Abstract

Objective: to know and analyze the perceptions of adolescents with high social vulnerability regarding the establishment of dating violence. Method: a qualitative research study carried out with 19 adolescents from a central municipality São Paulo, Brazil. Data collection took place by means of focus groups and field diaries, with the data being analyzed thematically. Results: two categories emerged: “A new female posture in a context of traditional gender norms” and “Violence in intimate relationships: the (non)perception of adolescents”. Traditional gender norms still occupy a significant place in the design of dating violence among adolescents. Such behaviors are more visible in these relationships, when commitment and exclusivity are seen as the main characteristics, authorizing possession and control. Jealousy emerges as the main trigger for violence and the technologies appear as contemporary resources to reinforce it. Conclusion: the need for early interventions with adolescents is reiterated, with a focus on actions that promote gender equality. Objetivo: conocer y analizar las percepciones de adolescentes con alta vulnerabilidad social sobre la construcción de relaciones de pareja violentas. Método: investigación cualitativa realizada con 19 adolescentes de un municipio central de São Paulo, Brasil. La recolección de datos se llevó a cabo a través de grupos focales y un diario de campo, y los datos se analizaron temáticamente. Resultados: surgieron dos categorías: “Una nueva postura femenina en un contexto de normas tradicionales de género” y “Violencia en las relaciones íntimas: la (no) percepción de los adolescentes”. Las normas tradicionales de género todavía ocupan un lugar importante en la configuración de las relaciones entre los adolescentes. Tales comportamientos son más visibles en los noviazgos, cuando el compromiso y la exclusividad son las principales características, autorizando la posesión y el control. Los celos surgen como el principal detonante de la violencia y la tecnología aparece como recurso contemporáneo para reforzarla. Conclusión: se recalca que es necesario realizar intervenciones precoces con los adolescentes, centradas en acciones que promuevan la equidad de género. Objetivo: conhecer e analisar as percepções de adolescentes de alta vulnerabilidade social frente à construção de relações de intimidade violentas. Método: pesquisa qualitativa realizada junto a 19 adolescentes de um município central de São Paulo, Brasil. Resultados: emergiram duas categorias “Uma nova postura feminina em um contexto de normas tradicionais de gênero” e “Violências nas relações íntimas: a (não) percepção dos adolescentes”. Normas tradicionais de gênero ainda ocupam um lugar significativo no delineamento de relações entre adolescentes. Tais condutas são mais visíveis em relações de namoro, quando o compromisso e a exclusividade são tidos como principais características, autorizando a posse e o controle. O ciúme emerge como principal disparador de violência e as tecnologias aparecem como recursos contemporâneos para reforçá-la. Conclusão: reitera-se a necessidade de intervenções precoces junto a adolescentes, com foco em ações promotoras de equidade de gênero.

Abstract

Bullying affects the development of adolescents. This study aimed to compare bullying experiences and variables of family interactions between boys and girls. The sample consisted of 2,354 Brazilian Students (50.7% girls; M = 14.5 years, SD = 2.0) who answered two scales on bullying and family interactions. 55 adolescents participate of the semi-structured interviews. Quantitative data were analyzed using Student's t-test and Cohen's d-index. The qualitative analysis of the interviews was developed in the Atlas.TI software. We identified that boys were more aggressors and victim-aggressors. The mixed results indicated that bullying and victimization manifested with few differences between boys and girls regarding the quality of family interactions. Positive communication in the family was a protective factor for girls, while negative marital climate and physical punishment increased vulnerability to bullying or victimization for both sexes. 23. Pesquisa qualitativa na pandemia da COVID-19: Uma experiência com homens e o tema da violência doméstica

