development and in-country utilization of natural gas, using annual time series data on five variables - real gross domestic product per capita (RGDPC), natural gas consumption (NGC), technological development (TECH), trade openness (TOP), and industrialization (IND) - from 1986 to 2019. Using the method of error correction modeling (ECM), it is observed that technological development, gas consumption, trade openness, and industrialization have growth-stimulating effects on economic activities in Nigeria. The study further revealed that technological development, trade openness, and level of industrialization positively influenced natural gas consumption in Nigeria during the period. Based on our findings, we sustain the argument that (i) gas utilization and technological development are strong predictors of economic growth, and (ii) technological development greatly determines the level of natural gas consumption in the economy. We therefore recommend design and implementation of policies that promote research and development so as to ramp up technological innovation and development initiatives towards achievement of planned economic growth. In addition, improvements in technological development and convergence of global economies due to liberalization policies demands commensurate infrastructural expansion of natural gas production to reduce or eliminate possible mismatch between production and consumption of natural gas profiles. Carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS) technology is an important means to effectively reduce carbon emissions from fossil energy combustion and industrial processes. With the crisis of climate change, CCUS has attracted increasing attention in the world. CCUS technology as developed rapidly in China is technically feasible for large-scale application in various industries. The R&D and demonstration of CCUS in China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation (Sinopec) are summarized, including carbon capture, carbon transport, CO2 enhanced energy recovery (including oil, gas, and water, etc.), and comprehensive utilization of CO2. Based on the source-sink matching characteristics in China, two CCUS industrialization scenarios are proposed, namely, CO2-EOR, CO2-driven enhanced oil recovery using centralized carbon sinks in East China and CO2-EWR, CO2-driven enhanced water recovery (EWR) using centralized carbon sources from the coal chemical industry in West China. Finally, a CCUS industrialization path from Sinopec's perspective is suggested, using CO2-EOR as the major means and CO2-EWR, CO2-driven enhanced gas recovery (CO2-EGR) and other utilization methods as important supplementary means. β-Farnesene is an advanced molecule with promising applications in agriculture, the cosmetics industry, pharmaceuticals, and bioenergy. To supplement the shortcomings of rational design in the development of high-producing β-farnesene strains, a Metabolic Pathway Design-Fermentation Test-Metabolomic Analysis-Target Mining experimental cycle was designed. In this study, by over-adding 20 different amino acids/nucleobases to induce fluctuations in the production of β-farnesene, the changes in intracellular metabolites in the β-farnesene titer-increased group were analyzed using non-targeted metabolomics. Differential metabolites that were detected in each experimental group were selected, and their metabolic pathways were located. Based on these differential metabolites, targeted strain gene editing and culture medium optimization were performed. The overexpression of the coenzyme A synthesis-related gene pantothenate kinase (PanK) and the addition of four mixed water-soluble vitamins in the culture medium increased the β-farnesene titer in the shake flask to 1054.8 mg/L, a 48.5% increase from the initial strain. In the subsequent fed-batch fermentation, the β-farnesene titer further reached 24.6 g/L. This work demonstrates the tremendous application value of metabolomics analysis for the development of industrial recombinant strains and the optimization of fermentation conditions. With the development of the digital economy, industrial structure upgrading plays an important role in realizing high-quality development. Exploiting the quasi-natural experimental setting provided by the Big Data Comprehensive Pilot Zone (BDCPZ) policy in China in 2016, this study evaluates the impacts of the BDCPZ policies on regional industrial structure upgrading using a combination of propensity score matching and difference-in-differences (PSM-DID) with panel data of 30 regions for the period 2008–2021. The results are as follows: (1) BDCPZ policies significantly promote regional industrial structure upgrading. This finding holds after conducting the placebo test and replacing explained variables. (2) BDCPZ policies enhance upgrading through technological innovation and financial deepening. (3) Heterogeneity analysis shows that the promotional effect of BDCPZ policies on industrial structure upgrading is more obvious in economically developed regions, megacities, and east-central regions; overall, regions with high industrialization benefit more. These findings