In enterprises with limited capacities and a low-powered grain drying facilities there is a problem of economical and reliable storage of dry, wet and moist grains. One of the options for its successful solution is the application of grain storage technology in silo bags, tested in many enterprises, the basic principle of which is based on the self-preservation of grain under hermetic conditions in an environment of carbon dioxide. To implement this technology, it is necessary to determine the suitability of the batch of grain for loading in the silo bags on the basis of an operational analysis of the grain quality. After loading the grain, the silo bags are sealed, the grain mass is stored for a certain time and then unloaded. After many years of industrial testing of grain storage technology in silobags, recommendations have been developed that allow to ensure the quantity and proper quality of grain in the process of implementation of the technology. To do this, it is provided to carry out a whole range of activities - personnel training, the selection and preparation of a storage area for grain, deratization, the determination of the quality of grain at all stages and a safe shelf-life, depending on the condition of the grain, weighing of the grain; loading silo bags and placing them on the site; drawing of marks for identification of silobags; monitoring of the state of silo bags and grain and the restoration of the integrity of the silo bags throughout the storage period; accounting for grain in the silobags; processing of unconditioned grain; object protection, final analysis of the work performed, identify problems and ways to solve them. The storage site for grain in the silo bags must be cleaned of stubble and grass, sharp objects, grain residues, solid hardwood or the most densely packed soil (the clay surface is undesirable, as precipitation makes imposible laying and unloading of silobags), ensure no stagnation of water during rains and melting snow, provide the possibility of free movement of special equipment on the site. It must be deratized and fenced with a mesh with small openings, a height of at least 1 m and dipped. The analysis of the characteristics of three-layer silobags showed that to optimize the storage of dry grain, it is advisable to use the largest silobags of 90 m in length, since they have a larger capacity, there will be less time spent on dressing and sealing the silobags, saving space between the silo bags lying along one another , there will be less length of silobags to go for tying, as well as saving money on the cost of silobags, the cost of working time and fuel (decreases the number of transfers of special equipment). It is advisable to take into account the possibility of unloading the sleeve during one shift. At all stages (loading, storage, unloading) the determination of the quality of grain, monitoring the condition and restoring the integrity of the silo bags checking the sanitary condition of the site and the presence of baits should be carried out. Precautions should be observed, grain accounting, working with non-standard grain and final analysis of grain storage results should be carried out.

Temperature and humidity data collection using real-time sensors and data loggers was conducted for integrated pest management in the collection storage and exhibition space of the Jeongnimsaji Museum, Buyeo. The real-time temperature and humidity monitoring system collected measurement data every 30 minutes and enabled real-time confirmation of the data through a linked application. If the temperature and humidity data measured in the real-time temperature and humidity monitoring system exceeds the set range, a push notification was sent to the mobile phone of the person in charge to provide status information to establish a continuous management system. Through this, it was possible to immediately recognize and take action when the temperature range exceeded the recommended relic temperature in August. We performed data visualization on the concentration of airborne fungus in the storage area and the inflow path and density of insects. Based on the recommended criteria presented by the National Institute of Cultural Heritage, The data on the spatial and temporal concentration of airborne fungus inside the collection storage were found to be maintained at a value below the standard recommended by the National Institute of Cultural Heritage (80 CFU/m3). Also, as a result of the insect inflow survey, no insects were captured inside the storage area, and in the case of the exhibition space, insects such as Scutigera coleoptrata, Loxoblemmus arietulus, Diestrammena asynamora, Koreoniscus racovitzai were captured. Based on this, as a result of visualization according to the individual density of captured insects by area, it was confirmed that the main inflow paths of insects were the external entrance and the toilet area.

