Abstract Background Chickens play a crucial role as the primary global source of eggs and poultry, and the quality of rooster semen significantly impacts poultry reproductive efficiency. Therefore, it is imperative to comprehend the regulatory mechanisms underlying sperm development. Results In this study, we established transcriptome profiles of lncRNAs, miRNAs, and mRNAs in 3 testis tissues and 3 epididymis tissues from “Jing Hong No.1” roosters at 24, 35, and 64 weeks of age. Using the data, we conducted whole transcriptome analysis and constructed a ceRNA network. We detected 10 differentially expressed mRNAs (DEmRNAs), 33 differentially expressed lncRNAs (DElncRNAs), and 10 differentially expressed miRNAs (DEmiRNAs) in the testis, as well as 149 DEmRNAs, 12 DElncRNAs, and 10 DEmiRNAs in the epididymis. These genes were found to be involved in cell differentiation and development, as well as various signaling pathways such as GnRH, MAPK, TGF-β, mTOR, VEGF, and calcium ion pathways. Subsequently, we constructed two competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) networks comprising DEmRNAs, DElncRNAs, and DEmiRNAs. Furthermore, we identified four crucial lncRNA-mRNA-miRNA interactions that govern specific biological processes in the chicken reproductive system: MSTRG.2423.1-gga-miR-1563-PPP3CA and MSTRG.10064.2-gga-miR-32-5p-GPR12 regulating sperm motility in the testis; MSTRG.152556.1-gga-miR-9-3p-GREM1/THYN1 governing immunomodulation in the epididymis; and MSTRG.124708.1-gga-miR-375-NDUFB9/YBX1 controlling epididymal sperm maturation and motility. Conclusions Whole transcriptome sequencing of chicken testis and epididymis screened several key genes and ceRNA regulatory networks, which may be involved in the regulation of epididymal immunity, spermatogenesis and sperm viability through the pathways of MAPK, TGF-β, mTOR, and calcium ion. These findings contribute to our comprehensive understanding of the intricate molecular processes underlying rooster spermatogenesis, maturation and motility.

Intramuscular fat (IMF) is an important indicator for evaluating meat quality. Transcriptome sequencing (RNA-seq) is widely used for the study of IMF deposition. Machine learning (ML) is a new big data fitting method that can effectively fit complex data, accurately identify samples and genes, and it plays an important role in omics research. Therefore, this study aimed to analyze RNA-seq data by ML method to identify differentially expressed genes (DEGs) affecting IMF deposition in pigs. In this study, a total of 74 RNA-seq data from muscle tissue samples were used. A total of 155 DEGs were identified using a limma package between the two groups. 100 and 11 significant genes were identified by support vector machine recursive feature elimination (SVM-RFE) and random forest (RF) models, respectively. A total of six intersecting genes were in both models. KEGG pathway enrichment analysis of the intersecting genes revealed that these genes were enriched in pathways associated with lipid deposition. These pathways include α-linolenic acid metabolism, linoleic acid metabolism, ether lipid metabolism, arachidonic acid metabolism, and glycerophospholipid metabolism. Four key genes affecting intramuscular fat deposition, PLA2G6, MPV17, NUDT2, and ND4L, were identified based on significant pathways. The results of this study are important for the elucidation of the molecular regulatory mechanism of intramuscular fat deposition and the effective improvement of IMF content in pigs.

ABSTRACT: Sperm motility is an important index for the evaluation of semen quality. Improving sperm motility is important to improve reproductive performance, promote breeding process, and reduce production cost. However, the molecular mechanisms regulating sperm motility in chickens remain unclear. In this study, histological observation and whole-transcriptome analysis were performed on testicular tissue of chickens with high and low sperm motility. Histological observations showed that roosters with high sperm motility exhibited better semen quality than those with low sperm motility. In addition, the germinal epithelial cells of roosters with low sperm motility were loosely arranged and contained many vacuoles. RNA-seq results revealed the expression of 23,033 mRNAs, 2,893 lncRNAs, and 515 miRNAs in chicken testes. Among them, there were 417 differentially expressed mRNAs (DEmRNAs), 106 differentially expressed lncRNAs (DElncRNAs), and 15 differentially expressed miRNAs (DEmiRNAs) between high and low sperm motility testes. These differentially expressed genes were involved in the G protein-coupled receptor signaling pathway, cilia structure, Wnt signaling, MAPK signaling, GnRH signaling, and mTOR signaling. By integrating the competitive relationships between DEmRNAs, DElncRNAs, and DEmiRNAs, we identified the regulatory pathway of MSTRG.3077.3/MSTRG.9085.1-gga-miR-138-5p-CADM1 and MSTRG.2290.1-gga-miR-142-3p-GNAQ/PPP3CA as crucial in the modulation of chicken sperm motility. This study provides new insights into the function and mechanism of ceRNAs in regulating sperm motility in chicken testes.

