We introduce sliced optimal transport dataset distance (s-OTDD), a model-agnostic, embedding-agnostic approach for dataset comparison that requires no training, is robust to variations in the number of classes, and can handle disjoint label sets. The core innovation is Moment Transform Projection (MTP), which maps a label, represented as a distribution over features, to a real number. Using MTP, we derive a data point projection that transforms datasets into one-dimensional distributions. The s-OTDD is defined as the expected Wasserstein distance between the projected distributions, with respect to random projection parameters. Leveraging the closed form solution of one-dimensional optimal transport, s-OTDD achieves (near-)linear computational complexity in the number of data points and feature dimensions and is independent of the number of classes. With its geometrically meaningful projection, s-OTDD strongly correlates with the optimal transport dataset distance while being more efficient than existing dataset discrepancy measures. Comparative reviews are pivotal in understanding consumer preferences and influencing purchasing decisions. Comparative Quintuple Extraction (COQE) aims to identify five key components in text: the target entity, compared entities, compared aspects, opinions on these aspects, and polarity. Extracting precise comparative information from product reviews is challenging due to nuanced language and sequential task errors in traditional methods. To mitigate these problems, we propose MTP-COQE, an end-to-end model designed for COQE. Leveraging multi-perspective prompt-based learning, MTP-COQE effectively guides the generative model in comparative opinion mining tasks. Evaluation on the Camera-COQE (English) and VCOM (Vietnamese) datasets demonstrates MTP-COQE's efficacy in automating COQE, achieving superior performance with a 1.41% higher F1 score than the previous baseline models on the English dataset. Additionally, we designed a strategy to limit the generative model's creativity to ensure the output meets expectations. We also performed data augmentation to address data imbalance and to prevent the model from becoming biased towards dominant samples.

Efficient real-time solvers for forward and inverse problems are essential in engineering and science applications. Machine learning surrogate models have emerged as promising alternatives to traditional methods, offering substantially reduced computational time. Nevertheless, these models typically demand extensive training datasets to achieve robust generalization across diverse scenarios. While physics-based approaches can partially mitigate this data dependency and ensure physics-interpretable solutions, addressing scarce data regimes remains a challenge. Both purely data-driven and physics-based machine learning approaches demonstrate severe overfitting issues when trained with insufficient data. We propose a novel Tikhonov autoencoder model-constrained framework, called TAE, capable of learning both forward and inverse surrogate models using a single arbitrary observation sample. We develop comprehensive theoretical foundations including forward and inverse inference error bounds for the proposed approach for linear cases. For comparative analysis, we derive equivalent formulations for pure data-driven and model-constrained approach counterparts. At the heart of our approach is a data randomization strategy, which functions as a generative mechanism for exploring the training data space, enabling effective training of both forward and inverse surrogate models from a single observation, while regularizing the learning process. We validate our approach through extensive numerical experiments on two challenging inverse problems: 2D heat conductivity inversion and initial condition reconstruction for time-dependent 2D Navier-Stokes equations. Results demonstrate that TAE achieves accuracy comparable to traditional Tikhonov solvers and numerical forward solvers for both inverse and forward problems, respectively, while delivering orders of magnitude computational speedups.

Enhancing light emission from perovskite nanocrystal (NC) films is essential in light-emitting devices, as their conventional stacks often restrict the escape of emitted light. This work addresses this challenge by employing a TiO$_2$ grating to enhance light extraction and shape the emission of CsPbBr$_3$ nanocrystal films. Angle-resolved photoluminescence (PL) demonstrated a tenfold increase in emission intensity by coupling the Bloch resonances of the grating with the spontaneous emission of the perovskite NCs. Fluorescence lifetime imaging microscopy (FLIM) provided micrometer-resolution mapping of both PL intensity and lifetime across a large area, revealing a decrease in PL lifetime from 8.2 ns for NC films on glass to 6.1 ns on the TiO$_2$ grating. Back focal plane (BFP) spectroscopy confirmed how the Bloch resonances transformed the unpolarized, spatially incoherent emission of NCs into polarized and directed light. These findings provide further insights into the interactions between dielectric nanostructures and perovskite NC films, offering possible pathways for designing better performing perovskite optoelectronic devices.

