深宇宙探査を対象とした新しいサンプルリターンミッションに向けて薄殻エアロシェル型カプセルが提案されている．本カプセルのコンセプトにおける一番の特徴は，軽量・大面積エアロシェルを用いることで空力加熱を避けることである．本カプセルはパラシュートレスでの帰還が想定されていることから全速度域で空力的に安定に飛行することが求められている．実機は，直径0.8m，総質量10kg, 機軸周りの慣性モーメント0.58kg m2, 機軸垂直周りの慣性モーメント0.32kg m2のカプセルを想定している．薄殻エアロシェル型カプセルの低速域における動的不安定性を評価するために，2022年7月1日にゴム気球を用いた自由飛行実験RERA(Rubber balloon Experiment for Reentry capsule with thin Aeroshell) を実施した．気球実験機として，直径0.8m，総質量1.56kg，機軸周りの慣性モーメント0.033kg m2, 機軸垂直周りの慣性モーメント0.020kg m2のカプセルを使用した．カプセルは高度25kmにおいてゴム気球から切り離され，自由飛行を開始し，海上着水した．実験中のオンボードセンサーによる計測データとカメラによる撮影画像は地上局へ送信された．自由飛行においてカプセルは姿勢振動していたもののピッチ方向に縦回転することはなかった．自由飛行時のカプセル周りの流れ場はマッハ数0.15以下，レイノルズ数10(exp 5) オーダーであった．このことから再突入時と同オーダーのレイノルズ数環境下で試験を実施できた．実験機は低速域においてピッチ・ヨー方向の振動運動が発散しないことが示唆された．, A sample return mission to deep space has been proposed. The orbital velocity in the atmospheric entry in the deep space sample return reaches 15 km/s, which results in extremely severe aerodynamic heating to the sample return capsule (SRC). To reduce the severe heating environment by efficient aero-deceleration at high altitudes, a new concept of SRC with a lightweight and large-area aeroshell is proposed. The SRC is needed to be aerodynamically stable at all speeds because it is expected to be operated without a parachute in the atmospheric entry. To evaluate dynamic stability in attitude for capsule with thin aeroshell, the Rubber balloon Experiment for Reentry capsule with thin Aeroshell (RERA) was conducted on July 1st, 2022. The capsule with a mass of 1.56 kg and a diameter of 0.8 m was dropped from the balloon at an altitude of 25 km, and then, started the free flight. In operation, data measured by onboard sensors and photographs by a camera were successfully transmitted to the ground station. The capsule was in low oscillation in attitude without a vertical rotation. The flow field around the capsule during the operation was 0.15 in Mach number in maximum and an order of magnitude 10(exp 5) in Reynolds number. This indicated that the present experiment reproduced a flow field around the actual deep space SRC at low speed. JAXAにおけるこれまでの再突入ミッションの熱防護系(TPS)開発・評価において、主として２基のアーク加熱風洞が重要な役割を果たしてきたが、これまで以上に遠くの外惑星からのサンプルリターンミッションや、有人化を視野に入れた大型の機体に装着される熱防護系評価ニーズなどを含む将来ミッションへの対応を考慮した場合、これらの既存アーク加熱風洞では十分な評価をできない可能性があった。その様な背景からこれら将来のミッションにおいて想定される気流・環境条件において熱防護系材料の適切な評価を行うために必要なアーク風洞試験における気流パラメータを明確化した。これまでの評価試験においては一般に、熱防護材料の熱分解や溶融だけではなく表面における酸化反応を評価する目的で、実飛行環境における加熱率と同時に表面圧力を再現する必要があった。そのため、実飛行気流総エンタルピーと比べ風洞気流総エンタルピーが低すぎる場合、定まった圧力下で所定の加熱率を達成するために小さな曲率半径である必要が生じ、結果的にあまりにも小さな供試体による試験をしなければならない状況となる。熱防護材料特性評価の目的では直径40mm程度の供試体サイズが最低でも必要と考えると、我々の初期検討によると再突入速度15km/sの将来ミッションに対応するためのアーク風洞において、風洞総エンタルピー60MJ/kgを包含する運用エンベロープを有する必要があることが分かった。しかしながら作動ガスにおける酸素分率を低く抑えることで、酸素分圧を変えることなく表面圧力を高圧化することができ、それによりより大きな供試体においても高い加熱率を達成することができるものと考えられた。実際、窒素で80%希釈した空気を使用することで再突入速度15km/sの飛行環境の模擬を40MJ/kgの風洞総エンタルピーにより実現可能であることが分かった。更にその場合、加熱率及び表面酸素分圧だけではなく、酸素や昇華により発生するC3の境界層を通した拡散速度に関しても、実飛行環境より低い風洞総エンタルピーの風洞気流により再現可能であることが示された。この様な手法を用いることで、JAXAの将来サンプルリターンミッションにおいて予測される代表的な飛行環境に対応する熱防護材料評価試験を十分実現できるような将来JAXAにおいて整備すべきアーク加熱風洞への技術的要求をここで明確化した。再突入速度はサンプルリターンミッションと比べ低いもののより大型で複雑な熱防護系を有するミッションに関して、実機を想定したプロトタイプモデルの熱防護系そのものを実飛行と「等価な」熱的環境の気流に直接さらすようなシステム評価試験へのニーズも発生するものと考えられるが、既設JAXAアーク風洞はいずれもφ50mmを超える直径の供試体加熱試験に対応しておらず、これらのニーズには必ずしも応えることができていない。そこで低軌道もしくは月帰還軌道からの大型機体の再突入ミッションにおける代表的気流環境を想定し、JAXAが整備すべき将来アーク風洞への追加要求として明確化した。その際、そのようなシステム評価試験においては供試体サイズとしてφ150mm~φ200mmを想定した。これらの設備能力要求を包括的に満たすような設備概要を提案した。その設備規模として設備入力電力17MWが推定されたが、これは作動ガス流量120g/sでの高エンタルピ運用（40MJ/kg）にけるエネルギー変換効率として大きな不確かさがあるものの25%を想定した結果である。