have important implications: First, they provide new empirical evidence from the perspective of policy evaluation on how the digital economy affects industrial structure upgrading. Second, this study sheds light on the mechanism underlying this relationship, helping us understand how the digital economy can further affect the development of the industrial structure. Third, the policy effect is heterogenous, providing a scientific basis for the government to formulate differentiated implementation policies for different regions. Acoustic comfort is one of the essential needs for people to live in calm and comfort in dwellings. Because of technological and industrial development, noise pollution became one of the big dangers that impacts human psychologically and physiologically. The historical neighborhoods in Sulaimani City are affected by this technological advancement, the demolishing of traditional houses and changed to commercial has increased the environmental noise. Therefore, this research aims to evaluate residents' satisfaction in traditional houses in term of acoustic conditions, also aims to investigate if the design characteristics of traditional houses have role in providing acoustic comfort, and to promote traditional designs in today's architecture. The absence of a practical study evaluating acoustic conditions in traditional houses and their impact on inhabitants' satisfaction in Sulaimani city formed the main problem of the research. The results from the questionnaire and the in situ measurements have shown that, although most of these old houses were demolished and changed to commercial areas, the acoustic environment inside most houses is comfortable and most inhabitants are satisfied with the acoustic conditions. Industry 4.0 brings with it irreversible transformation processes hitherto unknown to the world. The need for business transformation becomes obvious. The introduction of new technologies changes all aspects of business activities: structure, systems, personnel, procedures and rules, goals and objectives, corporate culture, and relationships with other elements of business: suppliers, customers, and other stakeholders. Often it is a question of changing the business model, which fundamentally changes all the principles of the company's activity. In this context there is a serious question: what change strategy to apply for its successful implementation. How will this strategy differ from the usual understanding of strategy and what are the factors of its success? Therefore, the purpose of this study is to justify an approach to change strategy in the context of instability, dynamism and fragility associated with Industrialization 4.0. The hypothesis of the study is the assumption that strategy in the classical view can no longer produce such an effect and therefore the new digital strategy is fundamentally different from previous approaches. The methods of this study are: the analysis of concepts and synthesis of theories of change management and strategic management, also an empirical study was conducted to identify the peculiarities of change implementation in small and medium-sized enterprises in the Republic of Moldova, after which conclusions and recommendations were substantiated in the field of changing the approach to change strategy in these companies. In response to the underutilization of energy and insufficient flexible operation capability of rural energy supply systems in China, this study proposes an optimal dispatch approach for a rural multi-energy supply system (RMESS) considering virtual energy storage (VES). First, to enable the flexible utilization of rural biomass resources and the thermal inertia of residential building envelopes, this study constructed VES-I and VES-II models that describe electrical-thermal and electrical-gas coupling from an electrical viewpoint. Subsequently, an RMESS model encompassing these two types of VES was formulated. This model delineates the intricate interplay of multi-energy components within the RMESS framework and facilitates the precise assessment of the adjustable potential for optimizing RMESS operations. Based on the above models, a day-ahead optimal dispatch model for an RMESS considering a VES is proposed to achieve optimal economic performance while ensuring efficient energy allocation. Duplex stainless steel is a unique material for cast products, the use of which is possible in various fields. With the same chemical composition, melting, casting and heat treatment technology, pitting and crevice corrosion were observed at the interphase boundaries of non-metallic inclusions and the steel matrix. To increase the cleanliness of steel, it is necessary to carefully select the technology for deoxidizing with titanium or aluminum, as the most common deoxidizers, and the technology for modifying with rare earth metals. In this work, a comprehensive analysis of the thermodynamic data in the literature on the behavior of oxides and sulfides in this highly alloyed system under consideration was performed. Based on this analysis, a thermodynamic model was developed to describe their behavior in liquid and