Quantum memories are a crucial precondition in many protocols for processing quantum information. A fundamental problem that illustrates this statement is given by the task of channel discrimination, in which an unknown channel drawn from a known random ensemble should be determined by applying it for a single time. In this paper, we characterise the quality of channel discrimination protocols when the quantum memory, quantified by the auxiliary dimension, is limited. This is achieved by formulating the problem in terms of separable quantum states with additional affine constraints that all of their factors in each separable decomposition obey. We discuss the computation of upper and lower bounds to the solutions of such problems which allow for new insights into the role of memory in channel discrimination. In addition to the single-copy scenario, this methodological insight allows to systematically characterise quantum and classical memories in adaptive channel discrimination protocols. In the context of modern life, particularly in Industry 4.0 within the online space, emotions and moods are frequently conveyed through social media posts. The trend of sharing stories, thoughts, and feelings on these platforms generates a vast and promising data source for Big Data. This creates both a challenge and an opportunity for research in applying technology to develop more automated and accurate methods for detecting stress in social media users. In this study, we developed a real-time system for stress detection in online posts, using the "Dreaddit: A Reddit Dataset for Stress Analysis in Social Media," which comprises 187,444 posts across five different Reddit domains. Each domain contains texts with both stressful and non-stressful content, showcasing various expressions of stress. A labeled dataset of 3,553 lines was created for training. Apache Kafka, PySpark, and AirFlow were utilized to build and deploy the model. Current Serverless abstractions (e.g., FaaS) poorly support non-functional requirements (e.g., QoS and constraints), are provider-dependent, and are incompatible with other cloud abstractions (e.g., databases). As a result, application developers have to undergo numerous rounds of development and manual deployment refinements to finally achieve their desired quality and efficiency. In this paper, we present Object-as-a-Service (OaaS) -- a novel serverless paradigm that borrows the object-oriented programming concepts to encapsulate business logic, data, and non-functional requirements into a single deployment package, thereby streamlining provider-agnostic cloud-native application development. We also propose a declarative interface for the non-functional requirements of applications that relieves developers from daunting refinements to meet their desired QoS and deployment constraint targets. We realized the OaaS paradigm through a platform called Oparaca and evaluated it against various real-world applications and scenarios. Statutory law retrieval is a typical problem in legal language processing, that has various practical applications in law engineering. Modern deep learning-based retrieval methods have achieved significant results for this problem. However, retrieval systems relying on semantic and lexical correlations often exhibit limitations, particularly when handling queries that involve real-life scenarios, or use the vocabulary that is not specific to the legal domain. In this work, we focus on overcoming this weaknesses by utilizing the logical reasoning capabilities of large language models (LLMs) to identify relevant legal terms and facts related to the situation mentioned in the query. The proposed retrieval system integrates additional information from the term--based expansion and query reformulation to improve the retrieval accuracy. The experiments on COLIEE 2022 and COLIEE 2023 datasets show that extra knowledge from LLMs helps to improve the retrieval result of both lexical and semantic ranking models. This work is a continuation of the previous one in [{\it Optimization} (2023)], where the existence of optimal solutions and first-order necessary optimality conditions in both Pontryagin's maximum principle form and the variational form were proved for a distributed optimal control problem governed by the three-dimensional viscous Camassa-Holm equations in bounded domains with the cost functional of a quite general form and pointwise control constraints. We will establish the second-order sufficient optimality conditions as well as the Lipschitz stability results of the control system with respect to perturbations of the initial data.

Real-time accurate solutions of large-scale complex dynamical systems are critically needed for control, optimization, uncertainty quantification, and decision-making in practical engineering and science applications, particularly in digital twin contexts. In this work, we develop a model-constrained discontinuous Galerkin Network (DGNet) approach, a significant extension to our previous work [Model-constrained Tagent Slope Learning Approach for Dynamical Systems], for compressible Euler equations with out-of-distribution generalization. The core of DGNet is the synergy of several key strategies: (i) leveraging time integration schemes to capture temporal correlation and taking advantage of neural network speed for computation time reduction; (ii) employing a model-constrained approach to ensure the learned tangent slope satisfies governing equations; (iii) utilizing a GNN-inspired architecture where edges represent Riemann solver surrogate models and nodes represent volume integration correction surrogate models, enabling capturing discontinuity capability, aliasing error reduction, and mesh discretization generalizability; (iv) implementing the input normalization technique that allows surrogate models to generalize across different initial conditions, geometries, meshes, boundary conditions, and solution orders; and (v) incorporating a data randomization technique that not only implicitly promotes agreement between surrogate models and true numerical models up to second-order derivatives, ensuring long-term stability and prediction capacity, but also serves as a data generation engine during training, leading to enhanced generalization on unseen data. To validate the effectiveness, stability, and generalizability of our novel DGNet approach, we present comprehensive numerical results for 1D and 2D compressible Euler equation problems.

