Abstract Breast cancer is the most common female malignancy worldwide. Ubiquitin-specific peptidase 53 (USP53) has been shown to exert cancer-suppressing functions in several solid tumors, but its role and the underlying mechanism in breast cancer has not been clearly elucidated. Therefore, we have carried out a series of detailed studies on this matter at the levels of bioinformatics, clinical tissue, cell function and animal model. We found that USP53 expression was downregulated in breast cancer specimens and was negatively correlated with the clinical stages. Gain- and loss-of-function experiments demonstrated USP53 inhibited proliferation, clonogenesis, cell cycle and xenograft growth, as well as induced apoptosis and mitochondrial damage of breast cancer cells. Co-immunoprecipitation data suggested that USP53 interacted with zinc finger MYND-type containing 11 (ZMYND11), and catalyzed its deubiquitination and stabilization. The 33–50 amino acid Cys-box domain was key for USP53 enzyme activity, but not essential for its binding with ZMYND11. The rescue experiments revealed that the anti-tumor role of USP53 in breast cancer cells was at least partially mediated by ZMYND11. Both USP53 and ZMYND11 were prognostic protective factors for breast cancer. USP53-ZMYND11 axis may be a good potential biomarker or therapeutic target for breast cancer, which can provide novel insights into the diagnosis, treatment and prognosis.

Monitoring three-dimensional (3D) deformation in underground mining areas is crucial for the prevention and control of mining-induced disasters. Differential interferometric synthetic aperture radar (D-InSAR) is limited to detecting one-dimensional (1D) deformation along the line of sight (LOS). This paper proposes a new method for extracting 3D mining-induced deformation based on the differentiability of D-InSAR LOS deformation fields. The method approximates the D-InSAR LOS deformation field in underground mining areas as a differentiable function and constructs a 3D deformation extraction model utilizing directional derivatives of this function. The least squares method is used for estimating and evaluating the 3D deformation. Simulation and real data experiments have been used to verify the feasibility of the method in extracting mining-induced 3D deformation. The simulation results show relative root mean square errors (RRMSES) of 1.24%, 6.05%, 0.97%, and 11.47% for vertical and horizontal displacements along the east–west and south–north directions, respectively. The real data experiments using Sentinel-1 images show that the root mean square errors (RMSES) of the up–down, south–north, and east–west directions are 14.06 mm, 7.37 mm, and 11.56 mm, respectively. Experimental results show that the method can provide a certain basis for 3D surface deformation monitoring of mining subsidence.

Abstract A noncovalent organocatalytic concerted addition of phenol to glycal is developed for the stereoselective and regioselective construction of biologically important phenolic 2‐deoxyglycosides, featuring wide substrate tolerance. The method relies on an anion‐bridged dual hydrogen bond interaction which is experimentally proved by Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR), Ultraviolet and visible (UV–vis), and fluorescence analysis. Experimental evidence including kinetic analysis, Kinetic Isotope Effect (KIE) studies, linear free energy relationship, Hammett plot, and density functional theory (DFT) calculations is provided for a concerted mechanism where a high‐energy oxocarbenium ion is not formed. In addition, the potential utility of this method is further demonstrated by the synthesis of biologically active glycosylated flavones. The benchmarking studies demonstrate significant advances in this newly developed method compared to previous approaches.

A novel photoelectrochemical (PEC) aptasensor based on a dual Z-scheme α-Fe2O3/MoS2/Bi2S3 ternary heterojunction for the ultrasensitive detection of circulating tumor cells (CTCs) was developed. The α-Fe2O3/MoS2/Bi2S3 nanocomposite was prepared via a step-by-step route, and the photoproduced electron/hole transfer path was speculated by conducting trapping experiments of reactive species. α-Fe2O3/MoS2/Bi2S3-modified electrodes exhibited greatly enhanced photocurrent under visible light due to the double Z-scheme charge transfer process, which met the requirement of the PEC sensor for detecting larger targets. After the aptamer was conjugated on the photoelectrode through chitosan (CS) and glutaraldehyde (GA), when MCF-7 cells were presented and captured, the photocurrent of the PEC biosensing system decreased due to steric hindrance. The current intensity had a linear relationship with the logarithm of MCF-7 cell concentration ranging from 10 to 1×105 cells mL−1, with a low detection limit of 3 cell mL−1 (S/N = 3). The dual Z-scheme α-Fe2O3/MoS2/Bi2S3 ternary heterojunction-modified PEC aptasensor exhibited high sensitivity and excellent specificity and stability. Additionally, MCF-7 cells in human serum were determined by this PEC aptasensor, exhibiting great potential as a promising tool for clinical detection.

