Battery energy storage systems (BESSs) are gaining increasing importance in the low carbon transformation of power systems. Their deployment in the power grid, however, is currently challenged by the economic viability of BESS projects. To drive the growth of the BESS industry, private, commercial, and institutional investments in large-scale BESS projects are needed. For financiers and investors, choosing an appropriate BESS installation location is a crucial task that requires important considerations. However, so far, studies targeting the BESS placement problem have mainly focused on minimizing operational losses, solving power quality issues, and improving the voltage profile of the system. Implementing such approaches only considers the operational feasibility of BESS at the installation site while ignoring its business feasibility. Therefore, in this paper, we approach the BESS placement problem from a business viewpoint by conducting a stage-level investigation of BESS projects. First, we identify the factors impacting the business feasibility of placement decisions in projects’ construction, connection, operation, and disposal stages and propose cost and time effective measures for making them business friendly. We investigate several factors such as profitability of grid services, integrability of renewable resources, affordability of connection charges, and the usability of BESS capacity. Second, we investigate the business potential of placing BESSs in different grid-levels of the power system and examine BESS connection procedures at those levels. Third, we implement the proposed approach for installing a BESS in the Danish island of Bornholm, for which, we investigate multiple locations of the Bornholm power system.

The article deals with the peculiarities of scientific and methodological support of the process of reforming the general secondary education through the lens of innovation of the New Ukrainian School, which approves the personality-oriented model of education, based on the ideas of child-centrism and the basic provisions of the activity approach as the basis of pedagogy of partnership (cooperation, cooperation), based on the principles of humanism, dialogical subject-subject interaction between all participants of the educational process (student - school - community - family), creative approach to development of each individual, understanding, joint actions and support conscious of personal responsibility for the results of social partnership. The main strategic priorities of the reorganization of the educational process are defined: a clear focus on the basic values of educational development, modernization of the content of education, reliance on competently oriented learning as a new type of organization of the educational process, the use of personality-oriented teaching methods and technologies, improving training. The need to develop multimodal student literacy, which includes various methods of working with linguistic, visual, audio, gestural and spatial information, is emphasized, which in turn provides a high level of activity in the learning process. It is noted that the use of game and information technologies, the implementation of cross-curricular lessons, the involvement of students with their own gadgets (technology “bring your device to the lesson”), the organization of work on creative projects as a means of developing the key competences of modern schoolchildren will contribute to increasing the interest in learning. An emphasis is placed on the urgency of rethinking the functions of the teacher who should act as the organizer and coordinator of the actions of the students, their mentor, facilitator and tutor; must have academic freedom, have advanced project management skills and organize a child-centered educational process., У статті висвітлено особливості науково-методичного забезпечення процесу реформування загальної середньої освіти через призму ідей Нової української школи. Наголошено на необхідності розвитку мультимодальної грамотності, впровадження інформаційних технологій, організації роботи над творчими проектами як засобами розвитку ключових компетенцій сучасних школярів. Акцентовано на актуальності переосмислення ролі вчителя в організації освітнього процесу та удосконаленні системи підготовки педагогічних кадрів.

La obsolescencia programada configura una conducta empresarial ampliamente advertible en los mercados, que ha adquirido relevancia regulatoria y litigiosa en el marco internacional, en virtud de las múltiples pesquisas de naturaleza pública y privada que han sido emprendidas para contener algunos de sus efectos. Así, el presente documento analiza los precedentes de la estrategia empresarial en cuestión, y expone las respuestas normativas y en sede de litigio que ha provocado en el ámbito disruptivo y tecnológico actual. Del mismo modo, emplea las sugerencias técnicas respecto de la economía circular, la responsabilidad social corporativa y el cambio de enfoque de negocio en un ecosistema finito, con el fin de proponer vías de respuesta eficaces a la obsolescencia programada, principalmente tecnológica, que actualmente impacta a los operadores. Planned obsolescence is becoming a widely perceived behavior of Companies because of the regulatory responses and the litigation it has been caused internationally for containing its effects. This paper analyzes the precedents of the aforementioned business strategy and exposes the normative responses and those based in litigation, that it has caused in the current disruptivetechnological environment. Also, it uses economic and juridical applied suggestions about the Circular Economy, the Corporate Social Responsibility and the change of the business approach in a finite ecosystem, to intend effective ways of responding to the planned obsolescence –mainly technological– which impacts on operators nowadays.

