Photon-magnon coupling, where electromagnetic waves interact with spin waves, and negative refraction, which bends the direction of electromagnetic waves unnaturally, constitute critical foundations and advancements in the realms of optics, spintronics, and quantum information technology. Here, we explore a magnetic-field-controlled, on-off switchable, non-reciprocal negative refractive index within a non-Hermitian photon-magnon hybrid system. By integrating an yttrium iron garnet film with an inverted split-ring resonator, we discover pronounced negative refractive index driven by the system's non-Hermitian properties. This phenomenon exhibits unique non-reciprocal behavior dependent on the signal's propagation direction. Our analytical model sheds light on the crucial interplay between coherent and dissipative coupling, significantly altering permittivity and permeability's imaginary components, crucial for negative refractive index's emergence. This study investigates the effects of incorporating pistachio shell powder and a mixture of Aquilaria agallocha Roxb (AAR) resin with epoxy on the mechanical, dynamic mechanical, thermal, and biodegradability properties of an epoxy composite. Filler loadings ranged from 10 to 35% by volume, in 5% increments. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) revealed a uniform distribution of the hybrid polymer materials, particularly at 30% natural resin content, enhancing the load-bearing capacity of the composites. The addition of pistachio shell powder and AAR resin significantly improved the flexural modulus and strength of the composites. At a filler volume of 35%, the hybrid polymer exhibited a maximum impact resistance of 2,718 J/m2, demonstrating increased energy absorption. Moreover, the hybrid system enhanced the damping factor by up to 30%, suggesting superior dynamic mechanical performance. Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) indicated that the hybrid composites displayed better thermal stability compared to pure epoxy resin. These findings suggest that the combination of pistachio shell powder and AAR natural resin offers a sustainable approach to reinforcing epoxy-based composites, providing improved mechanical and thermal performance for potential industrial applications. Providing sustainable electricity access to remote areas is critical for economic development and environmental preservation. This study investigates the performance of single‐source and hybrid renewable energy systems for the town of Zahedan, Iran, which has significant solar and wind energy potential. Using TRNSYS software, eight configurations were simulated and analyzed, comprising two single‐source (photovoltaic [PV] and wind turbine [WT]) and six hybrid systems incorporating combinations of PV panels, WTs, alkaline fuel cells, and diesel generators. The analysis revealed that hybrid systems, particularly those combining PV and WT, outperformed single‐source configurations. For instance, a hybrid system with 800 kW of PV and a 50 kW WT reduced diesel consumption by 35% and CO2 emissions by 45% compared to a system relying solely on a diesel generator. Conversely, the configuration involving WTs, fuel cells, and diesel generators showed high energy dumping (1,821,776 kWh) and considerable diesel usage, underscoring the challenges of maintaining energy balance without solar integration. Overall, hybrid renewable systems generally provide enhanced reliability and environmental benefits, although their performance heavily depends on the specific energy source mix. This study offers insights into optimizing renewable energy systems for remote locations, highlighting the necessity of a balanced solar‐wind combination to achieve optimal sustainability and cost‐effectiveness. In the context of the electricity sector's liberalization and deregulation, the accurate forecasting of electricity prices has emerged as a crucial strategy for market participants and operators to minimize costs and maximize profits. However, their effectiveness is hampered by the variable temporal characteristics of real-time electricity prices and a wide array of influencing factors. These challenges hinder a single model's ability to discern the regularity, thereby compromising forecast precision. This study introduces a novel hybrid system to enhance forecast accuracy. Firstly, by employing an advanced decomposition technique, this methodology identifies different variation features within the electricity price series, thus bolstering feature extraction efficiency. Secondly, the incorporation of a novel multi-objective intelligent optimization algorithm, which utilizes two objective functions to constrain estimation errors, facilitates the optimal integration of multiple deep learning models. The case study uses electricity market data from Australia and Singapore to validate the effectiveness of the algorithm. The forecast results indicate that the hybrid short-term electricity price forecasting system proposed in this paper exhibits higher prediction accuracy compared to traditional single-model predictions, with MAE values of 7.3363 and 4.2784, respectively. A flue gas condenser (FGC) system recovers heat from exhaust flue gases in energy production and chemical plants, reducing air pollution due to dust, SOx, and HCl. An FGC system is divided into indirect contact condenser (ICC) and direct contact condenser (DCC) types. In an ICC, the exhaust gases do not mix with the working fluid, and a water film is formed during flue gas condensation for partial SOx removal. In a DCC, direct mixing of the exhaust flue gas with the cooling fluid (mainly water) occurs, with simultaneous absorption of SOx. In this study, we investigated the SO2 removal efficiency and heat recovery of an ICC, a DCC, and a DCC–ICC hybrid system, and compared the results of the hybrid system with those obtained for a single DCC type at the same liquid-to-gas (L/G) ratio. The SO2 removal characteristics of the hybrid system were examined based on the L/G ratio and absorbent-to-SO2 molar ratio. In the reference ICC-type FGC system, the exit temperature of the mixed gas was 28 °C, with the condensed water ratio and heat recovery efficiency being 80.9% and 93.4%, respectively. At an L/G ratio of 1.5–3.5, the SO2 removal efficiency of a single DCC was 31.5–65.9%, whereas that of the hybrid FGC system (with packing material) increased from 47.1% to 72.3%, which further increased to ~90% upon the addition of NaOH at a molar ratio of 0.7 and an L/G ratio of 1.5. In this study, pure and hexagonal boron nitride (hBN)-doped zinc oxide (ZnO) nanoparticles with different doping ratios (1, 5 and 10 wt%) were synthesized and their structural morphological properties were investigated. ZnO-hBN nanocomposite particles were used as reinforcement material in AZ91 magnesium alloy. AZ91 powder reinforced with ZnO-hBN nanocomposite particles was combined by powder metallurgy. Hardness of AZ91 matrix composites was measured at 5 different points on each sample and averaged. The specimens were subjected to wear tests in a pin-on-disk test apparatus. As a result of the tests, the hardness value of pure AZ91 alloy was found to be 62 HB, while the hardness value of AZ91-ZnO-10 hBN sample was found to be up to 85 HB. In the wear tests, it was observed that ZnO-hBN additives resulted in low weight losses in wear losses and also decreased the friction coefficient of the hBN additive in the friction coefficient graphs. A hybrid GA (genetic algorithm)-SVR (support vector regression) model was proposed for the prediction of wear quantities of composites. The purpose of using a hybrid system combining SVR and GA is to improve the wear prediction by optimizing the hyperparameters of t and GA. The results are observed using four different kernel functions in the SVR algorithm, and then, a hybrid GA-SVR structure is proposed and compared. An enriched hybrid high-order method is designed for the Stokes equations of fluid flow and is fully applicable to generic curved meshes. Minimal regularity requirements