Abstract

En este artículo se analiza la presencia de la escuela rural en la revista Cabás desde 2009 hasta 2022. En total se han hallado 38 investigaciones. Entre los resultados destaca que ha habido una continuidad en la publicación de estudios sobre escuela rural; y que las investigaciones se centran en España, aunque hay dos que lo hacen en Francia. Los estudios se han clasificado en ocho categorías, destacando la de “Museos” con más artículos. Cabáses una revista de referencia para la historia de la escuela rural.

2. Hyper-Diffusion: Estimating Epistemic and Aleatoric Uncertainty with a Single Model

Abstract

Estimating and disentangling epistemic uncertainty (uncertainty that can be reduced with more training data) and aleatoric uncertainty (uncertainty that is inherent to the task at hand) is critically important when applying machine learning (ML) to high-stakes applications such as medical imaging and weather forecasting. Conditional diffusion models' breakthrough ability to accurately and efficiently sample from the posterior distribution of a dataset now makes uncertainty estimation conceptually straightforward: One need only train and sample from a large ensemble of diffusion models. Unfortunately, training such an ensemble becomes computationally intractable as the complexity of the model architecture grows. In this work we introduce a new approach to ensembling, hyper-diffusion, which allows one to accurately estimate epistemic and aleatoric uncertainty with a single model. Unlike existing Monte Carlo dropout based single-model ensembling methods, hyper-diffusion offers the same prediction accuracy as multi-model ensembles. Abstract

Robust quantification of predictive uncertainty is critical for understanding factors that drive weather and climate outcomes. Ensembles provide predictive uncertainty estimates and can be decomposed physically, but both physics and machine learning ensembles are computationally expensive. Parametric deep learning can estimate uncertainty with one model by predicting the parameters of a probability distribution but do not account for epistemic uncertainty.. Evidential deep learning, a technique that extends parametric deep learning to higher-order distributions, can account for both aleatoric and epistemic uncertainty with one model. This study compares the uncertainty derived from evidential neural networks to those obtained from ensembles. Through applications of classification of winter precipitation type and regression of surface layer fluxes, we show evidential deep learning models attaining predictive accuracy rivaling standard methods, while robustly quantifying both sources of uncertainty. We evaluate the uncertainty in terms of how well the predictions are calibrated and how well the uncertainty correlates with prediction error. Analyses of uncertainty in the context of the inputs reveal sensitivities to underlying meteorological processes, facilitating interpretation of the models. The conceptual simplicity, interpretability, and computational efficiency of evidential neural networks make them highly extensible, offering a promising approach for reliable and practical uncertainty quantification in Earth system science modeling. In order to encourage broader adoption of evidential deep learning in Earth System Science, we have developed a new Python package, MILES-GUESS (https://github.com/ai2es/miles-guess), that enables users to train and evaluate both evidential and ensemble deep learning.

Abstract

The perception of the value of themselves as individuals is a very important outcome in childhood. The aim of this paper is to study the influence of specific domain self-perception on the self-esteem of school age children from Buenos Aires City/AR (CABA). The Self-Perception Profile for Children was administered to 219 children of both genders (mean age = 10.34; SD = 1.77) from a private school from CABA. Multiple lineal regression analysis were performed. School grade and sex differences were taken into account. The main predictor of self-esteem for the boys is the self-perception of physical appearance and for the girls the self-perception of social acceptance. Considering grade differences, the main predictor of self-esteem for children from third to fifth grade is the self-perception of physical appearance and for sixth and seventh graders the self-perception of social acceptance and behavior.

Abstract

Risk of hyperuricemia is modified by genetic and environmental factors. Our aim was to identify factors associated with serum uric acid levels and hyperuricemia in Mexicans. A pilot Genome-wide association study GWAS was performed in a subgroup of participants (n = 411) from the Health Workers Cohort Study (HWCS). Single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) associated with serum uric acid levels were validated in all the HWCS participants (n = 1939) and replicated in independent children (n = 1080) and adult (n = 1073) case-control studies. The meta-analysis of the whole HWCS and replication samples identified three SLC2A9 SNPs: rs1014290 (p = 2.3 × 10-64), rs3775948 (p = 8.2 × 10-64) and rs11722228 (p = 1.1 × 10-17); and an ABCG2 missense SNP, rs2231142 (p = 1.0 × 10-18). Among the non-genetic factors identified, the visceral adiposity index, smoking, the metabolic syndrome and its components (waist circumference, blood pressure, glucose and hyperlipidemia) were associated with increased serum uric acid levels and hyperuricemia (p < 0.05). Among the female HWCS participants, the odds ratio for hyperuricemia was 1.24 (95% CI, 1.01-1.53) per unit increase in soft drink consumption. As reported in other studies, our findings indicate that diet, adiposity and genetic variation contribute to the elevated prevalence of hyperuricemia in Mexico.