Measurements remain as an interesting topic of research since the formulation of quantum theory. Attempts to model quantum measurements by unitary processes are prone to various foundational issues. Here, it is proposed that measurement devices can be modelled to have an open decoherence dynamics that is faster than any other relevant timescale, which is referred to as the ultradecoherence limit. In this limit, it is shown that the clicking rate of measurement devices can be derived from its underlying parameters, not only for the von Neumann ideal measurement devices but also for photon detectors in equal footing. This study addresses contact-rich object insertion tasks under unstructured environments using a robot with a soft wrist, enabling safe contact interactions. For the unstructured environments, we assume that there are uncertainties in object grasp and hole pose and that the soft wrist pose cannot be directly measured. Recent methods employ learning approaches and force/torque sensors for contact localization; however, they require data collection in the real world. This study proposes a sim-to-real approach using a privileged training strategy. This method has two steps. 1) The teacher policy is trained to complete the task with sensor inputs and ground truth privileged information such as the peg pose, and then 2) the student encoder is trained with data produced from teacher policy rollouts to estimate the privileged information from sensor history. We performed sim-to-real experiments under grasp and hole pose uncertainties. This resulted in 100\%, 95\%, and 80\% success rates for circular peg insertion with 0, +5, and -5 degree peg misalignments, respectively, and start positions randomly shifted $\pm$ 10 mm from a default position. Also, we tested the proposed method with a square peg that was never seen during training. Additional simulation evaluations revealed that using the privileged strategy improved success rates compared to training with only simulated sensor data. Incorporating inductive biases is a promising approach for tackling challenging robot learning domains with sample-efficient solutions. This paper identifies partially observable domains where symmetries can be a useful inductive bias for efficient learning. Specifically, by encoding the equivariance regarding specific group symmetries into the neural networks, our actor-critic reinforcement learning agents can reuse solutions in the past for related scenarios. Quantum simulation is making a significant impact on scientific research. The prevailing tendency of the field is to build quantum simulators that get closer to real-world systems of interest, in particular electronic materials. However, progress in the microscopic design also provides an opportunity for an orthogonal research direction: building quantum many-body systems beyond real-world limitations. This colloquium takes this perspective: Concentrating on synthetic quantum matter in non-standard lattice geometries, such as fractal lattices or quasicrystals, higher-dimensional or curved spaces, it aims at providing a fresh introduction to the field of quantum simulation aligned with recent trends across various quantum simulation platforms, including atomic, photonic, and electronic devices. We also shine light on the novel phenomena which arise from these geometries: Condensed matter physicists may appreciate the variety of different localization properties as well as novel topological phases which are offered by such exotic quantum simulators. Polyp segmentation, a critical concern in medical imaging, has prompted numerous proposed methods aimed at enhancing the quality of segmented masks. While current state-of-the-art techniques produce impressive results, the size and computational cost of these models pose challenges for practical industry applications. Recently, the Segment Anything Model (SAM) has been proposed as a robust foundation model, showing promise for adaptation to medical image segmentation. Inspired by this concept, we propose SAM-EG, a framework that guides small segmentation models for polyp segmentation to address the computation cost challenge. Additionally, in this study, we introduce the Edge Guiding module, which integrates edge information into image features to assist the segmentation model in addressing boundary issues from current segmentation model in this task. Through extensive experiments, our small models showcase their efficacy by achieving competitive results with state-of-the-art methods, offering a promising approach to developing compact models with high accuracy for polyp segmentation and in the broader field of medical imaging.

Exciton-polaritons, hybrid light-matter elementary excitations arising from the strong coupling regime between excitons in semiconductors and photons in photonic nanostructures, offer a fruitful playground to explore the physics of quantum fluids of light as well as to develop all-optical devices. However, achieving room temperature propagation of polaritons with a large excitonic fraction, which would be crucial, e.g., for nonlinear light transport in prospective devices, remains a significant challenge. } Here we report on experimental studies of exciton-polariton propagation at room temperature in resonant metasurfaces made from a sub-wavelength lattice of perovskite pillars. Thanks to the large Rabi splitting, an order of magnitude larger than the optical phonon energy, the lower polariton band is completely decoupled from the phonon bath of perovskite crystals. The long lifetime of these cooled polaritons, in combination with the high group velocity achieved through the metasurface design, enables long-range propagation regardless of the polariton excitonic fraction. Remarkably, we observed propagation distances exceeding hundreds of micrometers at room temperature, even when the polaritons possess a very high excitonic component, approximately {80}$\%$. Furthermore, the design of the metasurface introduces an original mechanism for directing uni-directional propagation through polarization control. This discovery of a ballistic propagation mode, leveraging high-speed cooled polaritons, heralds a promising avenue for the development of advanced polaritonic devices.