Resumo: Introdução. A pandemia da COVID-19 impactou a área da saúde, diferentes setores da sociedade, assim como a saúde mental das pessoas e o desenvolvimento de pesquisas com delineamentos diversos. Objetivos. Esse estudo teve como objetivo refletir sobre as dificuldades colocadas à pesquisa qualitativa em tempos de pandemia e o modo de as ultrapassar a partir de um relato de experiência. Métodos. Trata-se de um estudo descritivo, qualitativo, do tipo relato de experiência. Na análise da experiência foi utilizada a técnica expressivo-criativa “redemoinho de ideias”. Resultados. A experiência foi exitosa, principalmente, no que se refere ao recrutamento de público-alvo para a pesquisa qualitativa. Na prática científica experienciada e relatada todos os pontos fortes de entrevistas on-line empregadas em pesquisas científicas foram alcançados: maior abrangência geográfica dos participantes; economia de recursos financeiros e redução de tempo na coleta de dados, maior segurança sanitária para participantes e pesquisadores e a possibilidade de investigar tópicos socialmente sensíveis (como a violência doméstica ou o ser violento) sem grandes constrangimentos. Na análise da experiência, verificou-se que a vivência da pandemia no campo da individualidade mobilizou sentimentos negativos e a perspectiva de que a pandemia seria situação temporária, mas sem potencial para afetar a pesquisa proposta. As respostas institucionais favoreceram a superação da crise e o surgimento de alternativas metodológicas. A resolução para os problemas enfrentados pelos pesquisadores passou por um processo heurístico de inventar novas formas de acessar fatos ou os fenômenos de interesse. Conclusões. Espera-se contribuir para a reflexão sobre as possibilidades do uso da tecnologia a partir de um caso específico, além de ampliar a discussão sobre a importância do detalhamento de métodos, instrumentos e procedimentos de coleta de dados em futuros estudos qualitativos desenvolvidos on-line.