Anthracnose caused by Colletotrichum gloeosporioides is one of important diseases causing postharvest losses on chili. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of the zero energy cool chamber (ZECC) in reducing the severity of anthracnose in Capsicum frutescens L. and extending the shelf life of chilies. The research was started by designing and building ZECC as a storage area for chilies. Chilies with and without fungal inoculation were stored in ZECC and storage chamber at room temperature. C. gloeosporioides experienced a growth inhibition of 40.48% after being stored in ZECC compared to its growth at room temperature. Storage of chilies in ZECC was able to reduce the severity of anthracnose by 56.2% on the 15th day, did not affect vitamin C content and total dissolved solids (TSS) and was able to reduce chilies weight loss during storage. Based on the organovisual test using the visual quality rating method and the Hedonic sensory test, consumers prefer chilies stored in the ZECC. The results showed that storage in ZECC could extend the shelf life of chilies. This storage model does not use electricity or is zero energy so it can be used by small scale farmers. This is the first report on the use of ZECC for the management of anthracnose in postharvest chilies in Indonesia.

The problems frequently faced by warehouses were the great number of parts not accommodated in the slots, same types of parts placed in more than one location, and the absence of permanent storage location, so employees frequently faced difficulties in finding required parts. The study aimed to provide spare-part layout improvement. The parts stored would be placed in permanent locations to expedite the process of storage and taking of parts from the warehouse by maintaining the existing warehouse area using Dedicated Storage method so the use of storage area in the warehouse became more optimal. The placement was based on comparison of activities of each part with spatial requirement needed by the parts. Therefore, how much actually was the area needed by spare-part warehouse could be found out. With the design of new blocks using dedicated storage methods, it was expected to minimize that the parts could occupy permanent locations to facilitate the employees in storing and taking the parts, so the in-and-out flow of parts became smooth. Furthermore, from the result of the study, it could be concluded that the amount of ratio of block area increased into 88.8% from current block area that was only 55.5%. Besides that, it also obtained the design of new blocks with size of 10x2x3 meters and layout design with total used floor area of 176 meters with total mileage of 50 meters/day..

The design of smoke extraction is very import part in any fire system design. Where an incorrect design of the smoke extraction strategy may lead to delay in the response of the fire extinguishing systems, which causes the high rate of loss of life and destruction of the building and its contents. This work, numerically investigates the effectiveness of a smoke exhaust strategy in a large storage area using a Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) package named Fire Dynamics Simulator (FDS), which will be used in this work in order to simulate fires in the store, a fire will be designed at certain conditions to mimic the fire loads expected in the storage. Smoke movement from the origin of the fire, and smoke contamination in the store are simulated in order to obtain the optimal design conditions of smoke extraction strategy. The parameters that influence the smoke extraction in large storage, which will be studied in this work are: 1) temperature distributions inside the space with different scenarios of the fire onset, 2) air velocity according to different fire scenarios, and 3) distribution of fresh and exhaust air outlet. The results of these simulations are presented and discussed.

There are two methods to be applied in the management of spent fuels of nuclear power plants. Spent fuel can be reprocessed or disposed of in geological formations. However, since the geological disposal has not been realized yet, spent fuels are stored for a long time. In this study, a storage facility model has been developed for spent fuels of a nuclear power plant containing four VVER-1200 units and life cycle cost analysis of the facility has been performed for two storage scenarios. In the first part of the study, the amount of spent fuel to be discharged from the plant during its operational life is determined. Then, a storage facility model is developed for the storage of estimated spent fuel inventory and basic characteristics of the facility such as storage cask type, material, storage area is determined. Finally, life cycle cost analysis of the facility is performed for two storage scenarios by using “net present value” and “levelised unit cost” methods.

- Abstract
Ensuring the availability of tools in the dynamic production environment requires the optimization of decisions regarding tool provision. In industrial reality, choosing the storage area and the tool state as part of an optimal tool storage strategy is rather based on experience than on a systematic approach. Thus, the first purpose of this paper is to identify relevant factors and their possible specifications influencing the choice for the tool storage strategy. This is followed by an analysis of the influence on the choice for the storage area. This analysis is the first step of the systematic approach for deriving an optimal tool storage strategy. Steel plate yard in shipbuilding, followed by the Separated-Strategy, is divided into Temporary-Area, Storage-Area, and Delivery-Area. When a target plate is not at the top of the stack, we must relocate the plates on it, which is called Plate-Shift. This paper develops a bilevel combinatorial optimization model and a multi-stage decision-making process of the delivery operation, and applies a greedy algorithm combined with a genetic algorithm to optimize the total amount of shifting. Compared with the current schedule based on a series of production rules, this method can get a better solution with less computing time and shifts.

