De afgelopen jaren is er binnen Hogeschool Rotterdam hard gewerkt aan het bevorderen van het studiesucces en het verhogen van het rendement in het onderwijs. De vele maatregelen hebben echter nog niet geresulteerd in het bereiken van het gestelde doel op het gebied van studiesucces. Zo behaalde van cohort 2013 slechts 38% van de studenten binnen vijf jaar hun diploma, terwijl de streefwaarde van de hogeschool op 50% ligt. Een van de maatregelen om meer studenten succesvol de studie te laten doorlopen, betreft het bindend studieadvies (BSA). Over het BSA zijn er de laatste jaren verschillende beleidsvoorstellen besproken, zowel op landelijk niveau, vanuit het ministerie van OCW, als binnen de hogeschool zelf. Om een beargumenteerd besluit te kunnen nemen over de hoogte van de BSA-norm, hebben het college van bestuur en de Centrale Medezeggenschapsraad van Hogeschool Rotterdam een onafhankelijke adviescommissie ingesteld, de commissie Studiesucces. Deze commissie kreeg als opdracht een (gedragen) advies uit te brengen over studiesuccesbevorderende maatregelen, waaronder ook de BSA-maatregel. Deze opdracht was als volgt geformuleerd: Het doel is om tot adequaat beleid te komen op het gebied van het verhogen van studiesucces, waarbij aandacht wordt besteed aan onder andere de BSA als studiesucces verhogende maatregel.

Shipping contributes to emissions of harmful gases. With the aim of reducing such emissions, various research projects (e.g., FellowSHIP) have investigated the use of hydrogen and fuel cells (FCs) in shipping. Under the direction of NTNU Oceans, the International Energy Agency ? Hydrogen Implementing Agreement (IEA-HIA; unofficially known as the IEA Hydrogen Technology Collaboration Programme or ?IEA Hydrogen?) Task 39: Hydrogen in Maritime Transport supports this measure by building knowledge hub and collaborative research. As part of Task 39, this work provides an overview of possibilities and challenges of using hydrogen FCs on ships through a SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats) analysis. While strengths and weaknesses are internal characteristics of hydrogen and FCs, opportunities and threats are external factors that facilitate or hinder their adoption in shipping.

An attraction flow can be used to increase the effectivity of a fish passage. In 2004 a fish passage with a perpendicular attraction flow was built at Oudenaarde (Belgium) on the Upper Scheldt river. The design of the passage was based on scale model tests. In order to evaluate the hydraulic effectivity of the attraction flow, field measurements and new scale model tests are done. Velocities in the attraction flow and the fish passage entrance are assessed quantitatively and data of the scale model tests (1/15) are compared with the field measurements. The measured reach of the attraction flow seems to differ from results of the original scale model tests due to design modifications of the fish passage entrance. Results of the new scale model tests compare well with the data from the field measurements. Based on the results, a re-examination of the basic design rules for the attraction flow and fish pass entrances seems imperative