This study aims to provide a comprehensive analysis of the impacts of high-intensity coal mining on vegetation in Liangbei Town, a typical deep coal mining area in central of China. Using Landsat remote sensing data from 2000 to 2023, processed by the Google Earth Engine (GEE) platform, the study calculates the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI). Temporal and spatial distribution patterns of vegetation were assessed using LandTrendr algorithm, Sen’s slope estimation, the Mann–Kendall test, the coefficient of variation, and the Hurst index. Vegetation growth dynamics were further analyzed through transfer matrix and intensity analysis frameworks. Driving factors influencing vegetation trends were evaluated using local climate data and surface deformation variables from SAR imagery. Temporal Dimension: From 2000 to 2023, the annual NDVI in Liangbei Township showed an upward trend with a growth rate of 0.0894 (10a)−1, peaking at 0.51 in 2020. Spatial Dimension: The NDVI distribution in Liangbei Township displayed a pattern of being lower in the center and higher around the edges, with values concentrated between 0.4 and 0.51, covering 50.34% of the total area. Trend of Change: Between 2000 and 2023, 83.28% of the area in Liangbei Township experienced significant improvement in the NDVI, with vegetation growth trends shifting primarily from slight to significant improvement, encompassing a total area of 10.98 km². This shift exhibited a marked tendency. Driving Factors: Deep mining in Liangbei Township is concentrated in the eastern part, with SAR imagery indicating a maximum surface subsidence of 0.26 m. As surface subsidence increases, the NDVI significantly decreases. The findings suggest that in the future, 91.13% of the vegetation in Liangbei Township will display an antipersistent change trend. The study offers critical insights into the interaction between mining activities and vegetation cover can serve as a reference for environmental evolution and management in similar mining areas.

Background: Breast cancer, the most prevalent malignancy in women worldwide, presents diverse onset patterns and genetic backgrounds. This study aims to examine the genetic landscape and clinical implications of rare mutations in Chinese breast cancer patients.Methods: Clinical data from 253 patients, including sporadic and familial cases, were analyzed. Comprehensive genomic profiling was performed, categorizing identified rare variants according to the American College of Medical Genetics (ACMG) guidelines. In silico protein modeling was used to analyze potentially pathogenic variants’ impact on protein structure and function.Results: We detected 421 rare variants across patients. The most frequently mutated genes were ALK (22.2%), BARD1 (15.6%), and BRCA2 (15.0%). ACMG classification identified 7% of patients harboring Pathogenic/Likely Pathogenic (P/LP) variants, with one case displaying a pathogenic BRCA1 mutation linked to triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC). Also identified were two pathogenic MUTYH variants, previously associated with colon cancer but increasingly implicated in breast cancer. Variants of uncertain significance (VUS) were identified in 112 patients, with PTEN c.C804A showing the highest frequency. The role of these variants in sporadic breast cancer oncogenesis was suggested. In-depth exploration of previously unreported variants led to the identification of three potential pathogenic variants: ATM c.C8573T, MSH3 c.A2723T, and CDKN1C c.C221T. Their predicted impact on protein structure and stability suggests a functional role in cancer development.Conclusion: This study reveals a comprehensive overview of the genetic variants landscape in Chinese breast cancer patients, highlighting the prevalence and potential implications of rare variants. We emphasize the value of comprehensive genomic profiling in breast cancer management and the necessity of continuous research into understanding the functional impacts of these variants.