In this paper, we introduce a novel discriminative loss function with large margin in the context of Deep Learning. This loss boosts the discriminative power of neural nets, represented by intra-class compactness and inter-class separability. On the one hand, the class compactness is ensured by close distance of samples of the same class to each other. On the other hand, the inter-class separability is boosted by a margin loss that ensures the minimum distance of each class to its closest boundary. All the terms in our loss have an explicit meaning, giving a direct view of the feature space obtained. We analyze mathematically the relation between compactness and margin term, giving a guideline about the impact of the hyper-parameters on the learned features. Moreover, we also analyze properties of the gradient of the loss with respect to the parameters of the neural net. Based on this, we design a strategy called partial momentum updating that enjoys simultaneously stability and consistency in training. Furthermore, we also investigate generalization errors to have better theoretical insights. Our loss function systematically boosts the test accuracy of models compared to the standard softmax loss in our experiments.

The sliced Wasserstein barycenter (SWB) is a widely acknowledged method for efficiently generalizing the averaging operation within probability measure spaces. However, achieving marginal fairness SWB, ensuring approximately equal distances from the barycenter to marginals, remains unexplored. The uniform weighted SWB is not necessarily the optimal choice to obtain the desired marginal fairness barycenter due to the heterogeneous structure of marginals and the non-optimality of the optimization. As the first attempt to tackle the problem, we define the marginal fairness sliced Wasserstein barycenter (MFSWB) as a constrained SWB problem. Due to the computational disadvantages of the formal definition, we propose two hyperparameter-free and computationally tractable surrogate MFSWB problems that implicitly minimize the distances to marginals and encourage marginal fairness at the same time. To further improve the efficiency, we perform slicing distribution selection and obtain the third surrogate definition by introducing a new slicing distribution that focuses more on marginally unfair projecting directions. We discuss the relationship of the three proposed problems and their relationship to sliced multi-marginal Wasserstein distance. We measure the Out-of-domain uncertainty in the prediction of Neural Networks using a statistical notion called ``Lens Depth'' (LD) combined with Fermat Distance, which is able to capture precisely the ``depth'' of a point with respect to a distribution in feature space, without any assumption about the form of distribution. Our method has no trainable parameter. The method is applicable to any classification model as it is applied directly in feature space at test time and does not intervene in training process. As such, it does not impact the performance of the original model. The proposed method gives excellent qualitative result on toy datasets and can give competitive or better uncertainty estimation on standard deep learning datasets compared to strong baseline methods., Comment: 12 pages

Large language models with billions of parameters, such as GPT-3.5, GPT-4, and LLaMA, are increasingly prevalent. Numerous studies have explored effective prompting techniques to harness the power of these LLMs for various research problems. Retrieval, specifically in the legal data domain, poses a challenging task for the direct application of Prompting techniques due to the large number and substantial length of legal articles. This research focuses on maximizing the potential of prompting by placing it as the final phase of the retrieval system, preceded by the support of two phases: BM25 Pre-ranking and BERT-based Re-ranking. Experiments on the COLIEE 2023 dataset demonstrate that integrating prompting techniques on LLMs into the retrieval system significantly improves retrieval accuracy. Exciton-polaritons represent a promising platform that combines the strengths of both photonic and electronic systems for future optoelectronic devices. However, their application is currently limited to laboratory research due to the high cost and complexity of fabrication methods, which are not compatible with the mature CMOS technology developed for microelectronics. In this work, we develop an innovative, low-cost, and CMOS-compatible method for fabricating large surface polaritonic devices. This is achieved by direct patterning of a halide-perovskite thin film via thermal nanoimprint. As a result, we observe highly homogeneous polaritonic modes of quality factor $Q\approx 300$ at room temperature across a centimetric scale. Impressively, the process provides high reproducibility and fidelity, as the same mold can be reused more than 10 times to imprint the perovskite layer on different types of substrates. Our results could pave the way for the production of low-cost integrated polaritonic devices operating at room temperature.

