- Abstract
Abstract: The main objective of this BSc Thesis is to develop able-to-be simulated HDL model of processors with RISC-V ISA. To achieve this goal, the VHDL language will be used to model various royalty-free RISC-V

- Abstract
In plants salt and water stress result in an induction of respiration and accumulation of stress-related metabolites (SRMs) with osmoregulation and osmoprotection functions that benefit photosynthesis. The synthesis of SRMs may depend on an active respiratory metabolism, which can be restricted under stress by the inhibition of the cytochrome oxidase pathway (COP), thus causing an increase in the reduction level of the ubiquinone pool. However, the activity of the alternative oxidase pathway (AOP) is thought to prevent this from occurring while at the same time, dissipates excess of reducing power from the chloroplast and thereby improves photosynthetic performance. The present research is based on the hypothesis that the accumulation of SRMs under osmotic stress will be affected by changes in folial AOP activity. To test this, the oxygen isotope-fractionation technique was used to study the in vivo respiratory activities of COP and AOP in leaves of wild-type Arabidopsis thaliana plants and of aox1a mutants under sudden acute stress conditions induced by mannitol and salt treatments. Levels of leaf primary metabolites and transcripts of respiratory-related proteins were also determined in parallel to photosynthetic analyses. The lack of in vivo AOP response in the aox1a mutants coincided with a lower leaf relative water content and a decreased accumulation of crucial osmoregulators. Additionally, levels of oxidative stress-related metabolites and transcripts encoding alternative respiratory components were increased. Coordinated changes in metabolite levels, respiratory activities and photosynthetic performance highlight the contribution of the AOP in providing flexibility to carbon metabolism for the accumulation of SRMs.

- Abstract
The aim of this paper is to present the results of the archaeological intervention and subsequent research work carried out in the Al-Kanz cave, located in the municipality of Espiel (Córdoba), thanks to the cooperation between archaelogy and speleology. The location and subsequent study of various pottery items dated in Caliphal times, as well as a Prehistoric panel of schematic art, allows us to suggest hypotheses about the possible uses of this space and, ultimately, to contribute to a better knowledge of the historical and archaeological context of the north of the province, Con esta contribución, fruto de la colaboración entre espeleología y arqueología, pretendemos dar a conocer los resultados de la intervención arqueológica y posteriores labores de investigación desarrollados en la Cueva de Al-Kanz, situada en el término municipal de Espiel (Córdoba).

The development of mobile applications in security is increasingly playing an important role in the world of technologies. Application distribution platforms for mobile devices have a large number of applications to be inserted in your store every day, and many of them are not examined for security breaches. These failures can happen due to the lack of theoretical knowledge or even the lack of good security practices in the development of mobile applications. As a result, the applications that are made available to end users may be compromised, that is, the existence of vulnerabilities is quite pronounced, making it possible for attackers to intercept confidential user information. In order to reduce the number of applications with security flaws and to raise awareness and educate programmers, this dissertation emerged, which developed a system capable of finding vulnerabilities in Android applications, using various static analysis tools and which has the purpose of presenting a detailed report with all the vulnerabilities identified by all the tools, categorized and normalized, and finally for each vulnerability displayed in the report there will be a set of educational information (videos, books, articles or other content) that will help the programmer to be able to correct or mitigate their Android application.

- Abstract
Based in the Cultural Historical approach as a theoretical framework, the research is based in a case study and represents a qualitative investigation which its general objective is to discuss the possibilities and limits of the contribution of the Reading classroom program into forming readers in the school context. The place chosen to develop the research was the reading class Clarice Lispector, at the Escola Estadual Professora Djanira Velho, a public school in the city of Ribeirão Preto and linked to the São Paulo State Department of Education. The data collection was performed through a semi-structures interview and interactions via focus group, carried out, respectively, with the reading classroom mediator and the seven sample students. The research dialogues with other approaches that include studies about reading and its practices; contextualizes the Reading Classroom Program before the main public policies linked to the formation of readers; ascertain the process of formation of the book collection and the organization of the space of the reading classroom; analyzes the process of choosing the teacher responsible for the Reading Classroom Program, as well as the official guidelines that guide their practice; characterizes the students relations with the book collection, the space, the mediator teacher and the reading practices; identifies and describes the practices that occur in the reading classroom. The results indicate that, although there is rejection of the students to the books that belong to the collection, the space, the presence of a teacher and the involvement in reading practices are declared positive for the reading education of the sample students. In addition, it recognizes the potential of the reading classroom in reading education of the students and points out the limits to be overcome through suggestions that support diversification of the book collection, the offer of free reading moments and, most importantly, the teaching of reading strategies in literary literacy practices

