Low-lying excited states of 104Pd were investigated by means of Coulomb excitation using the 32S beam. Gamma-ray spectra resulting from the deexcitation of these levels were measured with the EAGLE gamma-ray spectrometer at the Heavy Ion Laboratory, University ofWarsaw. The first three excited states above the ground state up to 6+ level were populated alongwith the low-lying non-yrast states. Excitation of the 3- state at 2194 keV energy was also observed. The delayed coincidence method with special reference to the in-beam experiments is considered as a means of identification and the lifetime measurements of isomeric states, as well as, the method of the investigation of radiations populating isomeric states. Isomers are detected and correlated with prompt events if they occur within a certain time of the prompt event. The 16O +208Pb reaction was investigated using the OSIRIS-II and the EAGLE arrays at HIL-UW. About eighty nuclei were identified as fission fragments among the reaction products. Several known isomeric transitions associated with reaction products in neutron-rich nuclei region were detected, as well as some new candidates were observed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Electromagnetic transition strengths and spectroscopic quadrupole moments for 140Sm were measured by means of multi-step Coulomb excitation with radioactive beam at the ISOLDE facility at CERN. A complementary experiment was performed at the Heavy Ion Laboratory inWarsaw to assign spins for non-yrast states using the angular correlation technique. The spontaneous chiral symmetry breaking was experimentally studied at the Heavy Ion Laboratory of the University of Warsaw by use of the DSAM and DCO analysis. Obtained lifetimes, branching ratios and E2/M1 mixing ratios were used to determine B(M1) and B(E2) values. The 134Nd required for studies of the violation of the K selection rule for electromagnetic transitions in nuclei with mass numbers around 130 can be produced in the reaction of 122Te with 16O. The 122Te target was prepared by the evaporation in a high vacuum. The deposition of the Te isotope on the backing was performed from the very close distance to economize the usage of the isotopic material. The thickness distribution of the target material determined by measurements of the alpha particles energy loss was estimated as 32%. The first test of the target on the 16O beam with energy of 80 MeV and intensity of 40 enA proved that target prepared by the Te deposition on the Au backing in vacuum is stable in the in-beam conditions and in spite of its relatively high inhomogeneity is suitable for the planned studies. The impact of different magnetic field configurations on efficiency of internal conversion electron spectrometer was studied. The CST Particle Studio code allows to simulate electron trajectories in a highly inhomogeneous magnetic field produced by set of permanent magnets. The decay of the Iπ = Kπ = 8- isomeric state in 130Ba was investigated using the 122Sn(12C,4n)130Ba reaction. The measurement was carried out in e-γ and γ-γ coincidence modes using an electron spectrometer coupled to the EAGLE gamma-ray array at the Heavy Ion Laboratory, University of Warsaw. Multipolarities and mixing ratios for the 8- → 6+ and 8- → 5+ transitions in 130Ba were derived from experimentally obtained internal conversion coefficients. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