of the enrichment spaces are given, and an abstract error analysis of the scheme is provided. The method achieves consistency in the enrichment space and is proven to converge optimally in energy error. The scheme is applied to 2D flow around circular cylinders, for which the local behaviour of the velocity and pressure fields is known. Reservoir computing (RC) possesses a simple architecture and high energy efficiency for time‐series data analysis through machine learning algorithms. To date, RC has evolved into several innovative variants. The next generation reservoir computing (NGRC) variant, founded on nonlinear vector autoregression (NVAR) distinguishes itself due to its fewer hyperparameters and independence from physical random connection matrices, while yielding comparable results. However, NGRC networks struggle with massive Kronecker product calculations and matrix‐vector multiplications within the read out layer, leading to substantial efficiency challenges for traditional von Neumann architectures. In this work, a hybrid digital‐analog hardware system tailored for NGRC is developed. The digital part is a Kronecker product calculation unit with data filtering, which realizes transformation of nonlinear vector of the input linear vector. For matrix‐vector multiplication, a computing‐in‐memory architecture based on resistive random access memory array offers an energy‐efficient hardware solution, which markedly reduces data transfer and greatly improve computational parallelism and energy efficiency. The predictive capabilities of this hybrid NGRC system are validated through the Lorenz63 model, achieving a normalized root mean square error (NRMSE) of 0.00098 and an energy efficiency of 19.42TOPS W−1. This study proposes a promising candidate for organic solar cells through the creation of a novel nano-hybrid system composed of caffeine molecules encapsulated within a semiconducting single-walled carbon nanotube known as NT14 (14,0). The stability and optoelectronic properties of this hybrid system, designated as CA@NT14, were thoroughly investigated. We determined the optimal diameter for the NT14 nanotube using molecular mechanics, Density Functional Theory, spectral moment's method, and bond polarizability model, finding it to be approximately 1.18 nm. The encapsulation's impact on the Raman-active modes, specifically the radial breathing mode and tangential mode, was analyzed through Raman spectra calculations, revealing structural stability and charge transfer from CA to NT14. Notably, the NT14's Fermi level position increased upon encapsulation, indicating charge transfer and a type-II band alignment. The study further examined the bandgap characteristics of the hybrid system, finding that the encapsulation of CA within semiconducting NT14 nanotubes minimally impacts the nanotube's bandgap, thus retaining its excellent visible light absorption properties. Conversely, encapsulating CA within metallic nanotubes significantly reduces their bandgap, limiting their light absorption range. The nonresonant Raman responses of NT14 pre- and post-encapsulation corroborated the charge transfer between CA and NT14. Future research will focus on computing the electronic transport characteristics, transmission spectra, I-V characteristics, and yield of CA@NT14 using DFT and Non-Equilibrium Green's Function (formalism. Quantum electronics operating in the microwave domain are burgeoning and becoming essential building blocks of quantum computers, sensors, and communication devices. However, the field of microwave quantum electronics has long been dominated by the need for cryogenic conditions to maintain delicate quantum characteristics. Here, a solid‐state hybrid system, constituted by a photo‐excited pentacene triplet spin ensemble coupled to a dielectric resonator, is reported for the first time capable of both coherent microwave quantum amplification and oscillation at X band via the masing process at room temperature. By incorporating external driving and active dissipation control into the hybrid system, efficient tuning of the maser emission characteristics at ≈9.4 GHz is achieved, which is key to optimizing the performance of the maser device. The work not only pushes the boundaries of the operating frequency and functionality of the existing pentacene masers but also demonstrates a universal route for controlling the masing process at room temperature, highlighting opportunities for optimizing emerging solid‐state masers for quantum information processing and communication. The promising possibility of an organic photodetector (OPD) is emerging in the field of sensing applications for its tunable absorption range, flexibility, and large-scale fabrication abilities. In this work, we fabricated a bulk heterojunction OPD with a device structure of glass/ITO/PEDOT:PSS/P3HT:PC61BM/Al using the spin-coating process and characterized the dark and photocurrent densities at different applied bias conditions for red, green, and blue incident LEDs. The OPD photocurrent density exhibited a magnitude up to 2.5–3 orders higher compared to the dark current density at a −1 V bias while it increased by up to 3–4 orders at zero bias conditions for red, green, and blue lights, showing an increasing trend when a higher voltage is applied in the negative direction. Different OPD inner periphery shapes, the OPD to LED distance, and OPD area were also considered to bring the variation in the OPD dark and photocurrent densities, which can affect the on/off ratio of the OPD–LED hybrid system and is a critical phenomenon for any sensing application. Model predictive control is a promising approach to robustly control complex energy systems, such as hybrid battery-hydrogen energy storage systems that enable seasonal storage of renewable energies. However, deriving a mathematical model of the energy system suitable for model predictive control is difficult due to the unique characteristics of each energy system component. This work introduces mixed integer linear programming models to describe the nonlinear multidimensional operational behavior of components using piecewise linear functions. Furthermore, this paper develops a new approach for deriving a strategy for seasonal storage of renewable energies using cost factors in the objective function of the optimization problem while considering degradation effects. An experimentally validated simulation model of the PHOEBUS Energy System is utilized to compare the performance of two model predictive controllers with a hysteresis band controller such as utilized for the real-world system. Furthermore, the sensitivity of the model predictive controller to the prediction horizon length and the temporal resolution is investigated. The prediction horizon was found to have the highest impact on the performance of the model predictive controller. The best-performing model predictive controller with a 14-day prediction horizon and perfect foresight increased the total energy stored at the end of the year by 18.9% while decreasing the degradation of the electrolyzer and the fuel cell. In recent years, renewable, clean energy options such as hydropower, wind energy and solar energy have been attracting more and more attention as high-quality alternatives to fossil fuels, due to the depletion of fossil fuels and environmental pollution. Multi-energy power systems have replaced traditional thermal power systems. However, the output of solar and wind power is highly variable, random and intermittent, making it difficult to integrate it directly into the grid. In this context, a multi-objective model for the short-term operation of wind–solar–hydro–thermal hybrid systems is developed in this paper. The model considers the stability of the system operation, the operating costs and the impact in terms of environmental pollution. To solve the model, an evolutionary cost value region search algorithm is also proposed. The algorithm is applied to a hydro–thermal hybrid system, a multi-energy hybrid system and a realistic model of the wind–solar–hydro experimental base of the Yalong River Basin in China. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm exhibits superior performance in terms of both convergence and diversity when compared to the reference algorithm. The integration of wind and solar energy into the power system can enhance the economic efficiency and mitigate the environment impact from thermal power generation. Furthermore, the inherent unpredictability of wind and solar energy sources introduces operational inconsistencies into the system loads. Conversely, the adaptable operational capacity of hydroelectric power plants enables them to effectively mitigate peak loads, thereby enhancing the stability of the power system. This paper addresses the potential of integrating a concentrating photovoltaic thermal (CPV/T) system with an absorption chiller for the purpose of space cooling in residential buildings in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The proposed system consists of a low concentrating photovoltaic thermal (CPV/T) collector that utilizes mono-crystalline silicon photovoltaic (PV) cells integrated with a single-effect absorption chiller. The integrated system was modeled using the Transient System Simulation (TRNSYS v17) software. The obtained model was implemented in a case study represented by a villa situated in Abu Dhabi having a peak cooling load of 366 kW. The hybrid system was proposed to have a contribution of 60% renewable energy and 40% conventional nonrenewable energy. A feasibility study was carried out that demonstrated that the system could save approximately 670,700 kWh annually and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 461 tons per year. A new green water treatment agent, a poly(aspartic acid)-modified polymer (PASP/5–AVA), was synthesized using polysuccinimide and 5-aminovaleric acid (5-AVA) in a hybrid system. The structure was characterized, and the scale and corrosion inhibition performance were carried out with standard static scale inhibition and electrochemical methods, respectively. The mechanism was explored using XRD, XPS, SEM, and quantum chemistry calculations. The results indicated that PASP/5–AVA exhibited better scale and corrosion inhibition performance than PASP and maintained efficacy and thermal stability of the scale inhibition effect for a long time. Mechanistic studies indicated that PASP/5–AVA interferes with the normal generation of CaCO3 and CaSO4 scales through lattice distortion and dispersion, respectively; the combined effect of an alkaline environment and terminal electron-withdrawing -COOH groups can induce the stable C- ionic state formation in -CH2- of the extended side chain, thus enhancing its chelating ability for Ca2+ ions. At the same time, the extension of the side chain length also enhances the adsorption ability of the agent on the metal surface, forming a thick film and delaying the corrosion of the metal surface. In addition to Power Quality (PQ) problems caused by solid state devices in the distribution side of grid connected Photo Voltaic (PV) system, quality of power also suffers in the source side by the usage of converters. Generally, PQ problems mitigation strategy has turned into a critical issue in grid-connected PV systems. This paper proposes a control topology for PQ issues mitigation scheme in grid connected PV systems. The primary goal of this study is to enhance the PQ in power distribution system through eradicating the voltage interruption, voltage swell and sag as well as voltage fluctuation. To accomplish these changes, Unified Power Quality Conditioners (UPQCs) with controllers were utilized. Then the faults are mitigated by the utilization of UPQC with Tree Seeds Algorithm (TSA) — Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Interference System (ANFIS). At first, the normal properties of the grid-connected PV systems are dissected. From that point forward, a few interruptions are made in the system and the abnormal characteristics are analyzed. Then the abnormal characteristics of PQ problems are diminished in the utilization of UPQC and TSA–ANFIS controllers. UPQC is one of the best filters topologies which can mitigate and control all PQ problems. The combined algorithms of TSA-ANFIS are used to keep the dc-link voltage in UPQC at consistent level. The proposed hybrid approach is executed in MATLAB/Simulink platform and the performance is studied. Further, the proposed method is compared with existing Elephant Herding Optimization (EHO) technique and also with hybrid EHO-ANFIS techniques. Featured Application: The proposed model can be used to improve symptoms checker tools for mental health disorders, allowing accurate and transparent predictions based on user input. Mental illnesses are becoming one of the most common health concerns among the population. Despite the proven efficacy of psychological treatments, mental illnesses are largely underdiagnosed, particularly in developing countries. A key factor contributing to this is the scarcity of mental health providers capable of diagnosing. In this work, we propose a novel method that combines the general capabilities and accuracy of Large Language models with the explainability of Bayesian Networks. Our system analyzes descriptions of symptoms provided by users and written in natural language and, based on these descriptions, asks questions to confirm or refine the initial diagnosis made by the deep learning model. We trained our model on a large-scale dataset collected from various internet sources, comprising over 2.3 million data points. The initial prediction from the Large Language model is refined through symptom confirmation questions derived from a probabilistic graphical model constructed by experts based on the DSM-5 diagnostic manual. We present results from symptom descriptions sourced from the internet and clinical vignettes extracted from behavioral science exams, demonstrating the effectiveness of our hybrid model in classifying mental health disorders. A single-phase grounding fault often occurs in 10 kV distribution networks, seriously affecting the safety of equipment and personnel. With the popularization of urban cables, the low-resistance grounding system gradually replaced arc suppression coils in some large cities. Compared to arc suppression coils, the low-resistance grounding system features simplicity and reliability. However, when a high-resistance grounding fault occurs, a lower amount of fault characteristics cannot trigger the zero-sequence protection action, so this type of fault will exist for a long time, which poses a threat to the power grid. To address this kind of problem, in this paper, a hybrid grounding system combining the low-resistance protection device and fully controlled power module is proposed. During a low-resistance grounding fault, the fault isolation is achieved through the zero-sequence current protection with the low-resistance grounding system itself, while, during a high-resistance grounding fault, the reliable arc extinction is achieved by regulating the neutral-point voltage with a fully controlled power module. Firstly, this paper introduces the principles, topology, and coordination control of the hybrid grounding system for active voltage arc extinction. Subsequently, a dual-loop-based control method is proposed to suppress the fault phase voltage. Furthermore, a faulty feeder selection method based on the Kepler optimization algorithm and convolutional neural network is proposed for the timely removal of permanent faults. Spiking neural networks and neuromorphic hardware platforms that simulate neuronal dynamics are getting wide attention and are being applied to many relevant problems using Machine Learning. Despite a well-established mathematical foundation for neural dynamics, there exists numerous software and hardware solutions and stacks whose variability makes it difficult to reproduce findings. Here, we establish a common reference frame for computations in digital neuromorphic systems, titled Neuromorphic Intermediate