Louisfuchsite (IMA 2022-024), with an end-member formula Ca2(Mg4Ti2)(Al4Si2)O20, is a new refractory mineral identified in a Ca-Al-rich inclusion (CAI) from the NWA 4964 CK3.8 carbonaceous chondrite. Louisfuchsite occurs with spinel, perovskite, grossmanite, plus secondary rutile, titanite, and ilmenite in three regions in the CAI. The mean chemical composition of type louisfuchsite by electron probe microanalysis is (wt%) Al2O3 25.48, SiO2 18.40, MgO 17.92, TiO2 15.36, Ti2O3 3.13, CaO 14.92, FeO 3.30, V2O3 0.67, Cr2O3 0.08, total 99.26, giving rise to an empirical formula of C a 2.00 (M g 3.44 T i 1.49 4 + F e 0.36 T i 0.34 3 + A l 0.24 V 0.07 3 + C a 0.06 C r 0.01 ) Σ 6.01 (A l 3.63 S i 2.37 ) Σ 6.00 O 20 . Louisfuchsite has the P 1 rhönite structure with a = 10.37(1) Å, b = 10.76(1) Å, c = 8.90(1) Å, α = 106.0(1)°, β = 96.0(1)°, γ= 124.7(1)°, V = 741(2) Å3, and Z = 2, as revealed by electron backscatter diffraction. The calculated density using the measured composition is 3.44 g/cm3. Louisfuchsite is a new refractory phase from the solar nebula, crystallized from an 16O-rich (Δ17O ~ –24 ± 2‰) refractory melt with the initial 26Al/27Al ratio of (5.09 ± 0.58) × 10–5 under reduced conditions. Investigating mineral/melt Sn partitioning at high temperatures and pressures is a difficult task because Sn is a redox-sensitive multivalent element and easily alloys with noble metal sample capsules. To obtain accurate Sn partition coefficients between titanite, ilmenite, and granitic melts, we developed single capsule Pt or Au and double capsule Pt95Rh5 (or Au)-Re designs to avoid significant Sn loss at a controlled oxygen fugacity (fO2). With these new capsule designs, we performed piston-cylinder experiments of Sn partitioning between titanite, ilmenite, and granitic melts. The experimental P-T-fO2 conditions were 0.5–1.0 GPa, 850–1000 °C, and ~QFM+8 to ~QFM-4 (quartz-fayalite-magnetite, QFM, buffer), with fO2 controlled by the solid buffers of Ru-RuO2, Re-ReO2, Co-CoO, graphite, and Fe-FeO. The obtained mineral/melt Sn partition coefficients ( D S n m i n / m e l t ) are 0.48–184.75 for titanite and 0.03–69.45 for ilmenite at the experimental conditions. The D S n m i n / m e l t values are largely dependent on fO2, although the effects of temperature and melt composition are also observed. D S n T t n / m e l t strongly decreases with decreasing fO2, from ~46–185 at the most oxidizing conditions (Ru-RuO2 buffer), to ~2–16 at moderately oxidizing to moderately reducing conditions (Re-ReO2 to Co-CoO and graphite buffers), to < 1 at the most reducing conditions (Fe-FeO buffer). D S n I l m / m e l t exhibits a variation trend similar to D S n T t n / m e l t but is always lower than D S n T t n / m e l t at a given fO2. These D S n m i n / m e l t values can be applied to quantitatively assess the mineralization potential of granitic magmas. The 369 m deep M4 drill hole, located ~18 km NNW of the center of the 146 Ma Morokweng impact structure (MIS), intersects shocked Archean granitoid gneisses and subsidiary dolerite intrusions that are cut by faults, cataclasites and mm‐ to m‐wide suevitic and pseudotachylitic breccia dikes. The shock features in quartz in the gneisses and breccia dikes include decorated planar deformation features (PDFs), planar fractures, feather features, and toasting. Other minerals show features that may be shock‐related, such as multiple sets of planar features and alternate twin ladder structures in feldspars, kink bands in biotite, and planar features in titanite, apatite, and zircon; however, these are variably annealed and/or overprinted by hydrothermal alteration effects, and confirmation of their origin awaits further study. Universal Stage measurements of PDF sets in quartz from 12 gneissic target rocks and from lithic and mineral clasts in three suevitic and three pseudotachylitic breccia dikes reveal four dominant sets: (0001), {101¯3$$ 10\overline{1}3 $$}, {101¯4$$ 10\overline{1}4 $$} and {101¯2$$ 10\overline{1}2 $$}. Based on these observations, the average peak shock pressure in these rocks is estimated at ≤16 GPa, which supports the original proximity (within one transient cavity radius) of these rocks to the point of impact. No discernible depth‐dependent shock attenuation was noted in the core. These shock levels and the elevated structural position of the rocks in the M4 core relative to the impact melt sheet intersected in drill holes closer to the center of the MIS suggest that the M4 lithologies represent part of the parautochthonous peak ring volume that subsequently experienced 1.5–2 km of post‐impact erosion before it was buried beneath younger sediments. Numerical modeling using the iSALE‐2D code suggests that the original Morokweng crater had a rim‐to‐rim diameter of between 70 and 80 km, and that the rocks in the M4 core were originally located at a depth of 7–8 km and a radial distance of 8–9 km from the point of impact. The ion-adsorption-type rare earth element (iREE) deposits dominantly supply global resources of the heavy rare earth elements (HREEs), which have a critical role in a variety of advanced technological applications. The initial enrichment of REEs in the parent granites controls the formation of iREE deposits. Many Mesozoic and Cenozoic granites are associated with iREE mineralization in the Tengchong block, Southwest China. However, it is unclear how vital the mineralogical and geochemical characteristics of these granites are to the formation of iREE mineralization. We conducted geochronology, geochemistry, and Hf isotope analyses of the Yingpanshan–Damanbie granitoids associated with the iREE deposit in the Tengchong block with the aims to discuss their petrogenesis and illustrate the process of the initial REE enrichment in the granites. The results showed that the Yingpanshan–Damanbie pluton consists of syenogranite and monzogranite, containing REE-bearing accessory minerals such as monazite, xenotime, apatite, zircon, allanite, and titanite, with a high REE concentration (210–626 ppm, mean value is 402 ppm). The parent granites have Zr + Nb + Ce + Y (333–747 ppm) contents and a high FeOT/MgO ratio (5.89–11.4), and are enriched in Th (mean value of 43.6 ppm), U (mean value of 4.57 ppm), Zr (mean value of 305 ppm), Hf (mean value of 7.94 ppm), Rb (mean value of 198 ppm), K (mean value of 48,902 ppm), and have depletions of Sr (mean value of 188 ppm), Ba (mean value of 699 ppm), P (mean value of 586 ppm), Ti (mean value of 2757 ppm). The granites plot in the A-type area in FeOT/MgO vs. Zr + Nb + Ce + Y and Zr vs. 10,000 Ga/Al diagrams, suggesting that they are A2-type granites. These granites are believed to have formed through the partial melting of amphibolites at a post-collisional extension setting when the Tethys Ocean closed. REE-bearing minerals (e.g., apatite, titanite, allanite, and fluorite) and rock-forming minerals (e.g., potassium feldspar, plagioclase, biotite, muscovite) supply rare earth elements in weathering regolith for the Yingpanshan–Damanbie iREE deposit. The study of rock chemistry is a milestone in understanding fluid–rock interactions and fluid migration in subduction zones. When combined with thermodynamic models, it can provide direct insight into fluid composition, metasomatic reactions, and pressure–temperature (P – T) conditions, as well as their role in rock deformation. Here, a shear zone – located in the Mont Avic area of the Zermatt-Saas zone (Western Alps) – is analyzed. This shear zone consists of several blocks of different lithotypes, including a Ca-rich metasomatite block embedded in a serpentinite mylonitic matrix, and structurally underlies a coherent eclogitic mafic unit. This work aims to estimate the pressure–temperature conditions of the Ca-rich metasomatism and the amount of fluid involved. The brecciation exhibits mosaic breccia textures with clasts comprising ∼80 vol % of garnet, together with omphacite, epidote, titanite, rutile, and apatite hosted in an omphacite matrix. Quantitative chemical mapping of the garnet reveals primary garnet cores with embayment and lobate edges with a chemical composition similar to unaltered reference eclogite garnet. These primary garnet cores are overlain by Ca-rich metasomatic garnet rims with oscillatory chemical zoning. The oscillatory chemical zoning, together with the morphology of the primary garnet cores, suggests repeated influxes of external Ca-rich fluid that destabilized the primary garnet cores and promoted the growth of Ca-rich rims. Mass balance calculations between precursor metabasite and Ca-metasomatite indicate multiple fluid sources involving dehydrated serpentinite, calcic metasediments, and metabasites with time-integrated fluid fluxes calculated between 11.5×103 and 5.5×104 m fluid3 m rock-2 , consistent with channelized fluid flow in an open system. Thermodynamic modeling of garnet from unbrecciated and non-metasomatized metabasites – from the Savoney eclogitic mafic unit – indicates peak metamorphic conditions of 2.5±0.1 GPa and 535±40 °C, consistent with regional estimates. Pressure–temperature conditions of metasomatism were constrained using P – X and T – X phase modeling (where X represents changes in bulk CaO and Na 2 O composition) between 2.6–2.2 GPa and 570–500 °C, showing that Ca-rich fluid percolation occurred close to the metamorphic peak (i.e., prograde to the peak or early exhumation path). Fluid infiltration into Proterozoic and Early Palaeozoic dry, orthopyroxene-bearing granitoids and gneisses in Dronning Maud Land, Antarctica, has caused changes to rock appearance, mineralogy, and rock chemistry. The main mineralogical changes are the replacement of orthopyroxene by hornblende and biotite, ilmenite by titanite, and various changes in feldspar structure and composition. Geochemically, these processes resulted in general gains of Si, mostly of Al, and marginally of K and Na but losses of Fe, Mg, Ti, Ca, and P. The isotopic oxygen composition (δ18OSMOW = 6.0‰–9.9‰) is in accordance with that of the magmatic precursor, both for the host rock and infiltrating fluid. U-Pb isotopes in zircon of the altered and unaltered syenite to quartz-monzonite indicate a primary crystallization age of 520.2 ± 1.0 Ma, while titanite defines alteration at 485.5 ± 1.4 Ma. Two sets of gneiss samples yield a Rb-Sr age of 517 ± 6 Ma and a Sm-Nd age of 536 ± 23 Ma. The initial Sr and Nd isotopic ratios suggest derivation of the gneisses from a relatively juvenile source but with a very strong metasomatic effect that introduced radiogenic Sr into the system. We present 230Th‐238U crystallization ages and trace element compositions for zircons spanning the late Pleistocene to Holocene rhyolite eruptive record at South Sister volcano in the central Oregon Cascade Range. Most zircon ages are between 100 and 20 ka, with very few in secular equilibrium (>350 ka). The weighted mean of zircon ages for the two oldest South Sister rhyolites, 31.5 ± 2.1 and 39.1 ± 2.4 ka, are significantly younger than the associated 40Ar/39Ar ages, 47.4 ± 9.7 and 51.4 ± 9.7 ka. We