This study investigates the dynamic interactions between green technology, health expenditure, and life expectancy in Malaysia, employing short-run and long-run Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) tests. In the short run, while the natural logarithm of health expenditure (LNHE) and gross domestic product (LNGDP) exhibit positive coefficients, suggesting potential relationships, statistical significance is not established at the conventional 0.05 level. However, the negative coefficient for the real exchange rate (LNRE) indicates a statistically significant negative relationship with life expectancy. In the long run, positive and negative coefficients for LNHE and LNGDP, respectively, lack statistical significance. LNRE suggests potential significance just beyond the conventional threshold. The model explains a substantial proportion of variance in the dependent variable, but caution is advised due to potential overfitting. These findings emphasize the intricate nature of these relationships, prompting a careful interpretation and highlighting the need for further analyses and data exploration to fortify conclusions. This study uses panel ARDL analysis to investigate the connections between GDP growth, environmental degradation, and public debt in the ASEAN-5 countries (Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines, Singapore, and Indonesia) from 1996 to 2021. It appears that economic development can increase public debt, but investment can reduce public debt in the long run. Moreover, there is a positive correlation between savings and public debt, but only in the short run. These findings raise important considerations for policymakers in striking a balance between economic development, environmental sustainability, and public debt. This study also suggests that savings may positively affect public debt in Indonesia. In contrast, investment may raise debt in the short term in Malaysia, the Philippines, and Singapore. The possible effects of corruption on public debt in the Philippines and environmental damage in both that country and Thailand are also highlighted. The effects of remittance inflows, economic output, and electricity use on CO2 emissions in the Developing-8 countries are examined in this study from 1989 to 2019, employing the Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) approach. The findings indicate that remittance inflows can mitigate CO2 emissions in the long run. However, economic output and electricity use can increase environmental degradation in the region in the long run. Besides, CO2 emissions can intensify in the long run if population growth and exports rise, while imports do not have impact on environmental degradation in the long run. The short-run results show that all the variables do not significantly impact the environment, except for exports and imports. Therefore, in order to lower CO2 emissions, the D-8 countries must embrace the use of more renewable energy. Although remittance inflows can mitigate environmental degradation in the D-8 countries, a brain drain that affects economic output may occur. Hence, we recommend that governments focus on improving their economies while reducing environmental degradation by using more green technology and renewable energy. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Previously, many studies explored the effects of oil price on inflation by using the price of crude oil as the proxy of oil price. The novelty of this current study is that it used several types of fuel prices including RON95, RON97 and Diesel. This study employed the ARDL approach and analysed the monthly data from 2010 to 2015 in Malaysia. The result shows that there are significant effects of the price of RON95, RON97 and diesel on inflation in the long run in Malaysia. However, in the short run, the price of RON97 does not affect inflation while the prices of RON95 and diesel do affect inflation in Malaysia.

The Phillips curve shows the trade-off relationship between the inflation and unemployment rates. A rise in inflation due to the high economic growth, more jobs are available and therefore unemployment will fall. However, the existence of the Phillips curve in high-income countries has not been much discussed. Countries with high income should have low unemployment rate, suggesting a high inflation. However, some high-income countries, the United States in 1970s for example, could not avert stagflation whereby high unemployment rate and inflation occurred in the same time. This situation is contrary to the Phillips curve. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the existence of the Phillips curve in high-income countries for the period 1990-2014 using the panel data analysis. The most interesting finding of this study is the existence of a bidirectional relationship between unemployment rate and inflation rate in both long and short runs. The advent of online business has changed the pattern of doing business recently. This circumstance puts more pressure on SMEs to sustain their position in the fiercely competitive market. Unlike multinational companies, SMEs have several inevitable weaknesses in terms of planning strategy, technology exposure as well as resources that serve as a stumbling block to their better and competitive performance. Thus, online business appears to be a new medium to enhance the performance. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the influences of effectiveness, competitive advantage and market accessibility on SME performance in Malaysia. This study uses cross sectional study which focuses on SMEs that are engaged in online businesses. 