solidified duplex stainless steels. The critical concentrations at which the existence of certain phases is possible during the deoxidation of DSS with titanium, aluminum and modification by rare earth metals, including the simultaneous contribution of lanthanum and cerium, was determined. Experimental ingots were produced, the cleanliness of experimental steels was assessed, and the key metric parameters of non-metallic inclusions were described. In steels deoxidized using titanium, clusters of inclusions with a diameter of 84 microns with a volume fraction of 0.066% were formed, the volume fraction of which was decreased to 0.01% with the subsequent addition of aluminum. The clusters completely disappeared when REMs were added. The reason for this behavior of inclusions was interpreted using thermodynamic modeling and explained by the difference in temperature at which specific types of NMIs begin to form. A comparison of experimental and calculated results showed that the proposed model adequately describes the process of formation of non-metallic inclusions in the steel under consideration and can be used for the development of industrial technology. Economic developments affect urban land-use changes. Using Lefebvre's production of (urban) space as a conceptual framework, this study investigated the industrialisation process and its urban spatial outcomes in three cities (Galan, Dukem, and Bishoftu) along the southern outlet of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia's capital. Landsat images were used to quantify the changing patterns of the three cities from the period 2006 to 2021. Interviews with key informants and document analysis were used to supplement these findings. The analysis reveals that in Addis Ababa-Bishoftu economic growth corridor, the unruly urban land-use changes have become a serious issue, challenging the sustainable development of cities. The study confirms that the proximity to Addis Ababa has contributed to the urbanisation process and urban corridor formation through investment expansion. The sustainable development of the sports industry has garnered extensive attention worldwide. In this study, after a rigorous explanation of the connotation of the sports industry development resilience coefficient (SIDRC), the Topsis model and exploratory spatial data analysis were comprehensively employed to evaluate and visualize the SIDRC of 285 cities in China. Additionally, a spatial econometric model was constructed to explore the influencing factors of SIDRC. The major conclusions drawn from this study are as follow: (1) While the SIDRC has improved significantly over the study period, it still remains overall at a low level of resilience with a widening gap between cities. (2) A strong spatial imbalance exists in the distribution of SIDRC, with coastal regions demonstrating greater resilience compared to the central and western regions, and provincial capital cities faring better than other cities. (3) Policy support index, economic development level, structural diversity of the sports industry, and social participation play crucial roles in promoting SIDRC. Finally, social participation has a positive impact on SIDRC in neighboring cities by facilitating resource sharing, market expansion, and extending the industrial chain. The paper concludes by offering recommendations such as increasing the construction of sports markets and public participation, which can optimize the layout of the sports industry and enhance industrial development resilience. Adaptive laboratory evolution (ALE) is a technique for the selection of strains with better phenotypes by long-term culture under a specific selection pressure or growth environment. Because ALE does not require detailed knowledge of a variety of complex and interactive metabolic networks, and only needs to simulate natural environmental conditions in the laboratory to design a selection pressure, it has the advantages of broad adaptability, strong practicability, and more convenient transformation of strains. In addition, ALE provides a powerful method for studying the evolutionary forces that change the phenotype, performance, and stability of strains, resulting in more productive industrial strains with beneficial mutations. In recent years, ALE has been widely used in the activation of specific microbial metabolic pathways and phenotypic optimization, the efficient utilization of specific substrates, the optimization of tolerance to toxic substance, and the biosynthesis of target products, which is more conducive to the production of industrial strains with excellent phenotypic characteristics. In this paper, typical examples of ALE applications in the development of industrial strains and the research progress of this technology are reviewed, followed by a discussion of its development prospects. The realization of coupling coordination between digitalization and traditional industrial upgrading in the Yellow River Basin holds significant practical value for promoting high-quality industrial development in the region. In order to assess this coupling coordination, we utilized inter-provincial panel data from