propose that these 40Ar/39Ar dates, performed on plagioclase separates, are compromised by a subtle amount of excess Ar and therefore the younger weighted mean zircon ages yield more reliable eruption ages. These results imply that the interval of rhyolite eruption at South Sister during the late Pleistocene was both shorter and more productive than previously thought and that eruption at South Sister initiated after Middle Sister. Compositionally, zircons from the Pleistocene rhyolites are broadly similar and show down‐temperature zircon and plagioclase crystallization trends. However, we argue that destabilized amphibole and titanite in a common mush also exert leverage on the Pleistocene zircon trace element compositions. Divergence in the Eu/Eu* ratio between the Pleistocene and Holocene lavas implies chemically distinct magma reservoirs originating from the Pleistocene rhyolite eruptive sequence and the Holocene eruptive sequence. This work suggests a higher flux of rhyolite volcanism than previously thought and characterizes magmatic storage distinctions between the Pleistocene and Holocene rhyolites, aiding in the assessment of future eruptive hazards at South Sister volcano. This study investigates the preparation of TiO 2 –SiO 2 –CaCO 3 composite opacifier (Ti–Si–Ca) and its application in sanitary ceramic glazes. This approach involved hydrophobic agglomeration through surface-induced hydrophobic modification of TiO 2 , SiO 2 and CaCO 3 particles, along with the interactions between the hydrophobic carbon chains of modifiers. The Ti–Si–Ca formed a uniform coating with well-dispersed TiO 2 and SiO 2 particles on the CaCO 3 surface and strong bonds formed among TiO 2 , SiO 2 and CaCO 3 through interpenetration of the organic carbon chains on the surface. The Ti–Si–Ca was added to the basic glazes of sanitary ceramics at a proportion of 15.5 % and fired at 1125 °C for 4 h. The resulting white ceramic glazes had chromaticity values of L*, a*, and b* at 93.76, −0.73, and 3.89, respectively, demonstrating superior glaze opacity and whiteness compared to glazes made with a ZrSiO 4 opacifier (L* 90.30, b* 4.50). Glass and titanite phase make up the majority of the Ti–Si–Ca ceramic glazing layer of, with titanite serving as the opacified phase. Elimination of organic groups in Ti–Si–Ca during glaze firing formed interfacial chemical bonds among TiO 2 , SiO 2 and CaCO 3 , which facilitated the synthesis of titanite from the three components at high temperatures. The Ti–Si–Ca was a highly opaque glaze without yellowing because the organic groups of Ti–Si–Ca were removed and interfacial chemical bonds formed among the TiO 2 , SiO 2 and CaCO 3 in the low-temperature stage of glaze firing. This transformed the three phases into titanite at high temperature and eliminated free TiO 2. The formation of rutile TiO 2 , which has a yellow hue, at high temperatures was inhibited. This study provides a novel approach for low-energy preparation of TiO 2 –SiO 2 –CaCO 3 composite opacifiers and addresses the challenge of replacing ZrSiO 4 with TiO 2 in ceramic opacifiers. Garnet granulite xenoliths from the Nurbinskaya diatreme in the central part of the Archean Anabar province in Siberia are fragments of the local lower crust that experienced multiple metamorphic events in the Paleoproterozoic and reheating events in the Mesoproterozoic and later. This study addresses the timing of metamorphic transformations, and constrains the cooling rate and the time of stabilization of the lower crust. The observed metamorphic mineral assemblage of garnet, clinopyroxene, plagioclase, amphibole, rutile and ilmenite was formed at ~ 800 °C, 1.1–1.2 GPa under water-undersaturated conditions at ~ 1.88 Ga. However, the mineral assemblage is not well equilibrated and retains evidence of earlier and subsequent metamorphic stages. Late titanite formed in response to hydrous fluid influx according to phase equilibria modeling. U-Pb dating shows two events of titanite formation at 1850 ± 5 Ma and at 1788 ± 2 Ma. After deformation, which led to the porphyroclastic rock textures, the granulites underwent near-isobaric cooling. The cooling rate was higher than ~ 6 °C/Myr, to retain the garnet compositional zoning. Rutile ages are discordant, with 207Pb/206Pb dates ranging from 1.43 to 1.53 Ga. However, rutile may have responded to earlier thermal pulses, and was also reset later, so it does not record the stabilization of the crust. Subduction erosion at convergent margins is a leading mechanism for the destruction (recycling and reworking) of continental crust. But because of the lack of direct evidence, it is not straightforward to identify erosive events and their intensities in fossil subduction zones. The Heilongjiang accretionary complex in northeastern China was formed during the early Mesozoic subduction of the Paleo-Pacific Ocean. We investigated amphibolites from this accretionary complex, whose protoliths (based on whole-rock trace elements and Sr-Nd-Hf isotopes) were mafic continental arc magmatic rocks (255-249 Ma; zircon core U-Pb ages) from the upper plate. Phase equilibria modeling constrained by mineral geochemistry indicates that the amphibolites and their wall rocks were first heated to low granulite facies (750-800 °C, ~7 kbar) at 251-244 Ma (zircon rim U-Pb ages) and then cooled to ~700 °C with increasing pressure (8-9 kbar) before 213-187 Ma (titanite and apatite U-Pb ages). To explain the occurrence of the lower arc crustal lithologies in the accretionary complex and their metamorphic history, we propose that the subducting plate strongly eroded the forearc crust, allowing the plate interface to advance landward and scrape the amphibolites and wall rocks formed under the old arc, which finally were exhumed along the subduction channel and became components of the complex. The case study exemplifies direct petrological evidence of strong subduction erosion occurring in an ancient orogen, thus implying that consumption of the entire forearc crust could occur within only ~50 m.y. The Igla Ahmr region in the Central Eastern Desert (CED) of Egypt comprises mainly syenogranites and alkali feldspar granites, with a few tonalite xenoliths. The mineral potential maps were presented in order to convert the concentrations of total rare earth elements (REEs) and associated elements such as Zr, Nb, Ga, Y, Sc, Ta, Mo, U, and Th into mappable exploration criteria based on the line density, five alteration indices, random forest (RF) machine learning, and the weighted sum model (WSM). According to petrography and geochemical analysis, random forest (RF) gives the best result and represents new locations for rare metal mineralization compared with the WSM. The studied tonalites resemble I-type granites and were crystallized from mantle-derived magmas that were contaminated by crustal materials via assimilation, while the alkali feldspar granites and syenogranites are peraluminous A-type granites. The tonalites are the old phase and are considered a transitional stage from I-type to A-type, whereas the A-type granites have evolved from the I-type ones. Their calculated zircon saturation temperature TZr ranges from 717 °C to 820 °C at pressure < 4 kbar and depth < 14 km in relatively oxidized conditions. The A-type granites have high SiO2 (71.46–77.22 wt.%), high total alkali (up to 9 wt.%), Zr (up to 482 ppm), FeOt/(FeOt + MgO) ratios > 0.86, A/CNK ratios > 1, Al2O3 + CaO < 15 wt.%, and high ΣREEs (230 ppm), but low CaO and MgO and negative Eu anomalies (Eu/Eu* = 0.24–0.43). These chemical features resemble those of post-collisional rare metal A-type granites in the Arabian-Nubian Shield (ANS). The parent magma of these A-type granites was possibly derived from the partial melting of the I-type tonalitic protolith during lithospheric delamination, followed by severe fractional crystallization in the upper crust in the post-collisional setting. Their rare metal-bearing minerals, including zircon, apatite, titanite, and rutile, are of magmatic origin, while allanite, xenotime, parisite, and betafite are hydrothermal in origin. The rare metal mineralization in the Igla Ahmr granites is possibly attributed to: (1) essential components of both parental peraluminous melts and magmatic-emanated fluids that have caused metasomatism, leading to rare metal enrichment in the Igla Ahmr granites during the interaction between rocks and fluids, and (2) structural control of rare metals by the major NW–SE structures (Najd trend) and conjugate N–S and NE–SW faults, which all are channels for hydrothermal fluids that in turn have led to hydrothermal alteration. This explains why rare metal mineralization in granites is affected by hydrothermal alteration, including silicification, phyllic alteration, sericitization, kaolinitization, and chloritization. Heterogeneous grains in the heavy fractions of the placers of the Olkhovaya-1 river (Kamchatka Cape Peninsula, Eastern Kamchatka, Russia) containing Au-Ag, Au-Cu, and Au-Ag-Cu particles were analyzed using scanning electron microscopy, electron-probe microanalysis, and X-ray powder diffractometry. The analyses showed that auricupride dominates in some grains, whereas in others, the main phases are tetra-auricupride or Ag-rich and (or) Au-rich alloys. It was revealed that in the central parts of some grains of exsolution structures, auricupride Cu3.04–2.74Au0.96–1.26 (Ag < 1 wt.%) occurs in intergrowths with low-fineness Ag0.86–0.67Au0.09–0.33Cu<0.05 solid solutions (160‰–480‰), and tetra-auricupride Cu1.12–0.87Au0.88–1.11Ag<0.02 (Ag < 2 wt.