- Abstract
The current problem is the issue of safe storage of nuclear waste, especially materials generated as waste in nuclear power plants. In the nuclear fuel cycle, in the fuel, a large amount of artificial radionuclides are created (most of them are much more active than uranium), so radioactivity in the normal reactor operation is about a billion times greater than before entering the reactor (1021 Bq observed for 100 tons). Radionuclides are the most important part of the nuclear waste and their safe storage and removal from the natural environment is very important. For now, utilized nuclear fuel (high radio-co-active waste which remains after its transformation) is temporarily stored in special storages in order to exploit a rapid decline initial period of its radioactivity and thus simplify further operation with it. In this paper the literature data of different methods of disposal of nuclear waste are presented.

Honeybees are renowned for their perfectly hexagonal honeycomb, hailed as the pinnacle of biological architecture for its ability to maximize storage area while minimizing building material. However, in natural nests, workers must regularly transition between different cell sizes, merge inconsistent combs, and optimize construction in constrained geometries. These spatial obstacles pose challenges to workers building perfect hexagons, but it is unknown to what extent workers act as architects versus simple automatons during these irregular building scenarios. Using automated image analysis to extract the irregularities in natural comb building, we show that some building configurations are more difficult for the bees than others, and that workers overcome these challenges using a combination of building techniques, such as: intermediate-sized cells, regular motifs of irregular shapes, and gradual modifications of cell tilt. Remarkably, by anticipating these building challenges, workers achieve high-quality merges using limited local sensing, on par with analytical models that require global optimization. Unlike automatons building perfectly replicated hexagons, these building irregularities showcase the active role that workers take in shaping their nest and the true architectural abilities of honeybees. published

Errors in products motion control lead to great financial and time treats. That's why nowadays large-scale industrial enterprises widely implement the automated monitoring systems of industrial products movement in all stages of the production process. Decisions on the monitoring systems market often allow to automate only areas where the routes are clearly defined and objects move consistently. In other areas such as product storages or shipment manual methods of monitoring objects often dominate such as visual inspection or using hand-held label readers. One of approaches to automate products motion control is a radio frequency identification one. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Resource planning in service industries is a difficult task and quite different from resource planning in manufacturing. Revenue management is one concept used in service industries when capacity and inventory are challenging to identify. In this study, the company case study provides chilled storage areas for customers. Different products are served and service charging is calculated based on the product’s weight and storing time. Currently, the target revenue cannot be achieved. This study presents the application of revenue management in chilled storage area allocation. From a previous study, there were four classes of products based on their importance level as A, B, C and D. Among all classes, the cost of under and overestimating demand was calculated for setting up the area allocation by following the concept of revenue management. Monte Carlo simulation was applied to simulate the existing and improved systems. The simulation results indicated that the average daily revenue could be improved when the storage area allocated to the lowest priority class (class D) was limited to be equal to the average daily demand of class D. Applying the proposed policy can help in increasing yearly revenue by approximately 73,638.75 Thai Baht. Finally, the implementation of the proposed procedure was discussed under the concept of Logistics 4.0.

Tracking the inventory of one's refrigerator has been a mission for consumers since the advent of the refrigerator. With the improvement of computer vision capabilities, automatic inventory systems are within reach. One inventory area with many potential benefits is the fresh food produce bins. The bins are a unique storage area due to their deep size. A user cannot easily see what is in the bins without opening the drawer. Produce items are also some of the quickest foods in the refrigerator to spoil, despite being temperature and humidity controlled to have the fruits and vegetables last longer. This research addresses the challenges presented by getting a full inventory of all items within the produce bins by observing if the hand can provide useful information. The research proposes that all items must go in or out of the refrigerator by the main door, and by using a single camera to observe the hand-object interactions, a more complete inventory list can be created. As an initial proof-of-concept, two types of produce, an apple and an orange, will be used as a testing ground. The accuracy of the hand analysis (e.g., hand with apple or orange vs. hand empty) was determined by comparing the model predictions to a 301-frame video with ground truth labels. The hand analysis system was 87% accurate for classifying an empty hand, 85% accurate on a hand holding an apple, and 74% accurate on a hand holding an orange. The system was 93% accurate at detecting what was added or removed from the refrigerator.

