Centered education in the midst of two inseparable elements, education and work, which was the main issue of research: to analyze the principles of polytechnic education may be present in the educational practices of the Agricultural College. Thus we have as complementary objectives: understanding the context of the field and the relationship with their young; identify theoretical and methodological elements of Polytechnic Education and some of his experiences as a reference for our analysis; characterize the educational project of the East and vocational education that is developed at the Agricultural College; analyze the relationship between work and education in the theoretical and practical teaching, tracing elements to demarcate how such relationships happen; systematize and analyze the educational practices developed in the Agricultural College. Stand out from the central and complementary objective the central research questions: Educational practices in Agricultural College are developed on the principles of a polytechnic education? The educational practices of the Agricultural College, and they are organized, make students able to apply theoretical knowledge which they appropriate also in practice and vice versa? In this training, become equally able to reflect and interpret reality and understand the organization of this work in society and self organizing? In an effort to demonstrate how it materializes and translates into potential education, research led to a dip in the pedagogical practices Agricultural College. The methodology adopted the case study, which won qualitative characteristic to enable a broad deepening the object subsidized by the theoretical framework for the development of research. Presents the analysis of the collected data, it summarizes what he considers more significant in terms of pedagogical practices, with all its contradictions and limitations, as well as all its polytechnic education potential. He sought the theoretical references as Marx and Engels (2004), Lunatcharski (1988). Pistrak (2015), Shulgin (2013), Saviani (1989, 2003), Machado (2015) Market (1996), Nosella (2007), Manacorda (2007) Sousa Jr (2010), Rodrigues (1998) among others, clarify and exemplify what happens and how the relationship between theory and practice in a differentiated education project, with challenges and polytechnics possibilities. One of the challenges for a polytechnic education is to maintain the collective integrated a coherent educational project pedagogically. Do not just make the integration of disciplines, if there is an ideal of common education to all. A razão da presente pesquisa, situada na linha de pesquisa Sociedade, Conhecimento e Educação, do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Educação, Curso de Mestrado, da Universidade Estadual do Oeste do Paraná, Campus de Francisco Beltrão, é analisar os desafios da educação politécnica no contexto do Colégio Agrícola de Francisco Beltrão/PR. Educação centrada no bojo de dois elementos inseparáveis, o ensino e o trabalho, o que constituiu a principal questão da pesquisa: analisar como os princípios da educação politécnica podem estar presentes nas práticas educativas Colégio Agrícola. Assim, temos como objetivos complementares: compreender o contexto do campo e a relação com seus jovens; identificar elementos teórico-metodológicos da Educação Politécnica e algumas de suas experiências como referência para nossas análises; caracterizar o projeto educativo da educação de Ensino Médio e Profissional que é desenvolvida no Colégio Agrícola; analisar a relação entre o trabalho e a educação no ensino teórico-prático, traçando elementos que permitam demarcar como tais relações acontecem; sistematizar e analisar as práticas educativas desenvolvidas no Colégio Agrícola. Destacam-se do objetivo central e complementares as questões centrais da pesquisa: As práticas educativas no Colégio Agrícola são desenvolvidas nos princípios de uma educação politécnica? As práticas educativas do Colégio Agrícola, bem como estas se organizam, tornam os alunos capazes de aplicar os conhecimentos teóricos dos quais se apropriam também na prática e vice-versa? Nessa formação, tornam-se igualmente capazes de refletir e interpretar a realidade, bem como compreender a organização do trabalho presente na sociedade e se autoorganizar? Num esforço de demonstrar como isso se materializa e se traduz em potencialidade de educação, a pesquisa propiciou um mergulho nas práticas pedagógicas do Colégio Agrícola. Como metodologia, adotou o estudo de caso, que ganhou característica qualitativa ao possibilitar um amplo aprofundamento no objeto subsidiado pelo referencial teórico para o desenvolvimento da pesquisa. Apresenta a análise dos dados coletados, sintetiza o que considera de mais significativo em termos de práticas pedagógicas, com todas as suas contradições e limites, bem como com toda sua potencialidade de educação politécnica. Buscou nos referenciais teóricos como Marx e Engels (2004), Lunatcharski (1988). Pistrak (2015), Shulgin (2013), Saviani (1989, 2003), Machado (2015) Market (1996), Nosella (2007), Manacorda (2007) Sousa Jr (2010), Rodrigues (1998) entre outros, esclarecer e exemplificar o que é e como acontece a relação teoria e prática num projeto de educação diferenciado, com desafios e possibilidades politécnicas. Um dos desafios para uma educação politécnica é manter o coletivo integrado a um projeto educativo coerente pedagogicamente. Não basta fazer a integração das disciplinas, se não existe um ideal de educação comum a todos.