Representation (NIR). NIR defines a set of computational and composable model primitives as hybrid systems combining continuous-time dynamics and discrete events. By abstracting away assumptions around discretization and hardware constraints, NIR faithfully captures the computational model, while bridging differences between the evaluated implementation and the underlying mathematical formalism. NIR supports an unprecedented number of neuromorphic systems, which we demonstrate by reproducing three spiking neural network models of different complexity across 7 neuromorphic simulators and 4 digital hardware platforms. NIR decouples the development of neuromorphic hardware and software, enabling interoperability between platforms and improving accessibility to multiple neuromorphic technologies. We believe that NIR is a key next step in brain-inspired hardware-software co-evolution, enabling research towards the implementation of energy efficient computational principles of nervous systems. This study presents a trilateral test array of new opto-acoustic Underwater Fish Observatories (UFOs) that were operated and tested in Kiel Bight as part of the “UFOTriNet” project. While hydroacoustic and optical techniques have so far been used individually to observe and monitor fish stocks, we present a coupled hybrid system consisting of an optical device intended to scan the near-field as a subsample of a spatially larger medium-to-far-field, scanned by an acoustical device. The optical device consists of two residual light amplifying camera modules able to detect and classify various marine species at a high resolution in the range of at max 4 meters in the study area. To compensate for this spatial limitation, the acoustical component consists of a 2D imaging sonar with a maximum range of 50 m, albeit with a lower resolution. Species affiliation, morphometric characteristics of fish and other marine organisms were stereo-optically detected and classified in the nearfield, blended with acoustical activity in medium to far range, and projected onto the entire insonified area using a hybrid algorithm. Through the synchronous acquisition of multiparametric abiotic and biotic data, UFO allows an automatic, continuous, and non-invasive long-term monitoring of various fish and other marine species and their habitats at regional hotspots. An 86-day multiparametric sample revealing an abrupt shift from a clupeid fish to a gelatinous plankton dominated regime in summer/autumn 2021 in Kiel Fjord is used to demonstrate the potential of UFO for various applications. The integration of renewable energy sources into the power grid is essential for sustainable development, yet it presents significant dependability challenges, particularly in terms of reliability, stability, and robustness due to the inherent variability of these sources. This research introduces a novel hybrid methodology that combines Monte Carlo simulation with Newton-Raphson power flow analysis to enhance the reliability assessment of grid-connected hybrid renewable energy systems. This innovative approach uniquely addresses the limitations of existing methodologies by merging the probabilistic handling of uncertainties with precise deterministic power flow analysis. Our hybrid method significantly reduces the Loss of Load Expectation (LOLE) to 5 h per year and the Loss of Load Energy Expectation (LOEE) to 200 MWh per year, outperforming traditional methods which typically report LOLEs of 2020 h/year and LOEEs of 10001000 MWh/year. Additionally, the hybrid method achieves a reduction in power losses to 1.2%, showcasing its superior efficiency compared to the 2.5% losses seen with standalone Monte Carlo methods. This study offers a thorough techno-economic evaluation of a hybrid desalination system merging Pressure Retarded Osmosis (PRO) with Seawater Reverse Osmosis (SWRO) process. The primary aim is to determine the feasibility and economic viability of the hybridized approach to conventional SWRO methods. Diverse scenarios are studied based on parameters such as PRO module costs, energy savings achievable and payback period. Our findings reveal the potential for energy savings through the PRO-SWRO hybrid system. For instance, in scenarios where PRO membrane costs are low, such as $450 per element, and electricity prices are relatively high at $0.12 per kilowatt-hour, energy savings of up to 7% are attainable compared to standalone SWRO setups. This potential could be amplified with increasing salinity levels in the feed solution and higher draw solution pressures. The study extends beyond theoretical analysis, offering practical solutions for the design and implementation of sustainable desalination solutions; by studying the interaction between various parameters and their impact; on both energy consumption and economic viability. Competition in sports, unlike cooperation in everyday life, does not involve a single solution because individuals aim to behave unpredictably, thereby preventing others from predicting their actions. This study determined how individuals in court-based sports attempted to control others' unpredictable behaviors, addressing the gap in previous studies regarding the lack of clarity around strategies employed by individuals in competitive situations. We achieved this by applying a switching hybrid dynamics model, considering external inputs to analyze individual behaviors. Consequently, the study indicates that skilled individuals, in contrast to intermediate players, exhibit greater consistency in their behaviors. These skilled individuals lead others to anticipate their consistency and subsequently employ strategies to disrupt these expectations. This strategy exploits the principles of active human inference, implying that competition involves cooperation. This was revealed by an analysis of both human decision-making and behavior in actual matches as discrete and continuous dynamical systems. This interpersonal strategy could assist policymakers in the field of everyday life to enhance competitiveness. This work examines the third-order and fifth-order nonlinear susceptibilities in a hybrid system including a semiconductor quantum dot, metallic nanoshell, and graphene nanodisk. The research uses the density matrix method to examine the dipole–dipole interaction that occurs due to the applied field. It assumes that there is an increase in the strength of a continuous-wave electromagnetic field inside the quantum dot. The inclusion of the graphene nanodisk greatly amplifies the nonlinear optical reaction of the quantum dot in this combined system, which is governed by the dipole–dipole interaction. The findings indicate a notable disparity in the nonlinear optical reaction of the semiconductor quantum dot when the parameters are modified. The possible applications of this concept include optical sensors, photonic devices, quantum computing, medical imaging, energy harvesting, and high-density data storage. Battery energy systems (BESs) assisted photovoltaic (PV) plants are among the popular hybrid power systems in terms of energy efficiency, energy management, uninterrupted power supply, grid-connected and off-grid availability. The primary objective of this study is to enhance the power quality of a grid-tied PV-BES hybrid system by developing an operational strategy based on artificial neural network (ANN) based maximum power point tracking (MPPT) method. A test system comprising a 10-kWh BES and a 12.4 kW PV plant is structured and simulated on the MATLAB/Simulink platform. The hybrid system is validated with three different cases: constant radiation, rapid changing radiation, and real-day solar radiation data from the Turkish State Meteorological Service of Tarsus (Mersin, Türkiye) employing the developed operational strategy. These cases involve the examination of three distinct MPPT methods, analyzing DC-link voltage, battery state of charge (SOC), current, voltage, and system total harmonic distortion (THD). The simulation results indicate that the developed operational strategy with