Ningdong coal base area located in northwestern China is one of the largest coal-producing bases in China. The aim of this work is to investigate a regional-scale mining subsidence over the Ningdong coal base area, by using both conventional and advanced Differential Synthetic Aperture Radar Interferometry (DInSAR) methods. Fifteen L-band SAR images from ALOS-2 satellite and 102 C-band images from Sentinel-1A satellite spanning between November 2014 and July 2019 were used for the analysis. To increase the spatial extent of the displacement signal because of decorrelated effects, we modified the traditional Small Baseline Subset (SBAS) method to incorporate the coherence into the inverse problem, hereafter we call it coherence-based SBAS method. Instead of excluding decorrelated pixels present in the interferograms, we keep all the pixels in the time series analysis and down-weighted the decorrelated pixels with coherence. We performed the coherence-based SBAS method to both the two SAR datasets to obtain the subsidence rate maps and displacement time-series over the mining areas, and compared the results with that from the traditional stacking InSAR method. We evaluated the effectiveness of L-band and C-band DInSAR for monitoring mining subsidence by comparing differential interferograms and displacements derived from SBAS method between ALOS-2 and Sentinel-1A data. Compared to C-band, L-band SAR are less affected by phase aliasing due to large displacement gradients. The most significant subsidence was found at Maliantai mine with −264 mm/year detected by SBAS method from Sentinel-1 data. We validated the InSAR displacement accuracy by comparing both ALOS-2 and Sentinel-1 results with 18 GPS stations above five active mining regions. The average RMSE between InSAR and GPS measurements is 28.4 mm for Sentinel-1 data and 21 mm for ALOS-2 data. Our results demonstrate that the combined exploitation of L-band and C-band SAR data through both conventional and advanced DInSAR methods could be crucial to monitor ground subsidence in mining areas, which provides insights into subsidence dynamics and determine the characteristic surface response to longwall advance.

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is one of the most common malignancies and has been a leading cause of cancer-related death worldwide in recent years. N6-methyladenosine (m6A) methylation is the most abundant epigenetic modification of various types of RNAs, and it plays a vital role in promoting cancer development. Here, we obtained SNV and transcriptome data of CRC from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA). We demonstrated that most m6A methylation regulators were aberrantly expressed in individuals with CRC. The abnormal expression of m6A regulators was caused by their different copy number variation (CNV) patterns, and alteration of m6A regulators was significantly correlated with prognosis and tumor stage. By using weighted coexpression network analysis (WGCNA), we identified m6A-related long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) and mRNAs; then we used least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) Cox regression analysis to construct m6A-related lncRNA and mRNA prognostic signatures in the TCGA dataset. Furthermore, a nomogram with clinicopathological features, lncRNA risk scores, and mRNA risk scores was established, which showed a strong ability to forecast the overall survival of the individuals with CRC in training and testing sets. In conclusion, m6A methylation regulators played a vital role in affecting the prognosis of subjects with CRC, and m6A-related lncRNAs and mRNAs revealed underlying mechanisms in CRC tumorigenesis and progression.

Most coal resources are deposited in the form of inclined coal seams, and surface subsidence basin morphology induced by the mining of inclined coal seams is frequently skewed. The probability integral method with symmetrical distribution characteristics is widely used at present in surface subsidence prediction in coal mining in China. However, this method performs poorly when the inclined coal seam mining subsidence is predicted, and prediction accuracy decreases considerably with an increase in coal seam inclination. To solve this problem, this study first establishes three coordinate systems: a working surface rectangular coordinate system, a working face body-following coordinate system, and a surface rectangular coordinate system. Then, a random medium theory is applied to realize the superposition integral operation of the subsidence influence of unit mining in the working faces body-following coordinate system. Subsequently, the subsidence effect of a certain point on the surface is converted into the surface rectangular coordinate system. Finally, the inclined coal seam mining subsidence prediction model is constructed under the surface rectangular coordinate system. Results show that the surface subsidence caused by the mining of the inclined coal seam units conforms to the Weibull polar distribution law, and the effectiveness of the prediction model is verified through examples. The relative mean squared error of the prediction is less than 10%. The results of the study can provide theoretical and technical support for the subsidence prediction of similar mining areas.