nine provinces in the Yellow River Basin, covering the period from 2011 to 2020. Through the application of a coupling coordination degree model, we calculated the degree of coupling coordination and relative development between digitalization and traditional industrial upgrading. Additionally, we conducted a spatial–temporal analysis to identify the characteristics and trends of digitalization and traditional industrial upgrading. Furthermore, we constructed a panel VAR model to examine the interactive relationship between these two factors. The findings are as follows: (1) overall, over the study period, the degree of coupling coordination between digitalization and traditional industrial upgrading in the Yellow River Basin transitioned from a disordered state to a run-in stage. The corresponding development type changed from a low steady state to a co-existence of low and medium steady states. Notably, the levels of digitalization, traditional industrial upgrading, and coupling coordination all exhibited a gradual increase, while the relative development degree declined. (2) The coupling coordination degree between digitalization and traditional industrial upgrading in the Yellow River Basin demonstrated significant regional variation. Provinces displaying a "high–high" agglomeration distribution and "low–low" agglomeration distribution were concentrated in the middle and lower reaches, as well as the upper reaches, of the Yellow River. Furthermore, there was a positive spatial autocorrelation between these regions. Poverty reduction is considered as the top priority of governments and international institutions. At the same time income inequality is a far-reaching concern especially in emerging nations. US former president even labelled income inequality and poverty are the challenges of our times. Theoretically there are different views on the impact of microfinancing and financial inclusion on income inequality and poverty, hence, it is interesting to evaluate these estimations in Vietnamese context from 1986 to 2020. The researchers have applied the Bayesian Auto-regressive Distributed Lags (BARDL) model and exposed that microfinancing, financial inclusion, educational loans increase income equality and reduces poverty. Based on the evidences, the paper implies that government institutions must focus on microfinancing and financial inclusion aspects to facilitate poor and boost prosperity which ultimately brings income equality. Highlights: Alkyl-tailored Y-SMAs named YR-SeNF series with near-infrared absorption, different molecular crystallinity and self-assembly abilities are developed. The related organic solar cells (OSCs) with an active layer processed from halogen-free solvents and spin-coating-free technologies achieve a ~ 19% efficiency. Ternary OSCs offer a robust operating stability under MPP tracking and well-keep > 80% of the initial efficiency for even over 400 h. Power-conversion-efficiencies (PCEs) of organic solar cells (OSCs) in laboratory, normally processed by spin-coating technology with toxic halogenated solvents, have reached over 19%. However, there is usually a marked PCE drop when the blade-coating and/or green-solvents toward large-scale printing are used instead, which hampers the practical development of OSCs. Here, a new series of N-alkyl-tailored small molecule acceptors named YR-SeNF with a same molecular main backbone are developed by combining selenium-fused central-core and naphthalene-fused end-group. Thanks to the N-alkyl engineering, NIR-absorbing YR-SeNF series show different crystallinity, packing patterns, and miscibility with polymeric donor. The studies exhibit that the molecular packing, crystallinity, and vertical distribution of active layer morphologies are well optimized by introducing newly designed guest acceptor associated with tailored N-alkyl chains, providing the improved charge transfer dynamics and stability for the PM6:L8-BO:YR-SeNF-based OSCs. As a result, a record-high PCE approaching 19% is achieved in the blade-coating OSCs fabricated from a green-solvent o-xylene with high-boiling point. Notably, ternary OSCs offer robust operating stability under maximum-power-point tracking and well-keep > 80% of the initial PCEs for even over 400 h. Our alkyl-tailored guest acceptor strategy provides a unique approach to develop green-solvent and blade-coating processed high-efficiency and operating stable OSCs, which paves a way for industrial development. Chinese industrial heritage is the materialized carrier and historical witness of the evolution of urban spatial structure and industrial development. As an inseparable part of cultural heritage, it has rich historical, social, economic, scientific, technological, and aesthetic value. However, industrial heritage as a value is not suffi ciently acknowledged in the Chinese society. The factories, their activity, and their historical evolution are often disconnected and isolated from the daily life of the cities, being quite an unknown aspect for most citizens. In addition, due to the acceleration of urbanization, many industrial heritages in cities have disappeared. China has spent two