the ANN-MPPT method yields superior THD results in output current and a more stable DC-link voltage. Furthermore, the strategy shows improved convergence speed and reduced oscillations to achieve diverse reference operating points under varying atmospheric conditions compared to conventional MPPT methods. Numerical results demonstrate that the developed operational strategy with the ANN-MPPT consistently maintains THD values below 3% and exhibits a stable DC-link voltage deviation of 1.42% in various charging modes for both rapidly changing radiation and real-day solar radiation data. The combination of the dark fiber in existing Optical Fiber Composite Overhead Ground Wire (OPGW) with Distributed Optical Fiber Sensing (DOFS) technology can be used to enable online monitoring and provide early warnings of anomalies in high-voltage transmission lines. Accurate mapping of the optical cable length to the geographic coordinates of actual towers is a key factor in achieving this goal. This paper discusses the principle of using a DOFS system for transmission line tower positioning and presents four available positioning features. To overcome the limitations of single physical parameter positioning, this paper presents a self-developed hybrid DOFS that simultaneously captures Rayleigh backscattering and Brillouin scattering signals. Several physical parameters, including temperature, strain, and vibration, are acquired synchronously. Through hybrid multi-parameter analysis, the rapid and accurate positioning of OPGW line towers is achieved. Experimental results have shown that the proposed method, based on the hybrid DOFS system, can locate up to 82 towers, while the traditional method could only identify 12. The hybrid system was able to complete 80% of the tension towers in 40 h. With the rapid development of space–air–ground integrated networks (SAGIN), the synergy between the satellite and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in sensing environmental status information reveals substantial potential. In SAGIN, applications such as disaster response and military operations require fresh status information to respond effectively. The freshness of information, quantified by the age of information (AoI) metric, is crucial for an effective response. Therefore, it is urgent to investigate the AoI in real-time remote sensing systems leveraging satellite–UAV synergy. To this end, we first establish a comprehensive system model, corresponding to the satellite–UAV "multiscale explanation" synergy remote sensing system in SAGIN, in which we focus on the typical information transmission and fusion strategies of the system, the analysis framework of AoI, and the temporal evolution of AoI. Subsequently, the time-varying process of the system model is transformed into a corresponding finite-states continuous-time Markov chain, enabling a precise analysis of its stochastic behavior. By employing the stochastic hybrid system (SHS) approach, the moment generating functions (MGFs) and mean AoI, offering quantitative insights into the freshness of status information, are derived. Following this, a comparative analysis of AoI under different queuing disciplines, highlighting their respective performance characteristics, is conducted. Furthermore, considering transmit power and bandwidth constraints of the system, the AoI performances under full frequency reuse (FFR), and frequency division multiple access (FDMA) strategies are analyzed. Forecasting mortality is challenging. In general, mortality rate forecasting exercises have been based on the supposition that predictors' residuals are random noise. However, issues regarding model selection, misspecification, or the dynamic behavior of the temporal phenomenon lead to biased or underperformed single models. Residual series might present temporal patterns that can still be used to improve the forecasting system. This paper proposes a new recursive direct multi-step Hybrid System for Mortality Forecasting (HyS-MF) that combines the Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average (ARIMA) with Neural Basis Expansion for Time Series Forecasting (N-BEATS). HyS-MF employs (i) ARIMA to model and forecast the mortality rate time series with a recursive approach and (ii) N-BEATS with the direct multi-step approach to learn and forecast the residuals of the linear predictor. The final output is generated by summing ARIMA with the N-BEATS forecasts in each time horizon. HyS-MF achieved an average Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE) less than 1.34% considering all prediction horizons, beating statistical techniques, machine learning, deep learning models, and hybrid systems considering 101 different time series from the French population mortality rate. High Test Peroxide (HTP) is a well-known green and energetic material, widely used in propulsion systems in a variety of applications, including hypergolic systems. This experimental work mixed fumed silica with liquid HTP to synthesize Gelled HTP (GHTP). A high-speed camera and a time-resolved infrared camera were employed to analyze liquid/gel phase mixing, ignition, and flame spread through drop tests, adopting a promising low toxicity liquid fuel as a GHTP hypergolic pair. Liquid/gel impinging jets in ambient air were also performed, simulating a basic element of a hybrid liquid/gel propulsion system. Prior to ignition, GHTP revealed a lower mixing ratio compared to HTP, which ultimately led to an ignition delay time of 20.6 ±6.4 ms, while HTP reached 14.6 ±3.7 ms when 1 wt% of catalyst was used. The flame area, used as a parameter to quantify gas-phase reaction, also showed sensitivity to liquid/gel phase mixing. Using a less concentrated HTP solution, ignition of GHTP/liquid fuel seemed to occur around 6 s faster than liquid HTP/liquid fuel in impinging jets, probably due to differences in propellant residence time and the vapor formation process. A theoretical performance analysis considering GHTP as an oxidizer in a hybrid liquid/gel hypergolic system revealed that the gelled propellant, made with the addition of 6 wt% of fumed silica, can achieve 96% of liquid HTP's specific impulse with the selected fuel. Furthermore, the theoretical density specific impulse of the hybrid gel/liquid system would significantly surpass that of the liquid/liquid system if 10 wt% of aluminum were mixed with GHTP. To take advantage of the hybrid system, a new propulsion system composed of pistons coupled to propellant tanks is proposed to properly infuse the gelled and liquid propellants. Two methods to predict the pushover response of a hybrid steel braced frame that features concentric and eccentric connections are presented. The proposed hybrid frame configuration is intended for cold-formed steel (CFS) building structures and plays a dual role by providing gravity and lateral load resistance. The hybrid system features CFS columns for resisting gravity loads, tension only CFS straps connected concentrically to hollow structural steel (HSS) chords for resisting lateral loads, and prestressing strands connected eccentrically to the same HSS chords for further enhancing lateral load capacity. The first pushover response prediction method employs a nonlinear finite element modeling protocol that features only beam and truss elements. This method is presented as an alternative to three-dimensional (3D) nonlinear finite element models, which require considerable modeling effort due to the multitude of the components included in the hybrid system, and the variety of interactions that would need to be defined. The second method includes closed form equations that allow the definition of the pushover curves using manual calculations and is appropriate for preliminary analysis. Formulations for predicting the initial in-plane system stiffness, and secondary stiffness are presented. Similarly, formulations for predicting the load to cause the first and second yield as well as ultimate lateral load capacity are provided. A closed form equation is presented to obtain