For many years international firms have been leveraging from the consistent growth rate of the Indian economy and, considering forecasts, will continue to do so in the future. This study identifies factors that influence the behaviour of business customers of international firms in emerging markets such as India. Based on the extant literature and in-depth personal interviews with practitioners, combined with a field survey, the authors have tried to understand the impact these factors have on the behaviour of business customers of international firms. The data were useful for testing the model developed using regression analysis and were found to be significant. The model demonstrates that the behaviour of local firms as customers of international firms in emerging markets is governed by factors such as business risk and a propensity to business sustainability. The model will be useful for international firms who wish to operate in emerging markets through local business firms that seek to associate with international firms.

It is very likely that human being is contributing to the process of global warming. Industrial activities such as cement production are among the largest sources of human-induced greenhouse gas emissions. Therefore, there are ongoing efforts to reduce the CO2 emissions attributed to the cement production. In order to be able to systematically identify, classify, and evaluate the most effective, applicable, and feasible CO2 improvement measures, it is essential to have an assessment framework, which has an environmental management perspective. Such a framework should be able to cover the widest range of potential CO2 improvement measures, therefore it has to have a wide system perspective and consider all material, and energy flows within the industry as useful resources. The first part of this thesis uses the concepts of Industrial Ecology and Industrial Symbiosis as the supporting theoretical concepts for developing such assessment framework. The framework has semi-qualitative approach for assessing different measures and is developed in two parts: (1) generic and (2) site-specific assessment. The first part considers general aspects of the measures such as level of Industrial Symbiosis (i.e. complexity of business approach), the potential of each measure for reducing CO2 emissions, and their technological maturity. The second part assesses the feasibility of the measures regarding the conditions of a specific cement producing system. Aspects such as organizational applicability, technical and infrastructural applicability, and the existing level of implementation of each measure are considered. In the second part of this thesis, the developed framework is applied on a selected cement production system which is a cluster composed of three cement plants in Germany (owned by CEMEX) referred to as the Cluster West. The result of the assessment provides insights about the state-of-the-art of CO2 improvement measures in cement industry in general and also demonstrates which of these measures are most (or least) suited for development in the Cluster West. The production system of the Cluster West has effectively applied CO2 improvement measures in areas such as producing blended cement products, using alternative fuels (and renewable fuels) for clinker production. In addition, its clinker production (the Kollenbach plant that is part of the Cluster West) has relatively good energy efficiency. According to the results of the assessment, CO2 improvement measures such as co-generation (producing electricity from excess heat of the plant), using renewable fuels, using alternative materials for clinker production, and increasing the usage of alternative fuels are among the most applicable choices for further implementation. The paper investigates the use of the Transformation-Flow-Value theory as a strategic tool in the development of the project production firm. When producing products such as ships, focus on value more than on cost may be the best approach, but in service industries such as construction, focus on flow may often be a far better approach than just looking at the costs. The paper presents a simple, general financial model to support this argument and not least to assist the reader in conducting similar analyses in his own company.

In the paper the results of scientific-theoretical research about influence of professional education on development of enterprise potential of young people are presented. In the conditions of performance of a strategic task to increase a share of small and medium business in Kazakhstan till 2020 year the important role its realization undoubtedly belongs to an education system. The researches of foreign scientists show that the system of professional education has a big importance on formation of business potential of students. Besides modern requirements of a labor market set a task for the graduates to have the knowledge and skills in the business sphere. The development of business potential of the student during training will lead to increase of its competitiveness in the market. The opinions of experts on existing problems in the course of training from the point of view of their focus on development at students of enterprise qualities are analyzed. The results of applied research of entrepreneurial orientation of students prove the existence by students the positive relation to business and desire to develop enterprise potential during study. Also, in the paper the main directions of improvement of system of formation and development of enterprise potential of students are formulated.