Executive functions are cognitive skills required to perform complex, adaptive, and socially acceptable behaviors. The existence of deficits in these functions may imply behavioral problems and violence. Thus, the objective of this integrative review of the literature was to identify relationships between executive functions and school bullying. The keywords "executive functions" and "bullying" were cross-referenced in the databases: LILACS, PsycINFO, ScieELO, Scopus and Web of Science. The methodological quality of the investigations was evaluated through the Checklist for Analytical Cross Sectional Studies. Among the 22 identified studies, seven met the inclusion criteria and were selected. All studies analyzed identified associations between practicing or suffering bullying with deficits in executive functions. It was concluded that the improvement of the executive functions of the students can help in the prevention or reduction of school bullying. Las funciones ejecutivas son habilidades cognitivas necesarias para realizar comportamientos complejos, adaptativos y socialmente aceptables. La existencia de déficit en estas funciones puede implicar problemas conductuales y violencia. Así, el objetivo de esta revisión integradora de la literatura fue identificar relaciones entre funciones ejecutivas y bullying escolar. Se realizó el cruce de las palabras clave "executive functions" y "bullying" en las bases de datos: LILACS, PsycINFO, ScieELO, Scopus y Web of Science. La calidad metodológica de las investigaciones fue evaluada a través del Checklist para Analytical Cross Sectional Studies. Entre los 22 estudios identificados, siete atendieron a los criterios de inclusión y fueron seleccionados. Todos los estudios analizados identificaron asociaciones entre practicar o sufrir bullying con déficits en las funciones ejecutivas. La mejora de las funciones ejecutivas puede auxiliar en la prevención o reducción del bullying escolar. Funções executivas são habilidades cognitivas necessárias à realização de comportamentos complexos, adaptativos e socialmente aceitáveis. A existência de déficits nessas funções pode implicar em problemas comportamentais e violência. Assim, o objetivo desta revisão sistemática da literatura foi identificar relações entre funções executivas e bullying escolar. Foi realizado o cruzamento das palavras-chaves “executive functions” e “bullying” nas bases de dados: LILACS, PsycINFO, ScieELO, Scopus e Web of Science. A qualidade metodológica das investigações foi avaliada por meio do Checklist for Analytical Cross Sectional Studies. Dentre os 22 estudos identificados, sete atenderam aos critérios de inclusão e foram selecionados. Todos os estudos analisados identificaram associações entre praticar ou sofrer bullying com déficits nas funções executivas. Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic required non-pharmacological control measures, including schools shut down and the compulsory implementation of remote education. This study aimed to review the experience of children, young people and education professionals during the pandemic through a scoping review. Six databases were consulted and the corpus reviewed consisted of 15 articles. There was a concern with training in higher education, as well as emerging demands for teachers and students who were required to adhere to different teaching-learning tools. Teachers and students evaluation is positive, considering that remote activities ensure greater flexibility and creativity, but there is a strong concern with the exclusion of those who do not have access or have limited access to the internet or computers. The impact of the remote experience of school education during the pandemic will be evaluated in the future, but it is already possible to point out implications for the field of Psychology in the face of the “new normal”. La pandemia COVID-19 requirió medidas no farmacológicas para controlarla, incluido el cierre de escuelas y la implementación obligatoria de educación a distancia. Este estudio tuvo como objetivo analizar la experiencia de niños, jóvenes y profesionales de la educación durante la pandemia a través de una revisión de alcance. Se consultaron seis bases de datos y el corpus revisado constaba de 15 artículos. Había una preocupación por la formación en educación superior, así como por las demandas emergentes de profesores y estudiantes que necesitaban adherirse a diferentes herramientas de enseñanza-aprendizaje. La evaluación de docentes y estudiantes es positiva, considerando que las actividades a distancia garantizan mayor flexibilidad y creatividad, sin embargo existe una fuerte preocupación por la exclusión de quienes no tienen acceso o tienen acceso limitado a internet o computadoras. El impacto de la experiencia remota de la educación escolar durante la pandemia será evaluado en el futuro, pero ya es posible señalar implicaciones para el campo de la Psicología de cara a la “nueva normalidad”. A pandemia da COVID-19 exigiu medidas não farmacológicas para seu controle, entre elas o fechamento das escolas e implantação compulsória do ensino remoto. Este estudo objetivou analisar a experiência de crianças, jovens e profissionais da educação durante a pandemia por meio de uma scoping review. Foram consultadas seis bases de dados e o corpus revisado foi composto por 15 artigos. Verificou-se preocupação com formação no ensino superior, bem como demandas emergentes para professores e alunos que precisaram aderir a diferentes ferramentas de ensino-aprendizagem. A avaliação de professores e alunos é positiva, considerando que as atividades remotas garantem maior flexibilidade e criatividade, porém há forte preocupação com a exclusão de quem não têm acesso ou têm acesso limitado à internet ou computadores. O impacto da vivência remota da educação escolar durante a pandemia será avaliado futuramente, mas já é possível sinalizar implicações para o campo da Psicologia diante do “novo normal”.

Objective: to estimate the prevalence rate of indicators related to bullying among Brazilian students aged 13 to 17 years and compare its occurrence between 2015 and 2019. Method: this is a descriptive cross-sectional study, with data from the National Survey of School Health, carried out in all Brazilian states. The prevalence rate and confidence intervals (95%CI) of the indicators were estimated in 2019. Student's t test was used (p ≤ 0.01) to test the differences between editions. Results: the prevalence rate of bullying decreased from 20.4% (95%CI: 19.2 -- 21.5) in 2015 to 12.0% (95%CI: 11.6 -- 12.5) in 2019. The reasons cited for being bullied were similar in both editions: bodily appearance, facial appearance, and color/race. Prevalence rates were similar between states. The state of Tocantins presented the highest number of bully-victims; states of Mato Grosso and Amapá had the highest number of adolescents being involved in cyberbullying situations, and the state of Rio de Janeiro presented the highest number of bullies. Conclusion: there was a reduction by half in bullying and in the report on not being treated well among Brazilian adolescents; however, the prevalence rate of being bullied and cyberbullying are high in the country. Abstract

