2. A comprehensive study of axion photoproduction off the nucleon in chiral effective field theory

We calculate the amplitudes of the axion photoproduction off the nucleon, i.e., $\gamma N \to a N$, within the framework of chiral effective field theory. Several different types of contributions are simultaneously included in our calculation, namely the nucleon exchanges up to next-to-leading order, the $a\gamma\gamma$ vertex and the vector meson exchanges in the $t$-channel. We utilize the existing hadronic inputs as much as possible to fix the unknown couplings. A comprehensive study of the phenomenological discussions is then provided in this work. Different mechanisms in the $\gamma N \to a N$ processes manifest distinct behaviors in the total and differential cross sections, which could provide useful quantities to distinguish different axion models., Comment: 25 pages, 9 figures

3. A Landscape-Aware Differential Evolution for Multimodal Optimization Problems

How to simultaneously locate multiple global peaks and achieve certain accuracy on the found peaks are two key challenges in solving multimodal optimization problems (MMOPs). In this paper, a landscape-aware differential evolution (LADE) algorithm is proposed for MMOPs, which utilizes landscape knowledge to maintain sufficient diversity and provide efficient search guidance. In detail, the landscape knowledge is efficiently utilized in the following three aspects. First, a landscape-aware peak exploration helps each individual evolve adaptively to locate a peak and simulates the regions of the found peaks according to search history to avoid an individual locating a found peak. Second, a landscape-aware peak distinction distinguishes whether an individual locates a new global peak, a new local peak, or a found peak. Accuracy refinement can thus only be conducted on the global peaks to enhance the search efficiency. Third, a landscape-aware reinitialization specifies the initial position of an individual adaptively according to the distribution of the found peaks, which helps explore more peaks. The experiments are conducted on 20 widely-used benchmark MMOPs. Experimental results show that LADE obtains generally better or competitive performance compared with seven well-performed algorithms proposed recently and four winner algorithms in the IEEE CEC competitions for multimodal optimization., Comment: under review

4. Dietary Iron Intake Has Long-Term Effects on the Fecal Metabolome and Microbiome

Iron is essential for life, but its imbalances can lead to severe health implications. Iron deficiency is the most common nutrient disorder worldwide, and iron disregulation in early life has been found to cause long-lasting behavioral, cognitive, and neural effects. However, little is known about the effects of dietary iron on gut microbiome function and metabolism. In this study, we sought to investigate the impact of dietary iron on the fecal metabolome and microbiome by using mice fed with three diets with different iron content: an iron deficient, an iron sufficient (standard), and an iron overload diet for seven weeks. Additionally, we sought to understand whether any observed changes would persist past the 7-week period of diet intervention. To assess this, all feeding groups were switched to a standard diet, and this feeding continued for an additional 7 weeks. Analysis of the fecal metabolome revealed that iron overload and deficiency significantly alter levels of peptides, nucleic acids, and lipids, including di- and tri-peptides containing branched-chain amino acids, inosine and guanosine, and several microbial conjugated bile acids. The observed changes in the fecal metabolome persist long after the switch back to a standard diet, with the cecal gut microbiota composition and function of each group distinct after the 7-week standard diet wash-out. Our results highlight the enduring metabolic consequences of nutritional imbalances, mediated by both host and gut microbiome, which persist after returning to original standard diets.

5. Learning to Transfer for Evolutionary Multitasking

Evolutionary multitasking (EMT) is an emerging approach for solving multitask optimization problems (MTOPs) and has garnered considerable research interest. The implicit EMT is a significant research branch that utilizes evolution operators to enable knowledge transfer (KT) between tasks. However, current approaches in implicit EMT face challenges in adaptability, due to the use of a limited number of evolution operators and insufficient utilization of evolutionary states for performing KT. This results in suboptimal exploitation of implicit KT's potential to tackle a variety of MTOPs. To overcome these limitations, we propose a novel Learning to Transfer (L2T) framework to automatically discover efficient KT policies for the MTOPs at hand. Our framework conceptualizes the KT process as a learning agent's sequence of strategic decisions within the EMT process. We propose an action formulation for deciding when and how to transfer, a state representation with informative features of evolution states, a reward formulation concerning convergence and transfer efficiency gain, and the environment for the agent to interact with MTOPs. We employ an actor-critic network structure for the agent and learn it via proximal policy optimization. This learned agent can be integrated with various evolutionary algorithms, enhancing their ability to address a range of new MTOPs. Comprehensive empirical studies on both synthetic and real-world MTOPs, encompassing diverse inter-task relationships, function classes, and task distributions are conducted to validate the proposed L2T framework. 6. Charmoniumlike Channels $1^{+}$ with Isospin $1$ from Lattice and Effective Field Theory