Understanding quantum phenomena which go beyond classical concepts is a focus of modern quantum physics. Here, we show how the theory of nonnegative polynomials emerging around Hilbert's 17th problem, can be used to optimally exploit data capturing the nonclassical nature of light. Specifically, we show that nonnegative polynomials can reveal nonclassicality in data even when it is hidden from standard detection methods up to now. Moreover, the abstract language of nonnegative polynomials also leads to a unified mathematical approach to nonclassicality for light and spin systems, allowing us to map methods for one to the other. Bound states in the continuum have recently been utilized in photonic crystal gratings to achieve strong coupling and ultralow power-driven condensation of bosonic exciton-polariton quasiparticles with atypical Dirac-like features in their dispersion relation. Here, we develop the single- and many-body theory of these new effective relativistic exciton-polaritons modes and describe their mean field condensation dynamics facilitated by the interplay between protection from the radiative continuum and negative-mass pump induced optical trapping. Our theory accounts for many tunable grating parameters giving full control over the diffractive coupling properties between guided polaritons and the radiative continuum previously unexplored in the context of driven condensation. In particular, we discover stable cyclical condensate solutions mimicking a driven-dissipative analog of the zitterbewegung effect characterized by coherent superposition of both ballistic (rapid phase front) and trapped (slow phase front) polariton waves. Finally, important distinctions are drawn between the concepts of near field and far field in the photonic grating, clarifying recent experimental observations on the emission characteristics of these long lived nonlinear Dirac polaritons.

This study tackles the representative yet challenging contact-rich peg-in-hole task of robotic assembly, using a soft wrist that can operate more safely and tolerate lower-frequency control signals than a rigid one. Previous studies often use a fully observable formulation, requiring external setups or estimators for the peg-to-hole pose. In contrast, we use a partially observable formulation and deep reinforcement learning from demonstrations to learn a memory-based agent that acts purely on haptic and proprioceptive signals. Moreover, previous works do not incorporate potential domain symmetry and thus must search for solutions in a bigger space. Instead, we propose to leverage the symmetry for sample efficiency by augmenting the training data and constructing auxiliary losses to force the agent to adhere to the symmetry. Results in simulation with five different symmetric peg shapes show that our proposed agent can be comparable to or even outperform a state-based agent. For a long time, images have proved perfect at both storing and conveying rich semantics, especially human emotions. A lot of research has been conducted to provide machines with the ability to recognize emotions in photos of people. Previous methods mostly focus on facial expressions but fail to consider the scene context, meanwhile scene context plays an important role in predicting emotions, leading to more accurate results. In addition, Valence-Arousal-Dominance (VAD) values offer a more precise quantitative understanding of continuous emotions, yet there has been less emphasis on predicting them compared to discrete emotional categories. In this paper, we present a novel Multi-Branch Network (MBN), which utilizes various source information, including faces, bodies, and scene contexts to predict both discrete and continuous emotions in an image. Experimental results on EMOTIC dataset, which contains large-scale images of people in unconstrained situations labeled with 26 discrete categories of emotions and VAD values, show that our proposed method significantly outperforms state-of-the-art methods with 28.4% in mAP and 0.93 in MAE. The results highlight the importance of utilizing multiple contextual information in emotion prediction and illustrate the potential of our proposed method in a wide range of applications, such as effective computing, human-computer interaction, and social robotics. Person Re-Identification (Re-ID) task seeks to enhance the tracking of multiple individuals by surveillance cameras. It supports multimodal tasks, including text-based person retrieval and human matching. One of the most significant challenges faced in Re-ID is clothes-changing, where the same person may appear in different outfits. While previous methods have made notable progress in maintaining clothing data consistency and handling clothing change data, they still rely excessively on clothing information, which can limit performance due to the dynamic nature of human appearances. To mitigate this challenge, we propose the Pose-Guidance Deep Supervision (PGDS), an effective framework for learning pose guidance within the Re-ID task. It consists of three modules: a human encoder, a pose encoder, and a Pose-to-Human Projection module (PHP). Our framework guides the human encoder, i.e., the main re-identification model, with pose information from the pose encoder through multiple layers via the knowledge transfer mechanism from the PHP module, helping the human encoder learn body parts information without increasing computation resources in the inference stage. Through extensive experiments, our method surpasses the performance of current state-of-the-art methods, demonstrating its robustness and effectiveness for real-world applications. This paper is concerned with an optimal control problem governed by nonsmooth semilinear elliptic partial differential equations with both distributed and boundary unilateral pointwise control constraints, in which the nonlinear coefficient in the state equation is not differentiable at one point. Therefore, the Bouligand subdifferential of this nonsmooth coefficient in every point consists of one or two elements that will be used to construct the two associated Bouligand generalized derivatives of the control-to-state operator in any admissible control. These Bouligand generalized derivatives appear in a novel optimality condition, which extends the purely primal optimality condition saying that the directional derivative of the reduced objective functional in admissible directions in nonnegative. We then establish the optimality conditions in the form of multiplier existence. There, in addition to the existence of the adjoint states and of the nonnegative multipliers associated with the unilateral pointwise constraints as usual, other nonnegative multipliers exist and correspond to the nondifferentiability of the control-to-state mapping. The unprecedented rapid growth of computing demand for AI is projected to increase global annual datacenter (DC) growth from 7.2% to 11.3%. We project the 5-year AI DC demand for several power grids and assess whether they will allow desired AI growth (resource adequacy). If not, several "desperate measures" -- grid policies that enable more load growth and maintain grid reliability by sacrificing new DC reliability are considered. We find that two DC hotspots -- EirGrid (Ireland) and Dominion (US) -- will have difficulty accommodating new DCs needed by the AI growth. In EirGrid, relaxing new DC reliability guarantees increases the power available to 1.6x--4.1x while maintaining 99.6% actual power availability for the new DCs, sufficient for the 5-year AI demand. In Dominion, relaxing reliability guarantees increases available DC capacity similarly (1.5x--4.6x) but not enough for the 5-year AI demand. New DCs only receive 89% power availability. Study of other US power grids -- SPP, CAISO, ERCOT -- shows that sufficient capacity exists for the projected AI load growth. Our results suggest the need to rethink adequacy assessment and also grid planning and management. Shadow tomography is a scalable technique to characterise the quantum state of a quantum computer or quantum simulator. The protocol is based on the transformation of the outcomes of random measurements into the so-called classical shadows, which can later be transformed into samples of expectation values of the observables of interest. By construction, classical shadows are intrinsically sensitive to readout noise. In fact, the complicated structure of the readout noise due to crosstalk appears to be detrimental to its scalability. We show that classical shadows accept much more flexible constructions beyond the standard ones, which can eventually be made more conformable with readout noise. With this construction, we show that readout errors in classical shadows can be efficiently mitigated by randomly flipping the qubit before, and the classical outcome bit after the measurement, referred to as $X$-twirling. That a single $X$-gate is sufficient for mitigating readout noise for classical shadows is in contrast to Clifford-twirling, where the implementation of random Clifford gates is required., Comment: 11 pages, 3 figures, 2 protocols; comments are welcome!