%) occurs with higher-fineness Au0.73–0.62Ag0.2–0.38Cu<0.07 solid solutions (520‰–850‰). We also observed, mainly in the peripheral parts of the grains, insignificant amounts of secondary phases that were compositionally similar to Cu2Au, Cu3Au2, Au3Cu2, Au2Cu, Au3Cu, high-fineness gold with impurities of Cu and occasionally Ag (>850‰), and pure gold. In intergrowths with auricupride and tetra-auricupride, we also observed earlier-formed silicates (garnet, pyroxene, chlorite, epidote, titanite), syngenetic sulfides (pyrrhotite, bornite, galena), and later minerals (chalcocite, covellite, anilite, cuprite, goethite, etc.). The XRD analysis of the peripheral parts of some grains showed the presence of auricupride (Cu3Au), tetra-auricupride CuAu (I) and Cu(Au0.92Ag0.08) (II), and gold. The profiles show the absence of peaks of the Au3Cu phase and other Au-Ag-Cu phases identified by the EMPA, which is likely due to their low concentrations in the samples or their structural similarity to gold. It is assumed that the probable source of Au-Ag-Cu mineralization in the Olkhovaya-1 river placers is located in the upper reaches of watercourses that erode the ultrabasic massif of Mounts Soldatskaya and Golaya (Kamchatka Cape Peninsula). Giant Nb deposits hosted by alkaline igneous rocks worldwide are characterized by hydrothermal and/or metamorphic modifications after magmatic crystallization. However, the impact of secondary processes on Nb mineralization in alkaline igneous rocks remains controversial. In this study, U–Pb ages, elemental, and Nd isotope compositions of titanite from a series of Nb-rich dyke swarms in the Ziyang region of South Qinling (China) have been investigated to unveil Nb remobilization and enrichment histories during magmatic and hydrothermal processes. Three types of titanite are documented: magmatic, deuteric, and hydrothermal. The magmatic titanite (Ttn I) grains are euhedral wedge-shaped, while the deuteric type (Ttn II) occurs as coronas on magmatic ilmenite. The hydrothermal titanite (Ttn III) occurs as either bead-like clusters within the cleavage planes of chloritized biotite or as anhedral grains (lesser than 200 μm in diameter) coexisting with hydrothermal actinolite, chlorite, fluorite, and/or REE-rich oxides. The magmatic titanite grains from the most primitive igneous rocks have U–Pb ages of 455 ± 25 Ma and are characterized by high levels of Nb2O5 (up to 1.4 wt%) and other high field strength elements (HFSE, up to 1.3 wt% ZrO2), rare earth elements (REE), and V, and high mean crystallization temperatures (880 ± 40 °C), suggesting that they nucleated and crystallized in a high-T and Nb-rich alkaline magma during the Early Paleozoic. The gradual decrease in V, Sr, and Ba in Ttn I from mafic to intermediate dykes exemplifies the role of fractionation on magmatic enrichment of Nb (mean of 170 ppm and 7300 ppm for Ttn I in mafic and intermediate dykes, respectively) and other incompatible elements (e.g., Ta, Zr, Hf, Sn, Y, and REE) in the residual melt. The deuteric and hydrothermal types of titanites in each lithology have lower concentrations of HFSE (e.g., Nb mean of 140 ppm and 860 ppm for Ttn II in mafic and intermediate dykes, respectively), Sn, LREE, and Y but higher Al, F, V, Sr, and HREE contents than their magmatic counterpart. The deuteric and hydrothermal types of titanite have U–Pb ages of 420 ± 25 Ma and 232 ± 49 Ma, respectively, supporting two distinct hydrothermal events at Ziyang. The magmatic and deuteric types of titanite have similar ranges of εNd(t) values (+ 1.4 to + 3.5 and + 2 to + 4.2, respectively), indicative of a common source for these two generations. The hydrothermal titanite also has comparable εNd(t) values (+ 0.8 to + 2.7) to the magmatic and deuteric types, indicating a minimal external contribution to Nd (and by analogy Nb as well) from the late hydrothermal fluids. The deuteric and late hydrothermal F-rich fluids in Ziyang dyke swarms both remobilized the dispersed Nb in magmatic ilmenite, amphibole, and biotite to form secondary titanite (Ttn II, III), which is beneficial to the metallurgical extraction of this critical metal. Titanites can be excellent markers of element transfer in medium-temperature retrograde metamorphism. Euhedral titanites from several alpine fissures from Mont Blanc, particularly those of Périades and Courtes, crystallised at the end of the main quartz stage and are synchronous with the formation of green biotites and albite before chlorite formation. Micro-XRF, SEM, electron probe, and LA-ICP-MS analyses show that these titanites have a wide range of Al2O3 content from 1 to 8%, are dominated by -OH versus F, and have a wide range of Nb (up to 4500 ppm), Y (up to 3000 ppm), Zr (up to 1800 ppm), and Sn (up to 1400 ppm) concentrations. The allanite from the granite, partly destabilised into epidote, is the most likely source of Nb, Y, Zr, Sn, and REE. Titanites are enriched in HREE and show variations in LREE depending on the studied sites. Like quartz, they formed at around 400 ± 20 °C, which is compatible with the formation of green biotites after the destabilisation of granite Fe-Mg silicates. This early stage of fluid circulation, synchronous with the Mont Blanc massif uplift, is therefore marked by the titanite formation at the transition between the biotite and chlorite stability fields. We report on the primary and secondary mineralogies of three coarse‐grained igneous calcium‐aluminum‐rich inclusions (CAIs) (Compact Type A [CTA], Type B [B], and forsterite‐bearing type B [FoB]) from the Northwest Africa (NWA) 5343 (CK3.7) and NWA 4964 (CK3.8) carbonaceous chondrites, compare them with the mineralogy of igneous CAIs from the Allende (CV3.6) chondrite, and discuss the nature of the alteration processes that affected the CK and CV CAIs. The primary mineralogy and mineral chemistry of the CK3 CAIs studied are similar to those from Allende; however, primary melilite and anorthite are nearly completely absent. Although the secondary minerals identified in CK CAIs (Al‐diopside, andradite, Cl‐apatite, clintonite, forsterite, ferroan olivine, Fe,Ni‐sulfides, grossular, ilmenite, magnetite, plagioclase, spinel, titanite, and wadalite) occur also in the Allende CAIs, there are several important differences: (i) In addition to melilite and anorthite, which are nearly completely replaced by secondary minerals, the alteration of CK CAIs also affected high‐Ti pyroxenes (fassaite and grossmanite) characterized by high Ti3+/Ti4+ ratio and spinel. These pyroxenes are corroded and crosscut by veins of Fe‐ and Ti‐bearing grossular, Fe‐bearing Al,Ti‐diopside, titanite, and ilmenite. Spinel is corroded by Fe‐bearing Al‐diopside and grossular. (ii) The secondary mineral assemblages of grossular + monticellite and grossular + wollastonite, commonly observed in the Allende CAIs, are absent; the Fe‐bearing grossular + Fe‐bearing Al‐diopside ± Fe,Mg‐spinel, Fe‐bearing grossular + Fe,Mg‐olivine ± Fe,Mg‐spinel, and Ca,Na‐plagioclase + Fe‐bearing Al‐diopside + Fe‐bearing grossular assemblages are present instead. These mineral assemblages are often crosscut by veins of Fe‐bearing Al‐diopside, Fe,Mg‐olivine, Fe,Mg‐spinel, and Ca,Na‐plagioclase. The coarse‐grained secondary grossular and Al‐diopside often show multilayered chemical zoning with distinct compositional boundaries between the layers; the abundances of Fe and Ti typically increase toward the grain edges. (iv) Sodium‐rich secondary minerals, nepheline and sodalite, commonly observed in the peripheral portions of the Allende CAIs, are absent; Ca,Na‐plagioclase is present instead. We conclude that coarse‐grained igneous CAIs from CK3.7–3.8 s and Allende experienced an open‐system multistage metasomatic alteration in the presence of an aqueous solution–infiltration metasomatism. This process resulted in localized mobilization of all major rock‐forming elements: Si, Ca, Al, Ti, Mg, Fe, Mn, Na, K, and Cl. In order to enhance the degree of binding reaction of TiO2 in titanium-containing ceramic glazes and prevent the reaction of its transformation into rutile to eliminate the yellowing phenomenon of the glaze surface, an apatite–TiO2 composite opacifier (ATO) was prepared through the mechanical grinding of hydroxyapatite and anatase TiO2. The properties, opacification mechanism, and yellowing inhibition of the prepared ceramic glazes were studied. The results show that the ATO is characterized by a uniform coating of TiO2 on the surface of the apatite and the formation of close chemical bonding between the apatite and TiO2. The ceramic glaze surface when using an ATO has a white appearance and excellent opacification performance. When an ATO was used, the L*, a*, and b* values of the glaze were 89.99, −0.85, and 3.37, respectively, which were comparable to those of a ZrSiO4 glaze (L*, a*, and b* were 88.24, −0.02, and 2.29, respectively). The opacification of the glaze was slightly lower than that of the TiO2 glaze (L* value was 92.13), but the appearance changed from yellow to the white of the TiO2 glaze (b* value was 9.18). The ceramic glaze layer when using an ATO mainly consists of titanite, glass phase, and a small amount of quartz, and the opacification mechanism is the crystallization of the generated titanite. The tremolite nephrite deposit in Dahua county, Hechi City, Guangxi province, China is a new genetic type of nephrite deposit. It is hosed by Mg-poor limestone (~1.30 wt.% MgO) and intruded by diabase (~45 wt.% SiO2). The Mg and Si contents of these rocks are lower than those of the tremolite (58.18 wt.% SiO2, 13.18 wt.% CaO, 24.16 wt.% MgO), indicating an obviously insufficient source for the metallogenic material that generated the deposit. In particular, some tremolite nephrite ore bodies have no clear contact metamorphism between the host and intrusive rocks, which have the characteristics of stratified mineralization (stratified tremolite nephrite). The origin and mineralization of stratified tremolite nephrite remain poorly constrained. To address this shortcoming, the mineralogy, geochemistry and Sr isotopic of host rock, altered marble, stratified tremolite nephrite and intrusive rock in the Dahua stratified tremolite nephrite deposit were studied. The results show: stratified tremolite nephrite mainly consists of aggregates of microcrystalline-cryptocrystalline tremolites with content exceeding 95%. The in situ rare earth elements (REEs) distribution pattern of hydrothermal calcite in the contact position between stratified tremolite nephrite and marble is similar to that of marine carbonate rock, showing obvious enrichment of HREE, which is different from calcite in limestone and marble. 87Sr/86Sr of stratified tremolite nephrite is relatively uniform, with an average value of 0.7070, within the range of Permian seawater. The mean value of Y/Ho in the hydrothermal calcite is 51.24, indicating that the marine fluid has not been impregnated by terrigenous materials. In summary, the hydrothermal fluid rich in Ca and Si is formed after marine carbonate rocks are altered by marine fluids. Hydrothermal fluids alter diabase rocks formed by altered minerals like titanite, chamosite, zoisite, etc. This process leads to the formation of metallogenic hydrothermal fluids abundant in Si, Ca, Fe and Mg. Although carbonatite-alkaline complexes are the primary source of the world's niobium (Nb) supply, the mineralization style is largely variable in these complexes and the processes behind their formation are still poorly understood. Exemplifying with our new observations on the ~430 Ma Miaoya and Shaxiongdong carbonatite-syenite complexes in the southern Qinling orogenic belt, central China, show that disseminated Nb mineralization in these two deposits is pervasive throughout the entire complexes in both syenite and carbonatite. Both magmatic and hydrothermal processes have contributed to Nb mineralization in both deposits, despite differences in the mineralization style. The Nb-bearing minerals in the mineralized Miaoya syenites include magmatic U-poor pyrochlore, rutile, and ilmenite with minor amounts of columbite, and hydrothermal columbite and rutile, whereas those in the mineralized carbonatites are mainly magmatic U-poor pyrochlore, uranpyrochlore, U-rich betafite, and rutile with minor amounts of columbite, and hydrothermal columbite and rutile. On the other hand, the Nb-bearing minerals in the mineralized Shaxiongdong syenites include magmatic U-poor pyrochlore, titanite, rutile, and ilmenite, and hydrothermal fersmite, rutile, and ilmenite, whereas those