Background Interventions to tackle the COVID-19 pandemic may affect the burden of other respiratory diseases. Considering the repercussion of these unique social experiences in infant’s health, this study aims to assess the early impact of social distancing due to the COVID-19 pandemic in hospital admissions for acute bronchiolitis. Methods Data from hospitalizations of acute bronchiolitis in infants under one year were obtained from the Department of Informatics of the Brazilian Public Health database (DATASUS) for the period between 2016 and 2020. These data were also analyzed by macro-regions of Brazil (North, Northeast, Southeast, South and Midwest). To evaluate the effect of social distancing strategy on the incidence of acute bronchiolitis, the absolute and relative reduction was calculated by analyzing the yearly subsets of 2016vs2020, 2017vs2020, 2018vs2020, and 2019vs2020. Results There was a significant reduction in all comparisons, ranging from -78% [IRR 0.22 (0.20 to 0.24)] in 2016vs2020 at -85% [IRR 0.15 (0.13 to 0.16)] in 2019vs2020, for the data from Brazil. For analyzes by macro-regions, the reduction varied from -58% [IRR 0.41 (0.37 to 0.45)] in the Midwest in 2016vs2020 to -93% [IRR 0.07 (0.06 to 0.08)] in the South in 2019vs2020. Conclusions There was a significant reduction in hospitalization for acute bronchiolitis in children under one year old, in Brazil, of the order of more than 70% for most analysis. Our data suggest an important impact of social distance on reducing the transmission of viruses related to acute bronchiolitis. Such knowledge may guide strategies for prevention of viruses spread.

Neste trabalho descrevemos a síntese de novos N-acilamino hidrazidas graxas derivados dos ácidos graxos saturados, esteárico e palmítico e de diferentes amino ácidos. Após, foi avaliada a capacidade de gelificação destes compostos em solventes orgânicos e estudada a morfologia dos géis formados por Microscopia Eletrônica de Varredura (MEV). Os organogeis obtidos foram aplicados na obtenção de nano partículas metálicas de ouro. A síntese das N-acilamino hidrazidas graxas 16b, 17-20a-b foi realizada a partir dos N-acilaminoésteres graxos 11b, 12-15a-b na presença de hidrazina monohidratada em acetonitrila. A reação foi realizada em refluxo por 4 horas e após os produtos foram purificados e isolados em rendimentos que variaram de 80-97%. A seguir foi investigada a gelificação de diferentes solventes orgânicos na presença dos compostos 16b, 17-20a-b. A influência da inserção do grupo - NHNH2 e dos diferentes grupos substituintes dos amino ácidos na gelificação foi estudada em tolueno, hexano, benzeno, ciclo hexano e álcool etílico. O estudo mostrou que a inserção do grupo NH-NH2 levou a formação dos organogeis e os resultados foram comparados com os respectivos derivados de N-acilaminoésteres e ácidos. Imagens de MEV mostraram que a morfologia dos compostos dependeu do grupo lateral presente na estrutura do aminoácido. Finalmente, as N-acilamino hidrazidas graxas 17-20a-b serviram de modelo para a preparação das nanopartículas de ouro. De acordo com os resultados as nanopartículas metálicas de ouro foram formadas pela primeira vez na presença dos compostos 17-20a-b utilizando irradiação de microondas. A formação das nano partículas não alterou as propriedades gelificantes dos materiais, mas mostrou influencia na morfologia dos mesmos, observados por MEV. This study describes the synthesis of new fatty N-acylamino hydrazides from stearic and palmitic acids, and several amino acids. Afterward, we evaluated the gelation ability of these compounds in organic solvents and the morphology of gels formed by Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). In addition, the organogels obtained were applied to form gold nanoparticles. The synthesis of new fatty N-acylamino hydrazides 16b, 17-20a-b was performed from fatty N-acilamino ésteres 11b, 12-15a-b and hydrazine monohydrate in acetonitrile as solvent. The reaction was carried at reflux for 4 hours and the products were isolated in good yields (80-97%). Next the N-acylamino hydrazides 16b, 17-20a-b were investigated in the gelation of different organic solvents . The influence of NH-NH2 group and of amino acid moiety of the N-acylamino hydrazides in the gelation capacity was studied in toluene, hexane, benzene, hexane and ethyl alcohol. The results showed that the presence of the NH-NH2 group favored the formation of the organogeis and the results were compared with the respective Nacylaminoesters and acids. SEM images showed that the morphology of compounds it was dependent of side group present in the amino acid structure. Finally, the fatty N-acilamino hydrazides 17-20a-b were used as a model for the preparation of gold nanoparticles. According to results the metallic nanoparticles were formed, for the first time, in the presence of the compounds 17-20a-b using microwave irradiation. The formation of nanoparticles did not alter the properties of materials, but showed influences in morphology, observed by SEM analysis.