In this study, we present a novel and challenging multilabel Vietnamese dataset (RMDM) designed to assess the performance of large language models (LLMs), in verifying electronic information related to legal contexts, focusing on fake news as potential input for electronic evidence. The RMDM dataset comprises four labels: real, mis, dis, and mal, representing real information, misinformation, disinformation, and mal-information, respectively. By including these diverse labels, RMDM captures the complexities of differing fake news categories and offers insights into the abilities of different language models to handle various types of information that could be part of electronic evidence. The dataset consists of a total of 1,556 samples, with 389 samples for each label. Preliminary tests on the dataset using GPT-based and BERT-based models reveal variations in the models' performance across different labels, indicating that the dataset effectively challenges the ability of various language models to verify the authenticity of such information. Our findings suggest that verifying electronic information related to legal contexts, including fake news, remains a difficult problem for language models, warranting further attention from the research community to advance toward more reliable AI models for potential legal applications., Comment: ISAILD@KSE 2023

In recent years, natural language processing has gained significant popularity in various sectors, including the legal domain. This paper presents NeCo Team's solutions to the Vietnamese text processing tasks provided in the Automated Legal Question Answering Competition 2023 (ALQAC 2023), focusing on legal domain knowledge acquisition for low-resource languages through data enrichment. Our methods for the legal document retrieval task employ a combination of similarity ranking and deep learning models, while for the second task, which requires extracting an answer from a relevant legal article in response to a question, we propose a range of adaptive techniques to handle different question types. Our approaches achieve outstanding results on both tasks of the competition, demonstrating the potential benefits and effectiveness of question answering systems in the legal field, particularly for low-resource languages., Comment: ISAILD@KSE 2023