古在由直（1864.1934）は、明治期の日本農学を代表する研究者のひとりである。東京帝国大学農科大学教授となり、さらに農科大学学長に就任し、その後に東京帝国大学総長に就任する。その功績には顕著なものがあり、その評価は高い。しかしながら古在が足尾銅山鉱毒事件に関わったこと、わが国の大学で初めて停年制を実施したことなどは、大学教授職としての視点から、これまで評価がなされてこなかった。 本稿は古在の事績を再評価することによって、農科大学の課題と大学教授職の役割を考察する。ごく最近に至るまでわが国では、大学教授職は研究と教育に携わることに限定されてきたが、古在による農科大学の帝国大学への移管、足尾銅山鉱毒事件の調査、農芸化学の確立、農業研究教育機関の整備、停年制の実施、関東大震災後の対応などの事績は、今後の大学教授職の役割を考えるうえで示唆に富んでいる。 古在は京都での少年時代の勉学、駒場農学校でのケルネルの教えなどによって、科学的知識の獲得というよりも、科学的態度や科学的方法を学ぶ。これが古在の科学者精神の核となり、大学教授職に就任後もこの精神が生かされる。わが国の大学は科学的知識や西欧からの知識の摂取において、制度面での葛藤を繰り返したが、それと同時に閉鎖性という特徴を強めた。さらに大学教授市場の非流動性も進んだ。この過程で教授職については、研究教育という限定された面でしか語られなくなる。 古在は農科大学の移管にあたって、他の分科大学よりも劣る点は、大学教授職の人材不足であると語る。したがって教授職としての役割は、研究教育体制の整備であり、それによる人材養成であるという。停年制の実施も、この考え方に基づいたものであった。停年制は計画的人事を可能とするので、人材養成につながる。古在は足尾銅山鉱毒問題の土壌調査や政府の会議を通じて、科学は社会とのつながりが必要であることを痛感し、さらに科学のあり方と大学のあり方は密接に関わっていることを感じる。 しかし科学は「象牙の塔」の構築に多くの労力をはらうようになり、古在が強調した社会とのつながりを急激に失っていく。これは国際社会からの隔絶をも意味した。古在は学生に対しても、その人格修養につとめるように説いているが、人格修養は閉鎖的な場では困難である。科学は本質的に閉鎖性をもつものであるので、古在はそれに対して常に警鐘を鳴らしていた。 古在によれば、科学の形成、社会問題への取り組み、研究教育体制の整備は、それぞれ無関係のものではない。科学者精神の発揮という共通点をもつ。したがって大学教授職の役割を考える場合には、単に教育と研究という側面からではなく、社会とのつながり、研究教育体制の整備という側面からも考える必要がある。, １ はじめに ２ 近代農学の摂取 ３ 農科大学の設立 ４ 帝国大学との関係 ５ 足尾銅山鉱毒事件と大学 ６ 農芸化学への寄与 ７ 農業研究教育機関の整備 ８ 研究教育体制と大学総長 ９ 停年制の実施と人材養成 10 研究教育体制の変容と教授職 11 震災復興と学生対応 12 結びにかえてー教授職とは

This Botswana Agriculture Public Expenditure Review (AgPER) is one of a series of similar studies undertaken in over a dozen countries in sub-Saharan Africa under the framework of a program coordinated by CAADP, supported by the Bill Melinda Gates Foundation and the CAADP Multi-Donor Trust Fund, and implemented by the World Bank. The AgPER presents data about actual expenditure for the period 2000 to 2013, with an outlook on the following two years. It presents public expenditure on agriculture structured by various dimensions and classifiers such as institutional, recurrent versus investment and capital, by sub-function and subsector and by spending unit. It analyzes expenditure levels, patterns and trends and compares expenditure patterns with policy objectives and strategies. Finally, it draws conclusions and recommendations in areas where future decisions could benefit from a clear view of an analysis of past spending or where it is deemed useful to support imminent policy formulation and decisions with a clearer understanding of the financial implications.

A new generation of information and communication technologies (ICTs) is finding a small foothold among poor, small-scale farmers in developing countries. Even so, many barriers still prevent poor rural people from accessing, using, and benefiting from new ICT tools and platforms, and those barriers are arguably higher for rural women. The relationship between gender and agriculture has been studied intensively over the years, and many agricultural interventions now include gender as a crosscutting issue or mainstream gender throughout their operations. Studies of the relationship between gender and the use of ICTs in agriculture have started to appear only quite recently, however. The Africa Region of the World Bank views ICTs as potentially transformative technology for rural development and seeks to incorporate the use of ICTs throughout its portfolio of projects. The present study was designed to examine the feasibility of integrating ICTs into two large investment programs: the Irrigation Development and Support Project (IDSP) in Zambia and the Kenya Agricultural Productivity and Agribusiness Project (KAPAP). The specifi c goal was to examine how ICT-based interventions might be designed to strengthen women s participation in commodity value chains under the two projects.