Palytoxin binds to [Na.sup.+]/[K.sup.+] pumps in the plasma membrane of animal cells and opens an electrodiffusive cation pathway through the pumps. We investigated properties of the palytoxin-opened channels by recording macroscopic and microscopic currents in cell bodies of neurons from the giant fiber lobe, and by simultaneously measuring net current and [sup.22][Na.sup.+] efflux in voltage-clamped, internally dialyzed giant axons of the squid Loligo pealei. The conductance of single palytoxin-bound 'pump-channels' in outside-out patches was ~7 pS in symmetrical 500 mM [[Na.sup.+]], comparable to findings in other cells. In these high-[[Na.sup.+]], [K.sup.+]-free solutions, with 5 mM cytoplasmic [ATP], the [K.sub.0.5] for palytoxin action was ~70 pM. The pump-channels were ~40-50 times less permeable to N-methyl-D-glucamine ([NMG.sup.+]) than to [Na.sup.+]. The reversal potential of palytoxin-elicited current under biionic conditions, with the same concentration of a different permeant cation on each side of the membrane, was independent of the concentration of those ions over the range 55-550 mM. In giant axons, the Using flux ratio exponent (n') for [Na.sup.+] movements through palytoxin-bound pump-channels, over a 100-400 mM range of external [[Na.sup.+]] and 0 to -40 mV range of membrane potentials, averaged 1.05 [+ or -] 0.02 (n = 28). These findings are consistent with occupancy of palytoxin-bound [Na.sup.+]/[K.sup.+] pump-channels either by a single [Na.sup.+] ion or by two [Na.sup.+] ions as might be anticipated from other work; idiosyncratic constraints are needed if the two [Na.sup.+] ions occupy a single-file pore, but not if they occupy side-by-side binding sites, as observed in related structures, and if only one of the sites is readily accessible from both sides of the membrane.

The content selected was the Heat Engine which contents supports the second grade in the high school textbooks. During the process, we proceeded the analysis using four textbooks of Physics in the second year of Public School of Manaus, as well as the works, performed using the same topic. The analysis concerning the structure presented in this resource has been seen that the historical and social aspects related to this topic were suppressed according to the abstract algebraic analysis of its operation from the physical perception of the phenomena involved, and which does not comply with the perspectives of axes mentioned. As the use of Heat Engine impacted in its advent and the growth during centuries, we aimed to achieve from the mentioned resource build the proposal, which values approaching the student to the historical and social aspects of the science, and from this point enable the Scientific Literacy during the process. We applied as a reference to the social-historical theory of Vygotsky in the view of basing the teacher as a mediator in relation to the learning process. We applied the method of analysis using the content from video transcription to the later reflection of the approach possibilities aiming the Scientific Literacy. - Abstract
Artistic mediation is a practice that has been developed for years in the district of Concepción. Mainly by groups and artistic organizations, but it has also been established as a policy of formal and governmental institutions. The present study seeks to identify the different ways in which mediation operates through ethnography and participant observation. How it is perceived by each of them and contrast this with the theoretical reflection developed by the author Carmen Mörsch, approaching to reveal the local praxis of the actors involved, mediators, public, cultural institutions and art work., La mediación artística es una práctica que se ha desarrollado desde hace años en la comuna de Concepción.