There are many ways to measure the efficiency of the storage area management in container terminals. These include minimising the need for container reshuffle especially at the yard level. In this paper, we consider the container reshuffle problem for stacking and retrieving containers. The problem was represented as a binary integer programming model and solved exactly. However, the exact method was not able to return results for large instances. We therefore considered a heuristic approach. A number of heuristics were implemented and compared on static and dynamic reshuffle problems including four new heuristics introduced here. Since heuristics are known to be instance dependent, we proposed a compatibility test to evaluate how well they work when combined to solve a reshuffle problem. Computational results of our methods on realistic instances are reported to be competitive and satisfactory.

Background. The availability of poor-quality drugs on the drug market might favor the ineffectiveness of the drug and/antimicrobial resistance. Aim. To evaluate the quality of similar batches of ethambutol hydrochloride tablets available in different governmental health facilities of Jimma town, southwest Ethiopia. Methods. The World Health Organization checklist was used to inspect the storage area of health facilities and check medicines for the sign of counterfeit. The test was conducted as per the United States Pharmacopeia on six similar batches of ethambutol hydrochloride sampled from different governmental health facilities. Data were analyzed using SPSS version 20, and one-way ANOVA was used for comparing the dissolution profile and weight variation of batches. Results. Three health facilities did not comply with the storage area specifications for pharmaceuticals. No batches have shown any sign of counterfeit. All of the tablet batches tested complied with USP specifications for weight variation, percentage purity, and dissolution test. Conclusions and Recommendation. The entire tablet batches complied with the World Health Organization specification for packaging and labelling of pharmaceuticals. All tablet batches complied with the test for weight variation, purity of drug substance, and dissolution. Since some health facilities did not comply with at least one specification for storage of pharmaceuticals, regulatory agencies and stack holders are advised to inspect the health facilities to ensure appropriate storage of pharmaceuticals in health facilities.

Analiza aktivne požarne zaščite zajema razvoj požara in načine delovanja sistemov aktivne požarne zaščite. The analysis of active fire protection covers the development of fire and the ways in which active fire protection systems operate. When choosing active fire protection systems, it is necessary to have a good knowledge of the properties of the area in question and to expect the course of the fire. Based on the expected fire development, it is possible to select suitable systems for fire detection and extinguishment, which affects the speed of fire extinguishing and its consequences. The first part of the diploma thesis is intended for the presentation of the theoretical foundations of active fire protection and the process of analysis of the effects of active fire protection. The systems for detecting and extinguishing fires and the properties of fire brigades in the vicinity of the building are presented. The second part of the diploma thesis contains an analysis of the effects of active fire protection on fire in a municipal container under a free-standing canopy. In the analysis of the effects of active fire protection on the fire in the municipal container, two fire scenarios with different active fire protection systems were considered. In both cases, active fire protection was found to be sufficient to extinguish the fire. The present case concludes that it is possible to ensure the success of fire extinguishing only by installing fire detection and alarm system of the fire brigade. These findings are not intended for the final design of active fire protection systems but are intended only to narrow the set of active fire protection systems for a detailed analysis of active fire protection, which is not part of this thesis.