ABSTRACT: Intramuscular fat (IMF) is an important factor affecting chicken quality. However, the age-related mechanism of IMF deposition has not yet been elucidated. In this study, the IMF, phospholipids (PL), triglycerides (TG), and fatty acid (FA) content in the breast muscle of Beijing-You chicken (BJY) at 1, 56, 98, and 120 d of age was measured, and mRNA and miRNA sequencing was integrated to explore the regulatory genes of IMF deposition. The results showed that the IMF content of BJY at 1 d of age was significantly higher than that at later stage of birth (P < 0.05). The transcriptome sequencing results showed that 7, 225 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) and 243 differentially expressed miRNAs (DE-miRNAs) were identified. The cluster analysis showed that the expression of DEGs and DE-miRNAs at 1 d of age was significantly different from that at later stages of birth. Furthermore, a potential mRNA-miRNA regulatory network related to IMF deposition was established by weighted gene co-expression network analysis (WGCNA); gga-miR-29c-3p-PIK3R1, gga-miR-6701-3p-PTEN, gga-miR-363-3p-PTEN, gga-miR-1563-WWP1, gga-miR-449c/d-5p-TRAF6, and gga-miR-6701-3p-BMPR1B were identified as key mRNA-miRNA pairs for the regulation of IMF deposition. These results will help elucidate the mechanism of IMF formation mediated by miRNAs in chickens, and provide a theoretical foundation for the genetic improvement of broiler meat quality.

As a pivotal player in spermatogenesis, the blood-testis barrier (BTB) made from junction apparatus coexisting in Sertoli cells (SCs) is impaired with an increase in age and ultimately induces spermatogenic dysfunction or even infertility. It has been corroborated that bone marrow mesenchymal stem cell (BMSC) transplantation can efficiently repair and regenerate the testicular function. As vital mediators of cell-to-cell communication, MSC-derived exosomes (Exos) can directly serve as therapeutic agents for tissue repair and regeneration. However, the therapeutic value of BMSC-Exos in aging-induced BTB damage remains to be confirmed. In this study, we explored that the old porcine testes had defective autophagy, which aggravated BTB disruption in SCs. BMSC-Exos could decrease ROS production and NLRP3 inflammasome activation but enhanced autophagy and tight junction (TJ) function in D-gal-triggered aging porcine SCs and mouse model testes, according to in vitro and in vivo experiments. Furthermore, rapamycin, NAC, MCC950, and IL-1Ra restored the TJ function in D-gal-stimulated aging porcine SCs, while BMSC-Exos’ stimulatory effect on TJ function was inhibited by chloroquine. Moreover, the treatment with BMSC-Exos enhanced autophagy in D-gal-induced aging porcine SCs by means of the AMPK/mTOR signal transduction pathway. These findings uncovered through the present study that BMSC-Exos can enhance the BTB function in aging testes by improving autophagy via the AMPK/mTOR signaling pathway, thereby suppressing ROS production and NLRP3 inflammasome activation.

Exosomes are a subtype of extracellular vesicles (EVs) with a size range between 30 and 150 ​nm, which can be released by the majority of cell types and circulate in body fluid. They function as a long-distance cell-to-cell communication mechanism that modulates the gene expression profile and fate of target cells. Increasing evidence has indicated exosomes' central role in regulating various complex reproductive processes. However, to our knowledge, a review that focally and vividly describes the role of exosomes in reproductive development is still lacking. This review highlights our knowledge about the contribution of exosomes to early mammalian reproduction, such as gametogenesis, fertilization, early embryonic development, implantation, placentation and pregnancy. The discussion is primarily drawn from literature pertaining to the mammalian lineage with emphasis on the roles of exosomes in human reproduction and laboratory and livestock models.