Many exotic charmoniumlike mesons have already been discovered experimentally, of which the $Z_c$ mesons with isospin 1 are prominent examples. We investigate $J^{PC}=1^{+\pm}$ states with flavor $\bar cc \bar qq$ ($q=u,d$) in isospin 1 using lattice QCD. This is the first study of these mesons employing more than one volume and involving frames with nonzero total momentum. We utilize two $N_f=2+1$ CLS ensembles with $m_{\pi}\simeq 280\,$MeV. As the simulations are performed with unphysical quark masses and at a single lattice spacing of $a=0.086\,$fm, our results provide only qualitative insights. Resulting eigenenergies are compatible or just slightly shifted down with respect to noninteracting energies, where the most significant shifts occur for certain $D\bar D^*$ states. Both channels $1^{+\pm}$ have a virtual pole slightly below the threshold if $D\bar D^*$ is assumed to be decoupled from other channels. In addition, we perform a coupled channel analysis of $J/\psi \pi$ and $D\bar D^*$ scattering with $J^{PC}=1^{+-}$ within an effective field theory framework. The $J/\psi \pi$ and $D\bar D^*$ invariant-mass distributions from BESIII and finite-volume energies from several lattice QCD simulations, including this work, are fitted simultaneously. All fits yield two poles relatively close to the $D\bar D^*$ threshold and reasonably reproduce the experimental $Z_c$ peaks. They also reproduce lattice energies up to slightly above the $D\bar{D}^*$ threshold, while reproduction at even higher energies is better for fits that put more weight on the lattice data. Our findings suggest that the employed effective field theory can reasonably reconcile the peaks in the experimental line shapes and the lattice energies, although those lie close to noninteracting energies. 7. Axion production in the $\eta\to \pi\pi a$ decay within $SU(3)$ chiral perturbation theory

We study the axion and axion-like particle production from the $\eta\to\pi\pi a$ decay within the $SU(3)$ chiral perturbation theory up to the one-loop level. The conventional $SU(3)$ chiral low energy constants are found to be able to reabsorb all the divergences from the chiral loops in the $\eta\to\pi\pi a$ decay amplitude, and hence render the amplitude independent of the renormalization scale. The unitarized $\eta\to\pi\pi a$ decay amplitudes are constructed to take into account the $\pi\pi$ final-state interactions and also properly reproduce the perturbative results from the chiral perturbation theory. Detailed analyses between the perturbative amplitudes and the unitarized ones are given in the phenomenological discussions. By taking the values of the chiral low energy constants in literature, we predict the Dalitz distributions, the spectra of the $\pi\pi$ and $a\pi$ systems, and also the branching ratios of the $\eta\to\pi\pi a$ process by varying $m_a$ from 0 to $m_\eta-2m_{\pi}$., Comment: 25 pages, 7 figures

8. Multicolor photometry of LEO mega-constellations Starlink and OneWeb

The development of low earth orbit (LEO) mega-constellation fundamentally threatens ground-based optical astronomical observations. To study the photometric properties of the LEO mega-constellations, we used the Xinglong 50 cm telescope to conduct a large-sample, high-precision, and multicolor target-tracking photometry of two typical LEO Mega-constellations: Starlink and OneWeb. Over a three-month observation period starting on 2022 January 1st, we collected 1,447 light curves of 404 satellites in four typical versions: Starlink v1.0, DarkSat, VisorSat, Starlink v1.5, and OneWeb. According to data statistics, Starlink v1.0 has the smallest median magnitude at clear and SDSS $gri$ band, and OneWeb is the dimmest bus. The brightness of Starlink v1.5 is slightly brighter than VisorSat. We construct a detailed photometric model with solar phase angle variations by calculating the illumination-visibility geometry based on the orbital parameters. Our data analysis shows that the solar phase angle is the significant characteristic which influencing Starlink satellites' brightness, but it is not sensitive to OneWeb satellites. VisorSat and Starlink v1.5 version, which are equipped with deployable visors, have significantly reduced scattered light compared to the previous Starlink v1.0 version. The multiband LOWESS and color-index are analyzed in characterizing the energy and color features of LEO mega-constellation satellites. This work found that the proportion of scattered sunlight mitigation achieved with VisorSat and Starlink v1.5 was 55.1\% and 40.4\%, respectively. The color index of different buses shows an evident clustering feature. Our observation and analysis could provide valuable quantitative data and photometric models, which can contribute to assessing the impact of LEO mega-constellations on astronomical observations.

