Abstract Efficient charge-carrier injection and transport in organic light-emitting devices (OLEDs) are essential to simultaneously achieving their high efficiency and long-term stability. However, the charge-transporting layers (CTLs) deposited by various vapor or solution processes are usually in amorphous forms, and their low charge-carrier mobilities, defect-induced high trap densities and inhomogeneous thickness with rough surface morphologies have been obstacles towards high-performance devices. Here, organic single-crystalline (SC) films were employed as the hole-transporting layers (HTLs) instead of the conventional amorphous films to fabricate highly efficient and stable OLEDs. The high-mobility and ultrasmooth morphology of the SC-HTLs facilitate superior interfacial characteristics of both HTL/electrode and HTL/emissive layer interfaces, resulting in a high Haacke’s figure of merit (FoM) of the ultrathin top electrode and low series-resistance joule-heat loss ratio of the SC-OLEDs. Moreover, the thick and compact SC-HTL can function as a barrier layer against moisture and oxygen permeation. As a result, the SC-OLEDs show much improved efficiency and stability compared to the OLEDs based on amorphous or polycrystalline HTLs, suggesting a new strategy to developing advanced OLEDs with high efficiency and high stability.

Summary: Oxygen therapy is widely used in clinical practice; however, prolonged hyperoxia exposure may result in hyperoxic acute lung injury (HALI). In this study, we investigated the role of FAM134B in hyperoxia-induced apoptosis, cell proliferation, and epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT) using RLE-6TN cells and rat lungs. We also studied the effect of CeO2-NPs on RLE-6TN cells and lungs following hyperoxia exposure. FAM134B was inhibited in RLE-6TN cells and rat lungs following hyperoxia exposure. Overexpressing FAM134B promoted cell proliferation, and reduced EMT and apoptosis following hyperoxia exposure. FAM134B activation increased ER-phagy, decreased apoptosis, improved lung structure damage, and decreased collagen fiber deposition to limit lung injury. These effects could be reversed by PI3K/AKT pathway inhibitor LY294002. Additionally, CeO2-NPs protected RLE-6TN cells and lung damage following hyperoxia exposure by ameliorating impaired ER-phagy. Therefore, FAM134B restoration is a potential therapeutic target for the HALI. Moreover, CeO2-NPs can be used for the treatment of HALI.

This paper summarized the traditional Chinese Medicine nursing measures for a patient with lymphoedema of the lower limbs after radical hysterectomy for cervical cancer. Nurses had taken the comprehensive risk assessment, medication guidance and other routine nursing interventions. Based on the syndrome differentiation, Traditional Chinese Medicine nursing techniques including acupoint application, collateral-pricking and cupping treatment, in combination with interventions of improving microcirculation of limb tissues and skin hygiene, were carried out to relieve the edema of the lower limbs and improve the activity of daily living. Background Postprandial glucose excursions is the main cause of elevated glycated hemoglobin levels in patients with diabetes mellitus. Controlling postprandial glucose is also an important strategy for preventing and treating chronic complications of diabetes. Objective To evaluate the effect of protein preload meal pattern on postprandial glucose excursions in patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) . Methods This study is a randomized, open-label, within-subject crossover clinical registration study. We selected thirty-one T1DM patients aged 18-45 years with a course of disease >1 year who were admitted to the First People's Hospital of Yunnan Province from February 2019 to December 2021. After ten hours fasting, all patients ate two isocaloric test meals with the same ingredients, one is protein preload meals and another is mixed meals, on the 4th and 7th days of wearing continuous glucose monitoring systems (CGM), respectively. CGM was used to analyze the CGMS data 5 hours after a meal, including peak postprandial glucose, time to peak postprandial glucose, average blood glucose level; area under curve (AUC) for blood glucose, incremental area under curve (iAUC) for blood glucose, mean amplitude of glycemic excursions (MAGE), the incremental glucose peak (?Peak) and low (?Low), and the proportion of time of hypoglycemia and hyperglycemia events. We also used a generalized linear mixed model to compare the difference in blood glucose excursions during five hours post-prandial. Results Twenty-six T1DM patients were included in the statistical analysis. There was no significant difference in fasting blood glucose, peak blood glucose, mean blood glucose from 0 to 300 min, mean blood glucose from 180 to 300 min, the proportion of time when blood glucose>10 mmol/L (%), the proportion of time when blood glucose>13.9 mmol/L (%), MAGE, and ?Peak between protein preload meals and mixed meals (P>0.05). Activation of the nod-like receptor 3 (NLRP3) inflammasomes is crucial for immune defense, but improper and excessive activation causes inflammatory diseases. We previously reported that Cbl plays a pivotal role in suppressing NLRP3 inflammasome activation by inhibiting Pyk2-mediated apoptosis-associated speck-like protein containing a CARD (ASC) oligomerization. Here, we showed that Cbl dampened NLRP3 inflammasome activation by inhibiting glycolysis, as demonstrated with Cbl knockout cells and treatment with the Cbl inhibitor hydrocotarnine. We revealed that the inhibition of Cbl promoted caspase-1 cleavage and interleukin (IL)-1β secretion through a glycolysis-dependent mechanism. Inhibiting Cbl increased cellular glucose uptake, glycolytic capacity, and mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation capacity. Upon NLRP3 inflammasome activation, inhibiting Cbl increased glycolysis-dependent activation of mitochondrial respiration and increased the production of reactive oxygen species, which contributes to NLRP3 inflammasome activation and IL-1β secretion. Mechanistically, inhibiting Cbl increased surface expression of glucose transporter 1 (GLUT1) protein through post-transcriptional regulation, which increased cellular glucose uptake and consequently raised glycolytic capacity, and in turn enhanced NLRP3 inflammasome activation. Together, our findings provide new insights into the role of Cbl in NLRP3 inflammasome regulation through GLUT1 downregulation. We also show that a novel Cbl inhibitor, hydrocortanine, increased NLRP3 inflammasome activity via its effect on glycolysis.