the ultimate lateral displacement, which completes the definition of the pushover curve. The validation of the proposed pushover response prediction methods is conducted by first comparing responses from 3D nonlinear FEA to those obtained from the simplified FEA model. Similarly, predictions from the simplified FEA model are compared to those obtained from the closed form equations. Good agreements are noted in both cases. The influence of hybrid steel braced frame aspect ratio on system push over response is quantified. The contribution of each lateral load resisting element to lateral load capacity is presented as a function of aspect ratio. Finally, improvements in behavior and enhancements in lateral load capacity offered by the hybrid frame-wall compared to the traditional strapped wall system are demonstrated through monotonic pushover, cyclic pushover, and response history analysis. The combination of different wood-modification technologies to obtain improved performance is increasingly receiving attention in research. In this study, Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris) sapwood was impregnated with furfuryl alcohol (FFA) in pure aqueous 20, 40, and 60% solution strength without adding any catalyst. In a second step, the FFA was polymerized while simultaneously performing thermal modification in a closed system at 130, 150, or 180 °C. After leaching and ageing tests, the nine different combinations were tested in use class 4 applications (in contact with or very close to the ground and frequently wet) according to CEN/TS 15083-2 (2005) decay laboratory test. It was noted that even the minimum-intensity combination of 20% FFA at 130 °C resulted in maximum durability class (DC) 1 performance. On the contrary, DC 4 was assigned to thermally modified control samples, even at the maximum intensity of thermal modification. Similarly, for FFA modifications, previous research has suggested that an uptake of 35% solution strength is required to obtain an adequate durability performance in use class 4 applications. High levels of resistance against termites were also noted by corresponding termite lab tests. Moisture studies showed the combined treatments resulted in improved stability and reduced moisture uptakes. Thus, the results obtained by this study revealed synergistic performance effects, which originate from the combined thermo-chemical modification approach, and which were higher than simple accumulation of the individual performance of purely thermally or chemically modified wood. Thus, the presented findings have provided positive implications for industrial applications of thermo-chemical modification techniques and offers an array of new research opportunities. A genetically optimized fuzzy control algorithm is used to realize the parallel hybrid system's real-time energy distribution between the engine and the electric motor. This paper first adopts fuzzy control to improve the robustness and real-time performance of the entire system. Then, a membership function optimization method based on a genetic algorithm is proposed by simulating the working state of CYCUDDS. Regenerative design is being increasingly explored in urban environments to counteract and adapt to the changing climate and degradation of ecosystems. A critical success factor for the implementation of regenerative design is the evaluation of urban and building systems in relation to ecological performance and benefits. In biological ecosystems, the availability of high-quality energy, called exergy, and structural order can be used as indicators of the efficiency of on-going ecological processes. Structural order refers to the organization and systematic arrangements of biotic and abiotic elements within an ecosystem based on the available space and interactions with the goal to form a functional system. Ecological processes use the available exergy and generate ecosystem services (ESs) upon which human survival and that of other living organisms depend. In this article, structural order and ESs generation are proposed as indicators for exergy efficiency and accumulation in building systems, respectively, which can evaluate to what extent they are ecologically functional and regenerative. Based on this insight, design strategies are derived from the functioning of ecosystems that describe how buildings could become habitats that host living, non-living, and hybrid systems with optimized thermodynamic efficiency and that can generate ESs. This research suggests that when buildings improve structural order (an ecological concept) and implement ESs generating processes similar to biological ecosystems, they can facilitate regenerative processes more effectively that consume and generate resources and, with this, destroy but also accumulate exergy. This research introduces a hybrid humidification-dehumidification (HDH) desalination unit and dye-sensitized solar cell (DSSC) system to produce power and drinking water using the hot and humid waste air from buildings equipped with wind towers. The thermodynamic, exergeoeconomic and carbon footprint study of this hybrid system is conducted in five arid and semiarid regions, including Tehran, Isfahan, Birjand, Yazd and Kerman, located in Iran. The proposed hybrid system's thermodynamic, cost and CO2 emission rates are evaluated and compared by varying design parameters. The results indicate that increasing wind tower height and DSSC tilt angle significantly improve the thermodynamic performance of the system while rising water-to-air mass flow rate ratio (MR) and saline water temperature, respectively, lessen the cost and CO2 emission rates of the system in all desired regions. Furthermore, the system's optimum performance in each zone is identified using the multi-objective moth-flame optimization (MOMFO) and decision-making procedure. Optimization results indicate that the highest power and freshwater of 783.4 W and 120.5 kg/month, respectively, can be achieved in Birjand, and the highest energy and exergy efficiencies are obtained by 10.8% and 11.41% in Kerman. Moreover, the system delivers the lowest cost and CO2 emission rates of 0.73 $/month and 4.61 kgCO2/month in Tehran. This study examines the potential use of Hybrid Renewable Energy Systems (consisting of photovoltaic, wind, bio, and diesel sources) both with and without the inclusion of battery storage in the eastern region of India. An evaluation is conducted to determine the economic viability of several system configurations, and the most efficient system is selected using HOMER software. The investigation focused on six distinct scenarios to meet the energy needs of a village community. The goal was to satisfy a daily load need of 1093.7 kWh, with a peak demand of 153.63 kW. The study examined many factors, such as system efficiency, financial viability, and ecological consequences. The primary aim of the research was to compare the power costs associated with different designs of HRES. Detailed techno-commercial assessments were carried out to examine the energy production, consumption, and financial impacts of each scenario. This research provides valuable insights for individuals and organizations seeking reliable and long-lasting energy solutions by analyzing the potential benefits and drawbacks of implementing HRES in rural areas. An evaluation is conducted to determine the energy contribution of each element within an RES, as well as the influence of HRES on energy expenses and net present value. The findings of this study reveal that the optimized hybrid system comprises 133 kW photovoltaic arrays, a 130-kW wind turbine, a 0.2 kW biogas generator, a 100-kW diesel generator, a 540-kWh battery bank with nominal capacity, and a 58-kW converter. This system has a minimum COE of 0.347$/kWh and NPC of $1.71M. Hyperbolic metamaterials (HMMs) are highly anisotropic materials with the unique property of generating electromagnetic modes. Understanding how these materials can be applied to control the propagation of light waves remains a major focus in photonics. In