Plants exhibit respiratory bypasses (e.g., the alternative oxidase [AOX]) and increase the synthesis of carboxylates in their organs (leaves and roots) in response to phosphorus (P) deficiency, which increases P uptake capacity. They also show differential expression of high-affinity inorganic phosphorus (Pi) transporters, thus avoiding P toxicity at a high P availability. The association between AOX and carboxylate synthesis was tested in Solanum lycopersicum plants grown at different soil P availability, by using plants grown under P-sufficient and P-limiting conditions and by applying a short-term (24 hr) P-sufficient pulse to plants grown under P limitation. Tests were also performed with plants colonized with arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi, which increased plant P concentration under reduced P availability. The in vivo activities of AOX and cytochrome oxidase were measured together with the concentration of carboxylates and the P concentration in plant organs. Gene transcription of Pi transporters (LePT1 and LePT2) was also studied. A coordinated response between plant P concentration with these traits was observed, indicating that a sufficient P availability in soil led to a suppression of both AOX activity and synthesis of citrate and a downregulation of the transcription of genes encoding high-affinity Pi transporters, presumably to avoid P toxicity., This work was financed by the MICINN—Projects BFU2011‐23294 and CTM2014‐53902‐C2‐1‐P. Immature, vegetable-like fruits are produced by crops of great economic importance, including cucumbers, zucchini, eggplants and bell peppers, among others. Because of their high respiration rates, associated with high rates of dehydration and metabolism, and their susceptibility to chilling injury (CI), vegetable fruits are highly perishable commodities, requiring particular storage conditions to avoid postharvest losses. This review focuses on the oxidative stress that affects the postharvest quality of vegetable fruits under chilling storage. We define the physiological and biochemical factors that are associated with the oxidative stress and the development of CI symptoms in these commodities, and discuss the different physical, chemical and biotechnological approaches that have been proposed to reduce oxidative stress while enhancing the chilling tolerance of vegetable fruits.

This report is the result of the work of the EIP AGRI Focus Group (FG) on Ecological Focus Areas (EFAs) and more specifically on how landscape features (LFs) contribute to the profitability of arable crop production. The scientific literature shows that LFs provide habitats for beneficial insects and other arthropods, birds, plants etc. When appropriately designed and targeted, they also prove to be effective in controlling erosion, wind, and nutrient loss and providing landscape amenities. In this report, we focus on: i) ‘field margins’, the spontaneously established strips of herbaceous plants at the edge of fields; ii) ‘hedgerows’, composed of one or two rows of planted or naturally established shrubs and/or trees, and; iii) ‘grassy or flower strips’, intentionally sown, the former mostly with grasses and the latter with flowering plants. The central scope was to examine if and how landscape features could contribute to the profitability of arable crop production. Other direct economic effects for the farmers include the production of wood, fruits, grass for horses, etc. We also included the benefits of landscape features to the society (aesthetics, social value, ecosystem services towards society) that the markets mostly fail to provide. A farm and the embedding landscape are systems that should be approached in a holistic way.

Revista arquitectura Lusíada. - ISSN 1647-9009. - N. 5 (1.º semestre 2014).

- Abstract
Embryopathies that develop as a consequence of maternal diabetes have been studied intensely in both experimental and clinical scenarios. Accordingly, hyperglycaemia has been shown to downregulate the expression of elements in the non-canonical Wnt-PCP pathway, such as the Dishevelled-associated activator of morphogenesis 1 (Daam1) and Vangl2. Daam1 is a formin that is essential for actin polymerization and for cytoskeletal reorganization, and it is expressed strongly in certain organs during mouse development, including the eye, neural tube and heart. Daam1gt/gt and Daam1gt/+ embryos develop ocular defects (anophthalmia or microphthalmia) that are similar to those detected as a result of hyperglycaemia. Indeed, studying the effects of maternal diabetes on the Wnt-PCP pathway demonstrated that there was strong association with the Daam1 genotype, whereby the embryopathy observed in Daam1gt/+ mutant embryos of diabetic dams was more severe. There was evidence that embryonic exposure to glucose in vitro diminishes the expression of genes in the Wnt-PCP pathway, leading to altered cytoskeletal organization, cell shape and cell polarity in the optic vesicle. Hence, the Wnt-PCP pathway appears to influence cell morphology and cell polarity, events that drive the cellular movements required for optic vesicle formation and that, in turn, are required to maintain the fate determination. Here, we demonstrate that the Wnt-PCP pathway is involved in the early stages of mouse eye development and that it is altered by diabetes, provoking the ocular phenotype observed in the affected embryos.