decades promoting sustainable development of its industrial heritage, but there is still a lack of knowledge on how to promote sustainable development of industrial heritage through digital education. Based on these findings the paper discusses our research that promotes sustainable development aspects of industrial heritage, and our subsequent work has particularly focussed on associated landscape recovery. It does so by focussing on the particular highly valued heritage case of the Anshan Steel production site in China, and the environmental consequences of the Dagushan Open mine on the landscape. The paper ends with a critical reflection on how a digital tool can help to shape industrial heritage education, appreciation and involvement, and hence foster sustainable development processes. With rapid infrastructure development worldwide, the generation of industrial solid waste (ISW) has substantially increased, causing resource wastage and environmental pollution. Meanwhile, tunnel engineering requires large quantities of grouting material for ground treatment and consolidation. Using ISW as a component in tunnel grouts provides a sustainable solution to both issues. This paper presented a comprehensive review of the recent advancements in tunnel grouting materials using ISW, focusing on their feasibility, mechanical characteristics, and future development directions. Initially, the concept and classification of ISW were introduced, examining its feasibility and advantages as grouting materials in tunnels. Subsequently, various performances of ISW in tunnel grouting materials were summarized to explore the factors influencing mechanical strength, fluidity, durability, and microstructure characteristics. Simultaneously, this review analyzed current research trends and outlines future development directions. Major challenges, including quality assurance, environmental risks, and lack of standardized specifications, are discussed. Future research directions, including multifunctional grouts, integrated waste utilization, and advanced characterization techniques, are suggested to further advance this field. This article discusses the role of manufacturing in the economic growth of Iran using the logarithmic mean Divisia index LMDI) method. The study identifies various drivers of industrialization and their impact on growth, including structural changes (productivity of labor and employment share in industrial factories) and employment scale. The LMDI method is used to analyze with a dataset from Iranian provinces between 1381 and 1399. The results show that industrialization has a positive and significant effect on economic growth, with structural changes having a greater impact than employment scale. Can haze pollution effectively influence local government debt? This study uses data from 285 Chinese cities at the prefecture level or above from 2006 to 2019, and uses annual average sunny days as an instrumental variable to systematically analyze the impact of haze pollution on local government debt from both theoretical and empirical perspectives. The main conclusions of this study are: (1) there is a positive correlation between haze pollution and local government debt; (2) sub-sample analysis suggests that the impact of haze pollution on local government debt shows heterogeneous effects in different cities and at different times; and (3) the analysis of the relevant mechanism suggests that haze pollution can promote local government debt through industrial structure upgrading and green technology innovation. Objective: To show an effective and improving path for training doctors who contribute with their research to strengthen the production chain of the company for its operation and development as a biorefinery so that its business volumes gradually grow. Materials and methods: The research is carried out by articulating the postgraduate activities of the company's professionals who are surpassed in postgraduate master's degrees and doctorates who act as coordinators of projects that bring together the actions of the master's degree and of professionals who are not incorporated into the master's degree courses in a project work system. After several decades of deindustrialisation in the so-called advanced economies, we are seeing a renewed enthusiasm for urban manufacturing in cities, and the integration of production into the city fabric. Yet, small-scale industrial accommodation has long been susceptible to displacement by higher-value land uses--particularly residential and prime office--which directly undermines such aspirations. This article focuses on the case of London and, through a review of planning policy and planning documents, market data, and participant observation in both public and private sector networks, provides evidence for and explores the impacts of a hyper-competitive industrial market that has emerged as an outcome of ongoing limited supply and growing demand in the sector. Although it signals a reversal of displacement dynamics between industrial and residential uses, potentially slowing the loss of industrial land supply, it is also leading to a narrowing of demand and