This paper contains an analysis of oak pollen seasons in selected cities of Poland in 2018. Sampling sites were located in the following cities: Bialystok, Bydgoszcz, Cracow, Drawsko Pomorskie, Lublin, Olsztyn, Opole, Piotrkow Trybunalski, Sosnowiec, Szczecin, Warsaw, Wroclaw and Zielona Gora. The volumetric method was applied using the Burkard or Lanzoni trap. The pollen season was determined by the 98% method. The season started earliest in Sosnowiec (April 14th). The mean duration of the pollen season was 33 days. The highest pollen concentration (713 P/m3) was observed in Wroclaw (April 19th). The peak values were recorded between April 19th and May 1st in the different cities.

The aim of the study was to compare the pollen season of ash in Bialystok, Bydgoszcz, Cracow, Drawsko Pomorskie, Lublin, Olsztyn, Sosnowiec, Szczecin, Warsaw, Wroclaw and Zielona Gora in 2017 year. Measurements of pollen concentration were performed by the use of volumetric method (Burkard or Lanzoni pollen sampler). The pollen season of ash started in all measurement sites in the last week of March and first week of April. The peak values of seasonal pollen count occurred between 31st March and 10th April in all cities. The highest concentration of 772 pollen grains × m-3 was noted in Cracow, and the lowest of 45 pollen grains × m-3 in Bialystok. The risk of pollen allergy because of the presence in the air the high concentrations of ash pollen grains was the biggest in Cracow (10 days) and in Zielona Gora (9 days). The highest annual sum (SPI, Seasonal Pollen Index) of ash pollen grains was recorded in Cracow (1928), and it was over 9 times higher than in Bialystok (218).

The Asteraceae family is one of the largest families, comprising 67 genera and 264 species in Poland. However, only a few genera, including Artemisia and Ambrosia are potential allergenic sources. The aim of the study was to estimate how often and to what degree Artemisia and Ambrosia pollen seasons co-occur intensifying human health risk, and how synoptic situations influence frequency of days with high pollen concentrations of both taxa. Artemisia and Ambrosia pollen data were collected, using the volumetric method, at 8 sites in Poland. Daily concentrations of Artemisia pollen equal to 30 grains or more and Ambrosia pollen equal to 10 grains or more were accepted as high values. Concentrations of more than 10 pollen grains were defined as high in the case of Ambrosia because its allergenicity is considered higher. High concentrations were confronted with synoptic situations. Analysis was performed on the basis of two calendars on circulation types of atmosphere in Poland (Niedźwiedź, 2006, 2015). Co-occurrence of Artemisia and Ambrosia pollen seasons is being found most often, when Ambrosia pollen season starts in the first half of August. If it happens in the last 10 days of August high pollen concentrations of Artemisia and Ambrosia do not occur at the same days. At three sites (Sosnowiec, Rzeszow, Lublin) high Ambrosia pollen concentrations during the Artemisia pollen season appear more often than in other sites under question. The high Artemisia pollen concentrations occur, when continental or polar maritime old air masses inflow into Poland. The impact of air masses on high Ambrosia pollen concentrations depends on site localizations. It is likely, that in the south-eastern part of Poland high Ambrosia pollen concentrations result from the pollen transport from east-south-south-westerly directions and the local sources. Co-occurrence of both taxa pollen seasons depends on the air masses inflow and appears more often in a south-eastern part of Poland.

The aim of the study was to compare the pollen season of the mugwort in Zielona Gora, Opole, Wroclaw, Sosnowiec, Cracow, Lublin, Guciow (Roztocze National Park) and Lviv. Measurements of pollen concentrations were performed with the volumetric method (Burkard or Lanzoni pollen sampler) in Poland and using the Durham trap in Lviv. Maximum pollen concentrations were observed in all measurement sites in the period between 2nd and 15th August. The highest concentration, the highest annual sum of pollen grains, and the highest risk of pollen allergy due of the presence of high concentrations of mugwort pollen grains in the air were recorded in Zielona Gora, Lublin, and Opole.

The paper presents a comparison of ragweed pollen seasons in Zielona Gora, Opole, Wroclaw, Sosnowiec, Cracow, and Lublin. The investigations were carried out with the volumetric method. The ragweed pollen season began on different days of August. The maximum daily pollen count in all the cities was noted at the end of August. The greatest risk of allergies caused by the presence of airborne ragweed pollen was reported from Zielona Gora, Opole, and Sosnowiec.