Chicken meat quality and flavor are determined by abundant metabolites. In this study, HPLC-QTRAP-MS-based metabolomic analysis was used to evaluate the characteristic metabolites in the breast muscle of Beijing You chickens aged 56, 98, and 120 days. A total of 544 metabolites in 32 categories were identified, among which amino acids and organic acids were the most abundant. 60 and 55 differential metabolites were identified between 56 and 98 days of age, 98 and 120 days of age, respectively. The content of l-carnitine, l-methionine and 3-hydroxybutyrate increased significantly at 98 or 120 days of age. Arginine biosynthesis, purine metabolism, alanine, aspartic acid, and glutamic acid metabolism were important metabolic pathways that affect chicken meat flavor. This study can help to elucidate the metabolic mechanism of breast muscle during Beijing You chicken development and provide a theoretical reference for the improvement of chicken meat quality and flavor.

Abstract Background Natural astaxanthin (ASTA) has strong antioxidant properties and has been widely used as a health product to improve human health. However, the effects of ASTA on the reproductive performance of aging roosters have been poorly studied. We aimed to investigate the effects of dietary ASTA on semen quality and antioxidant capacity in aging roosters and to explore the potential mechanism of semen quality change via anti-oxidation defense system. ABSTRACT: As the antioxidant capacity of sperm declines with age in roosters, the objective of the present study was to determine the effects of different levels of pyrroloquinoline quinone disodium (PQQ.Na2) on antioxidative and sperm quality parameters of aging layer breeder roosters. A total of ninety-six 63-wk-old Jinghong No. 1 layer breeder roosters were randomly assigned to 4 treatments (0, 0.5, 1, 2 mg/kg PQQ.Na2) for 6 wk. Antioxidant activity and semen parameters were assessed biweekly. The dietary administration of PQQ.Na2 significantly increased semen quality (semen volume, sperm motility, straightness, progressive motility, curvilinear velocity, straight-line velocity, and amplitude of lateral head displacement) and antioxidant capacity (T-SOD, GSH-Px, hydroxyl radical scavenging ability, and/or superoxide scavenging capacity) in seminal plasma in aging layer breeder roosters. Whereas, PQQ.Na2 supplementations significantly decreased malondialdehyde (MDA) concentration in seminal plasma in aging layer breeder roosters. Supplementation with 1 mg/kg dietary PQQ.Na2 as an antioxidant supplement could increase sperm quality and antioxidant activity of aging layer breeder roosters, while a higher dose (2 mg/kg) did not result in further increment.

The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of different levels of dietary natural astaxanthin (ASTA) (from the microalga Haematococcus pluvialis) and storage at 4°C and 25°C on the quality of eggs from laying hens. Nongda No. 3 laying hens (n = 450) were randomly allocated to 1 of 5 dietary treatments. Each treatment had 6 replicates of 15 hens each. All birds were assigned to a corn–soybean meal–based diet containing 0, 20, 40, 80, or 160 mg/kg natural ASTA for 4 wk. A total of 540 eggs were collected at the end of the 4-week feeding trial. Sixty fresh eggs were collected and measured for egg quality within 24 h after collection. The other 480 eggs were used in a factorial arrangement with 5 dietary ASTA levels, 4 storage times, and 2 storage temperatures. During the 8-week storage period at 4°C and 25°C, egg quality measurements were performed every 2 wk on 12 eggs per treatment. No significant effects (P > 0.05) on yolk index, yolk pH, Haugh units, weight loss, or eggshell strength were observed with increasing concentrations of dietary ASTA. The flavor of chicken meat is influenced by muscle metabolites and regulatory genes and varies with age. In this study, the metabolomic and transcriptomic data of breast muscle at four developmental stages (days 1, 56, 98, and 120) of Beijing-You chickens (BJYs) were integrated and 310 significantly changed metabolites (SCMs) and 7,225 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were identified. A Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) enrichment analysis showed that SCMs and DEGs were enriched in amino acid, lipid, and inosine monophosphate (IMP) metabolism pathways. Furthermore, genes highly associated with flavor amino acids, lipids, and IMP were identified by a weighted gene co-expression network analysis (WGCNA), including cystathionine β-synthase (CBS), glycine amidinotransferase (GATM), glutamate decarboxylase 2 (GAD2), patatin-like phospholipasedomain containing 6 (PNPLA6), low-specificity L-threonine aldolase (ItaE), and adenylate monophosphate deaminase 1 (AMPD1) genes. A regulatory network related to the accumulation of key flavor components was constructed. In conclusion, this study provides new perspectives regarding the regulatory mechanisms of flavor metabolites in chicken meat during development.