After large-scale land consolidation in hilly loess region of the Loess Plateau in China, land subsidence has a wide affecting area and considerable difficulty of prevention. Hence, large-scale, stabilized, and continuous deformation monitoring is urgently needed for slopes. In this study, land consolidation zone in the loess platform area of Weinan, China, was selected as the object, and the 30-scene Sentinel-1A data in Jan, 2018 to Dec, 2019 were analyzed. The mean annual velocity of ground deformation was from -6.19 mm∙a-1 to 3.86 mm∙a-1, and Accumulated deformation velocity was within -8.49 mm∙a-1 to 7.24 mm∙a-1. Accumulated deformation of land consolidation changed with the seasons changing. The interrelationship between the spatiotemporal variations in ground subsidence and the precipitation, ground water, loess engineering properties was also discussed. Accumulated deformation of land consolidation changed with the seasons changing. The precipitation accelerated the subsidence by unexpected strong precipitation reflects that the infiltration of rainwater can lead to compacted loess deformation which caused by moistening effect. Under varying ground water environment, external loads may lead to soil collapse, resulting in non-uniform land subsidence. Co-compression deformation of original loess and compacted loess is main influencing factors of subsidence. These findings have important implications and significant positive effects on the prevention of potential hazard such as subsidence and side slope slip.

The introduction of new interactions into organic transformation is an objective of fundamental importance. Chalcogen bond has emerged as an unconventional type of noncovalent interaction which provides a useful synthetic tool for organocatalysis and has become one of the frontiers in chemistry. This review provides an overview for the recent advances in chalcogen bond catalysis. The current typical types of chalcogen bond donors, mechanistic insights for the organic transformation and future direction of chalcogen bond catalysis are discussed.

Once the world’s largest waste importer, China alleviated the shortage of raw materials in its related industries; however, such activity incited more prominent ecological and environmental problems. Based on several major sample databases from 2003 to 2006—including the China Industry Business Performance Data, Customs Trade Database, and scrap metal commodity data from Harmonized System code catalogues—this paper establishes a city-level panel data model and a mediation effect model to examine the impact of scrap metal imports on industrial wastewater discharge in China as well as the mechanism of this impact. Furthermore, this paper analyses the impact of scrap metal imports on Chinese enterprises’ pollution fees from the perspective of enterprises to ensure the robustness of results based on the China Industry Business Performance Data in 2004. Results show that scrap metal imports significantly increase industrial wastewater discharge in China and exacerbate environmental pollution. Specifically, results indicate that if scrap metal imports increase by 1%, wastewater discharge will significantly increase by approximately 0.015–0.198 percentage points. In terms of the impact mechanisms, by driving the development of metal smelting, scrap metal imports have increased both the metal smelting rate in total industrial output and cities’ reliance on metal smelting, which has significantly increased industrial wastewater discharge in China. Finally, the robustness test demonstrates that increasing metal waste imports will significantly increase the discharge of pollutants by Chinese industrial enterprises, thereby increasing their pollution fees. Specifically, the results of the Ordinary Least Square and IV 2SLS model indicate that if scrap metal imports increase by 1%, industrial enterprises’ pollution fees will significantly increase by 1.081–11.3 million yuan. On the premise of protecting the environment, the Chinese government can import recyclable scrap metal commodities such as high-grade waste copper and aluminium that can meet the product quality standards for enterprises. Additionally, the Chinese government should raise the standards of the metal smelting and recycling industries, reduce the discharge of industrial waste water, and strive to improve the ecological environment.