this study, we inserted a finite-size HMM rod into the point defect of two-dimensional photonic crystals (PhCs) and investigated the unique cavity modes of this hybrid system. The HMM enhances the efficiency of the cavity system in controlling light transmission. Numerical results demonstrate that the cavity modes based on HMMs can be categorized into various types, showing high Q-factors and promising potential for resonant modulation. Furthermore, the switching performance of the cavity with an HMM rod was examined, revealing that the finite-size HMM modes are highly frequency-sensitive and suitable for nonlinear controlled all-optical switching. These switches, characterized by low power consumption and high extinction ratios, are highly suitable for integration into photonic systems. Our investigation on the new type of HMM cavity illustrates that anisotropic materials can be effectively applied in cavity systems to generate highly efficient modes for filtering and switching. A hydrodynamic control model is established in attention to coupling relationships among cable, propellers and robot body of a tethered underwater robot system. In this model the governing equations of umbilical cable and the robot are firstly introduced, then supplementary conditions are coupled into the equations to forming the dynamic mathematical model; finally a hybrid control strategy based on feed-forward negative feedback method for the cable and PID rule for the propellers are integrated in the mathematical model for composing the whole hydrodynamic control model. Both the mathematical model and the control algorithms are proved to be effective and reliable through comparing simulation with the experimental data in existed references. Based on the numerical model constructed in this paper, trajectory tracking of a tethered underwater robot system in different motion combinations are numerically simulated through computational fluid dynamics method. In the numerical simulations, finite difference method is used to solving the kinematic parameters of the mathematical model, while finite volume method is applied on calculating the hydrodynamic forces under a hybrid control manipulations. The robot motion in vertical direction is determined primary by feed-forward negative feedback strategy of adjusting the cable length, while the horizontal movement of the robot is controlled mainly through PID algorithm; The hydrodynamic loading on the robot body are influenced by the flow fields around the robot. While organic semiconductors hold significant promise for the development of flexible, lightweight electronic devices such as organic thin-film transistors (OTFTs), photodetectors, and gas sensors, their widespread application is often limited by intrinsic challenges. In this article, we first review these challenges in organic electronics, including low charge carrier mobility, susceptibility to environmental degradation, difficulties in achieving uniform film morphology and crystallinity, as well as issues related to poor interface quality, scalability, and reproducibility that further hinder their commercial viability. Next, we focus on reviewing the hybrid system comprising an organic semiconductor and polystyrene (PS) to address these challenges. By examining the interactions of PS as a polymer additive with several benchmark semiconductors such as pentacene, rubrene, 6,13-bis(triisopropylsilylethynyl) pentacene (TIPS pentacene), 2,8-difluoro-5,11-bis(triethylsilylethynyl) anthradithiophene (diF-TES-ADT), and 2,7-dioctyl[1]benzothieno[3,2-b][1]benzothiophene (C8-BTBT), we showcase the versatility of PS in enhancing the crystallization, thin film morphology, phase segregation, and electrical performance of organic semiconductor devices. Background: This case report documents the first worldwide use of the Hybrid System from Spectrum Medical in a heart transplant procedure, focusing on its safety and efficacy. Traditional cardiopulmonary bypass systems often use an open reservoir, which increases the blood's exposure to air, thereby heightening the risk of an inflammatory response and gas embolism. In contrast, the Hybrid System is designed to improve surgical outcomes by significantly reducing the blood-air interface. This system utilizes a dual-chamber cardiotomy-venous reservoir with a collapsible soft bag, effectively minimizing blood contact with air and foreign materials. However, it is important to note that there is currently no evidence supporting the use of this methodology specifically in heart transplants. Case presentation: A 41-year-old male managed with a left ventricular assist device because of dilated cardiomyopathy underwent a heart transplant using the Hybrid System. The perioperative and postoperative data provided evidence of the system's effectiveness. The selection of this patient was due to the absence of significant comorbidities unrelated to his primary cardiac condition, making him an ideal candidate to evaluate the system's performance. Conclusion: The Hybrid System is safe and efficient. The successful implementation in this case highlights its advantages over traditional cardiopulmonary bypass systems, suggesting a promising future in cardiac surgery. This study develops a PV-Wind-Battery-DG system with an objective of 3E analysis which includes Energy, Economic, and Environmental CO2 emissions. Indispensable parameters like technical parameters (Loss of Power Supply Probability, Renewable factor, PV fraction, and Wind fraction) and social factor (Human Developing Index) are evaluated to show the proposed modified Harris Hawks Optimization (mHHO) algorithm's merits over the existing algorithms. To achieve the objectives, the proposed mHHO algorithm uses nine distinct operators to obtain simultaneous optimization. Furthermore, the performance of mHHO is evaluated by using the CEC 2019 test suite and the most optimal mHHO is chosen for sizing and 3E analysis of HRES. The findings demonstrate that the mHHO has achieved optimized values for Cost of Energy (COE), Net Present Cost (NPC), and Annualized System Cost (ASC) with the lowest values being 0.14130 $/kWh, 1,649,900$, and 1,16,090$/year respectively. The reduction in COE value using the proposed mHHO approach is 0.49% in comparison with most of the other MH-algorithms. Additionally, the system primarily relies on renewable sources, with diesel usage accounting for only 0.03% of power generation. Overall, this study effectively addresses the challenge of performing a 3E analysis with mHHO algorithm which exhibits excellent convergence and is capable of producing high-quality outcomes in the design of HRES. Precise control of quantum structures in hybrid nanocrystals requires advancements in scientific methodologies. Here, on the design of tunable CsPbBr3/Cs4PbBr6 quantum dots are reported by developing a unique discrete phase transformation approach in Cs4PbBr6 nanocrystals. Unlike conventional hybrid systems that emit solely in the green region, this current strategy produces adjustable luminescence in the blue (450 nm), cyan (480 nm), and green (510 nm) regions with high photoluminescence quantum yields up to 45%, 60%, and 85%, respectively. Concentration‐dependent studies reveal that phase transformation mechanisms and the factors that drive CsBr removal occur at lower dilutions while the dissolution–recrystallization process dominates at higher dilutions. When the polymer‐CsPbBr3/Cs4PbBr6 integrated into a field‐effected transistor the resulting phototransistors featured enhanced photosensitivity exceeding 105, being the highest reported for an n‐type phototransistor, while maintaining good transistor performances as compared to devices consisting of polymer‐CsPbBr3 NCs. Straw pollution and the increasing scarcity of phosphorus resources in many regions of China have had severe impacts on the growing conditions for crop plants. Using microbial methods to enhance straw decomposition rate and phosphorus utilization offers effective solutions to address these problems. In this study, a microbial