The aim of the study was to compare the hazel pollen season in 2016 in Zielona Gora, Opole, Wroclaw, Sosnowiec, Cracow, Lublin, and Guciow (Roztocze National Park). Due to the mild winter, the hazel pollen season in Zielona Gora and Opole began very early, i.e. in the third decade of December 2015. In the other cities, the onset of the pollen season was noted between 30th January and 7th February. In a majority of the cities, the maximum daily pollen concentrations were recorded in the period between 7th and 10th February. The highest seasonal peak was reported from Lublin and the lowest – in Guciow and Wroclaw. The highest risk of allergy related to the persistence of high concentrations of airborne hazel pollen was noted for Zielona Gora, Lublin, and Cracow.

The paper presents a comparison of birch pollen seasons in 2016 in study sites located in the southern part of Poland: Zielona Gora, Opole, Wroclaw, Sosnowiec, Cracow, Lublin, and Guciow in the Roztocze National Park. The pollen concentrations were measured with the volumetric method using Burkard or Lanzoni pollen samplers. The annual pollen sum was calculated for each measurement site. In 2016, the birch pollen season started at a similar time, i.e. between 4th and 6th April in all the localities. The highest annual sums and maximum pollen concentrations were recorded in Lublin and Guciow. The maximum concentrations of birch pollen were noted from 5th and 15th April, with the highest value in Lublin, i.e. 8573 P/m3 (14.04).

Sezon pylenia leszczyny w 2015 r. najwcześniej rozpoczął się w Zielonej Górze, Drawsku Pomorskim (13 stycznia), we Wrocławiu (14 stycznia) i w Opolu (15 stycznia). Najwyższe wartości stężeń pyłku leszczyny zaobserwowano w Lublinie, maksymalne stężenie, wynoszące 215 ziaren/m3, zarejestrowano 1 marca. Maksymalne wartości stężenia pyłku leszczyny we wszystkich miastach wystąpiły 1 marca lub 8–12 marca. Celem pracy było porównanie sezonu pyłkowego bylicy w 2014 r. w Bydgoszczy, Krakowie, Lublinie, Piotrkowie Trybunalskim, Poznaniu, Sosnowcu, Szczecinie i Warszawie. Pomiary stężenia pyłku prowadzono metodą objętościową z zastosowaniem aparatów Burkard oraz Lanzoni. Sezon pyłkowy wyznaczono jako okres, w którym w powietrzu występuje 98% rocznej sumy ziaren pyłku. Indeks SPI obliczono jako sumę średnich dobowych stężeń pyłku w danym sezonie. Sezon pyłkowy bylicy najwcześniej (13 czerwca) rozpoczął się w Szczecinie, a najpóźniej (15 lipca) – w Lublinie i Warszawie. Zanotowano znaczne różnice w czasie trwania sezonu. Najwyższe wartości stężeń zaobserwowano w Poznaniu, maksymalne stężenie wynoszące 172 z/m3 zarejestrowano 19 sierpnia. Maksymalne wartości sezonowe koncentracji pyłku we wszystkich miastach wystąpiły między 27 lipca a 19 sierpnia. The aim of the study was to compare the pollen season of mugwort in the cities of Bydgoszcz, Cracow, Lublin, Piotrków Trybunalski, Poznań, Sosnowiec, Szczecin and Warsaw in 2014. Seasonal Pollen Index (SPI) was estimated as the annual sum of daily average pollen concentrations. The pollen season of mugwort started first in Szczecin, on the 13th of June, and at the latest – on the 15th of July – in Lublin and Warsaw. The differences of pollen seasons duration were considerables. The highest record airborne concentration of 172 pollen grains/m3 was noted in Poznań on the 19th of August. The maximum values of seasonal pollen count occurred between 27th of July and 19th of August in all cities.

Maksymalne wartości stężenia pyłku brzozy we wszystkich miastach wystąpiły między 15 a 29 kwietnia. W pracy przedstawiono najważniejsze cechy sezonu pyłkowego traw w Krakowie, Lublinie, Opolu, Piotrkowie Trybunalskim, Sosnowcu, we Wrocławiu i w Zielonej Górze w 2015 r. Badania wykonano metodą objętościową przy użyciu aparatów firmy Burkard i Lanzoni. Najwyższe dobowe stężenia pyłku traw odnotowano w Lublinie i Krakowie; wynosiły one odpowiednio 349 z/m3 i 294 z/m3. Najwyższą sumę roczną ziaren pyłku traw zarejestrowano w Lublinie (5149) i Sosnowcu (4492). The paper presents the most important features of grass pollen season in Krakow, Lublin, Opole, Piotrkow Trybunalski, Sosnowiec, Wroclaw and Zielona Gora in 2015. Volumetric method with the use of Burkard and Lanzoni spore trap was implemented. The highest concentration values of pollen grains were recorded in Lublin and Cracow (349 grains/m3 and 294 grains/m3) respectively. The highest annual sum of pollen concentrations were stated in Lublin (5149) and Sosnowiec (4492).