200 questionnaires were distributed particularly to SMEs in food and beverages (F&B); apparel and textile (A&T); and health and cosmetic (H&C) industries in Malaysia. The global push for sustainable development has brought environmental issues to the fore. As minimizing environmental deterioration implies reducing energy consumption, this has come under intense discussion among economists and policymakers. This is because it may affect productivity, and thus slow economic growth ensues. Most earlier studies focused on overall energy consumption rather than energy use by sector to see how it can affect CO2 emissions. However, little research has been conducted on the connection between energy use in particular sectors, such as agriculture and transportation, and CO2 emissions. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the impacts of energy use in Malaysia's transportation, industrial, and agricultural sectors and foreign direct investment (FDI) on CO2 emissions between 1989 and 2019. The ARDL technique is employed, and the results demonstrate that energy consumption in the transportation sector has a greater impact on CO2 emissions than in the industrial sector. On the other hand, energy use in the agricultural sector reduces CO2 emissions. These findings may help policymakers formulate the right policies in specific sectors to benefit communities. The tourism industry plays an important role in boosting economic growth, providing job opportunities, and reducing the poverty rates in many countries. For this reason, the factors influencing tourism should be investigated, to ensure continued growth within the industry. Few studies had examined the effect of violent crime on tourist arrivals and price competitiveness in Malaysia. An increasing criminal activity and a rise in prices may discourage tourism arrivals. This paper applies an autoregressive distributed lag (ARDL) model to estimate Malaysia's determinants of tourism arrivals, on the period from 1986 to 2016. Tourism demand is modeled as a function of economic growth, tourism accommodation, prices (proxied by exchange rates and inflation), unemployment, and the crime index to proxy criminal activity in Malaysia. The results showed that inflation can reduce the number of tourists in the long run and in the short run. Similarly, the results also show that a higher exchange rate and violent crime index can reduce the number of tourists visiting Malaysia in the short run. Economic growth can attract more tourists to Malaysia in the long run. These findings are important for the formulation and implementation of policies. The Malaysian government should combat violent crime in the first place to prevent any reduction in tourist arrivals. The agriculture sector is one of the most important sectors and drivers of Malaysia's economic growth. It has become the backbone of the agro-based industry and provided many job opportunities to the community. The use of technology in agriculture affects CO2 emissions through the use of energy sources. Therefore, this study is conducted to explore the effect of energy consumption in the agricultural sector on CO2 emissions in Malaysia. Using annual data from 1981 to 2018 and the Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) method, results show that there is a negative relationship between energy consumption in the agricultural sector and CO2 emissions in the long run. However, there is no relationship between energy consumption in the agricultural sector and CO2 emissions in short run. Other than that, population growth and economic growth can affect CO2 emissions in the short and long run. Therefore, the findings indicate that an increase in energy consumption in the agricultural sector can reduce CO2 emissions. This situation is considered to be good for the environment. This paper aims to examine the relationship between CO2 emission, economic growth, and energy use in Malaysia. The Johansen co-integration model was then applied. The results show that one co-integrating equation exists, thus implying the long-term relationships between carbon dioxide emission, energy consumption, and economic growth and the results are affirmed by the VECM test. The results of the Granger causality model show that in Malaysia, energy use influence economic growth and also carbon dioxide emission. The findings in our study are highly important in policy implementation. Energy consumption can trigger environmental problems in Malaysia. Previous studies have investigated various determinants of CO2 emissions, such as energy use, economic expansion and population growth. However, foreign workers have not been treated as a potential determinant. Therefore, this research embarks on an investigation into the impacts of energy use, foreign workers and tourist arrivals on CO2 emissions in Malaysia from 1982 to 2018. An ARDL approach was employed, and the findings showed that natural gas and electricity use insignificantly influence CO2 emissions. Tourist arrivals, coal use and oil use were found to positively influence CO2 emissions, while foreign workers and population growth insignificantly influence CO2 emissions. It was found that in the early stages of development, higher GDP negatively influences CO2 emissions, but in the final stages, higher GDP positively influences CO2 emissions. These findings are important for formulating policies to reduce environmental degradation stemming from higher CO2 emissions. Malaysia should use more renewable energy sources, and a carbon tax could be imposed to reduce environmental degradation. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