- Abstract
© 2015 Elsevier B.V.. Short postharvest exposure of strawberries to high CO2 levels provides significant benefits in reducing decay and controlling physiological disorders during storage at 0°C. To define the different strategies employed by strawberries to tolerate high CO2 concentrations, the impact of different CO2 concentrations on energy and fermentative metabolism was studied under the same conditions of O2 availability. Our data indicate that metabolic depression represents a strategy to effectively adapt to beneficial high CO2 concentrations, with a decrease in ATP levels and in the energy charge, along with moderate ethanolic fermentation. Moreover, the induction of fermentative genes does not appear to be essential for the accumulation of fermentative metabolites. By contrast, when fruit is stored in air without added CO2, the metabolism is not directed towards fermentation and is accompanied by a high ATP/ADP ratio and energy charge. However, when exposed to 40kPa CO2, the excessively low energy charge and excessive decrease in ATP could not match the ATP requirements, in a process that ultimately causes significant perturbations including a high lipid peroxidation.

The definitive version was published in Journal of General Physiology 130 (2007): 41-54, doi:10.1085/jgp.200709770., Palytoxin binds to Na+/K+ pumps in the plasma membrane of animal cells and opens an electrodiffusive cation pathway through the pumps. We investigated properties of the palytoxin-opened channels by recording macroscopic and microscopic currents in cell bodies of neurons from the giant fiber lobe, and by simultaneously measuring net current and 22Na+ efflux in voltage-clamped, internally dialyzed giant axons of the squid Loligo pealei. The conductance of single palytoxin-bound "pump-channels" in outside-out patches was ~7 pS in symmetrical 500 mM [Na+], comparable to findings in other cells. In these high-[Na+], K+-free solutions, with 5 mM cytoplasmic [ATP], the K0.5 for palytoxin action was ~70 pM. The pump-channels were ~40–50 times less permeable to N-methyl-D-glucamine (NMG+) than to Na+. The reversal potential of palytoxin-elicited current under biionic conditions, with the same concentration of a different permeant cation on each side of the membrane, was independent of the concentration of those ions over the range 55–550 mM. In giant axons, the Ussing flux ratio exponent (n') for Na+ movements through palytoxin-bound pump-channels, over a 100–400 mM range of external [Na+] and 0 to –40 mV range of membrane potentials, averaged 1.05 ± 0.02 (n = 28). These findings are consistent with occupancy of palytoxin-bound Na+/K+ pump-channels either by a single Na+ ion or by two Na+ ions as might be anticipated from other work; idiosyncratic constraints are needed if the two Na+ ions occupy a single-file pore, but not if they occupy side-by-side binding sites, as observed in related structures, and if only one of the sites is readily accessible from both sides of the membrane., This work was supported by NIH grants NS22979, NS11223, and HL36783, and National Science Foundation grant CCF- 0622158. - Abstract

Extracellular nucleotides transmit signals into the cells through the P2 family of cell surface receptors. These receptors are amply expressed in human blood vessels and participate in vascular tone control; however, their signaling mechanisms remain unknown. Here we show that in smooth muscle cells of isolated human chorionic arteries, the activation of the P2Y2 receptor (P2Y2R) induces not only its partition into membrane rafts but also its rapid internalization. Cholesterol depletion with methyl-β-cyclodextrin reduced the association of the agonist-activated receptor into membrane rafts but did not affect either the UTPmediated vasoconstrictions or the vasomotor responses elicited by both serotonin and KCl. Ex vivo perfusion of human chorionic artery segments with 1-10 μM UTP, a selective P2Y2R agonist, displaced the P2Y2R localization into membrane rafts within 1 mm, a process preceded by the activation of both RhoA and Raci GTPases. AG1478, a selective and potent inhibitor of the epidermal growth factor receptor tyrosine kinase activity, not only blocked the UTP-induced vasomotor activity but also abrogated both RhoA and Raci activation, the P2Y2R association with membrane rafts, and its internalization. Altogether, these results show for the first time that the plasma membrane distribution of the P2Y2R is transregulated by the epidermal growth factor receptor, revealing an unsuspected functional interplay that controls both the membrane distribution and the vasomotor activity of the P2Y2R in intact human blood vessels.