The additive manufacturing technology of high strength 2219 aluminum alloy has been widely used in aerospace field. In this paper, coarse microstructure and poor mechanical properties of as-deposited 2219 Al alloy was focused, unidirectional compression and multidirectional loading deformation were studied, and the evolution law of microstructure and tensile properties was analysed. The results show that the deformation mainly concentrated in the core of uniaxial compression sample. The dynamic recrystallization was dominant above 450 °C. The lamellar microstructure was com pletely eliminated after multidirectional loading deformation, and hydrogen pores were completely closed. The yield stress reached 224 MPa, the ultimate tensile stress reached 386 MPa, and the elongation reached 11%, indicating that the improvement effect on microstructure and properties was the best.

As green energy technology develops, so too grows research interest in topics such as solar power forecasting. The output of solar power generation is uncontrollable, which makes accurate prediction of output an important task in the management of power grids. Despite a plethora of theoretical models, most frameworks encounter problems in practice because they assume that received data is error-free, which is unlikely, as this type of data is gathered by outdoor sensors. We thus designed a robust solar power forecasting model and methodology based on the concept of ensembling, with three key design elements. First, as models established using the ensembling concept typically have high computational costs, we pruned the deep learning model architecture to reduce the size of the model. Second, the mediation model often used for pruning is not suitable for solar power forecasting problems, so we designed a numerical–categorical radial basis function deep neural network (NC-RBF-DNN) to replace the mediation model. Third, existing pruning methods can only establish one model at a time, but the ensembling concept involves the establishment of multiple sub-models simultaneously. We therefore designed a factor combination search algorithm, which can identify the most suitable factor combinations for the sub-models of ensemble models using very few experiments, thereby ensuring that we can establish the target ensemble model with the smallest architecture and minimal error. Experiments using a dataset from real-world solar power plants verified that the proposed method could be used to build an ensemble model of the target within ten attempts. Furthermore, despite considerable error in the model inputs (two inputs contained 10% error), the predicted NRMSE of our model is still over 10 times better than the recent model. Abstract Background Long-term mechanical ventilation with hyperoxia can induce lung injury. General anesthesia is associated with a very high incidence of hyperoxaemia, despite it usually lasts for a relatively short period of time. It remains unclear whether short-term mechanical ventilation with hyperoxia has an adverse impact on or cause injury to the lungs. The present study aimed to assess whether short-term mechanical ventilation with hyperoxia may cause lung injury in rats and whether deferoxamine (DFO), a ferrous ion chelator, could mitigate such injury to the lungs and explore the possible mechanism. Methods Twenty-four SD rats were randomly divided into 3 groups (n = 8/group): mechanical ventilated with normoxia group (MV group, FiO2 = 21%), with hyperoxia group (HMV group, FiO2 = 90%), or with hyperoxia + DFO group (HMV + DFO group, FiO2 = 90%). Mechanical ventilation under different oxygen concentrations was given for 4 h, and ECG was monitored. The HMV + DFO group received continuous intravenous infusion of DFO at 50 mg•kg− 1•h− 1, while the MV and HMV groups received an equal volume of normal saline. Carotid artery cannulation was carried out to monitor the blood gas parameters under mechanical ventilation for 2 and 4 h, respectively, and the PaO2/FiO2 ratio was calculated. After 4 h ventilation, the right anterior lobe of the lung and bronchoalveolar lavage fluid from the right lung was sampled for pathological and biochemical assays. Abstract Flexible interference patterning is an important tool for adaptable measurement precisions. We report on experimental results of controllable two-photon interference fringes with thermal light in an incoherent rotational shearing interferometer. The two incoherent beams in the interferometer are orthogonally polarized, and their wavefront distributions differ only in an angle of rotation. The spacings and directions of the two-photon interference fringes vary with the rotation angle, as illustrated in three cases of two-photon correlation measurements in experiment.