Solar energy is an inexhaustible clean energy providing a key solution to the dual challenges of energy and environmental crises. Graphite-like layered molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) is a promising photocatalytic material with three different crystal structures, 1T, 2H and 3R, each with distinct photoelectric properties. In this paper, 1T-MoS2 and 2H-MoS2, which are widely used in photocatalytic hydrogen evolution, were combined with MoO2 to form composite catalysts using a bottom-up one-step hydrothermal method. The microstructure and morphology of the composite catalysts were studied by XRD, SEM, BET, XPS and EIS. The prepared catalysts were used in the photocatalytic hydrogen evolution of formic acid. The results show that MoS2/MoO2 composite catalysts have an excellent catalytic effect on hydrogen evolution from formic acid. By analyzing the photocatalytic hydrogen production performance of composite catalysts, it suggests that the properties of MoS2 composite catalysts with different polymorphs are distinct, and different content of MoO2 also bring differences. Among the composite catalysts, 2H-MoS2/MoO2 composite catalysts with 48% MoO2 content show the best performance. The hydrogen yield is 960 µmol/h, which is 1.2 times pure 2H-MoS2 and two times pure MoO2. The hydrogen selectivity reaches 75%, which is 22% times higher than that of pure 2H-MoS2 and 30% higher than that of MoO2. The excellent performance of the 2H-MoS2/MoO2 composite catalyst is mainly due to the formation of the heterogeneous structure between MoS2 and MoO2, which improves the migration of photogenerated carriers and reduces the possibilities of recombination through the internal electric field. MoS2/MoO2 composite catalyst provides a cheap and efficient solution for photocatalytic hydrogen production from formic acid.

The 8006 working face at the Wuyang Coal Mine adopts grout injection into bed separation technology for surface subsidence control. Surface grout leakage occurred during the grout injection into the bed separation process of this working face. Grout leakage has adverse effects on the grouting filling effect, grouting cost and the environment. To determine the grout leakage channels and the slurry transport process, and to provide a theoretical basis for slurry leakage prevention and control, this paper first used 3D seismic exploration technology to identify the fault distribution characteristics of the study area, and then used COMSOL Multiphysics to carry out the numerical simulation of the grout transport process. The conclusions are as follows. Fifteen normal faults were identified in the vicinity of the 8006 working face. Among all the faults, the F1, F11, F18, F19 and F27 faults penetrate the surface and are the main channels for the grout to run to the surface. Based on the distribution characteristics of the faults and the spatial location relationship among the bed separation, faults and grout leakage points, the theoretical analysis of the leakage causes of each grout leakage point was carried out, and the main leakage channels of the grout injection into bed separation were proposed to be the bed separation and faults. The results of the numerical simulation of grout transport show that, as the permeability of the bed separation space and fault is much better than that of the surrounding rock, during the grout injection process the grout diffuses through the bed separation and fault in turn, and finally to the surface, where leakage occurs. The simulation results confirm that the main leakage channels for the grout are bed separation and faults.

High-strength mining has the characteristics of shallow buried depth, large mining height, and fast mining speed. Under the condition of high-strength mining, the overburden moves violently and the surface damage is serious. It has caused serious ecological security problems in the mining area. In order to solve this problem, it is necessary to adopt the technology of restoration while mining. The key to the effective implementation of this technology is to clarify the real-time distribution law and generation mechanism of surface damage. In this paper, field investigation and the theoretical analysis method are used for related research. The results show that the surface strenuous move duration is long, the strenuous move area is large, and the surface discontinuous deformation is fully developed. With the characteristics of stepped crack lags behind the location of the working face, the stepped crack spacing and periodic weighting interval are equivalent. Through discussion and analysis, it is found that the cause of serious damage is the strata movement mode of high-strength mining in “two zones” mode. Under the “two zones” mode, the roof has easy-to-slip instability, the bedrock is completely broken along the direction of the bedrock breaking angle, and the weak anti-disturbance ability of the loose layer leads to the surface becoming severely damaged. The research results can provide reference for the formulation of follow-up ecological real-time restoration measures in similar mines.

In mining engineering, after the extraction of underground resources, the maximum surface subsidence is usually less than the mining thickness of coal seam. However, under the condition of thick loose layer, some special phenomena appear in surface subsidence, for example, the maximum surface subsidence value is greater than the mining thickness of coal seam. This special phenomenon cannot be predicted by traditional subsidence prediction methods. To solve this problem, by using the numerical simulation software Fast Lagrangian analysis of continua (Flac), we study the changing rules of subsidence with different strata lithology and unconsolidated layer thickness and reveal the formation mechanism of this law. The results show that the effect of the thick unconsolidated layer on the hard rock is greater than that of the soft rock. When the rock is soft, the unconsolidated layer moves as a whole following the bedrock during the whole mining process. The surface subsidence decreases approximately linearly with the thickness ratio increase of the unconsolidated layer to bedrock. However, when the rock is hard or medium hard, there are supporting structures formed inside the rock stratum, which has supporting effect on the overlying strata. The surface subsidence undergoes three proportional sections, first increases, then decreases, and finally increases with the thickness ratio increase of the unconsolidated layer to bedrock. Combined with these laws, based on the theory that the rock strata space can be completely compressed gradually, we derive the calculation method of surface subsidence under the condition of thick unconsolidated layer and apply it to practice. The results show that the prediction results are consistent with the actual situation and meet the engineering requirements. The research results can provide a reference for the subsidence prediction of similar conditions.