Children and adolescents are vulnerable to mental health problems, but often only individual issues are considered in their determination. This study aimed to know the perception of professionals about the social determinants of child and adolescent mental health. This is qualitative research that counted with the participation of seven professionals. For data collection, semi-structured interviews were conducted and analyzed according to the assumptions of thematic analysis. The participants showed a broad understanding of health, incorporating in its conceptualization other issues seen as related to being healthy or getting sick. It was identified that the social and living conditions affect the mental health of children and teenagers. In the participants' evaluation, the professional practice is always "drying ice". The findings reveal the perception of professionals about social determinants for the mental health of children and adolescents, suggesting the need to consider their impact on clinical management and organization of care. Abstract

This study aimed to understand the impact of victimization caused by bullying on the mental health of adolescents. It is a qualitative investigation conducted with 55 students from 11 public schools in a city of Minas Gerais State, Brazil. The data were collected through semi-structured interviews and reviewed according to content analysis using Atlas TI software. A total of 19 students participating in the study reported having already suffered bullying at school. It was verified in the narratives that the victimization by bullying represents a threat to the health and mental well-being of the students, characterizing itself as a painful, daily and lasting experience in the school trajectory. Four thematic categories were identified: 1) Mental illness attributed to the aggressions suffered; 2) Negative emotions associated with school and peer relationships; 3) Impotence and passivity; and 4) distrust of weak institutional responses. Abstract

Background: Bullying at school is a worldwide phenomenon. Observers are central to understanding the phenomenon and developing preventive actions. Objective: To know the experience of students identified as witnesses of bullying situations. Methodology: Qualitative and exploratory study developed in a Brazilian school, in the light of the Social cognitive theory. Twenty students aged between 13 and 18 years participated. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and focus groups. Thematic analysis was applied to the data. Results: The prevalence rate of students who observed bullying was 64%. Participants have good knowledge about bullying, assess aggressive behavior as negative or harmful, but this understanding does not translate into a sense of self-efficacy and actions to help victims. A thematic category was built -- Taking action, reinforcing and feeling -- "What was also motivating the aggressor to do this is the audience". Abstract

Executive functions are cognitive skills required to perform complex, adaptive, and socially acceptable behaviors. The existence of deficits in these functions may imply behavioral problems and violence. Thus, the objective of this integrative review of the literature was to identify relationships between executive functions and school bullying. The keywords "executive functions" and "bullying" were cross-referenced in the databases: LILACS, PsycINFO, ScieELO, Scopus and Web of Science. The methodological quality of the investigations was evaluated through the Checklist for Analytical Cross Sectional Studies. Among the 22 identified studies, seven met the inclusion criteria and were selected. All studies analyzed identified associations between practicing or suffering bullying with deficits in executive functions. Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic required non-pharmacological control measures, including schools shutting down and the implementation of remote education. This study aimed to review students' and education professionals' experiences during the pandemic and reflect on the school and educational psychology. It is a scoping review covering six databases, and 15 articles composed the corpus. There was a concern with higher education training and emerging demands for teachers and students who were required to adhere to different teaching-learning tools. Teachers' and students' evaluations are positive, considering that remote activities ensure flexibility and creativity. On the other hand, there is substantial concern about exclusion due to non-access or limited access to the internet or computers. The impact of this remote education experience will be evaluated in the future, but it is already possible to point out implications for psychology in the face of the "new normal.". Abstract

Background: School bullying represents an expressive phenomenon in Brazil and in the world, impacting in the health and development of children and adolescents. Objective: To analyze the relationships between student perceptions of school bullying and family interactions. Method: This is a qualitative study, in which 55 students participated. Semi-structured interviews were used in the data collection and analyzed according to the content analysis, in its thematic modality, in the software Atlas.Ti. The theoretical-methodological reference adopted was the Bioecological Theory of Development. Results: It was revealed that a) individual characteristics resulting from the development process involving the family are the factors that best explain bullying; b) negative experiences in the family context can favor the involvement of students in situations of bullying; and c) positive aspects of families can be considered as strengths to be explored by intervention programs. Conclusion: Relationships between perceptions about school bullying and family interactions were identified. The research increases understanding about the complexity of bullying and may subsidize initiatives for the training of professionals who work in the health area and have the families as a matrix of action in primary care.
