Objetivo: Realizar uma overview relacionada ao assunto traumatismo em dentes decíduos e permanentes, bem como analisar a qualidade metodológica e o risco de viés dos trabalhos incluídos (PROSPERO CRD42018107840). Métodos: Este trabalho foi conduzido de acordo com o Preferred Reporting Items for Overviews (PRIO). A estratégia de busca foi aplicada nas bases de dados eletrônicas PubMed, WebScience, Embase, Cochrane e Scopus; que incluiu publicações até outubro de 2020, sem restrição de ano e idioma. Foram avaliados os critérios de elegibilidade: trabalhos com enfoque em lesões traumáticas dentárias; apresentar termo “revisão sistemática” (RS) e/ou “meta-análise” no título ou resumo, critérios de elegibilidade, técnicas sistematizadas para coleta e análise de dados, e instrumentos para avaliação da qualidade dos estudos incluídos; identificar as bases de dados utilizadas na pesquisa; abranger o assunto: traumatismo de dentes permanentes e/ou decíduos ou tecidos de suporte. Foi realizada a avaliação da qualidade das RSs utilizando o Assessment of Multiple Systematic Reviews (AMSTAR2) e averiguada a aderência do artigo ao Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA). Os resultados foram analisados pelo Grading of Recommendations, Assessment, Development and Evaluation (GRADE) a fim de classificar a certeza da evidência científica e avaliado o risco de viés pelo ROBIS. Resultados: Foram identificados 2.561 trabalhos, sendo 2.469 excluídos, totalizando 92 artigos incluídos. Nota-se que a partir do ano de 2018 os trabalhos apresentaram melhor qualidade metodológica. E a maioria dos trabalhos apresentaram certeza da evidência científica alta pelo sistema GRADE modificado, e risco de viés baixo pela ferramenta ROBIS. Conclusão: As revisões sistemáticas e meta-análises incluídas apresentaram dificuldade no processo de estruturação metodológica atribuindo, em média, certeza da evidência científica alta para o GRADE, como também risco de viés baixo pelo ROBIS.

A paramagnetic-ferromagnetic quantum phase transition is known to occur at zero temperature in a two-dimensional coherently-coupled Bose mixture of dilute ultracold atomic gases provided the interspecies interaction strength is large enough. Here we study the fate of such a transition at finite temperature by performing numerical simulations with the stochastic (projected) Gross-Pitaevskii formalism, which includes both thermal and beyond mean-field effects. By extracting the average magnetization, the magnetic fluctuations and characteristic relaxation frequency (or, critical slowing down), we identify a finite temperature critical line for the transition. We find that the critical point shifts linearly with temperature and, in addition, the three quantities used to probe the transition exhibit a temperature power-law scaling. The scaling of the critical slowing down is found to be consistent with thermal critical exponents and is very well approximated by the square of the spin excitation gap at the zero-temperature., Comment: 10 pages, 5 figures

We study the thermodynamic properties of binary Bose mixtures, by developing a beyond mean-field Popov theory which properly includes the effects of quantum and thermal fluctuations in both the density and spin channels. Results for key thermodynamic quantities, such as the isothermal compressibility and the magnetic susceptibility, are derived from a perturbative calculation of the grand-canonical potential. We find that thermal fluctuations can play a crucial role on the miscibility condition of a binary mixture, favoring phase separation at finite temperature even if the mixture is soluble at zero temperature, as already anticipated in a previous work [Ota et al., Phys. Rev. Lett. 123, 075301 (2019)]. We further investigate the miscibility condition for binary mixtures in the presence of asymmetry in the intra-species interactions, as well as in the masses of the two components. We investigate the properties of self-bound ultradilute Bose-Bose mixtures, beyond the Lee-Huang-Yang description. Our approach is based on the determination of the beyond mean-field corrections to the phonon modes of the mixture in a self-consistent way and calculation of the associated equation of state. The newly obtained ground state energies show excellent agreement with recent quantum Monte Carlo calculations, providing a simple and accurate description of the self-bound mixtures with contact type interaction. We further show numerical results for the equilibrium properties of the finite size droplet, by adjusting the Gross-Pitaevskii equation. Our analysis is extended to the one-dimensional mixtures where an excellent agreement with quantum Monte Carlo predictions is found for the equilibrium densities. We examine the role of thermal fluctuations in uniform two-dimensional binary Bose mixtures of dilute ultracold atomic gases. We use a mean-field Hartree-Fock theory to derive analytical predictions for the miscible-immiscible transition. A nontrivial result of this theory is that a fully miscible phase at $T=0$ may become unstable at $T\neq0$, as a consequence of a divergent behaviour in the spin susceptibility. We test this prediction by performing numerical simulations with the Stochastic (Projected) Gross-Pitaevskii equation, which includes beyond mean-field effects. We calculate the equilibrium configurations at different temperatures and interaction strengths and we simulate spin oscillations produced by a weak external perturbation. Despite some qualitative agreement, the comparison between the two theories shows that the mean-field approximation is not able to properly describe the behavior of the two-dimensional mixture near the miscible-immiscible transition, as thermal fluctuations smoothen all sharp features both in the phase diagram and in spin dynamics, except for temperature well below the critical temperature for superfluidity., Comment: 13 pages, 8 figures