The overburden subsidence induced by underground mining has caused great damage to the ecological environmental and seriously threatens the safe use of underground structures. Focusing on the overburden subsidence, this paper uses theoretical analysis method to study the overburden subsidence boundary with a horizontal coal seam mining. In this paper, the viscoelastic theory and the random medium theory are used separately to deduce and analyze the subsidence boundary of bedrock and unconsolidated stratum, which are two media with different lithology. For bedrock, the results show that the subsidence boundary of bedrock is 1/4 of the wavelength of pressure wave from the mining boundary, strata subsidence boundary expands with the increase of vertical distance between calculated strata and coal seam, and the subsidence boundary in bedrock is an upward concave curve. For unconsolidated stratum, the results show that the larger the internal friction angle, the greater the angle between subsidence boundary and horizontal line. From the bottom to the surface of the unconsolidated stratum, the internal friction angle decreases gradually and the angle between subsidence boundary and horizontal line also decreases gradually, so the subsidence boundary curve in the unconsolidated stratum is convex. Combined with the bedrock and unconsolidated stratum, it is concluded that the subsidence boundary of the whole overburden is bowl-shaped. This study is helpful to reveal the black box of rock subsidence and can provide theoretical support for the establishment of overburden subsidence prediction model and transparent mine in the later stage.

Under the mining condition of extrathick coal seam, the overburden moves violently, the surface is destroyed seriously, and the discontinuous deformation such as cracks is fully developed. Taking Datong mining area as an example, this paper studies and analyzes the development characteristics and generation mechanism of surface cracks in loose layer covered area and bedrock exposed area by means of field measurement and similar model experiment. In the bedrock exposed area, there is no main crack. The width, length, number, and step drop of surface cracks are relatively small. There are many cracks with the same scale and distributed evenly and parallel. However, in the loose covered area, the main cracks are mainly located above the open-off cut and the stoppage line side that is deviated from the working face. There are many secondary cracks around the main crack, with a large crack density and a few cracks in the outer edge of the main crack. Through research, it is found that three mining faces belong to the typical three-zone mining mode and the main fracture is consistent with the O-ring fracture distribution theory. This research’s results can provide theoretical and technical support for the follow-up land remediation and ecological restoration.

The mining of coal resources in eastern China has entered the stage of deep mining, and many mines have reached the depth of 1000 meters. Different from shallow and moderate depth mining, the temporal and spatial evolution regulation of surface movement and deformation under deep mining has its particularity. Combining with the geological and mining conditions of Fengfeng mining area, this paper systematically studies the characteristics of surface movement under the condition of shallow, moderate, and near kilometer mining depth. By means of field measurement, InSAR monitoring, we get the subsidence data under different mining depth and get the relevant subsidence parameters by inversion. Through comparative analysis, the special law of subsidence under the mining depth of 1000 meters is obtained. The results show that under the condition of nearly 1000 meters mining depth, the surface movement and deformation have the characteristics of large displacement angle, small displacement deformation value, and large main influence radius. The regulation of small proportion of active period of maximum subsidence point, gentle shape of surface movement basin, and low mining adequacy are obtained. The research results provide technical references for deep mining under buildings, railways, and water bodies and provide basis and reference for scientific mining and safe recovery of coal pillars in kilometer deep mine.