10. Axion-pion scattering at finite temperature in chiral perturbation theory and its influence in axion thermalization

Axion-pion scattering amplitudes at finite temperatures are calculated within chiral perturbation theory up to the one loop level. Unitarization procedure is implemented to these amplitudes in order to extend the applicable range of energy and temperature. The influence of the thermal axion-pion scattering amplitudes on the $a\pi\to\pi\pi$ cross sections and the axion thermalization rate is investigated, with the emphasis on the comparison with the zero-temperature-amplitude case. A brief discussion on the cosmological implication of the axion thermalization rate, that is calculated by using the $a\pi\to\pi\pi$ amplitudes at finite temperatures, is also given. The thermal corrections to the axion-pion scattering amplitudes can cause around a $10\%$ shift of the determination of the axion decay constant $f_a$ and its mass $m_a$, comparing with the results by using the $a\pi\to\pi\pi$ amplitudes at zero temperature., Comment: 26 pages, 7 figures

11. InPTC: Integrated Planning and Tube-Following Control for Prescribed-Time Collision-Free Navigation of Wheeled Mobile Robots

In this article, we propose a novel approach, called InPTC (Integrated Planning and Tube-Following Control), for prescribed-time collision-free navigation of wheeled mobile robots in a compact convex workspace cluttered with static, sufficiently separated, and convex obstacles. A path planner with prescribed-time convergence is presented based upon Bouligand's tangent cones and time scale transformation (TST) techniques, yielding a continuous vector field that can guide the robot from almost all initial positions in the free space to the designated goal at a prescribed time, while avoiding entering the obstacle regions augmented with safety margin. By leveraging barrier functions and TST, we further derive a tube-following controller to achieve robot trajectory tracking within a prescribed time less than the planner's settling time. This controller ensures the robot moves inside a predefined ``safe tube'' around the reference trajectory, where the tube radius is set to be less than the safety margin. Consequently, the robot will reach the goal location within a prescribed time while avoiding collision with any obstacles along the way. The proposed InPTC is implemented on a Mona robot operating in an arena cluttered with obstacles of various shapes. Experimental results demonstrate that InPTC not only generates smooth collision-free reference trajectories that converge to the goal location at the preassigned time of $250\,\rm s$ (i.e., the required task completion time), but also achieves tube-following trajectory tracking with tracking accuracy higher than $0.01\rm m$ after the preassigned time of $150\,\rm s$. This enables the robot to accomplish the navigation task within the required time of $250\,\rm s$.

In this paper, we propose a novel formation controller for nonholonomic agents to form general parametric curves. First, we derive a unified parametric representation for both open and closed curves. Then, a leader-follower formation controller is designed to form the parametric curves. We consider directed communications and constant input disturbances rejection in the controller design. Rigorous Lyapunov-based stability analysis proves the asymptotic stability of the proposed controller. We study the $J/\psi \pi$ and $D\bar{D}^*$ coupled-channel system within a covariant framework. The $J/\psi \pi$ and $D\bar{D}^*$ invariant-mass distributions measured at 4.23~GeV and 4.26~GeV by BESIII and the finite-volume energy levels from recent lattice QCD simulations are simultaneously fitted. Phase shifts and inelasticities of the $J/\psi \pi$ and $D\bar{D}^*$ scattering are predicted using the resulting amplitudes. Poles corresponding to the $Z_c(3900)$ state are found in the complex energy plane and their couplings with $J/\psi \pi$ and $D\bar{D}^*$ are determined. 14. Coupled-channel $D^\ast K^\ast -D_s^\ast \rho$ interactions and the origin of $T_{c\bar{s}0}(2900)$

Motivated by the recent observation of $T_{c\bar{s}0}(2900)^0$ and $T_{c\bar{s}0}(2900)^{++}$ in the $D_s \pi$ invariant mass distributions, we investigate $D^{\ast}K^{\ast}$ interactions in a coupled-channel approach. We show that the relativistic corrections could be significant for the energy far away from the threshold. Within the hidden local symmetry formalism, a sizable attraction interaction is found in the $J=0$ isospin triplet sector that can form a bound or a virtual state, which is consistent with the experimentally observed $T_{c\bar{s}0}(2900)$. By reproducing a $D_s^*\rho$-$D^*K^*$ bound/virtual state with the pole mass equal to that of the $T_{c\bar{s}0}(2900)$ measured by LHCb in the sector $(I,J)=(1,0)$, we determine the unknown parameter in the loop function, and then search for possible poles in the sectors of $I=1$, $J=1,$ 2 and $I=0$, $J=0$, 1, 2. The predicted resonances provide a useful reference for the future experimental studies of the $(C,S)=(1,1)$ systems and can be also helpful to unravel the nature of the $T_{c\bar{s}0}(2900)$.10, Comment: 10 pages, 6 figures, 3 tables