The Hamelmalo agricultural college environmental society (HACES) is a college based organization founded to facilitate the establishment of vital development projects in predominantly rural, disadvantaged communities throughout Eritrea. HACES plays a facilitative role in the process, enabling local communities and neighborhoods who chose to do so, to identify, plan and implement the socio-economic and environmental projects they most need in a democratic manner. This ‘bottom-up’ participatory approach delivers not only projects but training. Communities therefore receive the tools to create their own autonomous projects in the future - the essential goal of sustainable human development. In all types of learning situations, it is important to find each student where they are at the moment in knowledge. I have reflections about what animal experience students have with them when they begin their education. This thesis is about what home environment and in home environment acquried animal experience student at agricultural college have. This work is based on data collected through questionnaire survey done in two agricultural colleges in middle Sweden in the spring of 2007. Questions were divided into four blocks, historical data such as on the environment in which pupils are growing up, animal habit, why they read on agricultural school and future data on what plans students have for future education and careers. Notably current finding is that 44 % of students indicated that they had grown up in rural areas compared to 16 % of the Swedish population. Previous research has shown that 47 % of pupils at agricultural school have grown up on farms, which together with this investigation can be understood as if the school population at agricultural school does not represent the population as a whole in Sweden concerning access to the rural environment and animal habit. With the results above, it may be seen as remarkable that 51 % of the student have filled in that they are not grown up with some kind of animal activities in the home environment and 28 % of the students filled in that they helped little or not at all with animal husbandry at home while growing up. My hope is that this thesis will be followed by additional studies that examine what knowledge students have with them when they begin their education to further develop teaching at agricultural college. Vid alla typer av inlärningssituationer är det viktigt att finna varje elev där de för tillfället befinner sig kunskapsmässigt. Jag har ställt mig undrande till vilken djurvana eleverna har med sig när de börjar sin utbildning. Detta examensarbete handlar om vilken uppväxtmiljö och i uppväxtmiljön förvärvad djurvana har elever som studerar vid naturbruksgymnasium, inriktning djur? Examensarbetet bygger på data insamlat genom enkätundersökning gjord på två naturbruksgymnasier i mellersta Sverige under våren 2007. Enkätfrågorna har delats upp i fyra block gällande bakgrundsdata såsom i vilken miljö eleven är uppväxt, djurvana, varför de läser på naturbruksgymnasium samt framtidsdata gällande vad eleverna planerar för framtida utbildning och yrken. Noterbart gällande resultaten är att 44 % av eleverna uppger att de vuxit upp på landsbygden mot 16 % av den svenska befolkningen vilket kan läsas ut såsom att elever som är uppvuxna på landsbygden i större utsträckning söker sig till naturbruksgymnasium. Tidigare forskning har påvisat att 47 % av elever vid naturbruksgymnasium vuxit upp på lantbruk vilket tillsammans med denna undersökning kan tydas ut som om elevunderlaget vid naturbruksgymnasium inte representerar befolkningen i sin helhet gällande koppling till landsbygdsmiljö och djurvana. Mot detta står dock att 51 % av eleverna svarade att de inte vuxit upp med någon form av djurverksamhet i uppväxtmiljön och 28 % av de tillfrågade eleverna har i ingen eller liten utsträckning hjälp till med djurskötsel i hemmet under uppväxten. Min förhoppning är att detta examensarbete ska följas av fler undersökningar som granskar vad elever ha med sig kunskapsmässigt när de påbörjar sin utbildning allt för att vidareutveckla undervisningen vid naturbruksgymnasium.

An attempt to estimate in this study the impacts of some extension activities has lead to the identification of some specific training programs and livelihood projects that are deemed to augment agricultural productivity and rural income. Analysis however, has been limited to extension programs only. Hence, the impact of teaching and research must await future inquiry, until an appropriate data set becomes available.

The importance and growth of campus recreation is being felt by leaders throughout the country. Daniels (2, p. 38) summarizes the importance of the total organism in modern education as follows: "Ample justification for a consideration of, the problem of recreation may be found in the latest and most authoritative literature in the field of educat1on, as well as in a direct study of conditions found on many college campuses throughout the country. Rooted firmly in the philosophy of modern educatlon is the thought that the total organism must be given the opportunity for experiences of an all-round nature, with these experiences based on the social and biological needs which enable an individual to live most successfully in relation to his particular social group." Acceptance of this philosophy implies the responsibility of devising ways and means whereby campus recreation purposes may be achieved. By no manner of reasoning can such purposes be realized without due consideration of, and provision for, opportunities in a wide range of recreational activities, such as crafts, music, nature, dramatics, sports, and games. Furthermore, these opportunities must be made available to all students and not merely the most talented and highly trained.

This issue contains two articles regarding agricultural work in foreign countries. A survivor of the Nanking Incident writes one of these articles. Other contributions include an article on the colonization of Western Canada written by the Director of the C. N. R., and articles written by students of the Class of 1927. Student articles include a short story, work on a northern experimental station, food science for the baker, and the 1927 World's Poultry Congress in Ottawa. Continued in this issue is the column regarding the National Federation of Canadian University Students, with a focus on a visit from representatives of the Scottish Students Federation. The Alumni column provides an update of alumni activities. The Macdonald Institute column includes a report on the Western Ontario Girls' Conference, and alumnae updates.