This study is aimed at exploring the influence of narrow coal pillars in gob-side entry driving (GSED) on the development height of the water-conducting fracture zone (WCFZ) in the fully mechanized caving face. In reference to the geological mining conditions of working face 11915 of Gequan (GQ) Coal Mine, the development law of the WCFZ in the GSED fully mechanized caving face was studied by means of formula calculation, on-site measurement, theoretical analysis, and simulation. The research results disclose that the development height of the WCFZ in the GSED fully mechanized caving face is affected by narrow coal pillars of GSED. When the narrow coal pillars lose stability, the overburden failure changes from insufficient mining to sufficient mining, and the WCFZ in the overburden changes from an arch-shaped one to a saddle-shaped one. Additionally, the development height of the WCFZ surges.

The estimation of hydrophobicity for composite insulators is of great importance for the purpose of predicting the surface degradation. The hydrophobic image is firstly decomposed by the 2-level wavelet, along with the multi-Retinex algorithm in this paper. The processed low frequency sub-band and high frequency sub-band images are then reconstructed. The 3 × 3 Sobel operator is performed to measure the basic spatial gradient in four directions, including the horizontal direction, the diagonal direction, and then the vertical direction. The shape factor, the area ratio of the largest water droplet, and the coverage rate of the water droplet are selected as the feature parameters and input into the classification network that has been trained to do the hydrophobic level recognition. The effect of the different expansion speed on the desired learning results is discussed. The threshold plays a key role in image processing. Considering that the difference between the water droplet edge and the composite insulator surface is relatively small, the asymptotic semi-soft threshold function is used in pretreatment, whereas the adaptive two-dimensional Otsu’s method is used in image segmentation. The experimental results show that the proposed method has high recognition accuracy up to 94.8% for a diversity of images, and it is superior to the improved Shape Factor Method, the Multi-fractal Method, and the RBF Neural Network.

Smart materials, which exhibit shape memory behavior in response to external stimuli, have shown great potential for use in biomedical applications. In this study, an energetic composite was fabricated using a UV-assisted DIW 3D printing technique and a shape memory material (SMP) as the binder. This composite has the ability to reduce the impact of external factors and adjust gun propellant combustion behavior. The composition and 3D printing process were delineated, while the internal structure and shape memory performance of the composite material were studied. The energetic SMP composite exhibits an angle of reversal of 18 s at 70°, with a maximum elongation typically reaching up to 280% of the original length and a recovery length of approximately 105% during ten cycles. Additionally, thermal decomposition and combustion behavior were also demonstrated for the energetic SMP composite.

Flood prediction in hilly regions, characterized by rapid flow rates and high destructive potential, remains a significant challenge. This study addresses this problem by introducing a novel machine learning-based approach to enhance flood forecast accuracy and lead time in small watersheds within hilly terrain. The study area encompasses small watersheds of approximately 600 km2. The proposed method analyzes spatiotemporal characteristics in rainfall dynamics to identify historical rainfall–flood events that closely resemble current patterns, effectively “learning from the past to predict the present”. The approach demonstrates notable precision, with an average error of 8.33% for peak flow prediction, 14.27% for total volume prediction, and a lead time error of just 1 h for peak occurrence. These results meet the stringent accuracy requirements for flood forecasting, offering a targeted and effective solution for flood forecasting in challenging hilly terrains. This innovative methodology deviates from conventional techniques by adopting a holistic view of rainfall trends, representing a significant advancement in addressing the complexities of flood prediction in these regions.

