Abstract Introduction Atopic dermatitis (AD) is heterogeneous in distribution pattern and clinical features. This analysis assessed the effect of dupilumab on the extent and severity of AD across various signs (erythema, edema/papulation, excoriation, lichenification) in different anatomical regions (head and neck, trunk, upper extremities, lower extremities) in patients aged 6 months to 5 years. Methods In LIBERTY AD PRESCHOOL, a double-blind, placebo-controlled, phase III clinical trial, children aged 6 months to 5 years with moderate-to-severe AD were randomized 1:1 to subcutaneous dupilumab or placebo with concomitant low-potency topical corticosteroids (TCS) every 4 weeks for 16 weeks. Changes in AD signs across anatomical regions were assessed using unweighted Eczema Area and Severity Index (EASI) body region scores. Results Overall, 162 patients were randomized to dupilumab (n = 83) or placebo (n = 79). In terms of manned aircraft, pilots usually detect icing conditions by visual cues or by means of ice detector systems. If one of these cues is seen by the crew or systems detect icing conditions, they have to apply the evasive procedure as defined within the aircraft flight manual (AFM). However, as regards unmanned aircraft, there are not pilots on board and, consequently, nobody can act immediately when icing conditions occur. This article aims to propose new techniques of sending information to ground which make possible to know the aircraft performance correctly in icing conditions. For this goal, three contributions have been developed for the unmanned aircraft Milano. Since icing conditions are characterized quantitatively by the droplet size, the liquid water content, and the total air temperature, when these parameters are between certain limits ice formation on aircraft may occur. As a result of these contributions, in that moment, high-quality images of the wing leading edge, tail leading edge and meteorological probes will be captured and sent to ground making possible that remote pilots or artificial intelligent (AI) systems can follow the appropriate procedures, avoid encounters with severe icing conditions and perform real-time decision making. What is more, as information security is becoming an inseparable part of data communication, it is proposed how to embed relevant information within an image. Among the improvements included are image compression techniques and steganography methods.

Freshwater fishes exhibit a wide range of auditory adaptations and capabilities, which are assumed to help them navigate their environment, avoid predators, and find potential mates. Yet, we know very little about how freshwater environments sound to fish, or how fish with different auditory adaptations respond to different soundscapes. We first compiled data on fish hearing acuity and adaptations and provided a portrait of how anthropogenic sounds compare to natural sounds in different freshwater soundscapes. We then conducted a sound‐enrichment field experiment at Lake Saint Pierre, a large fluvial lake in Canada, to evaluate the effect of motorboat sound exposure on the fish community by looking at the extent to which changes in species abundances were linked to auditory adaptations. Data compilation showed that the hearing acuity of most species overlaps with a wide range of ambient and anthropogenic underwater sounds while the field experiment showed that species with more specialized auditory structures were captured less often in sound‐enriched traps, indicating avoidance behavior. Our findings highlight the importance of considering species' sensorial adaptations when evaluating the community‐scale effects of anthropogenic sounds on the fish community, especially at low levels of anthropogenic activity. Este trabajo tiene como principal objetivo demostrar que existe una conexión entre el auge del coleccionismo a finales del siglo XIX y principios del XX y el desarrollo de la historia del arte como disciplina académica. Nos hemos centrado en la miniatura-retrato, dado que se trata de una materia poco estudiada en España, pero que, en cambio, ha tenido gran presencia en las colecciones privadas. Las miniaturas y los pequeños retratos revelan usos de la imagen altamente significativos para la historia cultural de las épocas moderna y contemporánea, por lo que también hemos querido definir este ámbito de investigación. Para ello hemos realizado un análisis pormenorizado de la bibliografía existente, remontándonos a las obras publicadas en el siglo XIX hasta los trabajos más recientes, tanto españoles como extranjeros, subrayando el valor de los planteamientos interdisciplinares de la investigación actual. Miniatures and small portraits are highly significant to the cultural history of Modern and Contemporary periods. We have focused on portrait miniature, due to the lack of research on this area in Spain, even though miniatures had been deeply appreciated among private collectors. With the aim of attempting the state of the art, we have carefully analysed a variety of bibliographical references, starting with the first studies dated from the 19th century, finishing with the more recent ones, by Spanish and foreign authors. It is worth mentioning that, today, researchers are following an interdisciplinary methodology that we consider highly enriching.