Abstract Background The diagnosis of tuberculous pleurisy (TP) presents a significant challenge due to the low bacterial load in pleural effusion (PE) samples. Cell-free Mycobacterium tuberculosis DNA (cf-TB) in PE samples is considered an optimal biomarker for diagnosing TP. This study aimed to evaluate the applicability of cf-TB testing across diverse research sites with a relatively large sample size. Methods Patients suspected of TP and presenting with clinical symptoms and radiological evidence of PE were consecutively enrolled by treating physicians from 11 research sites across 6 provinces in China between April 2020 and August 2022. Following centrifugation, sediments obtained from PE were used for Xpert MTB/RIF (Xpert) and mycobacterial culture, while the supernatants were subjected to cf-TB testing. This study employed a composite reference standard to definite TP, which was characterized by any positive result for Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTB) through either PE culture, PE Xpert, or pleural biopsy. Results A total of 1412 participants underwent screening, and 1344 (95.2%) were subsequently enrolled in this study. Data from 1241 (92.3%) participants were included, comprising 284 with definite TP, 677 with clinically diagnosed TP, and 280 without TP. Abstract Background Lung adenocarcinoma is a high-mortality rate cancer. Within this category, Lung mucinous adenocarcinoma (LMAC) is a rare and distinct subtype of lung adenocarcinoma necessitating further investigation. The study was launched to compare the difference of survival features between LMAC and lung non-mucinous adenocarcinoma (LNMAC) and to investigate the significance and demand for developing a new staging system tailored to LMAC. Methods This retrospective study assessed the suitableness of the current staging system for LMAC. It compared the overall survival (OS) between LMAC and LNMAC from 2004 to 2020 (LNMAC: 160,387; LMAC: 6,341) and instituted a novel classification framework for LMAC based on US population. Verification group consisting of patients from two Chinese medical centers from 2010 to 2018 (n = 392) was set to ascertain the applicability of this novel system. The primary endpoint was OS. To minimize the bias, propensity score match (PSM) was employed. Survival analysis and Log-rank test were executed to explore the survival features of LMAC. Abstract This study aimed to investigate the effects of tea green leafhopper damage on the sensory quality and metabolite composition of Oriental Beauty by using tea leaves from different varieties of tea plants and processing factories. The results indicated that tea green leafhopper damage could reduce bitterness and increase the level of fruity aroma, which was related to the content changes of catechin components and alcohol substances. Furthermore, the tea green leafhopper salivary treatment experiment revealed that the decrease of catechin content and increase of theaflavin content were mainly influenced by the action of saliva and mechanical injury, and changes in volatile components such as linalool oxidation were responsible for the alteration in aroma. These findings provide a theoretical reference for the aroma formation and quality improvement of Oriental Beauty.

18. Galactic diffuse gamma-ray emission from GeV to PeV energies in light of up-to-date cosmic ray measurements

The diffuse gamma-ray emission between 10 and 1000 TeV from the Galactic plane was recently measured by the Large High Altitude Air Shower Observatory (LHAASO). These observations will help tremendously in constraining the propagation and interaction of cosmic rays in the Milky Way. Additionally, new measurements of CR spectra reach a very high precision up to 100 TeV energies, revealing multiple spectral structures of various species. In this work, we confront the model prediction of the diffuse gamma-ray emission, based on up-to-date measurements of the local cosmic ray spectra and simplified propagation setup, with the measurements of diffuse gamma-rays. To better constrain the low-energy part of the model, we analyze the 14.6 years of Fermi-LAT data to extract the Galactic diffuse emission between 1 and 500 GeV from the same sky regions of LHAASO, after subtracting the contribution from known sources and the isotropic diffuse gamma-ray background. The joint Fermi-LAT and LHAASO spectra thus cover a very wide energy range from 1 GeV to 1 PeV with small gaps from 0.5 to 10 TeV. Compared with the prediction, we find that clear excesses between several GeV and ~60 TeV of the diffuse emission exist. Possible reasons to explain the excesses may include unresolved sources or more complicated propagation models. We illustrate that an exponential-cutoff-power-law component with an index of -2.40 and cutoff energy of ~30 TeV is able to account for such excesses.

Precise measurements of the spectra of secondary and primary cosmic rays are crucial for understanding the origin and propagation of those energetic particles. The High Energy cosmic-Radiation Detection (HERD) facility onboard China`s Space Station, which is expected to operate in 2027, will push the direct measurements of cosmic ray fluxes precisely up to PeV energies. In this work, we investigate the potential of HERD on studying the propagation of cosmic rays using the measurements of boron, carbon, and oxygen spectra. We find that, compared with the current results, the new HERD measurements can improve the accuracy of the propagation parameters by 8\% to 40\%. Colorectal cancer (CRC) is driven by genomic alterations in concert with dietary influences, with the gut microbiome implicated as an effector in disease development and progression. While meta-analyses have provided mechanistic insight into patients with CRC, study heterogeneity has limited causal associations. Using multi-omics studies on genetically controlled cohorts of mice, we identify diet as the major driver of microbial and metabolomic differences, with reductions in α diversity and widespread changes in cecal metabolites seen in high-fat diet (HFD)-fed mice. In addition, non-classic amino acid conjugation of the bile acid cholic acid (AA-CA) increased with HFD. We show that AA-CAs impact intestinal stem cell growth and demonstrate that Ileibacterium valens and Ruminococcus gnavus are able to synthesize these AA-CAs. This multi-omics dataset implicates diet-induced shifts in the microbiome and the metabolome in disease progression and has potential utility in future diagnostic and therapeutic developments.