Objective. Fetal growth restriction (FGR) is a significant contributor to negative pregnancy and postnatal developmental outcomes. Currently, the exact pathological mechanism of FGR remains unknown. This study aims to utilize multiomics sequencing technology to investigate potential relationships among mRNA, gut microbiota, and metabolism in order to establish a theoretical foundation for diagnosing and understanding the molecular mechanisms underlying FGR. Methods. In this study, 11 healthy pregnant women and nine pregnant women with FGR were divided into Control group and FGR group based on the health status. Umbilical cord blood, maternal serum, feces, and placental tissue samples were collected during delivery. RNA sequencing, 16S rRNA sequencing, and metabolomics methods were applied to analyze changes in umbilical cord blood circulating mRNA, fecal microbiota, and metabolites. RT-qPCR, ELISA, or western blot were used to detect the expression of top 5 differential circulating mRNA in neonatal cord blood, maternal serum, or placental tissue samples. Correlation between differential circulating mRNA, microbiota, and metabolites was analyzed by the Spearman coefficient. Results. The top 5 mRNA genes in FGR were altered with the downregulation of TRIM34, DEFA3, DEFA1B, DEFA1, and QPC, and the upregulation of CHPT1, SMOX, FAM83A, GDF15, and NAPG in newborn umbilical cord blood, maternal serum, and placental tissue. The abundance of Bacteroides, Akkermansia, Eubacterium_coprostanoligenes_group, Phascolarctobacterium, Parasutterella, Odoribacter, Lachnospiraceae_UCG_010, and Dielma were significantly enriched in the FGR group. Metabolites such as aspartic acid, methionine, alanine, L-tryptophan, 3-methyl-2-oxovalerate, and ketoleucine showed notable functional alterations. Spearman correlation analysis indicated that metabolites like methionine and alanine, microbiota (Tyzzerella), and circulating mRNA (TRIM34, SMOX, FAM83A, NAPG) might play a role as mediators in the communication between the gut and circulatory system interaction in FGR. Conclusion. Metabolites (METHIONINE, alanine) as well as microbiota (Tyzzerella) and circulating mRNA (TRIM34, SMOX, FAM83A, NAPG) were possible mediators that communicated the interaction between the gut and circulatory systems in FGR.

A multi-layer design is applied to mitigate single event effect (SEE) in a 28 nm System-on-Chip (SoC). It depends on asymmetric multiprocessing (AMP), redundancy and system watchdog. Irradiation tests utilized 70 and 90 MeV proton beams to examine its performance through comparative analysis. Via examining SEEs in on-chip memory (OCM), compared with the trial without applying the multi-layer design, the test results demonstrate that the adopted multi-layer design can effectively mitigate SEEs in the SoC.

In this work, energetic composite composed of UV curable polyurethane acrylate and RDX was used as deterrent coating for 19-perforated nitroamine propellants plasticized by nitroglycerin and 1, 5-diazido-3-nitrazpentane (DIANP). The nitroamine propellant was end-sealed with the photocurable energetic composite material by using spraying and UV curing method. Combustion behaviors including burning progressivity and temperature sensitivity were studied by performing closed bomb test on propellants with 0.74%, 1.01% and 1.15% deterrent. The inner structure detection revealed that the deterrent penetrated into the perforations during coating process. The end-sealed propellant with blocked perforations exhibited inhibition of initial gas generation rate, which was demonstrated by dynamic vivacity curves. It is inspiring that the propellants coated with 1.01% and 1.15% deterrent presented excellent consistency according to the dynamic vivacity curves between 20 °C and 50 °C. Moreover. it can be indicated that the plugs in perforations conduced to temperature independence property of propellant under ambient temperature. This benefit contributes to improvement of the firing safety at high temperatures.

This work presents highly responsive gate-controlled p-GaN/AlGaN/GaN ultraviolet photodetectors (UVPDs) on Si substrates with a high-transmittance ITO gate. The two-dimensional electron gas (2DEG) in the quantum well of the polarized AlGaN/GaN heterojunction was efficiently depleted by the p-GaN gate, leading to a high photo-to-dark current ratio (PDCR) of 3.2 × 105. The quantum wells of the p-GaN/AlGaN and AlGaN/GaN heterojunctions can trap the holes and electrons excited by the UV illumination, thus efficiently triggering a photovoltaic effect and photoconductive effect, separately. Furthermore, the prepared photodetectors allow flexible adjustment of the static bias point, making it adaptable to different environments. Compared to traditional thin-film semi-transparent Ni/Au gates, indium tin oxide (ITO) exhibits higher transmittance. Under 355 nm illumination, the photodetector exhibited a super-high responsivity exceeding 3.5 × 104 A/W, and it could even exceed 106 A/W under 300 nm illumination. The well-designed UVPD combines both the advantages of the high-transmittance ITO gate and the structure of the commercialized p-GaN/AlGaN/GaN high-electron-mobility transistors (HEMTs), which opens a new possibility of fabricating large-scale, low-cost, and high-performance UVPDs in the future.