in the mineralized carbonatites are mainly magmatic U-poor pyrochlore without any hydrothermal Nb-bearing minerals. Field observations, whole-rock chemical and Sr-Nd isotopic compositions strongly constrained that assimilation of U-rich rocks (e.g., the hosting Yaolinghe and Meiziya Groups) and magma differentiation are responsible for diverse magmatic Nb mineralization in the two deposits. On the other hand, the diverse assemblages of hydrothermal Nb minerals in Miaoya and Shaxiongdong are mainly controlled by variations in the nature of the fluids, which is constrained to be genetically related to ~220 and ~420 Ma hydrothermal events, respectively. Titanite (CaTiSiO5) nanomaterials were synthesized by two hydrothermal methods and then calcined at 550 and 1000°C, respectively. Their textural properties, crystalline structures, morphological features, and optical properties were characterized using N2 adsorption-desorption isotherms (BET), X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy-energy dispersive spectroscopy (TEM-EDS), thermogravimetry-differential thermal analysis (TG-DTA), and UV-vis spectroscopy. The samples calcined at 550°C mainly consisted of anatase TiO2 with some CaCO3 and amorphous SiO2, which converted into CaTiSiO5 with a small amount of CaSiO3 at 1000°C. The band gap energy (Eg) was lower because of the CaTiSiO5 formation at higher calcination temperature. The CaTiSiO5 photoactivity was evaluated in water splitting under UV light irradiation for H2 production. The highest H2 production rate was obtained with the nanomaterials prepared by the Method II calcined at 1000ºC. When formic acid was used as sacrificial agent, the hydrogen generation rate remarkably increased by 3 - 5 times (160 µmol·g-1 ·h-1). However, in the presence of methanol, the hydrogen generation rate was not significantly increased. Clearly, the acidic reaction media promoted the reduction of protons on the surface of the catalysts by trapping the excited electrons in the CaTiSiO5 conduction band, favouring the hydrogen production. Petrological and major-trace element mineral chemistry studies have been carried out on pyroxenites from the Pakkanadu alkaline-ultramafic complex from the southern India to understand their origin and nature of magma responsible for ultramafic magmatism in the area. Pyroxenites display cumulus texture and consist of clinopyroxenes (cpx) and amphiboles (amp) as dominant phases with a subordinate amount of apatite, biotite, ilmenite, magnetite, pyrite, sphene, and calcite. Mineral chemistry classifies cpx as augite and diopside, whereas amp falls under tremolite-actinolite and hornblende- actinolite fields. Cpx are alkaline to sub-alkaline in composition and Mg# -- Al2O3 compositions suggest their crystallization under high-pressure conditions. A negative correlation between Mg# and TiO2 in cpx suggests early crystallization of magnetite and pyrite; high Mg# (76-92) suggests its link with the Alaskan- type intrusions, which may be crystallized through fractionation-accumulation Processes. Tectonic discrimination diagrams for cpx argue for the magmatic emplacements underan arc-tholeiitic environment in a subduction zone setting. Amp mineral chemistry (high SiO2 and low TiO2) indicate as the products of hydrothermal alteration of clinopyroxenes. A Low Al/Si ratio in the cpx suggests their derivation from silica-oversaturated magma, whereas low-Ti contents reflect slow cooling rate of the magma. Positive Rb, Ba and U anomalies in the multi-element patterns of the cpx probably signifying varying degrees of hydrothermal alteration in the studied samples. However, consistent Nb-Ta depletion can also be attributed to an enriched mantle source of the magma from which pyroxenites were crystallized. Volcaniclastic rocks are important unconventional oil and gas reservoirs from which it is difficult to determine the protolith due to strong metasomatic alteration. Intensive alteration has occurred in much of western China, but few robustly documented examples are known from which to assess the alteration processes. Further recognition from the petrological and mineralogical record is essential to quantify the diagenetic environment, the degree of alteration, and its impacts. Permian volcanic rocks are widely developed in the western Sichuan Basin (southwestern China), with a thickness of more than 200 m. The thickness of volcaniclastic rocks in the Permian Emeishan Basalt Formation is up to 140 m, with a 5600~6000 m burial depth. In this study, we demonstrate an approach to recognizing hydrothermal alteration by the occurrence of scapolite megacryst mineral pseudomorphs (SMMPs) in Permian volcaniclastic rocks in the Sichuan Basin (southwestern China). The results show that SMMPs in the Permian volcaniclastic rocks in the western Sichuan Basin mainly occur in the lower part of the Permian basalts as intragranular minerals and rock inclusions. Scapolite is transformed into quartz and albite, and only the pseudomorph is preserved, indicating secondary hydrothermal fluid metasomatic alteration. Scapolite is formed after microcrystalline titanite and is the product of the high-temperature pneumatolytic metasomatism of plagioclase from the mafic protolith during the post-magmatic stage. The mixing of meteoric water and barium-rich hydrothermal fluid leads to the precipitation of barite; additionally, the pores are filled with barite and halite after the alteration of scapolite. The silicification and hydrothermal dissolution of scapolite and the albitization of sodium-rich matrix minerals increase the pore volume, which is conducive to the later recharge by hydrothermal fluids. Black shale-hosted vanadium (V) deposits account for about 80% vanadium resources in the world, but only <2% vanadium in the black shale can be extracted mainly due to insufficient recognition on the occurrence mode of vanadium. It is commonly agreed that most vanadium in the black shale is hosted in clay minerals and organic matters, but it is not clear how the other parts of vanadium exist and whether there exists a vanadium mineral, which has limited our understanding of metallogenic mechanism of black shale-hosted vanadium deposits. The Jiujiang Basin at the Lower Yangtze Block is a significant black shale-hosted vanadium metallogenic district. In this work, we conducted systematic studies of mineralogy, lithology and geochemistry on the occurrence of vanadium hosted in the black shales. Electron probe microanalysis (EPMA), Raman spectroscopy, and X-ray diffraction (XRD) show that the main vanadium-hosting mineral in the black shale is mannardite, with a structural formula of B a 0.96 ⋅ H 2 O T i 5.87 V 1.87 3 + V 0.11 4 + S i 0.07 C r 0.07 F e 0.02 3 + O 16.00 , space group I41/a, unit-cell parameters a = b = 14.346(7) Å, c = 5.899(1) Å, α = β = γ = 90°, Z = 4. Data from EPMA, TESCAN integrated mineral analyzer (TIMA), and whole-rock geochemistry indicate that 12.32–44.06% (average 24.95%) vanadium exists in mannardite. Most vanadium atoms in mannardite occupy its structural sites as trivalent vanadium (V3+), forming chemical bonds with O atoms as V O 2 − , whereas a minor amount of vanadium atoms replace titanite atoms (Ti4+) as quadrivalent vanadium (V4+) by isomorphism. Mannardite precipitates under a strong reductive condition with sufficient trivalent vanadium species, titanium and biogenic barium (bio-barite). Our first identification of mannardite in black shale-hosted vanadium deposits thus sheds light on the occurrence mode of vanadium and the metallogenic mechanism of black shale-hosted vanadium deposits. The first data on the composition of rocks and precious metals in the Vasilinovskoe copper–gold–platinoid ore occurrence, new in the Polar Urals, localized in metagabbro and metapyroxenite of the Late Ordovician Kershor Complex, are presented. Rocks containing a productive gold–platinoid mineralization are confined to hydrothermal alteration zones and are mainly represented by apogabbro and apopyroxenite propylites. The propylite formation temperature obtained with the help of pyrite–pyrrhotite and chlorite geothermometers corresponds to albite–calcite–chlorite and epidote–chlorite facies and varies within 200–310°C. The ore groundmass is composed of pyrite, chalcopyrite, and magnetite. Pyrrhotite, sphalerite, cobaltite, zinc greenockite, galena, ilmenite, titanite, rutile, cinnabar, native tin, molybdenite, coloradoite, supergene minerals such as bornite and covellite, chalcocite–spionkopite minerals, malachite, azurite, and iron hydroxides are minor. The precious metal mineralization is represented by Hg-bearing gold (including Hg-electrum and Hg-küstelite), gold and silver sulfides and tellurides (sylvanite (AuAgTe4), petzite (Ag3AuTe2), acanthite (Ag2S), hessite (Ag2Te), temagamite (Pd3HgTe3), and isomorphic series minerals such as merenskyite–moncheite (PdTe2-Pt,Pd)(Te,Bi)2), stibiopalladinite (Pd5Sb2), kotulskite (PdTe), sperrylite (PtAs2), and sopcheite (Ag4Pd3Te4), intergrowths of platinoids and an unknown mineral with an idealized formula Pd(Sb,Te), and possibly a Te-rich variety of sudburyite (PdSb). According to the mineralogical data, precious metals are released after a sample is crushed to a dimension of –0.25 mm. Relatively large (<0.15 mm) gold grains are separated first, then, during the crushing of sulfides, smaller gold flakes and precious metal grains are separated. The Miocene volcanic-intrusive complex in the Slovenský Raj Mountains, middle Slovakia, comprises a swarm of subalkaline basalts and basaltic andesites with alkaline basalts, trachybasalts and basaltic trachyandesites. Basaltic to doleritic feeder dykes and sporadic hyaloclastite lavas are exposed in contact with the Triassic Bódvaszilas Formation of the Silica Nappe. The primary clinopyroxene, plagioclase, and Fe-Ti oxide assemblage also contains calcite spheroids inferred to represent carbonatitic melt. These spheroids are associated with subsolidus chlorite, actinolite, magnetite, titanite, calcite, and epidote. Micropoikilitic clinopyroxene, albite, and Ti-magnetite formed due to rapid quenching. There was an incorporation of host rock carbonate during the eruption. The erupted products are the result of magmatic differentiation of the parental basaltic tholeiitic magma with a redox of ∆QFM = +1 to +3, affected by varying degrees of 0%–50% fractionation and the assimilation of carbonate material in a shallow magmatic reservoir. REE geochemistry shows N-MORB-like type patterns with both LaN/YbN and LaN/SmN < 1 at near constant Eu/Eu* (~0.9). This is supported by εNd(t=13 Ma) values of +8.0 to +7.4 determined from the basaltic rocks. The REE values can be modeled by 1% fractional melting of garnet peridotite mixed with 7% melting of spinel peridotite of PM composition (1:9 proportions). SIMS and LA-ICP-MS U/Pb analysis of zircons yields a concordant age of 12.69 ± 0.24 Ma and a 13.3 ± 0.16 Ma intercept (Serravallian) age. The Middle Miocene volcanic activity was related to subduction-collision processes along the boundary of the Cenozoic