In this modern era, most people need objects that are useful for their daily routine and as a means of communication that usually form of identification or souvenir. One of the most common identification and souvenirs used by the public is the pins and key chains. Pick-knitting materials and key chains that belong to many diverse sizes should have a special storage area that can be used in addition to storing pin fixtures, but also used to protect from damage and not scattered anywhere. However, from the observation of some printing media in Samarinda one of them in Mabes O2, it is known that the storage of pin equipment that they use today is only a plastic paper stacked in a cardboard box or plastic so that the equipment makes the pin making material becomes very easy to mix. In a report entitled "Storage Place of Pin Making Equipment" has provided a new alternative in the development of pin storage equipment design. The purpose of this project is to design an innovate product that facilitates and accelerates the user in the production process of finishing pin or key chain. Integrating uncertainties into the optimization process is crucial to obtain solutions suitable for practical needs. In particular, the considered uncertainty set has a huge impact on the quality of the computed solutions. In this paper, we consider a storage loading problem in which a set of items must be loaded into a partly filled storage area, regarding stacking constraints and taking into account stochastic data of items arriving later. We propose a robust optimization approach dealing with the stochastic uncertainty. With a focus on constructing the uncertainty set, we offer a rule-based scenario generation approach to derive such a set from the stochastic data. To evaluate the robustness of stacking solutions, we introduce the concept of a security level, which is the probability that a stacking solution is feasible when the data of the uncertain items are realized. Computational results for randomly generated problem instances are presented showing the impact of various factors on the trade-off between robustness and cost of the stacking solutions.

Kentselyeşil alanların sürdürülebilir olması da Konya’nın kentsel sürdürülebilirliğine katkısağlayacaktır., Urban green spaces can be a comprehensive tool to ensure the sustainability of cities. Thesustainability of green areas in planning, design, implementation, maintenance andoperation processes contributes to the sustainable development of cities as well. There aremany ways to ensure that green areas are sustainable from a social, economic andecological point of view. These include the construction and use of compost underrecycling and re-evaluation. The wastes generated as a result of periodic maintenance inurban green areas are disposed together with other wastes in solid waste storage area. However, the use of organic wastes in composting can ensure that green areas aresustainable by reducing both recycling and periodic maintenance costs of green areas. The aim of this study is to improve the idea of recycling and re-evaluation of organicwastes which are emerged in green areas by composting and using them in green areas. For this purpose, a model for composting and replacing fertilizer from organic wastesemerged in green areas of Konya was proposed. Thus, the costs of green areas with veryhigh design, implementation and maintenance expenses will be reduced and they will besustainable within themselves. If flammable gas is mixed with air, and the mixture is ignited, it is possible to form a vapor cloud explosion (VCE) which may be very destructive, and easy to trigger a domino effect of accidents because of its large extent of impact. A VCE accident may induce secondary VCE accidents, then tertiary VCE accidents, and so on. This is called the cascading effect of VCE accidents, which requires an understanding of probabilities and propagation patterns to prevent and mitigate the potential damages. In this work, a methodology based on Petri-net is proposed to model the cascading effect of VCE accidents and perform probability analysis, taking the mutual influence between the accidents into account. The deficiency in probability analysis of VCE accidents is discussed. According to the limits of states and their changes which reflect characteristics of VCE propagation, a Petri-net approach is provided for modeling and analysis of VCE cascading effect, and the modeling approach and analysis process of VCE cascading effect are presented. The application and efficacy of the methodology are demonstrated via an example of VCE accidents occurring in a gasoline tank storage area. The results show that the developed methodology can effectively reveal the propagation patterns of VCEs cascading and calculate the respective probabilities of VCE accidents.

With the increased use of mobile diesel-powered equipment in underground mines, the fire risk posed by underground diesel fuel storage areas is a concern. To reduce the risk associated with the storage and transfer of large quantities of diesel fuel in permanent underground mine storage areas, an experimental study was conducted to investigate the responses of different sensors for early detection of diesel fuel fires in a storage area. Fire sensors tested in this study were four carbon monoxide (CO) sensors, two smoke sensors, and one flame sensor. A series of fire tests were conducted in the NIOSH Safety Research Coal Mine, Bruceton, PA, using various fire sizes at different ventilation airflow velocities and fire locations. Response times for different sensors were analyzed, and the results suggest that the flame sensor and smoke sensors resulted in shorter response times in most tests compared to the CO sensors. Based on the test results, the appropriate sensor locations for early fire detection in a diesel fuel storage area were identified. The results of this study can help mining companies to select appropriate fire sensors for underground diesel fuel storage areas and improve the deployment of these sensors to ensure the safety of underground miners.