competition within the industrial market that leads to intra-industrial gentrification and threatens smaller manufacturers. The article reveals tensions and limitations in planning approaches that seek to manage industrial land supply and create a diversity of workspace accommodation, as well as a gap between popular policy narratives of industrious cities and manufacturing renaissance, and the coherence of policies to support them. The article concludes with a discussion of future research that could advance policy and other interventions to support manufacturing in cities, to further sustainability and social inclusion agendas. For decades, urban development strategies that privilege narrowly defined "creative" sectors, and anachronistic zoning policies have been the norm in US cities, bringing persistent displacement pressures to manufacturing businesses. However, as cities have faced mounting concerns over inequality, affordability, and diversity, recent scholarship has begun to revisit the importance of urban industry, identifying key contributions that industrial enterprises make to cities. The challenge is finding the right strategies that can preserve, enhance, and potentially expand existing urban industrial space. This article takes up that challenge in three ways: (a) by calling attention to long-standing industrial planning norms that have simultaneously disadvantaged communities of color and undermined awareness of and support for urban manufacturing, (b) by exploring "innovations" that depart from those norms by prioritizing "inclusion" and "visibility" in their planning efforts, and (c) by taking an expansive approach to "planning" that seeks lessons from beyond the formal planning establishment. Drawing from emerging scholarship, research and policy reports, program documents, and interviews with key participants, this article gathers lessons from two industrial planning examples--in San Francisco, CA and Buffalo, NY--that help reveal existing barriers to industrial retention, help reimagine the role and place of manufacturing in the city, and ultimately help to foster more inclusive urban development in the US. Renewed enthusiasm surrounds the potential for urban industry and its contribution to the socioeconomic diversity of cities, despite concerns about the loss of industrial uses, land, and buildings in high-value, post-industrial cities. Yet, industry is often hidden and undervalued, and methodologies to change the culture around nurturing industry in cities have not been well explored. As a first step in moving this agenda forward, this article proposes effective ways to reveal industrial uses and to advocate for policy protections of the land they occupy. It examines how London Metropolitan University's School of Art, Architecture and Design (AAD) Cities action researchers applied their Audit, Reveal and Promote methodology to Southwark, a London borough with a high concentration of urban industry. There are key aspects to revealing industrial economies: collecting accurate data on the ground, showcasing local businesses, building stakeholder networks through mutual trust, and creating a space of possibilities between vertical hierarchical and grassroots power networks to enable stakeholders to participate in urban change. This article presents a methodology for cultural change towards valuing a mix of uses, including industry, to transform land development towards retention and densification of industry. Environmental destruction, social inequalities, geopolitical vulnerability--the limits of the long-time praised paradigm of post-industrial cities and globalised value chains are becoming evident, while calls for (re)localising production in cities are getting increasingly vocal. However, the material implications--i.e., where and in which form manufacturing should concretely take place in cities and the consequences on urban space and relations--are rarely addressed in debates on (re)industrialisation. In this article, we engage with the concept of conspicuous production by combining research on mixed-use zones with sensory methodologies. We focus on the multisensory dimension of urban manufacturing to interrogate the spatial possibilities for production in a small town in Switzerland. Together with a group of graduate students, we apply sensory methods to explore how production shapes urban sensescapes and how these sensescapes affect our relation to production. Our exploratory endeavour provides ideas of how sensory methods can be integrated into urban planning research and practice: we suggest that these methods, which necessarily emphasise subjective experience, can constitute powerful tools if they take into attentive consideration the local political and economic context, including the norms and power relations that shape individual perception. Our study sparks critical questions about conspicuous production and mixed-use zoning and tentatively advances the concept of sensible production: a production that not only is perceptible and can actively be engaged with, but that also shows good sense, makes sense, and focuses on what we need rather than on appearance.