Abstract

Introduction: This systematic review identified qualitative and mixed-methods empirical studies on psychotherapy from dialogical and narrative approaches, aiming to address the following questions: (1) How are subjectivity and intersubjectivity qualitatively understood in dialogical and/or narrative psychotherapies studied using dialogical and narrative approaches? (2) How do therapeutic changes occur, including their facilitators and barriers? (3) What psychotherapeutic resources are available for psychotherapists in these types of studies? Method: The articles were selected according to the Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines and the eligibility criteria proposed by the PICOS strategy (participants, interventions, comparators, outcomes, and study design) from 163 records identified in the Web of Science Core Collection databases. Results: The systematic review process allowed the selection of 16 articles. The results provided insights into the understanding of subjectivity, intersubjectivity, change in psychotherapy, its facilitators, and barriers from these perspectives. It also offered some therapeutic interventions that can be implemented in psychotherapies, integrating dialogical and/or narrative aspects. Discussion: The centrality of dialogical exploration of patient/client resources, therapists as interlocutors fostering client agency, polyphony serving as scaffolding for change, and interconnection with the sociocultural environment are discussed. The integration of this latter topic has been a challenge for these types of studies, considering the active construction of shared meanings. The dialogical and narrative approaches focus psychotherapy on transforming meanings through dialogue and re-authoring stories, evolving within cultural and historical contexts. Thus, this study highlights the relevance of these perspectives in contemporary psychotherapy, emphasizing dialogue in co-creation within an intersubjective framework. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

49. Sustainability of Organic Fertilizers Use in Dryland Mediterranean Agriculture.

Abstract

Organic fertilization is a key issue in European Union (EU) regulations, particularly in the context of promoting a circular nutrient economy, maintaining soil quality, and sequestering carbon to face climate change. In a rainfed system in Northeastern Spain, an experiment was set up (split-plot design). It included five pre-sowing N fertilization treatments: control, mineral, pig slurry, and composted sewage sludge (two rates). The average N rates were 0, 30, 141, 176, and 351 kg N ha−1, respectively. They were combined with mineral N topdressings (0, 50, and 100 kg N ha−1). Three crops were grown: barley (nine years), wheat (three years), and rapeseed (one year). In the driest years (c. 350 mm rainfall), the yields averaged 2.5, 2.0, and 1.9 Mg ha−1, respectively. The maximum yields were for barley (6.5 Mg ha−1) and wheat (5.5 Mg ha−1). The avoidance of a significant increase in soil residual NO3−-N, plus the control of soil build up of available P, micronutrients, and Cd, defines the fertilization strategies. (i) With a previous spring drought season, no fertilization is needed in the following year, if devoted to winter cereals. (ii) In rainier seasons, pig slurry or composted sewage sludge (lowest rate) applied at sowing is sufficient; however, 50 kg of mineral-N ha−1 at the topdressing can be applied. The study found that pig slurry favors K, Mg, Cu, and Zn availability, while composted sewage sludge enhances Fe availability. 50. Crop Diversification and Fertilization Strategies in a Rainfed System with Drought Periods.

Abstract

Crop diversification and the reduction of nitrogen (N) inputs are key issues in the EU for more sustainable agriculture. An experiment was set up in a semiarid rainfed Mediterranean system. Our hypothesis was that these challenges could be addressed by introducing new crops and using pig slurries (PSs). The experimental factors were N fertilization at sowing (with or without PS) combined (according to a split-block design) with N fertilization as topdressing (the control, two N mineral rates, and two N rates from PS). Barley, rapeseed, and pea performances were evaluated in two different crop sequences: (i) barley–rapeseed or rapeseed–barley after a fallow season, and (ii) barley–pea or pea–barley after a fallow season followed by a non-fertilized barley crop. The results of the four-year study demonstrated that under a spring drought risk, barley performed better than peas in terms of relative crop yield maintenance. After fallow, N can be saved while maintaining the yields and total biomass of barley and rapeseed. In the second crop sequence, maximum pea and barley yields were associated with a minimum topdressing of 60 or 120 kg mineral N ha−1, respectively. However, slurry fertilization at sowing also allowed the highest yields for barley. Rapeseed and peas can be introduced to reduce N fertilization inputs. However, the obtained yield plateau for pea and rapeseed (3 and 4 Mg ha−1, respectively) and the effect of a yield spring drought on pea yields (50% reduction) might be a constraint for the success of EU policies on crop diversification.