consortium 6 + 1 (consisting of a straw-degrading bacterium and a phosphate-solubilizing bacterium) was formulated based on their performance in straw degradation and phosphorus solubilization. The degradation rate of straw by 6 + 1 microbial consortium reached 48.3% within 7 days (The degradation ability was 7% higher than that of single bacteria), and the phosphorus dissolution rate of insoluble phosphorus reached 117.54 mg·L− 1 (The phosphorus solubilization ability was 29.81% higher than that of single bacteria). In addition, the activity of lignocellulosic degrading enzyme system was significantly increased, the activities of endoglucanase, β-glucosidase and xylanase in the microbial consortium were significantly higher than those in the single strain (23.16%, 28.02% and 28.86%, respectively). Then the microbial consortium was processed into microbial agents and tested in rice pots. The results showed that the microbial agent significantly increased the content of organic matter, available phosphorus and available nitrogen in the soil. Ongoing research focuses on the determination of the effects and mechanisms of a functional hybrid system of straw degradation and phosphorus removal. The characteristics of the two strains are as follows: Straw-degrading bacteria can efficiently degrade straw to produce glucose-based carbon sources when only straw is used as a carbon source. Phosphate-solubilizing bacteria can efficiently use glucose as a carbon source, produce organic acids to dissolve insoluble phosphorus and consume glucose at an extremely fast rate. The analysis suggests that the microbial consortium 6 + 1 outperformed individual strains in terms of both performance and application effects. The two strains within the microbial consortium promote each other during their growth processes, resulting in a significantly higher rate of carbon source consumption compared to the individual strains in isolation. This increased demand for carbon sources within the growth system facilitates the degradation of straw by the strains. At the same time, the substantial carbon consumption during the metabolic process generated a large number of organic acids, leading to the solubilization of insoluble phosphorus. Depending on the PV power, load power, and battery status, the system may operate in different modes. The control loop may have to switch between operating modes. In practice, it is difficult to implement control loop switching because the transition and dynamic process are difficult to control. As a result, this paper presents a generalized mode control method that avoids loop switching across modes. First, system structure and topology are introduced. The operating conditions for both grid-connected and off-grid modes are then divided into six sub-cases. Furthermore, the control architecture, control loop, and reference transition for various scenarios are described. A modified onboard neuro-fuzzy adaptive (NFA) helicopter turboshaft engine (HTE) automatic control system (ACS) is proposed, which is based on a circuit consisting of a research object, a regulator, an emulator, a compensator, and an observer unit. In this scheme, it is proposed to use the proposed AFNN six-layer hybrid neuro-fuzzy network (NFN) with Sugeno fuzzy inference and a Gaussian membership function for fuzzy variables, which makes it possible to reduce the HTE fuel consumption parameter transient process regulation time by 15.0 times compared with the use of a traditional system automatic control (clear control), 17.5 times compared with the use of a fuzzy ACS (fuzzy control), and 11.25 times compared with the use of a neuro-fuzzy reconfigured ACS based on an ANFIS five-layer hybrid NFN. By applying the Lyapunov method as a criterion, its system stability is proven at any time, with the exception of the initial time, since at the initial time the system is in an equilibrium state. The use of the six-layer ANFF NFN made it possible to reduce the I and II types of error in the HTE fuel consumption controlling task by 1.36...2.06 times compared with the five-layer ANFIS NFN. This work also proposes an AFNN six-layer hybrid NFN training algorithm, which, due to adaptive elements, allows one to change its parameters and settings in real time based on changing conditions or external influences and, as a result, achieve an accuracy of up to 99.98% in the HTE fuel consumption controlling task and reduce losses to 0.2%. A dual-pontoon WEC-breakwater system is proposed to optimise space utilisation and reduce construction costs by integrating wave energy converters (WECs) with breakwaters. Previous parametric studies on the dimensions and layout of WECs have primarily used potential flow theories, often neglecting the viscous effects in wave–pontoon interactions. In this research, I employ a fully nonlinear viscous model, OpenFOAM®, to address these limitations. I examine multiple parameters, including the gap width between the pontoons, the draft, and the structure breadth, to assess their impact on the functional performance of this hybrid system. Furthermore, I discuss the accurate hydrodynamic performance of waves interacting with multiple floating structures and explore how various parameters influence the dual-pontoon WEC-breakwater integrated system's functionality. I discuss a novel analysis of the effective frequency bandwidth, considering both wave energy conversion efficiency and wave attenuation efficiency, to reflect the overall performance of the integrated system. This study proposes an innovative hybrid system that integrates a phosphoric acid fuel cell (PAFC) with an absorption refrigeration system (ARS) to enhance overall exergy efficiency. Waste heat from the PAFC is used in ARS generation. An evaluation is made of the energy efficiency, economic aspects, and the influence of the operating pressures of the two working fluid pairs, LiBr/H2O and R134a/DMF. In the combined PAFC-ARS, the absorption refrigeration unit incurs the highest exergy loss: 157 kW (R134a/DMF) and 146 kW (LiBr/H2O). The second-largest loss is experienced by the pure electrical generation PAFC unit at 117 kW. From an economic perspective, PAFC-ARS (LiBr/H2O) systems incur costs of USD 2.4/t for both hot water and cooling water, and USD 0.13 kW/h for electricity, with an 8 year payback period. In comparison, the R134a/DMF system entails costs of USD 2.1/t for hot water and cooling water and USD 0.16 kW/h for electricity. The PAFC exhibits a net output power of 434 kW, considering both energy and exergy perspectives. The corresponding maximum net electric energy efficiency (ηI) of the PAFC is 52%, while the overall exergy efficiency of the cooling model (ηII,dc) of the PAFC-ARS peaks at 56%, and the overall exergy efficiency of the heating model (ηII,dh) reaches its maximum at 61%. The use of linear and quadratic perturbations of nonlinear differential equations in mathematical models of a variety of real-world problems has received a lot of interest. In this work, we investigate the performance of dual-hop hybrid free-space optical/radio frequency (FSO/RF) systems with decode-and-forward relaying, where the FSO link experiences Gamma–Gamma turbulence with pointing errors, while the RF link undergoes Nakagami- m fading. Two scenarios are considered, in the first scenario, a hard-switching (HS) scheme is used for the hybrid system, in which one of the links is active at a time, with high priority for the FSO link, whereas in the second scenario, both the FSO and RF links are active simultaneously and a selection combining (SC) scheme is used at the receiver end. We derive exact analytical expressions for the outage probability and average bit error rate (ABER) in terms of multivariate Fox H functions, and develop Monte Carlo simulations for validation. In the numerical results, we compare the performance of the two scenarios with the dual-hop FSO system. This comparison shows a respectable improvement in the system's performance when the hybrid transmission technique is exploited over the dual-hop system.