An extended Roy equation including a bound state pole is used to study $\pi\pi$ scatterings at unphysical large pion masses when $\sigma$ becomes a bound state in one situation and stays as a broad resonance in the other case. The coupled integral equations at large pion masses are solved by taking the lattice driving terms and the Regge amplitudes as inputs. Relying on the solutions of Roy equations that respect unitarity, analyticity and crossing symmetry, we give predictions to the phase shifts with $IJ=00,11,20$ in the elastic energy region. We then perform analytic continuation into the complex $s$ plane to search for various poles, all of which are inside the validity domain of the Roy equation. We study the properties of the lowest multiplet of light-flavor tensor meson resonances, i.e. $f_2(1270)$, $a_2(1320)$, $K_2^*(1430)$, and $f_2'(1525)$, within the resonance chiral theory approach. The higher-order resonance chiral operators, including the light-quark mass and $1/N_C$ corrections, are simultaneously incorporated in our study. The use of resonance chiral expressions allows us to analyze not only the relevant experimental data but also in the meantime the lattice results at unphysical quark masses, including the masses of the lowest multiplet of tensor resonances and their decay widths into two pseudoscalar mesons. Within the effective Lagrangian approach, we carry out a unified study of the $J/\psi (\psi')\to VP$, $J/\psi \to P\gamma$ and relevant radiative decays of light-flavor hadrons. Large amount of experimental data, including the various decay widths and electromagnetic form factors, are fitted to constrain the numerous hadron couplings. Relative strengths between the strong and electromagnetic interactions are revealed in the $J/\psi \to VP$ and $\psi' \to VP$ processes. The effect from the strong interaction is found to dominate in the $J/\psi \to \rho\pi$ decay, while the electromagnetic interaction turns out to be the dominant effect in $\psi' \to \rho\pi$ decay, which provides an explanation to the $\rho\pi$ puzzle. For the $J/\psi\to K^{*}\bar{K}+\bar{K}^{*}K$ and $\psi' \to K^{*}\bar{K}+\bar{K}^{*}K$, the former process is dominated by the strong interactions, and the effects from the electromagnetic parts are found to be comparable with those of strong interactions in the latter process. Different $SU(3)$ breaking effects from the electromagnetic parts appear in the charged and neutral channels for the $\psi' \to K^{*}\bar{K}+\bar{K}^{*}K$ processes explain the rather different ratios between $B(\psi'\to K^{*+}K^{-}+K^{*-}K^{+})/B(J/\psi\to K^{*+}K^{-}+K^{*-}K^{+})$ and $B(\psi'\to K^{*0}\bar{K}^{0}+\bar{K}^{*0}K^{0})/B(J/\psi\to K^{*0}\bar{K}^{0}+\bar{K}^{*0}K^{0})$., Comment: 20 pages, 5 figures