ITER magnets are in the final phases of production and are preparing for the upcoming assembly challenges. The ITER magnet team has expressed the need for close-range support labs in order to perform qualification tests, procedure tuning, mockup testing, site acceptance tests, as well as training of assembly staff and logistics management. In the framework of its general support to the ITER project, CEA's Institute for Magnetic Fusion Research proposed a support structure in line with this need on CEA Cadarache premises. In July 2014, the MIFI agreement (Magnet Infrastructure Facilities for ITER) was signed between ITER organization and CEA. It led to the creation of four laboratories and a storage area dedicated to magnet instrumentation components. This paper gives a general description of the work organization in MIFI, and describes the main ongoing activities with specific focuses on critical qualification activities like high-voltage testing and diagnostic of Glass–Kapton–Glass resin impregnated insulation and the scale 1 mock-up and test of the intermediate outer intercoil structure assembly procedure.

As a storage area of dangerous chemicals, oil and gas storage areas are prone to major leakage, fire and explosion accidents. In order to study the multi-factor catastrophic effect of the oil and gas storage tank under the influence of the domino accident, the non-linear relationship between the various disaster factors in the oil and gas storage tank area is obtained through the analysis of the multi-factor cooperative coupling in other research fields. The accident scene is based on the evolution of the scene, the establishment of Bayesian network based on multi-factor disaster accident model. Based on the actual case and the established model, the risk of disaster control in the oil and gas storage tank area is analyzed. The results show that the accident propagation path can be effectively cut off, the various hazard factors can be reduced and the probability of accident occurrence can be reduced.

The development of stromwater management usually promote to provide the safe passage of stromwater. However physical modelling need expensive laboratory experiments. Due to that this numerical study is performed to study the flow within storage area of HDPE modular pavement. This paper studied and compared the infiltration rate of diagonal modular and conventional pavement (control), determined the velocity magnitude and pressure of modular pavement at various rainfall intensities. FLOW-3D was used to run a simulation on a porous media flow model using the Navier-Stokes equation. Real rainfall data of Malaysia was used as the model inputs to get better analysis of pavement design. The present findings showed that storage area modular pavement has lower fraction of fluid than control, which means that it has greater holding capacity and capable to capture all the rainfall volume from 5mm/h to 85mm/h. Besides, rainfall intensity has a strong influence on velocity magnitude and pressure. The HDPE diagonal modular pavement strong enough to sustain with an increasing of velocity magnitude and pressure during extreme rainfall. Therefore, HDPE modular pavement indicates a better water interception capacity than conventional pavement. FLOW-3D helps the critical analysis of pavement design process and useful as supplementary tool.

A robotic mobile fulfillment system (RMFS) is a “parts-to-picker” system employing a fleet of autonomous vehicles (AV), which transport pods between a storage area and picking stations. In this paper, an AV interference-free scheduling on bidirectional paths (IFSB) approach is studied and shows better working efficiency than unidirectional paths. In order to model AV scheduling on bidirectional path with interference-free constraints, a no-wait flexible process job shop scheduling problem (NWFPJSP) is employed to evaluate total completion time. A mathematical model aiming to minimize the total completion time is presented with as constraint interference-free operation. An A* algorithm is modified for path planning and a simulated annealing algorithm (SA) is employed for scheduling AVs and their paths. Based on a case study with a small RMFS, the IFSB approach results in a 40% increase of the storage capacity and a 22% decrease of the total completion time when compared to a unidirectional approach. Meanwhile, the number of AVs stop-starts are decreased by 40% and the paths length for all AV are decreased by 36%. This indicates the great potential of bidirectional paths in future logistic applications, which may increase the storage capacity, working efficiency, technical health of the AVs, and environmental sustainability.