ALCAPA (Alps–Carpathians–Pannonia) microplate and the southern margin of the European plate. An in situ electron microprobe study of detrital minerals yielded important insights into the diagenetic history of the Cretaceous-to-Paleogene flysch sandstones from the Chvalčov site, Rača Unit, Flysch Belt of the Outer Western Carpathians. Detrital titanite and a Fe-Ti mineral (probably ilmenite) were almost completely altered to TiO2 minerals, which also newly crystallized in intergranular spaces of sandstone. Brookite, anatase, and, exceptionally, rutile were identified by Raman spectroscopy. Authigenic TiO2 phases show complex composition with occasionally elevated contents of Fe, Nb, Zr, V, Sc, Cr, Al, Y, and/or P, which were likely sourced from altered neighboring heavy minerals. In addition, rare authigenic LREE- and Y-enriched apatite rims were observed on detrital apatite. The remobilization of REE, Y, and HFSE was likely mediated by acidic early diagenetic fluids enriched in fluoride and sulfate anions. The superimposed formation of calcite cement was associated with the dissolution of detrital garnet, feldspars, and quartz. The compositions of detrital apatite and garnet (Alm60-82Prp4-30Sps0-24Grs0-19) are comparable with those from adjacent parts of the Flysch Belt. Detrital rutile is enriched in Nb, V, Cr, and Zr. Our study illustrates the intensity of diagenetic alteration of detrital minerals in flysch sandstones as well as the usefulness of in-situ electron-microprobe investigations for the recognition of processes influencing heavy minerals in diagenetically altered sediments. Titanite is a widespread accessory mineral in igneous, metamorphic, and hydrothermal rocks, but few comply with gem-grade requirements. Previous studies on Moroccan titanite focused on elementary composition and U-Pb dating. In this study, two gem-grade titanites (MA-1 and MA-2) from the Moroccan Central High Atlas were investigated through gemological and chemical studies, including infrared spectrum, Raman spectrum, SEM-EDS, and LA-ICP-MS. Two titanite samples are yellow, transparent–translucent with a greasy luster, 3.5 and 2.5 mm long. MA-1 and MA-2 have similar gemological properties, the refractive index (RI) is beyond the range of the refractometer (>1.78), the specific gravity (SG) values fall in the range of 3.52~3.54 and both are inert to short-wave and long-wave UV radiation. The spectral characteristics have high consistency with the RRUFF database. The major elements' composition shows a negative correlation between Al, Fe, V, and Ti, suggesting the titanites underwent substitutions such as (Al, Fe3+) + (F, OH) ↔ Ti + O. The titanite samples, characterized by a low abundance of REE (802~4088 ppm) and enriched in LREE, exhibit positive Eu (δEu: 1.53~7.79) and Ce (δCe: 1.08~1.33) anomalies, indicating their formation in a hydrothermal environment with low oxygen fugacity. The 238U/206Pb and 207Pb/206Pb ratios of the titanites yield lower intercept ages of 152.6 ± 2.2 and 151.4 ± 5.3 Ma (1s), consistent with their weighted average 206Pb/238U ages of 152.3 ± 2.0 and 150.7 ± 3.2 Ma (1s) respectively. The results of U-Pb dating are matched with the second main magmatic activities in the High Atlas intracontinental belt of Morocco during the Mesozoic to Cenozoic period. Moreover, the two titanite samples have almost no radiational damage. All the results show that the titanite from High Atlas, Morocco, has the potential to be a reference material for LA-ICP-MS U–Pb dating, but further experiments are needed to be sure. The new mineral pilanesbergite, with the ideal formula Na 2 Ca 2 Fe 2 Ti 2 (Si 2 O 7) 2 O 2 F 2 , was found in a nepheline syenite, locally known as green foyaite, from the Pilanesberg Complex located in the North West Province of South Africa. Pilanesbergite occurs in green foyaite in association, and partly intergrown, with aegirine. The two minerals share an assemblage of inclusions, comprising euhedral nepheline, titanite and minor sodalite. Pilanesbergite belongs to the wöhlerite group and is isomorphic with låvenite, normandite and madeiraite. It is related to these species through the homovalent chemical substitutions Mn2+↔Fe2+ and Zr4+↔Ti4+. The empirical formula calculated on the basis of 18 anions is Na 2.00 (Ca 1.74 Na 0.26) Σ2.00 (Fe 1.00 Mn 0.52 Ca 0.49 Zr 0.05) Σ2.06 (Ti 1.69 Zr 0.14 Mg 0.09 Nb 0.08) Σ2.00 (Si 2 O 7) 2.00 O 1.84 F 2.16 (Z=2). The new mineral is translucent with a brown orange colour and a brownish streak. The Mohs hardness is estimated between 5 and 6 by comparison with låvenite, and no cleavage is observed. Measured and calculated densities are Dmeas=3.47 g cm -3 and Dcalc=3.40 g cm -3. In the thin section the pleochroism is strong, between straw yellow and orange red, while in immersion the strong pleochroism is observed between light yellow (α) and yellowish orange (γ). The crystals are optically biaxial (+) with α=1.743(3) , β=1.768(3) , γ=1.795(5) and a 2 V angle close to 90 ∘. The crystal structure is monoclinic (P 2 1 / a), with the unit-cell parameters a=10.7811(2) , b=9.7836(1) , c=7.0348(1) Å, β=108.072(2) ∘ and V=705.41(2) Å 3 , and has been refined to R1=2.06 %. The strongest lines of the powder X-ray diffraction pattern [ d , Å (I , %) (h k l)] are 3.219 (60) (310), 2.851 (100) (12-2), 2.802 (51) (320), 2.743 (27) (22-2), 2.423 (19) (40-2) and 1.723 (19) (44-2). Pilanesbergite formed under relatively reducing conditions from an agpaitic nepheline syenite magma that had evolved by fractional crystallization mainly of aegirine. Further crystallization of arfvedsonite caused an increase in oxygen fugacity and a change towards higher Mn/Mn+Fe of the magma, causing a change of mineral composition from pilanesbergite towards normandite. The link between subduction and continental exhumation is explored using high‐resolution thermal histories from southern Great Xing'an Range (GXR), NE Asia and integrated with a regional low‐temperature thermochronology data synthesis from the NE Asian continental margin. The GXR thermal histories are constrained by multiple thermo‐, geochronometers (zircon, titanite, apatite U‐Pb, zircon, apatite (U‐Th)/He and apatite fission track). These data yield a large range in U‐Pb ages (292–119 Ma) with enhanced exhumation mainly during the early Cretaceous (ca. 155–110 Ma) in an extensional regime linked to roll‐back of the Paleo‐Pacific Ocean and consequent lithospheric thinning and delamination. Integrated with Cretaceous‐Cenozoic low‐temperature thermochronological data from the NE Asian continent margin, three regional phases of exhumation are recognized, which can be linked to changes in the geometry and kinematics of the subduction systems of the Paleo‐Pacific and Pacific oceans, demonstrating coupling between the subducting plate and the continental margin at active plate boundaries. Plain Language Summary: Thermochronological data sets enable orogen‐scale investigations into the spatio‐temporal patterns of exhumation on continental margins, and provide additional constraints on how the tectonic evolution of the crust is controlled by subduction. We employ geochronology (zircon U‐Pb), low‐temperature thermochronology (zircon, apatite (U‐Th)/He) and medium‐high temperature thermochronology (titanite, apatite U‐Pb) data to model the thermal evolution histories of the southernmost segment of the GXR in NE China. The inverse modeling results show rapid cooling and exhumation from ca. 155–110 Ma. This coincides with the initiation of slab roll‐back of the Paleo‐Pacific Ocean in NE Asia, which was responsible for cooling and exhumation in an extensional regime. In addition, we compile the available low‐temperature thermochronology data (zircon, apatite fission track and (U‐Th)/He) from the NE Asian continental margin from Late Cretaceous (ca. 110 Ma) to constrain regional exhumation events. These data show three main exhumation phases from the Late Cretaceous onwards. Combined with the data on the regional evolution of magmatism, sedimentary basins and deformation, the three exhumation phases can be linked to changes in the geometry of the Paleo‐Pacific ocean and Pacific ocean plates in NE Asia, thus showing coupling between continental exhumation and subduction. In this manuscript, we report a rare occurrence of rod-like intergrowths of clinopyroxene-ilmenite that variably replace titanite in a suite of high-pressure mafic granulites from the Chotanagpur Granite Gneissic Complex, Eastern Indian Shield. Garnet proximal to the clinopyroxene-ilmenite intergrowth is invariably replaced with symplectic clinopyroxene-plagioclase or a rind of plagioclase. Textural modeling of the reaction textures and mineral compositions suggests that the garnet-titanite became unstable and the ilmenite-clinopyroxene preferentially develop after titanite. The presence and texture of halogen rich apatites within the ilmenite-clinopyroxene symplectite are consistent with a fluid mediated process. Thermodynamic modeling in the NCFMAST (+H2O) system, demonstrates that the clinopyroxene-ilmenite symplectite was formed along a steeply decompressive retrograde P-T path (from ~13 to ~7 kbar, at ~800 °C), in the presence of partial melts. The study demonstrates that relative to Fe, Mg, and Ca, Ti was less mobile and that the mobility of Ti was restricted within the confines of titanite being replaced by the clinopyroxene-ilmenite symplectite. Ion-adsorption rare earth element (REE) deposits in South China are currently the main source of heavy rare earth elements (HREE). The Gucheng deposit in western Guangdong Province is one example of HREE mineralization hosted in weathered coarse-grained biotite granites (CGBG). Titanite is a common accessory mineral in the CGBG and contains significant amounts of total REE (31 621 to 38 431 ppm), especially HREE (18 906 to 22 249 ppm). Titanite with a U-Pb age of 102.6 ± 1.9 Ma in the CGBG crystallized under relatively high temperatures (722–798 °C), high f H 2 O , and high f O 2 conditions in the late magmatic stage, and has similar Nd isotopic compositions similar to the host CGBG: 143Nd/144Nd = 0.512062 to 0.512125 and εNd(t) = –7.4 to –8.6. Backscattered electron (BSE) imaging and TESCAN integrated mineral analyzer (TIMA) measurements show that titanite in the CGBG has been altered partly to fergusonite-(Y), rutile, calcite, quartz, and fluorite. The hydrothermal fluid responsible for titanite alteration was enriched in C O 3 2 − and F, and was probably exsolved from the granitic magma. HREE released from the alteration of titanite were mostly scavenged by fergusonite-(Y) and rutile, which have been further replaced by gadolinite-(Y) and synchysite-(Ce). In addition, gadolinite-(Y) in the alteration assemblages exhibits further alteration and is characterized by elevated P O 4 3 − a n d S O 4 2 − contents in the altered parts. These results demonstrate that magmatic titanite in the CGBG underwent complex hydrothermal alteration, with a preferential accumulation of HREE in fergosnite-(Y) and gadolinite-(Y) in the alteration