The pollen season of alder started first in Szczecin and Zielona Gora, 9th of March, while in the other cities it started 10th of March. The highest airborne concentration, 707 pollen grains/m3, was noted in Lublin on 11th of March. The maximum values of seasonal pollen count occurred between 8th and 13th of March in all mentioned cities.

Pomiary stężenia pyłku grabu prowadzono metodą objętościową. Sezon pyłkowy wyznaczono jako okres, w którym w powietrzu występuje 95% rocznej sumy ziaren pyłku grabu. Początek sezonu pyłkowego grabu zanotowano najwcześniej w Zielonej Górze – 20 marca. Najwyższe wartości stężeń zaobserwowano 7 kwietnia w Szczecinie (38 ziaren/m3) oraz 1 kwietnia w Zielonej Górze (32 ziarna/m3). The course of hornbeam pollen season in Bialystok, Bydgoszcz, Drawsko Pomorskie, Cracau, Lublin, Olsztyn, Piotrkow Trybunalski, Sosnowiec, Szczecin, Warsaw, Wroclaw and in Zielona Gora in the year 2014 was presented. Measurements were performed by the volumetric method. Pollen season was defined as the period in which 95% of the annual total catch occurred. The pollen season of hornbeam started first in Zielona Gora on the 20 th of March. The highest airborne concentration of 38 hornbeam pollen grains/m3 was noted in Szczecin on the 7th of April and in Zielona Góra (32 pollen grains/m3) on the 1st of April.

The course of beech pollen season in Bialystok, Bydgoszcz, Drawsko Pomorskie, Cracow, Lublin, Olsztyn, Piotrkow Trybunalski, Sosnowiec, Szczecin, Warsaw, Wroclaw and in Zielona Gora in the year 2014 was presented. Measurements were performed by the volumetric method (Lanzoni 2000 or Burkard pollen sampler). Pollen season was defined as the period in which 95% of the annual total catch occurred. The pollen season of beech started first in Wroclaw on the 13th of April and in the other cities it started during the next 5 days. The highest airborne concentration of 72 beech pollen grains/m3 was noted in Zielona Góra on the 28th of April and in Wroclaw (65 pollen grains/m3) on the 28th of April.

Celem pracy była analiza sezonów pyłkowych wierzby w 13 punktach pomiarowych w Polsce w 2014 r. Zastosowano wolumetryczną metodę oznaczeń, parametry sezonu pyłkowego oceniono za pomocą metod statystyki opisowej. Zaobserwowano, że we wszystkich analizowanych miastach sezony pyłkowe rozpoczęły się w połowie marca i trwały średnio 1,5 miesiąca. Stwierdzono różnice w maksymalnym stężeniu dobowym i wartości sezonowego indeksu pylenia (SPI) pomiędzy punktami pomiarowymi. Najniższą wartość SPI odnotowano we Wrocławiu, natomiast w Krakowie – wartość ok. 10-krotnie wyższą. W większości ośrodków występowała wyraźna fluktuacja wysokich i niskich stężeń podczas sezonu pyłkowego, jedynie w Krakowie stwierdzono wyraźny okres wysokich stężeń. The aim of the study was to analyse the willow pollen seasons in 13 monitoring stations in Poland in 2014. The volumetric method of sampling was used. The estimation of the seasonal parameters was based on the descriptive statistics. All pollen seasons started in the part of March and lasted about 1,5 months. The clear difference among study sites were found in case of maximum concentration and SPI value. The lowest SPI value was achieved in Wroclaw, while the SPI in Cracow was 10 times higher. In the most of centres the fluctuation of high and low daily concentrations during the pollen seasons was observed. Only in Cracow, the clear period of higher concentrations was indicated.