Resumen: Introducción: El síndrome del túnel carpiano (STC) es la neuropatía periférica más común. Consiste en la compresión del nervio mediano a nivel de túnel carpiano. Tiene una alta prevalencia y genera una situación muy discapacitante desde las primeras fases. En los casos graves el tratamiento suele ser quirúrgico, mientras que en los leves y moderados el tratamiento es conservador. El objetivo de esta revisión es conocer los tratamientos conservadores, así como su efectividad, en pacientes con STC leve y moderado, en los 15 últimos años. Desarrollo: Se realizó una revisión sistemática según los criterios de PRISMA. Se emplearon las bases de datos Medline, PEDro y Cochrane. Se seleccionaron aquellos ensayos clínicos controlados y aleatorizados que analizasen los efectos del tratamiento conservador sobre los síntomas y la función en pacientes con STC leve o moderado. Se incluyeron 32 ensayos clínicos. Existe evidencia sobre la efectividad de los fármacos orales aunque las infiltraciones parecen ser más efectivas. El uso de férulas ha mostrado ser efectivo y asociado a otras técnicas no farmacológicas también. Las técnicas de electroterapia no han mostrado resultados concluyentes sobre la efectividad de forma aislada. Otras técnicas de tejido blando también han mostrado buenos resultados pero es escasa la evidencia en este campo. También se han propuesto varias combinaciones de tratamiento farmacológico con no farmacológico sin resultados concluyentes. Conclusiones: Existen varios tratamientos conservadores capaces de mejorar los síntomas y la función de los pacientes con STC leve y moderado. Estos incluyen el uso de férulas, fármacos orales, infiltraciones, técnicas de electroterapia, técnicas manuales específicas y ejercicios de deslizamiento neural, así como la combinación de varias de ellas. No ha sido posible describir la mejor técnica o combinación de técnicas debido a las limitaciones de los estudios, por lo que es necesario realizar más estudios con una calidad metodológica adecuada. The current work shows the optimization of the preparation of nanosized titanium carbide in situ through mechanical alloying. Metallic titanium powders, along with two carbon sources, carbon nanotubes, and stearic acid, were used to reduce the particle size (around 11 nm) using an SPEX 800 high-energy mill. The combined use of 2 wt % of these carbon sources and n-heptane as a liquid process control agent proved crucial in generating nanoscale powder composites through a simple and scalable synthesis process within a 4 h timeframe. The uses of 20 wt % of both carbon sources were compared to determine the ability of carbon nanotubes to form carbides and the decomposition of process control agent during mechanical milling. The structure of the composites and starting materials were evaluated through X-ray diffraction and Raman spectroscopy, while the morphology features (average particle size and shape) were monitored via scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy. This study evaluates air quality model sensitivity to input and to model components. Simulations are performed using the California Institute of Technology (CIT) airshed model. Results show the impacts on ozone (O3) concentration in the South Coast Air Basin (SCAB) of California because of changes in: (1) input data, including meteorological conditions (temperature, UV radiation, mixing height, and wind speed), boundary conditions, and initial conditions (ICs); and (2) model components, including advection solver and chemical mechanism. O3 concentrations are strongly affected by meteorological conditions and, in particular, by temperature. ICs also affect O3 concentrations, especially in the first 2 days of simulation. On the other hand, boundary conditions do not significantly affect the absolute peak O3 concentration, although they do affect concentrations near the inflow boundaries. Moreover, predicted O3 concentrations are impacted considerably by the chemical mechanism. In addition, dispersion of pollutants is affected by the advection routine used to calculate its transport. Comparison among CIT, California Photochemical Grid Model (CALGRID), and Urban Airshed Model air quality models suggests that differences in O3 predictions are mainly caused by the different chemical mechanisms used. Additionally, advection solvers contribute to the differences observed among model predictions. Uncertainty in predicted peak O3 concentration suggests that air quality evaluation should not be based solely on this single value but also on trends predicted by air quality models using a number of chemical mechanisms and with an advection solver that is mass conservative.