assemblages. Central Dronning Maud Land (cDML) is part of the late Mesoproterozoic Maud Belt in East Antarctica, which was metamorphosed and deformed during the Ediacaran–Cambrian Gondwana assembly. Here we study high-pressure (HP) mafic rocks in Gjelsvikfjella, cDML, which occur as lenses and pods transposed in highly strained, upper amphibolite-facies gneisses. We present a P – T – t history for the HP rocks based on mineral assemblages, reaction textures and new U–Pb zircon data. Relics that indicate an early HP granulite-facies stage have been identified in anhydrous garnet–clinopyroxene rocks. The peak-pressure assemblage was plagioclase-free and contained garnet, titanite, clinopyroxene and quartz. The HP assemblage has been extensively overprinted by lower-pressure phases and exhibits a variety of symplectite and corona textures that record the post-peak-pressure evolution of the rocks. Decompression and heating in the granulite-facies field resulted in the replacement of titanite by ilmenite–clinopyroxene symplectite, formation of clinopyroxene–plagioclase intergrowths and resorption of garnet by plagioclase–clinopyroxene kelyphite. Formation of late orthopyroxene in symplectites and kelyphites demonstrates that the P – T evolution entered the medium-pressure granulite-facies field. The peak metamorphic stage was followed by retrograde cooling into the amphibolite facies. In situ laser ablation inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (LA-ICP-MS) U–Pb dating of zircons indicate Mesoproterozoic protolith ages (1150–1000 Ma) and Ediacaran–Cambrian metamorphic reworking at ca. 568 and ca. 514 Ma. The HP granulites were formed and exhumed during a clockwise P – T evolution related to continental collision during Gondwana amalgamation, followed by post-collisional extension and orogenic collapse. The north‐dipping Hout River Shear Zone (HRSZ), which marks the boundary between the high‐grade Limpopo Complex in its hanging wall and the low‐grade granite‐greenstone terrane of the Kaapvaal Craton in South Africa in its footwall, is a deep‐crustal shear zone that controlled emplacement of hot Limpopo Complex granulites over and against low‐grade granite‐greenstones during exhumation at ~2.72–2.62 Ga. This major shear zone controlled migration of large volumes of hydrous fluids released during devolatilization of underthrusted greenstones that infiltrated into hot overlying granulites, establishing a retrograde anthophyllite‐in isograd and associated zone of retrograde rehydrated granulite that bounds the Limpopo Complex in the south. Here, we report new petrological data based on mineral equilibrium modelling of amphibolites from the Rhenosterkoppies Greenstone Belt (RGB) located in the immediate footwall of the HRSZ and discuss evidence that these rocks also interacted with high‐temperature fluids that infiltrated along the HRSZ. This study provides an important perspective of the interaction of hot granulites with underthrusted relatively cold greenschist‐facies rocks along the steeply north‐dipping section of the HRSZ, and shows that evidence for such interaction is restricted to a relatively narrow zone in the footwall of the HRSZ termed a hot‐iron‐zone. The peak mineral assemblage of a garnet‐free amphibolite from the RGB (magnesio‐hornblende + plagioclase + quartz + clinopyroxene + titanite + ilmenite) yielded the peak P–T condition of 7–8 kbar and 640–680°C with H2O content of 3.5–3.8 mol%. Clinopyroxene is replaced by actinolite + quartz and epidote + quartz symplectites by a post‐peak hydration event at <5 kbar and <590°C caused by elevated H2O content in the rock (>4.0 mol%), possibly related to fluid infiltration along the HRSZ. Mineral equilibria in a garnet‐bearing amphibolite records a prograde path from 5 to 7 kbar and 540–630°C to the peak conditions at 7.6–8.7 kbar and 620–650°C. A clockwise P–T path suggesting rapid compression and decompression has been inferred for the amphibolites from the RGB, possibly because of pressure increase related to overthrusting of the high‐grade terrane (Southern Marginal Zone of the Limpopo Complex) onto the low‐grade granite‐greenstone terrane, followed by rapid exhumation. The quantity of H2O associated with the amphibolite‐facies metamorphism in the RGB was elevated from the peak stage (M(H2O) = 3.5–3.8 mol%) to the retrograde stage (M(H2O) = 4.0–4.5 mol%) of metamorphism in the RGB, possibly suggesting fluid infiltration not only from internal sources but also from external sources. The results of this study indicate that a H2O‐bearing fluid, which infiltrated along the HRSZ, affected both the footwall and the hanging wall sections of the shear zone, although the effect on the footwall section was limited. The regolith-hosted rare earth element (REE) deposits in the Nanling Mountain Range, South China, are the most important source of heavy REE (HREE) in the world. A perplexing thing is that only a few of these deposits are relatively enriched in HREE and most of them are actually light REE (LREE)-enriched, although they are all originated from the granitic bedrocks with similar HREE concentrations. This is supposed to be related to the redistribution of REE in the weathered bedrocks due to groundwater-rock interaction, however, it remains enigmatic how REEs are mobilized and fractionated in the interaction. Titanite is an important REE contributor to the regolith-hosted REE deposit. Here, we investigate textural and compositional variations of the titanite from the granitic bedrocks to weathered profiles in the Zuokeng regolith-hosted REE deposit, the largest one that is newly discovered in this region. Together with thermodynamic modelling, we deduce the nature of the fluids, temperature range for titanite alteration, and the mechanism of REE fractionation. Primary titanite is of magmatic in origin and shows relatively high REE contents and negative Eu anomaly on the chondrite-normalized REE pattern. Secondary titanite is commonly associated with chloritized biotite and is characterized by extremely low REE, high Al2O3, F and significant positive Eu anomaly, typical of authigenic origin due to chloritization of biotite under oxidized conditions in supergene environment. From the bedrocks upward to the surface, primary titanite is gradually replaced by calcite, synchysite-(Ce) and TiO2 in the weathered bedrocks. This is interpreted as the result of infiltration of the F, carbonate-rich, alkaline fluids derived from local groundwater through the bedrocks. The irregular dark patches in primary titanite display typical alteration texture and may have formed through fluid leaching of primary titanite. The patches in primary titanite have lower REE concentrations and higher LREE/HREE ratios than magmatic domains, indicating that the groundwater preferentially scavenges HREE from primary titanite, leaving behind LREE in weatherable secondary minerals, such as synchysite-(Ce) and allanite. Mass balance calculation results also confirm that more HREE are lost from weathered bedrocks than LREE. Therefore, the interaction of groundwater and granitic bedrocks may be favorable to enrich LREE rather than HREE in the regolith. This may explain why most regolith-hosted REE deposits like Zuokeng in South China are of predominant in LREE. Argyle is the world's largest source of natural diamonds, yet one of only a few economic deposits hosted in a Paleoproterozoic orogen. The geodynamic triggers responsible for its alkaline ultramafic volcanic host are unknown. Here we show, using U-Pb and (U-Th)/He geochronology of detrital apatite and detrital zircon, and U-Pb dating of hydrothermal titanite, that emplacement of the Argyle lamproite is bracketed between 1311 ± 9 Ma and 1257 ± 15 Ma (2σ), older than previously known. To form the Argyle lamproite diatreme complex, emplacement was likely driven by lithospheric extension related to the breakup of the supercontinent Nuna. Extension facilitated production of low-degree partial melts and their migration through transcrustal corridors in the Paleoproterozoic Halls Creek Orogen, a rheologically-weak rift zone adjacent to the Kimberley Craton. Diamondiferous diatreme emplacement during (super)continental breakup may be prevalent but hitherto under-recognized in rift zones at the edges of ancient continental blocks. The Argyle deposit erupted 1.3 billion years ago into an ancient rift at the edge of a craton. Rutile, an abundant mineral phase of high-grade rocks, is used as a tracer of lithospheric evolution for deep zones of orogenic belts. This study presents new ID-TIMS U–Pb geochronological, mineralogical, and geochemical data for rutile from eclogites of the North Muya block (Baikal–Muya fold belt) in order to examine the applicability of its age estimates relative to the exhumation process of high-grade rocks. The assemblage of mineral inclusions in rutile (mainly titanite, epidote, and amphibole) indicate rutile growth through titanite breakdown reactions during prograde metamorphism epidote–amphibolite or amphibolite–facies rocks. The range of Zr contents and estimated Zr-in-rutile crystallization temperatures correspond to conditions from prograde (619–638°С at 1.5 GPa) up to peak ones (659–684°С for 2.5 GPa). The U–Pb age estimate (605 Ma) is notably younger than that of peak eclogitic metamorphism (630 Ma) and highlight the protracted cooling history of the eclogite-bearing complex during its evolution below the closure temperature of the U–Pb isotope system in rutile (~500–525°С) during tectonic denudation or erosion of continental complexes. Rare earth elements (REE) are indispensable for industries such as magnetic, phosphorus, metal alloys, catalysts, ceramics, glass, polishing and defense systems due to their unique physical and chemical properties. Currently, China is the largest supplier in the world, accounting for production of more than 95% of the world's rare earth oxides (REO). To reduce the influence of China on the REE market, some countries have started to develop their own national strategies for the production and use of REE-bearing resources. Within the scope of this study, particle size, chemical, MLA, XRD, and SEM-EDS analysis were performed for material characterization, and shaking table, centrifugal, and magnetic separations were carried out for the beneficiation of Malatya/Kuluncak rare earth ore. The XRD analysis indicated that the representative sample consisted of major minerals such as albite, calcite, montmorillonite, muscovite, titanite, kaolinite, clinochlore, and aegirine. Parisite, bastnaesite, Zr-REE-Silicate, Fe-REE-Oxide, and Ca-Ti-Nb-REE-Oxide were detected as REE-bearing minerals by MLA. The chemical analysis resulted in a ∑REO grade of 3628 g/t, and the ore consisted mostly of light REEs. According to the results of the gravity separation for the coarsest fraction, about 11.3% by weight of the total feed was concentrated as a heavy product with 6437 g/t ∑REO content. As a result of magnetic separation, magnetic products with 5561 g/t and 6013 g/t ∑REO were obtained as coarse and fine