Abstract Objectives We aimed to develop MRI-based radiomic models (RMs) to improve the diagnostic accuracy of radiologists in characterizing intestinal fibrosis in patients with Crohn’s disease (CD). Methods This retrospective study included patients with refractory CD who underwent MR before surgery from November 2013 to September 2021. Resected bowel segments were histologically classified as none-mild or moderate-severe fibrosis. RMs based on different MR sequence combinations (RM1: T2WI and enhanced-T1WI; RM2: T2WI, enhanced-T1WI, diffusion-weighted imaging [DWI], and apparent diffusion coefficient [ADC]); RM3: T2WI, enhanced-T1WI, DWI, ADC, and magnetization transfer MRI [MTI]), were developed and validated in an independent test cohort. The RMs’ diagnostic performance was compared to that of visual interpretation using identical sequences and a clinical model. Results The final population included 123 patients (81 men, 42 women; mean age: 30.26 ± 7.98 years; training cohort, n = 93; test cohort, n = 30). The area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC) of RM1, RM2, and RM3 was 0.86 (p = 0.001), 0.88 (p = 0.001), and 0.93 (p = 0.02), respectively. The decision curve analysis confirmed a progressive improvement in the diagnostic performance of three RMs with the addition of more specific sequences. All RMs performance surpassed the visual interpretation based on the same MR sequences (visual model 1, AUC = 0.65, p = 0.56; visual model 2, AUC = 0.63, p = 0.04; visual model 3, AUC = 0.77, p = 0.002), as well as the clinical model composed of C-reactive protein and erythrocyte sedimentation rate (AUC = 0.60, p = 0.13). Conclusions The RMs, utilizing various combinations of conventional, DWI and MTI sequences, significantly enhance radiologists’ ability to accurately characterize intestinal fibrosis in patients with CD. Critical relevance statement The utilization of MRI-based RMs significantly enhances the diagnostic accuracy of radiologists in characterizing intestinal fibrosis. Key Points MRI-based RMs can characterize CD intestinal fibrosis using conventional, diffusion, and MTI sequences. The RMs achieved AUCs of 0.86–0.93 for assessing fibrosis grade. Abstract Although it is well documented that mountains tend to exhibit high biodiversity, how geological processes affect the assemblage of montane floras is a matter of ongoing research. Here, we explore landform-specific differences among montane floras based on a dataset comprising 17,576 angiosperm species representing 140 Chinese mountain floras, which we define as the collection of all angiosperm species growing on a specific mountain. Our results show that igneous bedrock (granitic and karst-granitic landforms) is correlated with higher species richness and phylogenetic overdispersion, while the opposite is true for sedimentary bedrock (karst, Danxia, and desert landforms), which is correlated with phylogenetic clustering. Furthermore, we show that landform type was the primary determinant of the assembly of evolutionarily older species within floras, while climate was a greater determinant for younger species. Our study indicates that landform type not only affects montane species richness, but also contributes to the composition of montane floras. To explain the assembly and differentiation of mountain floras, we propose the ‘floristic geo-lithology hypothesis’, which highlights the role of bedrock and landform processes in montane floristic assembly and provides insights for future research on speciation, migration, and biodiversity in montane regions.

In the present work, a novel high-V high-Mn twinning induced plasticity (TWIP) steel for cryogenic storage tank applications was developed. Furthermore, innovative two-stage cooling processes encompassing ultra-fast cooling and the subsequent furnace cooling were proposed. Effects of cooling process on the microstructure and mechanical properties of the experimental steel were investigated. It was observed that with the change in cooling process (the initial temperature of furnace cooling rised gradually), the dwell time of hot-rolled plates above 600 °C was extended. The extension in dwell time facilitated the precipitation of secondary phase particles, leading to the change in average diameter and volume fraction of secondary phase particles. The yield strength increased with the increasing initial temperature of furnace cooling due to the combined effect of small-sized secondary phase particles inside the grains and large-sized ones located at the grain boundaries. The occurrence of intergranular cracking, primarily caused by the presence of large-sized secondary phase particles at the grain boundaries, was the main factor responsible for the significant reduction in total elongation. The small-sized secondary phase particles inside the grains inhibited deformation twinning, while the large-sized ones at the grain boundaries weaken the binding force between grain boundaries, which ultimately resulted in a decrease in cryogenic impact toughness. The implementation of two-stage cooling processes effectively mitigated the trade-off between yield strength and cryogenic impact toughness, offering a novel approach and valuable insights for optimizing the strength and toughness characteristics of cryogenic high-Mn steels.

Methods This cross-sectional study selected 13,473 participants from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) 2001–2018 dataset. Weighted multivariable logistic regression and subgroup analysis were employed to evaluate the relationships between TyG index, TG/HDL-C ratio, and HF prevalence, respectively. Additionally, smooth curve fitting was utilized to analyze the dose–response relationships. Results A total of 13,473 obesity or overweight people without diabetes were included in this study through screening, among whom 291 (2.16%) had comorbid HF. Abstract Background Extensive hepatocyte mortality and the absence of specific medical therapy significantly contribute to the unfavorable prognosis of acute liver failure (ALF). Ferroptosis is a crucial form of cell death involved in ALF. In this study, we aimed to determine the impact of Mediator complex subunit 1 (Med1) on ferroptosis and its potential hepatoprotective effects in ALF. Results Med1 expression is diminished in the liver of lipopolysaccharide (LPS)/D-galactosamine (D-GalN)-induced ALF mice, as well as in hepatocytes damaged by H2O2 or TNF-α/D-GalN in vitro. The mechanism by which Med1 inhibits erastin-induced ferroptosis in hepatocytes involves the upregulation of nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 (Nrf2) and its downstream antioxidant genes heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1), glutamate cysteine ligase catalytic (GCLC), and NAD(P)H quinone oxidoreductase 1 (NQO1). Furthermore, Med1 overexpression suppresses the transcription of proinflammatory cytokines tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) and interleukin-6 (IL-6) in the liver of mice with LPS/D-GalN-induced ALF. Conclusion Overall, our research findings indicate that Med1 suppresses ferroptosis and alleviates liver injury in LPS/D-GalN-induced ALF through the activation of Nrf2. These findings substantiate the therapeutic viability of targeting the Med1-Nrf2 axis as a means of treating individuals afflicted with ALF. Graphical Abstract