ABSTRACT: Sperm motility is a crucial trait in chicken production, and the epididymis is an essential organ in the reproductive system. Currently, the molecular mechanisms underlying sperm motility in the epididymis are unclear. In this study, 8 cDNA libraries and eight miRNA libraries were constructed from roosters (4 chickens per group) with diverse sperm motility. After a comparative analysis of epididymal transcriptomes, we detected 84 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) using the edgeR package. Integrated interpretation of DEGs indicated that MMP9, SLN, WT1, PLIN1, and LRRIQ1 are the most promising candidate genes affecting sperm motility in the epididymis of roosters. MiR-146a, mir-135b, and mir-205 could play important regulatory roles in sperm maturation, capacitation, and motility. Additionally, a comprehensive analysis of the mRNA and miRNAs transcriptomes in silico identified a promising gene-miRNA pair miR-135b-HPS5, which may be a vital regulator of sperm motility in the epididymis. Our findings provide novel integrated information of miRNAs and genes that shed light on the regulatory mechanisms of fertility in roosters.

Doublesex and mab-3-related transcription factor (dmrt) genes are widely distributed across various biological groups and play critical roles in sex determination and neural development. Here, we applied bioinformatics methods to exam cross-species changes in the dmrt family members and evolutionary relationships of the dmrt genes based on genomes of 17 fish species. All the examined fish species have dmrt1–5 while only five species contained dmrt6. Most fish harbored two dmrt2 paralogs (dmrt2a and dmrt2b), with dmrt2b being unique to fish. In the phylogenetic tree, 147 DMRT are categorized into eight groups (DMRT1–DMRT8) and then clustered in three main groups. Selective evolutionary pressure analysis indicated purifying selections on dmrt1–3 genes and the dmrt1–3–2(2a) gene cluster. Similar genomic conservation patterns of the dmrt1–dmrt3–dmrt2(2a) gene cluster with 20-kb upstream/downstream regions in fish with various sex-determination systems were observed except for three regions with remarkable diversity. Synteny analysis revealed that dmrt1, dmrt2a, dmrt2b, and dmrt3–5 were relatively conserved in fish during the evolutionary process. While dmrt6 was lost in most species during evolution. The high conservation of the dmrt1–dmrt3–dmrt2(2a) gene cluster in various fish genomes suggests their crucial biological functions while various dmrt family members and sequences across fish species suggest different biological roles during evolution. This study provides a molecular basis for fish dmrt functional analysis and may serve as a reference for in-depth phylogenomics.

Abstract Embryonic cryopreservation has a relatively low survival rate because of cytoskeletal damage. However, molecular anti-freezing mechanisms have been largely unexplored. This study investigated the significance of RhoA, involved in embryonic development, and the Rho/RhoA-associated kinase (ROCK) signalling pathway in cryopreservation. The anti-freezing mechanism in murine dormant embryos, compared with normal blastocysts, was assessed by combining molecular, physiological and pharmacological approaches. Real-time PCR and western blotting experiments showed high RhoA expression in cryo-dormant and dormant embryos. RhoA GTPases were overexpressed on the surface of trophectoderm cells in dormant embryos. Treatment with Y-27632, a ROCK antagonist, decreased survival of both normal and dormant blastocysts, while recombinant RhoA protein remarkably increased survival, after freeze–thawing, of normal hatched blastocysts. Our findings elucidated the molecular mechanism of anti-freezing, involving RhoA phosphorylation, meditated by the Rho/ROCK signalling pathway, in hatched and diapaused murine blastocysts. In addition, evidence for a potentially protective additive suggests a new method for improving the anti-freezing potential of mammalian embryos, without protecting the zona pellucida.