fractions, respectively. Finally, the characterization studies and enrichment results were correlated, and very important and meaningful indications about the behavior of REE-bearing minerals were obtained. The formation of metamorphic zircon after baddeleyite is a well-known reaction that can be used to date the metamorphism of igneous silica-undersaturated rocks. By contrast, metamorphic minerals formed after igneous zirconolite have rarely been reported. In this paper, we document metamorphic titanite + zircon pseudomorphs formed from the metamorphic breakdown of igneous zirconolite in syenodiorite and syenite, in the southeastern Sveconorwegian Province, Sweden. Water-rich fluid influx during tectonometamorphism in epidote–amphibolite-facies metamorphic conditions caused the release of silica during a metamorphic reaction involving igneous feldspar and pyroxene and the simultaneous breakdown of igneous Zr-bearing phases. Typical titanite + zircon intergrowths are elongated or platy titanite crystals speckled with tiny inclusions of zircon. Most intergrowths are smaller than 15 µ m; some are subrounded in shape. Locally, bead-like grains of titanite and zircon are intergrown with silicate minerals. The precursor igneous zirconolite was found preserved only in a sample of near-pristine igneous syenodiorite, as remnant grains of mainly < 2 µ m in size. Two somewhat larger crystals, 8 and 12 µ m, allowed semiquantitative confirmation using microprobe analysis. Analogous with zircon pseudomorphs after baddeleyite, titanite + zircon pseudomorphs after zirconolite potentially offer dating of the metamorphic reaction, although the small size of the crystals makes dating with today's techniques challenging. Although the evolution of residual melts in magmatic systems controls their eruptability and ore-forming potential, their compositions are obscured in plutonic rocks by a protracted near-solidus evolution and the absence of interstitial glass. Here, we trace the evolution of residual melt compositions in rocks from the Strontian Intrusive Complex, Scotland, using the trace element chemistry of amphiboles, and titanites which are intergrown with amphibole rims. Laser ablation mapping reveals an abrupt change in certain trace elements in the amphibole rims, with sharp increases in Eu/Eu* and Sr/Y, and decreases in rare earth elements, Ta, Nb, and Ta/Nb ratios. Core-rim variations in these elements in titanite show the same variations as in amphibole, but are more gradual. By reconstructing the crystallisation sequence of the Strontian magmas using textural observations and thermobarometric estimates, we determine that amphibole cores crystallised prior to titanite saturation, but amphibole rims crystallised simultaneously with titanite. Using the trace element composition of the mineral phases and their modal abundance in the rock, with comparison to the whole-rock chemistry, we determine that titanite hosts the majority of the rare earth and high field strength element budget of the rocks. We therefore propose that the onset of titanite crystallisation had a profound effect on the trace element composition of late-stage residual melts at Strontian, which were inherited by the amphibole rims and subsequent titanites. This is supported by Rayleigh fractional crystallisation modelling, which demonstrates that the composition of amphibole rims cannot be explained without the influence of titanite. We therefore show that the saturation of trace element-rich phases in magmas represents a significant geochemical event in the petrogenesis of intermediate to silicic magmas. This has implications for provenance studies that attempt to reconstruct bulk rock compositions from mineral compositions, as the residual melts from which those minerals crystallise can be driven to significantly different compositions from the host magma by late-stage accessory phase crystallisation. Rutile, titanite, and ilmenite are the most common Ti-bearing minerals in metamorphic rocks. Experimental constraints have shown that titanite is stable at low-grade metamorphic conditions, rutile at high pressure (HP), and ilmenite at high temperature, low pressure (HT-LP) conditions. Yet, petrological evidence suggests that titanite can also be stable at low temperature, HP (LT-HP). This implies that both titanite and rutile can be used to develop proxies to track HP metamorphism, which can have interesting applications. In this study, we have investigated the natural occurrence and chemistry of Ti-bearing minerals in gabbroic rocks and basalts that record different degrees of metamorphism, including LP amphibole-bearing gabbros from the ocean floor (Mid-Atlantic and Indian ridge IODP LEGs) and from an obducted ophiolite (Chenaillet) and HP Alpine metagabbros and metabasalts, including blueschist and eclogite facies rocks from the Western Alps and Corsica. We have performed detailed petrography, Raman spectroscopy and analyzed major and trace elements mineral chemistry using EPMA and LA-ICPMS. We found that rutile is stable at low pressure (< 2 kbar) in ocean-floor amphibole-bearing gabbros, lower than experimental constraints had previously suggested. Rutile is also found in eclogitic metagabbros from the Western Alps and can be chemically distinguished from LP rutile. Blueschist metagabbros from the Western Alps and eclogitic metabasalts from Corsica have titanite stable instead of rutile. While the titanite to rutile transition is pressure- and temperature-dependent, we demonstrate how small variations in bulk-rock Ti/Ca and Ca/Al values within the NCKFMASHTO chemical system may shift their stabilities. High-pressure titanite from these metamafic rocks exhibits La depletion and low La/SmN values in comparison to titanite from amphibolite-facies mafic rocks. La/SmN or Nb together with Yb and V can be used to distinguish HP titanite from titanite formed under other P–T settings. To better understand the origin of the Andean iron oxide-apatite (IOA) deposits, we conducted a study on the geology and magnetite geochemistry of the Mariela IOA deposit in the Peruvian Iron Belt, central Andes. The Mariela deposit is hosted by gabbroic and dioritic intrusions. The major high-grade massive ores are primarily composed of magnetite and contain variable amounts of apatite and actinolite. Based on textural and geochemical characteristics, three different types of magnetite are recognized: Type I magnetite occurs in the massive magnetite ore, subclassified as inclusion-rich (I-a), inclusion-free (I-b), and mosaic (I-c); Type II magnetite is associated with abundant actinolite and titanite; and Type III magnetite is disseminated in altered host rocks. However, the magnetite geochemistry data for the Mariela deposit plot shows different genetic areas in [Ti + V] vs. [Al + Mn], Ti vs. V, and Fe vs. V/Ti discrimination diagrams, indicating a paradox of magmatic and hydrothermal origins. Our interpretation is as follows: Type I-a magnetite had an initial magmatic or high-temperature magmatic-hydrothermal origin, with slight modifications during transportation and subsequent hydrothermal precipitation (Types I-b and I-c). Type II magnetite is formed from hydrothermal fluid due to the presence of abundant actinolite. Disseminated magnetite (Type III) and veinlet-type magnetite formed after fluid replacement of the host rock. We stress that elemental discrimination diagrams should be combined with field studies and textural observations to provide a reasonable geological interpretation. A clear cooling trend is evident among the three subtypes of Type I magnetite (I-a, I-b, and I-c), as well as Type II and Type III magnetite, with average formative temperatures of 737 °C, 707 °C, 666 °C, 566 °C, and 493 °C, respectively. The microanalytical data on magnetite presented here support the magmatic-hydrothermal flotation model to explain the origin of IOA deposits in the Coastal Cordillera of Southern Peru. The Laramide orogeny is a pivotal time in the geological development of western North America, but its driving mechanism is controversial. Most prominent models suggest this event was caused by the collision of an oceanic plateau with the Southern California Batholith (SCB) which caused the angle of subduction beneath the continent to shallow and led to shut-down of the arc. Here, we use over 280 zircon and titanite Pb/U ages from the SCB to establish the timing and duration of magmatism, metamorphism and deformation. We show that magmatism was surging in the SCB from 90 to 70 Ma, the lower crust was hot, and cooling occurred after 75 Ma. These data contradict plateau underthrusting and flat-slab subduction as the driving mechanism for early Laramide deformation. We propose that the Laramide orogeny is a two-stage event consisting of: 1) an arc 'flare-up' phase in the SCB from 90-75 Ma; and 2) a widespread mountain building phase in the Laramide foreland belt from 75-50 Ma that is linked to subduction of an oceanic plateau. New and existing age data show active arc processes in Southern California during the beginning of the Laramide orogeny, which require a two-stage process and challenge the oceanic plateau collision paradigm. Nickel-zinc ferrite (NZF) discs and magnesium calcium titanite (MCT) dielectric ceramic discs were laminated and co-fired to prepare NZF/MCT bi-layer laminated heterostructure samples. The sintering shrinkage of NZF and MCT was matched well via adjusting the sintering temperature. Ion diffusion curves at the co-fired joint interface were derived by electron-probe microanalysis (EPMA) and fitted basing on infinite diffusion coupling model. Ion diffusion mechanism at the co-fired joint interface was investigated in detail. The results show that Zn2+ ions have the highest diffusion coefficient because of the smaller ion radius which is benefit for interstitial diffusion, while Ca2+ ions have the lowest diffusion coefficient and segregate along the interface of MCT side. Fe3+ ions have the biggest diffusion width because of the interstitial diffusion in the incompletely densified MCT. Sintered at 1260 °C, the maximum interdiffusion width is narrow to be about 102 μm. Hydrothermal rutile (TiO2) is a widely distributed accessory mineral in hydrothermal veins or alteration assemblages of porphyry deposits and provides important information for further understanding hydrothermal fluid signatures. This study determines the geochemical composition and U-Pb dates of hydrothermal rutile from the Yulong porphyry Cu-Mo deposit in east Tibet, China. Three types of TiO2 polymorphs have been identified based on their Raman spectroscopic, textural, and chemical characteristics. (1) Brookite and anatase pseudomorphs after titanite in a fine-grained matrix, indicating low-temperature hydrothermal fluids destabilizing primary Ti-bearing minerals during argillic alteration (type-I). (2) Elongated and prismatic rutile present in hydrothermal veins or in clusters in accompanying alteration envelope characterized by weak zoning (type-II). And (3) rutile intergrown with sulfides in hydrothermal veins, characterized by well-developed patchy and sector zoning (type-III). In contrast to the type-I and type-II TiO2 polymorphs, tungsten is enriched in backscattered bright patches and sector zones in type-III rutile, which is due to the substitution of W6+ in the Ti4+ octahedral site. The mechanism of the enrichment of tungsten is efectively driven by the halogen-rich (F, Cl) aqueous fluids during hydrothermal mineralization. In situ U-Pb dating of the type-III rutile yields a lower intercept age of 41.8 ± 1.2 Ma, which brackets the timing of the Cu-Mo mineralization. The relationship between rutile textures and composition indicates that W-bearing rutile can serve as a recorder of hydrothermal processes in porphyry Cu deposits. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Titanite CaTiO(SiO 4):Eu3+ were synthesized by a solvothermal-calcination method and an improved high-temperature solid-state synthesis method. Their structure, luminescence properties and photocatalytic propoties were comparatively studied in detail. It was found that CaTiO(SiO 4):Eu3+ synthesized by the two methods belong to two different types of crystalline and each of them has its own advantages and disadvantages. Titanite synthesized by solvothermal-calcination method has rough and porous surface morphology, larger BET, and smaller crystallite size, which result in a weaker luminescence intensity than the one synthesized by high-temperature solid-state method. But in the experiment of photocatalysis, all these disadvantages are turned into advantages. In addition, the high temperature process also increases the symmetry of Eu3+ occupation and leads to many surface traps, which result in a less red color and a shorter fluorescence life than solvothermal synthesized titanite. In the Republic of North Macedonia, the northern marginal part of the Pelagonian Unit comprises several isolated slivers of low-grade blueschist-facies rocks. These rocks were metamorphosed at conditions of the epidote-blueschist facies with rare transitions to the lawsonite-epidote blueschist facies. If present, lawsonite occurs as relic inclusions in albite, suggesting a local metasomatic enrichment of Na. No aragonite or fibrous calcite was detected, suggesting that the rocks were equilibrated at pressures below the aragonite-calcite boundary. When present, calcite + quartz coexist with glaucophane, epidote, and titanite suggesting the presence of a metamorphic H2O-rich fluid phase with very low X CO2 values (< 0.002). Most samples contain chlorite and only some have garnet, which is nearly free of Mg, but contains an andradite component. Albite only occurs in garnet-free rocks. A core-to-rim decrease of Fe3+/(Fe3++Al3++Cr + Mn3+) in epidote, VIFe3+/VI(Fe3++Al) in blue Na-rich amphibole, and Fe3+/(Fe2++Fe3+) in garnet grains suggest a decrease of ƒO2 during metamorphism. The general absence of magnetite and the presence of very small amounts of hematite in some samples suggest that the hematite–magnetite buffer curve was probably not crossed. It is thought that the investigated blueschist-facies rocks were part of the once highly oxidized sedimentary cover of the subducting oceanic plate. The underlying basaltic crust and oceanic mantle, however, were probably relatively reduced. Aqueous fluids which left this part of the lithosphere during subduction (dehydration) partially reduced the overlying oxidized metasediments. Concerning metamorphic P – T conditions, a pressure range of 0.7–0.9 GPa is defined by the presence of glaucophane + epidote + quartz at the lower boundary and the absence of aragonite at the higher boundary. The temperature range of 320–420°C is defined by the absence of Fe-Mg-pumpellyite at the lower side and the presence of lawsonite + albite at the higher side. These conditions can be narrowed down by using calculated equilibrium mineral assemblage diagrams (pseudosections) for three different bulk-rock compositions, resulting in P  = 0.74–0.85 GPa and T  = 340–370°C. It must, however, be emphasized that many phases (garnet, glaucophane, epidote, and phengite) show significant chemical zonation, which makes the use of pseudosections problematic. Gabal El-Ineigi fluorite-bearing rare-metal granite with A-type affinity, located in the Central Eastern Desert of Egypt, is distinguished by its abundance of large fluorite-quartz veins and mafic enclaves. Plagioclase (labradorite to oligoclase), Mg-rich biotite, and Mg-rich hornblende are the main components of mafic enclaves, with significant amounts of fluorite as essential phases, and titanite and Fe-Ti oxides (Nb-free rutile and ilmenite-rutile solid solution) as the main accessories. These enclaves are monzodioritic in composition, Si-poor, and highly enriched in Ca, Fe, Mg, and F compared to the host alkali feldspar F-poor Si-rich granites. Given the conflicting evidence for a restitic, xenolithic, magma mixing/mingling, cumulate, or bimodal origin for these enclaves, we propose that the mafic enclaves and felsic host granites are two conjugate liquids, with contrasting compositions, of a single parental melt. This is inferred by the normalized REE patterns that are similar. As a result, liquid immiscibility is proposed as a probable explanation for this mafic–felsic rock association. These enclaves can be interpreted as transient melt phases between pure silicate and calcium-fluoride melts that are preserved from the early stages of separation before evolving into a pure fluoride (Ca-F) melt during magma evolution. Due to element partitioning related to melt unmixing, the enclaves are preferentially enriched in Ca, F, Li, Y, and REE and depleted in HFSE (such as Zr, U, Th, Ta, Nb, Hf, and Ga) in comparison to the host granites. Furthermore, mafic enclaves exhibit W-type tetrad effects, while host granites exhibit M-type tetrad effects, implying that the REE partitioning, caused by liquid immiscibility, is complementary. Transitional boundaries of the craton and mobile belt mark diverse and long‐term tectono‐thermal events like hot and cold lithospheric contact, back‐arc‐type subduction, and also constitute a favourable locale for metallogeny. The exact nature and origin of such metallogenic enrichment in the lithospheric mantle source beneath contact zones are still uncertain. The contact of Bastar Craton and the Eastern Ghat Mobile Belt (EGMB), India, provides an ideal geological setup to study the metallogenic enrichment processes. In this study, we present a detailed petrographic and mineralogical investigation of various iron oxide phases and titanites in spatially and temporally distinct lamprophyre and mafic dykes from the diamondiferous Nuapada Lamproite Field (NLF) at the contact between Bastar Craton and EGMB. Diverse textural assemblages of oxides, namely, trellis, sandwich‐type exsolutions and reaction–replacement, are widespread. Ilmenites, magnetites and titanites from the mafic dykes as well as lamprophyre exhibit an anomalous enrichment of vanadium (V2O3 up to 3.7 wt%), whereas ilmenites are also characterized by their elevated manganese content (MnO up to 3.8 wt%). Mineral chemistry‐based plots and thermo‐oximetric studies suggest the magmatic origin of iron oxides belonging to the Fe–Ti–V‐type ore in which partitioning and sequestration of the elements were controlled by differential crystallization, exsolution and fractionation rather than any imprints of contamination. Multiphase sequestration of vanadium as well as manganese in lamprophyre and mafic dykes, separated in space as well in relative depths of origin, signifies the presence of a fertile mantle. The role of subduction‐derived metasomatized fluids as a causative factor of vanadium metallogeny in this domain is evaluated. Petrological modeling and geochronology (Lu–Hf garnet, U–Pb monazite, zircon, and titanite) for seven mid-amphibolite to granulite-facies metamorphic rocks in the Thelon tectonic zone (Ttz) provide new insights into the evolution of this orogen. A Grt-Sp-Sil diatexite records 2.01–2.00 Ga garnet and monazite growth during >830 °C contact metamorphism associated with voluminous convergent margin plutonism. The most widespread, 1.96–1.90 Ga metamorphism is associated with clockwise pressure (P)–temperature (T) paths, indicating it was driven by crustal thickening. Earlier (1.96–1.92 Ga) and lower temperature (630 °C–730 °C; 6–8 kbar) metamorphism in the eastern Slave craton contrast with ∼860 °C (7.5 kbar), 1.91–1.90 Ga diatexites in the central, Paleoproterozoic plutonic rock-dominated, core of the Ttz. These differences are interpreted to reflect lower vs. upper plate settings, respectively. A contribution of mantle heat is suggested by the counter-clockwise P–T path and 885 °C (5.7 kbar) conditions recorded by diatexite associated with c. 1.9 Ga peraluminous leucogranite that dominates a corridor along the Ttz–Rae craton boundary. A tectonic model is proposed wherein the Ttz evolved at an accretionary margin after rifting of Ttz microcontinent (mTtz) off the Rae craton at c. 2.2–2.1 Ga. Voluminous plutonism at 2.01–1.98 Ga formed via east-dipping subduction under mTtz. Following 1.97 Ga collision of the Slave craton and mTtz, west-dipping subduction generated 1.96–1.95 Ga plutonism in the composite mTtz-Slave upper plate. Collision of Rae craton at 1.95–1.94 Ga led to crustal thickening, widespread 1.91–1.90 Ga high-grade metamorphism and extensive crustal melting in the central Ttz. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The current study analyzed and interpreted airborne radiometric data from Ilesha's basement complex rock and its surroundings. At the surface, the concentrations of the most frequent primordial radionuclides notably K, elemental concentration of uranium eU, and elemental concentration of thorium eTh were measured. The weighted mean elemental and activity concentrations were 0.85%, 2.75 ppm, 10.22 ppm, and 267.54 Bq kg−1, 34.41 Bq kg−1, 41.51 Bq kg−1 for 40 K, 238U, and 232Th, respectively. The low concentration of 40 K was certainly due to the effects of weathering, kaolinization of granites, and pedogenesis activities. The abundance of uranium was ascribed to the availability of uranium minerals such as allanite, apatite, and sphene with accessories minerals, while that of thorium was due to minerals such as cheralite, thorite, uranothorite, thorianite, and uranothorianite with accessories minerals. The RPHR weighted mean 1.48 µWm−3 compared to the earth's crust mean between 0.8 and1.2 µWm−3 was higher due to significant presence of gneiss rocks in all the studied profiles. Radiological hazard, in particular, dose rates, external hazard index, internal hazard index, radium equivalent, annual gonadal dose, effective dose dispensed to various organs of the body were computed to determine the deleterious effects of rocks in the area. The weighted means of annual gonadal dose of 363.98 µSv y−1 and outdoor 0.91 × 10×3 and indoor 1.65 × 10−3 excessive life cancer risks were more than the global average 300 µSv y−1, 0.29 × 10−3 and 1.16 × 10−3.