Celem pracy było porównanie sezonu pyłkowego jesionu w 2014 r. w Szczecinie, Drawsku Pomorskim, Zielonej Górze, Bydgoszczy, Sosnowcu, Krakowie, Łodzi, Piotrkowie Trybunalskim, Olsztynie, Warszawie i Lublinie. Badania koncentracji pyłku w powietrzu prowadzono metodą objętościową z zastosowaniem aparatu Burkard lub Lanzoni. Długość sezonu pyłkowego wyznaczono metodą 95%. W badanych punktach pomiarowych początek sezonu pyłkowego jesionu zarejestrowano w pierwszej dekadzie kwietnia. Długość sezonów pyłkowych wynosiła 21–26 dni. Najwyższe dobowe stężenie pyłku obserwowano w Lublinie (415 z/m3), a najmniejsze w Krakowie (42 z/m3). Ryzyko wystąpienia alergii z powodu utrzymywania się w powietrzu wysokich stężeń pyłku jesionu było największe w Warszawie (17 dni) i Lublinie (14 dni). Najwyższą sumę roczną ziaren pyłku jesionu zanotowano w Lublinie (2413) i była ona ponad 10 razy wyższa niż w Krakowie (230). Pomiary wykonywano we Wrocławiu, w Sosnowcu, Krakowie, Lublinie, Szczecinie, Bydgoszczy, Drawsku Pomorskim, Olsztynie, Warszawie, Piotrkowie Trybunalskim i Zielonej Górze. Pylenie dębu w 2014 r. rozpoczęło się z dużym przyśpieszeniem w stosunku do 2013 r. Najwcześniej pyłek dębu zarejestrowano w Szczecinie, bo już 3 kwietnia. Najpóźniej pyłek tego taksonu pojawił się w Lublinie, dopiero 24 kwietnia. Najwyższe średniodobowe stężenie pyłku dębu – 380 z/m3 powietrza – odnotowano 14 kwietnia we Wrocławiu. The measurements were performed in Wrocław, Sosnowiec, Lublin, Kraków, Bydgoszcz, Warszawa, Szczecin, Drawsko Pomorskie, Olsztyn, Piotrków Trybunalski and Zielona Góra. Volumetric method with the use of Volumetric Spore Trap (Burkard, Lanzoni) was implemented. Pollen season was defined as the period in which 98% of the annual total catch occurred. Pollen season of nettle in 2013 started in the studied cities in the first decade of June. The highest daily concentrations nettle pollen was recorded in Lublin and Sosnowiec.

Praca przedstawia przebieg sezonu pylenia dębu w wybranych punktach pomiarowych większych miast Polski w 2011 roku. Pomiary wykonywano we Wrocławiu, Sosnowcu, Krakowie, Lublinie, Bydgoszczy, Białymstoku, Warszawie i Szczecinie. Badania prowadzono metodą objętościową przy wykorzystaniu aparatów firmy Burkard i Lanzoni. Sezon pyłkowy wyznaczono jako okres, w którym w powietrzu występuje 95% rocznej sumy ziaren pyłku dębu. Pylenie dębu w 2011 roku rozpoczęło się z lekkim opóźnieniem w stosunku do 2009 roku. Najwcześniej pyłek dębu zarejestrowano w Krakowie, bo już 6 kwietnia. Najpóźniej pyłek tego taksonu pojawił się w Lublinie – dopiero 28 kwietnia. Najwyższe wartości średniodobowych stężeń pyłku dębu odnotowano we Wrocławiu, gdzie 23 kwietnia wystąpiło stężenie 480 z/m3 powietrza. This paper presents the course of oak pollination season in selected cities of Poland in 2011. The measurements were performed in Wrocław, Sosnowiec, Kraków, Lublin, Bydgoszcz, Białystok, Warszawa and Szczecin. Pollen season of oak in 2011 started later in comparison to 2009. The season started first in Kraków (6 April). The highest 24-hour average pollen count was recorded in Wrocław on 23 April (480 oak pollen grains/1m3).

W pracy przedstawiono przebieg sezonu pylenia komosy w 2011 roku. Badania prowadzono w Sosnowcu, Szczecinie, Wrocławiu, Krakowie, Warszawie, Lublinie, Bydgoszczy, Piotrkowie Trybunalskim, Drawsku Pomorskim i Łodzi z zastosowaniem metody wolumetrycznej przy użyciu aparatów typu Burkard i Lanzoni. Sezon pyłkowy wyznaczono metodą 98% rocznej sumy ziarn pyłku. Najwcześniej pyłek komosy zarejestrowano w Szczecinie (31 maja), najpóźniej w Lublinie (13 czerwca). Najwyższe stężenie pyłku komosy, wynoszące 63 z/m3, zanotowano w Szczecinie 3 lipca. This paper presents the course of goosefoot pollen season in selected cities of Poland in 2011. The duration of the pollen seasons was defined as the period in which 98% of the annual total catch occurred. The pollen seasons of goosefoot started first in Szczecin (31th May), the latest in goosefoot 63 pollen grains/m3, was recorded in Szczecin on the 3th of July.
