The present work aims to differentiate the contributions of complete fusion (CF) and incomplete fusion (ICF) components by the measurement and analysis of the forward recoil range distribution of 20Ne projectile with 159Tb target nucleus. The recoil catcher technique has been employed for the identification of residues populated in the collision of 20Neion beam at projectile energy -8.2 MeV per nucleon. The result obtained from the study suggests that the complete fusion reaction occurs with complete momentum transfer, which leads to large recoil ranges of the reaction products. However, the presence of incomplete fusion, resulting from the break-up of 20Ne into 16O + 4He, 12C+ 8Be, and/or 8Be + 12C, involves partial momentum transfer, leading to small recoil ranges where one of the fragments undergoes fusion with the 159Tb target nucleus. Moreover, upon analyzing the data, the ICF fraction (FICF) has been estimated and compared with literature data as a function of various entrance channel parameters, namely Mass-asymmetry (µMA), Coulomb factor (ZPZT), Deformation parameter (β2) and ZPZT-2. The outcomes offer valuable insights into the entrance channel parameters that influence incomplete fusion dynamics. In a study conducted at the experimental field of Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University from November 2018 to February 2019, eight advanced populations of Brassica rapa L. were assessed to explore their variability, heritability, genetic advance, correlations and path coefficient considering twelve yield-contributing traits. Significant variation was observed among all populations for all traits. Minimum difference between phenotypic and genotypic variance was noted in most of the traits, while high genotypic and phenotypic coefficient of variation occurred in the number of secondary branches per plant, number of siliquae per plant, thousand seed weight, and seed yield per plant. Traits like days to first flowering, days to 50% flowering, and days to 80% maturity exhibited high heritability with low genetic advance. Conversely, the number of siliquae per plant demonstrated high heritability with high genetic advance, suggesting potentiality for trait selection. Correlation analysis identified significant positive associations between seed yield per plant and several traits. Path coefficient analysis highlighted direct positive effects on seed yield per plant from days to 80% maturity, root length, number of secondary branches per plant, and thousand seed weight. Chronologically, G6 performed the best showcasing most of the traits especially seed yield per plant and days to 80% maturity which can be considered as important breeding material for improvement of B. rapa L. In breeding programs, direct selection based on crop yields is paradoxical due to its complex polygenically inherited nature, that is impacted by its component traits. To determine the degree of relationship between yield and yield components and other traits in nine barley varieties, a field experiment was carried out at the Regional Agricultural Research Station, Jashore during Rabi 2021-2022. For plant height, disease and insect reaction, and grain yield, substantial heritability together with strong genetic progress as a percentage of mean were detected, indicating a prevalence of additive gene action in the expression of these traits. At both the genotypic and phenotypic levels, the correlation coefficient between grain yield was shown to be positively correlated with plant height and thousand grain weight, indicating that an increase in these traits will boost grain production. Both genotypic and phenotypic analysis of the path coefficient demonstrated that plant height and thousand grain weight had a direct positive impact on grain production, highlighting the significance of these parameters as the primary contributors to yield. For the purpose of genetically improving barley yield, a genotype with a higher extent of these qualities could be chosen as a parent from among genotypes that already exist. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Success stories that encompass entirely from callus induction to fruit bearing of tomato are very limited. Here, this study uncovers an optimized protocol for in vitro regeneration of BARI Tomato-15 which successfully leads to fruit bearing. First leaf and epicotyls were used as explant in MS medium with different concentrations of Indol-3 acetic acid (IAA) and 6-Benzyl amino purin (BAP) for regeneration. MS media containing 0.5 mg L-1 IAA + 0.5 mg L-1 BAP and 0.5 mg L-1 IAA + 2.0 mg L-1 BAP performed best and exhibited the highest frequencies of callus formation and regeneration from first leaves and epicotyl. A combination of 0.5 mg L-1 BAP and 0.5 mg L-1 IAA exhibited the longest shoot (11.33 cm) and root (7.00 cm) length at in vitro conditions. Plants derived from the same combination produced the highest number of leaves (22) and plant height (8.33 cm), and accelerated early flowering and increased fruit bearing (134-plant) with satisfactory yield (5.71 kg-plant) after acclimatization at field condition. Therefore, MS media containing 0.5 mg L-1 IAA + 0.5 mg L-1 BAP could be an effective combination for regeneration and development of an early maturing tomato cultivar. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Introduction: Treatment of children with Down syndrome having congenital heart defects has not been reported well in Bangladesh. This study has been carried out to inform practitioners about findings from cases in Combined Military Hospital, Dhaka. Methods: Three years retrospective observational study (clinical data, hospital course and follow-up) was carried out on 114 patients (49 males and 65 females, age range 1 month to 12 years) who underwent diagnostic and therapeutic work up in the pediatric cardiology department CMH Dhaka between January 2018 and December 2020. Results: Among 114 patients ,64 were (57%) were infants and 50 were older children (43%), twenty-five had congestive cardiac failure and eighteen had hypothyroidism. The study showed that 33.3% were atrioventricular septal defect (AVSD), 28.1% were patent ductus arteriosus (PDA),8.75% were tetralogy of Fallot (TOF) ,5.25% were coartation of aorta (COA) ,3.5% were patent ductus arteriosus with coarctation of aorta 3.5%, double outlet right ventricle with pulmonary stenosis were 3.5%, ventricular septal defect were 7% whereas atrial septal defect along with ventricular septal defect were 5.3%, atrial septal defect were 3.5%, transposition of great arteries with multiple ventricular septal defect were 1.8%.Forty (35%) patients using per cutaneous intervention, had 100% procedural success and no mortality .45 patients underwent surgery, few of them were not operated due to severe pulmonary hypertension. Conclusion: Congenital heart disease was more frequent in DS children, having worse prognosis. Children with DS required special attention due to increased risk of pulmonary hypertension. Delayed treatment was an important risk factor for poor prognosis. So early diagnosis is needed in order to provide optimal intervention and surgery, before occurrence of irreversible PAH. In the present paper, we study a Newton-like method for solving the variational inclusion defined by the sums of a Fréchet differentiable function, divided difference admissible function and a set-valued mapping with closed graph. Under some suitable assumptions on the Fréchet derivative of the differentiable function and divided difference admissible function, we establish the existence of any sequence generated by the Newton-like method and prove that the sequence generated by this method converges linearly and superlinearly to a solution of the variational inclusion. Specifically, when the Fréchet derivative of the differentiable function is continuous, Lipschitz continuous, divided difference admissible function admits first order divided difference and the set-valued mapping is pseudo-Lipschitz continuous, we show the linear and superlinear convergence of the method. More complex and interesting phenomenon of incomplete fusion (ICF) reactions induced by 20Ne on 159Tb have been measured at several beam energies range of 4.3 - 8.2 MeV/A by using catcher foil technique followed by the gamma-ray spectrometry. The cumulative cross-sections of evaporation residues produced in above reaction have been measured and deduced independent cross-sections have been compared with statistical model based computer code PACE-2. The complete fusion (CF) channels pxn agrees well with PACE-2 predictions after the subtraction of precursor contribution. The alpha emission products show higher cross-section than that predicted by the complete fusion product, which is attributed to the presence of incomplete fusion of projectile with target at lower energies. This enhancement in the measured cross-section is attributed to the fact that these residues are formed not only by complete fusion but also through the ICF of 20Ne into α clusters, i.e., 20Ne into 16O+α and/or 12C+2α etc. For the better understanding of ICF, the incomplete fusion fraction has also been deduced and its sensitivity with various channel parameters like projectile energy, entrance channel mass-asymmetry, α-Q value, Coulomb effect (ZPZT), deformation parameter (β2) have been observed. Background: Suicide is a leading cause of death worldwide. This is the first study in Bangladesh to find out the psychiatric morbidity profile and suicidal behavior. The study was aimed to delineate the types of suicidal behavior and the psychiatric morbidity profile, and sociodemographic status of patients. Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional study was done in Depatrment of Psychiatry, Cumilla Medical College, Cumilla from October 2015 to March 2017. A total 120 patient aged 9 to 40 years who fulfilled the enrolment criteria included in the study. The Composite International Diagnostic Interview (CIDI) module was used to assess the suicidal behavior. DSM-5 was used to diagnose the psychiatric disorders. Semi structural questionnaire were used for collecting information about the risk factors for psychiatric morbidity and sociodemographic information. Result: Of 120 suicidal behavior patients' psychiatric disorders was 65%. Among suicidal behavior patients neurotic disorders was 19%, psychotic disorders was 15%, personality disorders was 39% and others disorder was 27%. Among 78 psychiatric patients borderline personality disorder was 25.64%, adjustment disorders were 15.38%, mood disorders were 11.53%, psychotic disorder was 7.69%, multiple personality disorder and oppositional defiant disorder were 6.42%, hystrionic personality disorder and substance use disorder were 3.84%, antisocial personality disorder, conduct disorder and anxiety disorder were 2.57%, and composite disorder was 11.53%. Among suicidal behavior in psychiatric patients suicidal ideation was 54, suicidal plan was 13, suicidal attempt was 45, ideators only proceeded to plan was 17, ideation to attempt was 59. Among suicidal behavior in total 120 participants suicidal ideation was 84, suicidal plan was 19, suicidal attempt was 56, ideators only proceeded to plan was 26, ideation to attempt was 76, planned attempt was 14 and impulsive attempt was 62. Most of the suicidal behavior participants were female (77.5%) and age group of <24 years (60%). Conclusions: Psychiatric disorders are important risk factors for the onset and persistence of suicidal behaviour, with this risk being the greatest in childhood, and early adult. The aim of this paper is to modify the theory to fuzzy metric spaces, a natural extension of probabilistic ones. More precisely, the modification concerns fuzzily normed linear spaces, and, after defining a fuzzy concept of completeness, fuzzy Banach spaces. After discussing some properties of mappings with compact images, we define the (Leray-Schauder) degree by a sort of colimit extension of (already assumed) finite dimensional ones. Acacia nilotica is an important agroforestry specie, which is used in both compact and linear forms. The objective of the current study was to evaluate the effect of compost on the growth performance and biomass production of A. nilotica. Completely randomized design (CRD) was used to analyze the variations among several growth morphological traits. Two parallel trials, pot trial (seedlings), field trial (saplings) were conducted simultaneously. Compost and litter mixture were applied in mentioned trials. Following treatments were used: T0 - control; T1 - 25% of compost and 75% of nursery soil; T2 - mixture of 50% nursery soil and 50% compost; T3 - mixture of 75% compost and 25% of nursery soil; T4 - where 100% compost was applied. Increase in plant growth was observed with the increases in the amount of compost mixture. In field trial maximum plant height, shoot length, root length, rootshoot ratio and biomass production was observed when 100% compost level was applied, while minimum was observed without any compost appli-cation. In pot trials, the maximum plant height, rootshoot ratio and biomass production was recorded when 75% compost level was applied. Overall, Acacia performed better with 100% of compost application in field trail and 75% of compost application in pot trial. The results of this study demonstrated the positive effects of compost on the growth of Acacia. The seedling development was improved considerably with different levels having greater percentage of organic fertilizer and it was concluded that compost improves soil fertility and it should be used as organic fertilizer in farming and forestry practices for improving crop growth and yield. Rice (Oryza sativa L.) production technology adoption requires effective farmers' training for narrowing knowledge gap. This paper assesses the result of community training on the extent of adoption of improved rice production practices in low land rice of south western Bangladesh. A total of 531 farmers were trained through community training approach and 177 farmers were randomly selected for data collection. The extent of adoption of improved rice production practices and reasons for non-adopting technologies were solicited by personal interview with the help of a semi-structured questionnaire. Collected data were analysed using descriptive and inferential techniques. The community training was suited to adopt rice production technologies. The adoption of different rice production technologies was greater by the adopters of Satkhira district compared to Khulna that resulted in significant rice yield difference. The constraints against the adoption of the selected rice production technologies show that a portion of adopters was not convinced to adopt row transplanting, skipped row planting and birds perch for controlling insects, use of appropriate K and S fertilizers due to requirement of higher labour and fertilizer and risk of reduction of rice yield. The integration of other extension methods such as method and result demonstration might enhance the rate of adoption of those rice production technologies. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