Abstract Without intervention, a considerable proportion of patients with metabolism‐associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD) will progress from simple steatosis to metabolism‐associated steatohepatitis (MASH), liver fibrosis, and even hepatocellular carcinoma. However, the molecular mechanisms that control progressive MAFLD have yet to be fully determined. Here, we unraveled that the expression of the N6-methyladenosine (m6A) methyltransferase METTL14 is remarkably downregulated in the livers of both patients and several murine models of MAFLD, whereas hepatocyte-specific depletion of this methyltransferase aggravated lipid accumulation, liver injury, and fibrosis. Conversely, hepatic Mettl14 overexpression alleviated the above pathophysiological changes in mice fed on a high-fat diet (HFD). Notably, in vivo and in vitro mechanistic studies indicated that METTL14 downregulation decreased the level of GLS2 by affecting the translation efficiency mediated by YTHDF1 in an m6A-depedent manner, which might help to form an oxidative stress microenvironment and accordingly recruit Cx3cr1 + Ccr2 + monocyte-derived macrophages (Mo-macs). In detail, Cx3cr1 + Ccr2 + Mo-macs can be categorized into M1-like macrophages and S100A4-positive macrophages and then further activate hepatic stellate cells (HSCs) to promote liver fibrosis. Further experiments revealed that CX3CR1 can activate the transcription of S100A4 via CX3CR1/MyD88/NF-κB signaling pathway in Cx3cr1 + Ccr2 + Mo-macs. Restoration of METTL14 or GLS2, or interfering with this signal transduction pathway such as inhibiting MyD88 could ameliorate liver injuries and fibrosis. Taken together, these findings indicate potential therapies for the treatment of MAFLD progression.

Abstract To improve the trajectory tracking performance of planar motors against disturbances, model predictive position control (MPPC) methods using the non‐linear disturbance observer (NDO) are proposed in this study. Based on the single‐axis dynamic model with disturbances, a single‐axis NDO is designed using an extended state observer approach. The designed NDO is expressed as a third‐order non‐linear state‐space equation in which the position error, velocity error, and lumped disturbance in the single axis are taken as the state variables. Two MPPC methods are developed based on the NDO. In the first MPPC, the disturbance is embedded into the prediction model using the NDO, and a controller is designed to minimise a quadratic cost function, which is established by applying the prediction model with disturbance. The output of the controller is the control action. In the second MPPC, a controller is used to minimise the quadratic cost function, which is built by employing the prediction model without disturbance. The sum of the output of the controller and the compensated disturbance estimated by the NDO is the control action. The comparative experiment is performed on a planar motor system self‐developed in the laboratory. The effectiveness of the proposed methods is verified via the experimental results.

The system takes the embedded system single chip as the core, and organizes the gamma ray induction module, keying switch, radiation source braid locking mechanism, on-site alarm equipment, NB-IoT communication module, GPS positioning system and other related equipment to realize real-time operators warning and remote alarming to the monitoring platform. Thus, timely management of the fallen radiation source can be realized. What's more, position of radiation source braid is monitored by radiation source braid locking mechanism, gamma-ray induction module and keying switch. This idea solves the bottleneck problem of difficulty in transmitting real-time remote monitoring signal by NB-IoT technology. Single-chip microcontroller is innovatively embedded around the radiation source to monitor whether the source falls off. As a result, when part or all of the source braid are not returned to the storage location of the flaw detector, the gamma ray induction module, keying switch, and radiation source braid locking mechanism remind the operator of the dangerous situation. At the same time, NB-IoT transmission system alarms companies and regulators of safety risks. In conclusion, radiation source can be found timely when it falls off, to avoid radiation accident. Two bottlenecks related to installing GPS positioning system can be solved, that the GPS positioning system is installed on the flaw detector, and the radioactive source is still unable to be controlled, and that the GPS positioning system requires power to transmit the signal back to the regulatory platform or to the platform of the flaw detection enterprise. This article's ideas can solve this problem through the advantages of NB-IoT.