, Two major arc heated wind tunnels in JAXA both have contributed to projects of reentry missions for years, though their capabilities may not meet requirements of future missions, which include sample return from even further astronomical objects, or vehicles equipped with larger size of Thermal Protection System (TPS). Figured out is the crucial flow parameters in the arc heated wind tunnel testing with which proper evaluations for the TPS materials can be made under expected flow conditions for future missions. Reproducing both the heating rate and the surface pressure has been required in most situations where not only the pyrolysis or fusion but also oxidization is to consider. Accordingly, too low wind tunnel total enthalpy compared with the flight would cause very small size of testing specimen to achieve the heating rate with the specific pressure. Provided that ϕ40 mm in diameter is m+AF3inimum allowable size for evaluating TPS material characteristics, our preliminary analysis suggests that the total enthalpy of our future arc heated wind tunnel should cover as high as 60 MJ/kg considering to deal with the case of the reentering velocity of 15 km/s. Decreasing the fraction of oxygen in the working gas however allows higher impact pressure to achieve the required stagnation heating rate with the partial pressure of oxygen unchanged. In fact, the wind tunnel total enthalpy of 40 MJ/kg is found enough to reproduce reentering environments even at speeds of 15 km/s using 80% nitrogen diluted air as working gas. It is further shown that not only the heat flux or the oxygen partial pressure at the surface but diffusion of oxygen and of C3 by sublimation through the boundary layer can also be reproduced under lower total enthalpies than the flight conditions. By means of the strategy, depicted are requirements for the future arc-heated wind tunnel in JAXA which is well capable of evaluating TPS materials for future sample-return missions, after predicting representative flight environments. For missions with lower reentering speed but with larger and complicated TPS system, however, system evaluation would be sometimes required where partial prototype models are exposed to flight 'equivalent' thermal environment, though either of our current arc-heated wind tunnels in JAXA is not capable of testing specimen larger than ϕ50 mm in diameter. Defining representative flight environments of expecting large-size reentering missions from the low earth orbit and from lunar return orbit, additive requirements for the future arc-heated wind tunnel in JAXA for such missions are described supposing minimum size of specimen to be ϕ150 mm∼ ϕ200 mm. 体積2,000 m3 の皮膜に網をかぶせたスーパープレッシャー気球の飛翔試験をB20-03実験とし実施した。皮膜に網をかぶせたスーパープレッシャー気球を気球に牽引されることなく飛翔させたのは初めてである。気球は通常どおり、セミダイナミック放球法で放球されたが、気球は放球直後から所期の上昇速度が得られず、さらに速度の低下が見られた。バラストを投下して5 m/s 以上の上昇速度を維持した後、安全な海域に到達した時点で、破壊機構を駆動し、気球を降下させた。この上昇速度低下の問題の調査を収集されたデータおよび、回収された気球の調査の両面から進めた。搭載カメラによる気球の映像からはガス漏れが発生したことが判明した。また、スプーラー解放直前まではロードセルによって測定されたスプーラーにかかる上向き張力に変化がなく、放球直後の上昇速度が予測よりも小さかったことから、それがスプーラー解放直後に発生したことが判明した。回収された気球の調査により、刃物で切り付けたような直線的でかつ縁に伸びがある特異なスリット状の穴が数100 個存在していることが見出された。同様の穴を再現する条件を検討し、網線が10 m/s 強の高速で衝突した際に衝撃破壊によって発生した可能性が高いことを見出した。この対策として皮膜を多層化すること、および、放球時に気球を凖静的にたてあげる新しい放球方法を用いることを検討している。, A flight test of a super-pressure balloon with a volume of 2,000 m3 covered by a net was conducted as a B20-03 experiment. This was the first time that this type of super-pressure balloon flew without being suspended from another balloon. The balloon was launched using the semi-dynamic launching method as usual, however, the ascending speed of the balloon was lower than expected immediately after the launching and was slowing down. Ballast were dropped to maintain the ascending speed of 5 m/s. After the balloon reached the safe area, the tear mechanism was functioned to break the balloon. The problem of the low ascending speed was investigated by analyzing the obtained data and recovered balloon. It was confirmed that the gas was leaked from the analysis of the balloon images obtained by the on-board camera, and was confirmed that the leak started after the spooler release from the constant upward tension of the spooler measured by the load cell just before the spooler release and the slow initial ascending speed of the balloon compared with the theoretical estimation. The examination of the recovered balloon revealed that the balloon was damaged by hundreds of unique slit holes with creep bands around the edges. After investigating the conditions for making similar holes, it is probable that it was caused by impact destruction that the net hit the balloon envelope with a speed of 10 m/s or more at the time of spooler release.
