1. Integration of Character Values in Teaching-Learning Process of Mathematics at Elementary School of Japan

Abstract

The state requires leaders who own intelligence and characters. Indonesia as a developing country is clearly very interested in finding out how to integrate the character values into the learning process in the classroom. Japan becomes a destination because it can provide character education to its students. Research Team of Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) held collaborative research with Professor Takuya Baba, Ph.D. from Hiroshima University, Japan as the Partner Lecturer. The purpose of this qualitative research was to get input on how elementary school teachers in Japan integrate the character values in learning, especially in math lessons. Its main activities, conducting class observations, interviews, Focus Group Discussion, and triangulation with guidance from the Partner Lecturer. The research site was Miyauchi Elementary School of Hiroshima and at IDEC of Hiroshima University. As a result, the UNNES research team obtained ways to integrate the values of characters in learning, especially in math lessons. The result of this research is expected to be applied at elementary schools in Semarang, Indonesia.

8. The Pengembangan KOMIKA-SAVI Berkonteks Kota Jambi pada Materi Aritmetika Sosial

Abstract

One strategy to provide innovation in learning is the development of learning media. This study aims to develop the KOMIKA-SAVI media in the context of the city of Jambi on social arithmetic material that is valid and feasible to use. This type of research is Research and Development (RnD) with the ADDIE method. The stages of the ADDIE method consist of analyze, design, develop, implement, and evaluate. The research subjects were 6 students of SMPN 12 Muaro Jambi. Media validation was assessed by media expert lecturers and material experts, as well as teachers. The research instrument was a media and material validation sheet, along with a research trial questionnaire. The results showed that the assessment of the media expert validators with an average (R) = 4.6 and material experts who gave an assessment with an average (R) = 4.5 from the assessment range of 1.00 R < 5.00 which means the media is valid. The results of student respones in the research trial got good media quality with an average positive student respone of 90.67%. So it can be concluded that the media is valid and feasible to use., Salah satu strategi untuk memberikan inovasi dalam pembelajaran adalah pengembangan media belajar. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan media KOMIKA-SAVI berkonteks kota Jambi pada materi aritmetika sosial yang valid dan layak untuk digunakan. Jenis penelitian ini adalah Research and Development (RnD) dengan metode ADDIE. Tahapan metode ADDIE terdiri dari analyze, design, develop, implement, and evaluate. Subjek penelitian adalah 6 siswa SMPN 12 Muaro Jambi. Validasi media dinilai oleh dosen ahli media dan ahli materi, beserta guru. Instrumen penelitian berupa lembar validasi media dan materi, beserta angket uji coba penelitian. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penilaian para validator ahli media dengan rata-rata (R) = 4,6 dan ahli materi yang memberikan penilaian dengan rata-rata (R) = 4,5 dari rentang penilaian 1,00 ≤ R < 5,00 yang artinya media valid. Hasil respon siswa pada uji coba penelitian mendapatkan kualitas media yang baik dengan rata-rata respon positif siswa sebesar 90,67%. sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa media valid dan layak digunakan.

Abstract

This paper proposes a variable-structured robust controller whose structure is continuously changed by fuzzy logic such that the controller makes the system respond quickly if the error e is large or its rate e is large and vice versa in order to obtain a robust controller that is insensitive to both the plant noise and the observation noise. Then it is applied practically to speed control for an induction servomotor. Experiments show that the proposed controller is superior to both a sliding mode controller and a PID controller. The paper includes the stability analysis of the overall system and the design procedure by using Lyapunov's method.