Fatty traits are very important in pig production. However, the role of microRNAs (miRNAs) in fat deposition is not clearly understood. In this study, we compared adipose miRNAs from three full-sibling pairs of female Landrace pigs, with high and low backfat thickness, to investigate the associated regulatory network. We obtained an average of 17.29 million raw reads from six libraries, 62.27% of which mapped to the pig reference genome. A total of 318 pig miRNAs were detected among the samples. Among them, 18 miRNAs were differentially expressed (p-value < 0.05, |log2fold change| ≥ 1) between the high and low backfat groups; 6 were up-regulated and 12 were down-regulated. Functional enrichment of the predicted target genes of the differentially expressed miRNAs, indicated that these miRNAs were involved mainly in lipid and carbohydrate metabolism, and glycan biosynthesis and metabolism. Comprehensive analysis of the mRNA and miRNA transcriptomes revealed possible regulatory relationships for fat deposition. Negatively correlated mRNA–miRNA pairs included miR-137–PPARGC1A, miR-141–FASN, and miR-122-5p–PKM, indicating these interactions may be key regulators of fat deposition. Our findings provide important insights into miRNA expression patterns in the backfat tissue of pig and new insights into the regulatory mechanisms of fat deposition in pig.

The molecular mechanism regulated by microRNAs (miRNAs) that underlies postnatal hypertrophy of skeletal muscle is complex and remains unclear. Here, the miRNAomes of longissimus dorsi muscle collected at five postnatal stages (60, 120, 150, 180, and 210 days after birth) from Large White (commercial breed) and Min pigs (indigenous breed of China) were analyzed by Illumina sequencing. We identified 734 miRNAs comprising 308 annotated miRNAs and 426 novel miRNAs, of which 307 could be considered pig-specific. Comparative analysis between two breeds suggested that 60 and 120 days after birth were important stages for skeletal muscle hypertrophy and intramuscular fat accumulation. A total of 263 miRNAs were significantly differentially expressed between two breeds at one or more developmental stages. In addition, the differentially expressed miRNAs between every two adjacent developmental stages in each breed were determined. Notably, ssc-miR-204 was significantly more highly expressed in Min pig skeletal muscle at all postnatal stages compared with its expression in Large White pig skeletal muscle. Based on gene ontology and KEGG pathway analyses of its predicted target genes, we concluded that ssc-miR-204 may exert an impact on postnatal hypertrophy of skeletal muscle by regulating myoblast proliferation. The results of this study will help in elucidating the mechanism underlying postnatal hypertrophy of skeletal muscle modulated by miRNAs, which could provide valuable information for improvement of pork quality and human myopathy.

Epidermal growth factor (EGF) has been shown to facilitate the in vitro maturation of sheep oocytes, and enhance embryo's capability for further development. However, such kind of molecular mechanism has not yet been elucidated. In the present study, we investigated the effect of EGF-mediated mitogen-activated protein kinases 3 and 1 (MAPK3/1) pathway on in vitro maturation of sheep oocytes. U0126, a specific inhibitor of MEK (MAPK kinase), was added into the maturation culture medium to block the EGF-mediated MAPK3/1 pathway with different doses. Then, the nuclear maturation of sheep oocytes was examined. Additionally, the effect of EGF-mediated MAPK3/1 on cytoplasmic maturation was examined though in vitro fertilization and embryonic development. The rate of germinal vesicle breakdown (GVBD) after 6 h of culture with 10⁻⁴ mol/l of U0126 (50.4%) was significantly decreased compared with control (67.2%, p < 0.05), and the first polation body (PB1) extrusion rate after 22 h of culture in drug treatment was also significantly inhibited compared with control (28.6% vs. 48.4%, p < 0.05). However, 10-6 mol/l U0126 had slight effect on oocyte nuclear maturation. The normal distribution rate of α-tubulin in the oocytes after 22 h of in vitro maturation was significantly decreased in the 10⁻⁴ mol/l U0126 group (54%) compared with control (68%, p < 0.05). After in vitro fertilization, the cleavage rate in drug treatments (56.8% in 10⁻⁶ mol/l U0126 group and 42.6% in 10⁻⁴ mol/l U0126 group) was significantly decreased compared with control (72.3%, p < 0.01). The blastocyst rate in 10⁻⁴ mol/l U0126 group (17.6%) was also significantly decreased compared with control (29.9%, p < 0.05). Collectively, these results suggest that EGF-mediated MAPK3/1 pathway is conducive to in vitro maturation of sheep oocytes.