We study the mixing of the QCD/QCD-like axion and light-flavor mesons $\pi^0, \eta, \eta'$ within the framework of $U(3)$ chiral perturbation theory up to next-to-leading order in this work. The axion-meson mixing formulas are calculated order by order in the $U(3)$ $\delta$-expansion scheme, namely the joint expansions of the momentum, light-quark masses and $1/N_C$. We provide axion-meson mixing relations in terms of the $\pi^0$-$\eta$-$\eta'$ mixing parameters and their masses. The recent lattice simulations on the $\eta$-$\eta'$ systems turn out to be able to offer valuable inputs to constrain the unknown low-energy constants. The relation of the mass and decay constant of the axion is then further explored based on our updated calculations. The two-photon couplings of the light-flavor mesons, together with the axion, are also investigated in the $U(3)$ chiral theory up to next-to-leading order in the $\delta$-counting scheme., Comment: 24 pages, 3 figures. Precise measurements of the boron-to-carbon and boron-to-oxygen ratios by DAMPE show clear hardenings around $100$ GeV/n, which provide important implications on the production, propagation, and interaction of Galactic cosmic rays. In this work we investigate a number of models proposed in literature in light of the DAMPE findings. These models can roughly be classified into two classes, driven by propagation effects or by source ones. Among these models discussed, we find that the re-acceleration of cosmic rays, during their propagation, by random magnetohydrodynamic waves may not reproduce sufficient hardenings of B/C and B/O, and an additional spectral break of the diffusion coefficient is required. The other models can properly explain the hardenings of the ratios. However, depending on simplifications assumed, the models differ in their quality in reproducing the data in a wide energy range. The models with significant re-acceleration effect will under-predict low-energy antiprotons but over-predict low-energy positrons, and the models with secondary production at sources over-predict high-energy antiprotons. Objectives: Diet can modulate systemic inflammation, while inflammation is a critical contributory factor of frailty. However, longitudinal data on the association between dietary inflammatory index (DII) and frailty are limited, and the intermediate mechanisms remain unclear. This study aimed to examine the association between DII and incident frailty and the potential mediating roles of frailty-related biomarkers. Design: Prospective cohort study. Setting: The Mr. OS and Ms. OS (Hong Kong) study. Participants: A total of 3,035 community-dwelling men and women aged above 65 years without frailty at baseline were included. Measurements: DII scores were calculated using the locally validated food frequency questionnaire. Incident frailty at year four was defined using the Fried frailty phenotype. Logistic regression was used to examine the association between DII and frailty onset. Mediation analysis was used to explore the mediating roles of frailty-related biomarkers in the DII-frailty association. Results: During four years of follow-up, 208 individuals developed frailty. Compared with the lowest tertile of DII, the highest tertile was associated with an increased risk of incident frailty (OR: 1.82; 95% CI: 1.17–2.82; p = 0.008) after adjustment for relevant confounders. The DII-frailty association was significant in men but not in women. Furthermore, increasing serum homocysteine, decreasing serum folate, and reducing estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) mediated 11.6%, 7.1%, and 9.6 % of the total relation between DII and frailty onset, respectively. Conclusion: In this cohort study, a pro-inflammatory diet was associated with a higher risk of frailty onset, mediated by homocysteine, folate, and renal function.

Osteoporosis is a common systemic metabolic disease characterized by a decrease in bone density and bone mass, destruction of bone tissue microstructure, and increased bone fragility leading to fracture susceptibility. Pharmacological treatment of osteoporosis is the focus of current research, and anti-osteoporosis drugs usually play a role in inhibiting bone resorption, promoting bone formation, and having a dual role. However, most of the drugs have the disadvantages of single target and high toxic and side effects. There are many types of traditional Chinese medicines (TCM), from a wide range of sources and mostly plants. Herbal plants have unique advantages in regulating the relationship between osteoporosis and the immune system, acupuncture therapy has significant therapeutic effects in combination with medicine for osteoporosis. The target cells and specific molecular mechanisms of TCM in preventing and treating osteoporosis have not been fully elucidated. At present, there is a lack of comprehensive understanding of the pathological mechanism of the disease. Therefore, a better understanding of the pathological signaling pathways and key molecules involved in the pathogenesis of osteoporosis is crucial for the design of therapeutic targets and drug development. In this paper, we review the development and current status of anti-osteoporosis drugs currently in clinical application and under development to provide relevant basis and reference for drug prevention and treatment of osteoporosis, with the aim of promoting pharmacological research and new drug development.

People’s perception of and preference for cities have a close relationship with the shaping and transmission of the city’s image. This article explores the factors that influence the audience’s city preference by applying empathy theory to the mobile urban music “Xi'an People’s Song.” The branding of urban music and its mobile socialization appear to affect urban music empathy positively, although awareness has no significant effect. Urban music empathy fully mediates between branding and goodwill and between the social function of urban music and goodwill. However, the moderating effect of people’s familiarity with urban culture is not significant for urban music empathy and urban preference. The hypothesized relationships are further illustrated on this basis, and the optimization of urban music as a creative medium for promoting city image is discussed.