The discovery and identification of Ovis aries (sheep) miRNAs will further promote the study of miRNA functions and gene regulatory mechanisms. To explore the microRNAome (miRNAome) of sheep in depth, samples were collected that included eight developmental stages: the longissimus dorsi muscles of Texel fetuses at 70, 85, 100, 120, and 135 days, and the longissimus dorsi muscles of Ujumqin fetuses at 70, 85, 100, 120, and 135 d, and lambs at 0 (birth), 35, and 70 d. These samples covered all of the representative periods of Ovis aries growth and development throughout gestation (about 150 d) and 70 d after birth. Texel and Ujumqin libraries were separately subjected to Solexa deep sequencing; 35,700,772 raw reads were obtained overall. We used ACGT101-miR v4.2 to analyze the sequence data. Following meticulous comparisons with mammalian mature miRNAs, precursor hairpins (pre-miRNAs), and the latest sheep genome, we substantially extended the Ovis aries miRNAome. The list of pre-miRNAs was extended to 2,319, expressing 2,914 mature miRNAs. Among those, 1,879 were genome mapped to unique miRNAs, representing 2,436 genome locations, and 1,754 pre-miRNAs were mapped to chromosomes. Furthermore, the Ovis aries miRNAome was processed using an elaborate bioinformatic analysis that examined multiple end sequence variation in miRNAs, precursors, chromosomal localizations, species-specific expressions, and conservative properties. Taken together, this study provides the most comprehensive and accurate exploration of the sheep miRNAome, and draws conclusions about numerous characteristics of Ovis aries miRNAs, including miRNAs and isomiRs.

BackgroundCanine hip dysplasia (HD) is a common polygenic trait characterized by hip malformation that results in osteoarthritis (OA). The condition in dogs is very similar to developmental dysplasia of the human hip which also leads to OA.Methodology/principal findingsA total of 721 dogs, including both an association and linkage population, were genotyped. The association population included 8 pure breeds (Labrador retriever, Greyhounds, German Shepherd, Newfoundland, Golden retriever, Rottweiler, Border Collie and Bernese Mountain Dog). The linkage population included Labrador retrievers, Greyhounds, and their crosses. Of these, 366 dogs were genotyped at ∼22,000 single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) loci and a targeted screen across 8 chromosomes with ∼3,300 SNPs was performed on 551 dogs (196 dogs were common to both sets). A mixed linear model approach was used to perform an association study on this combined association and linkage population. The study identified 4 susceptibility SNPs associated with HD and 2 SNPs associated with hip OA.Conclusion/significanceThe identified SNPs included those near known genes (PTPRD, PARD3B, and COL15A1) reported to be associated with, or expressed in, OA in humans. This suggested that the canine model could provide a unique opportunity to identify genes underlying natural HD and hip OA, which are common and debilitating conditions in both dogs and humans.

Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) plays a pivotal role in angiogenesis in ovaries, particularly during follicular development and ovulation. Interleukin-6 (IL-6) is one of the major pro-inflammatory factors that are involved in the a ngiogenesis process physiologically and pathologically. Previous studies have shown that 17β-estradiol (E2) stimulates VEGF expression by upregulating hypoxia-inducible factor 1α (HIF-1α) in many cell types, and the high level of E2 causes an inflammatory-like microenvironment before ovulation. However, whether IL-6 signaling is involved in E2-regulating VEGF expression in swine granulosa cells (GCs) is still unknown. In this study, we found the estrogen membrane receptor, G-protein-coupled estrogen receptor 1 (GPER), was expressed in swine GCs, and the expression level of GPER, HIF-1α, and VEGF increased with follicular development. In vitro study showed that E2, ICI182780, and GPER agonist (G1) promoted the expressions of HIF-1α and VEGF in swine GCs, while GPER antagonist (G15) inhibited the stimulating effect of E2 and G1. Meanwhile, G15 inhibited the stimulating effect of E2 and G1 on IL-6 mRNA expression and secretion. Furthermore, IL-6 antibody and AG490 (JAK2/STAT3 inhibitor) attenuated G1-induced HIF-1α and VEGF expression. In conclusion, this study revealed how estrogen-induced HIF-1α and VEGF expressions in swine GCs are mediated through GPER-derived IL-6 secretion leading to JAK2/STAT3 activation.