Objective: To verify the effectiveness of sealing with glass ionomer cement and transversal brushing in the prevention and treatment of initial caries lesions in erupting permanent molars of children aged 5-7 years. Material and Methods: Healthy teeth with ICDAS scores 1 or 2 were selected. One hundred and thirty-one children (79 teeth in the control group - 75 teeth in the test group) were randomly assigned into the two experimental groups: (1) transversal brushing technique for plaque control with conventional flat bristles and fluoridated dentifrice or (2) sealing the occlusal surfaces with glass ionomer cement (Vitro Molar ® ). Follow-up was performed for 18 months and the survival analysis was applied to test the occurrence of lesion progression. Results: The mean age of children was 5.4 years and it was verified that, by examining the initial tooth condition, the probability of progression was 66% lower when the tooth had initial caries lesions than when it was healthy; the probability of molar progression was about 74% lower in the test group compared to the control group. The mean time for lesion development in the test group (16.8 months; SD = 0.5) was greater than that in the control group (16.5 months; SD = 0.5; p=0.008). Conclusion: Sealing reduces the progression of caries disease in initial lesions when compared to the transversal brushing technique.

The miscibility condition for a binary mixture of two interacting Bose-Einstein condensates is shown to be deeply affected by interaction driven thermal fluctuations. These give rise to a first order phase transition to a demixed phase with full spatial separation of the two condensates, even if the mixture is miscible at zero temperature. Explicit predictions for the isothermal compressibility, the spin susceptibility, and the phase transition temperature T-M are obtained in the framework of Popov theory, which properly includes beyond mean-field quantum and thermal fluctuations in both the spin and density channels. For a mixture of two sodium condensates occupying the hyperfine states vertical bar F = 1 >, vertical bar m(F) = 1 > and vertical bar F = 1, m(F) = -1 >, respectively, T-M is predicted to occur at about 0.7 times the usual BEC critical temperature.

The branched-chain α-ketoacid dehydrogenase (BCKDH) complex regulates branched-chain amino acid (BCAA) catabolism by controlling the second step of this catabolic pathway. In the present study, we examined the in vivo effects of treatment with an mTORC1 inhibitor, rapamycin, on cardiac BCKDH complex activity in mice. Oral administration of leucine in control mice significantly activated the cardiac BCKDH complex with an increase in cardiac concentrations of leucine and α-ketoisocaproate. However, rapamycin treatment significantly suppressed the leucine-induced activation of the complex despite similar increases in cardiac leucine and α-ketoisocaproate levels. Rapamycin treatment fully inhibited mTORC1 activity, measured by the phosphorylation state of ribosomal protein S6 kinase 1. These results suggest that mTORC1 is involved in the regulation of cardiac BCAA catabolism.

The temperature and interaction dependence of the first and second sound in a two-dimensional Bose gas is studied in the vicinity of the Berezinskii-Kosterlitz-Thouless transition, where it is found that the excitation of the second sound through a density perturbation becomes weaker as the interaction strength increases, as a consequence of the fast decrease of the thermal expansion coefficient.

Using linear response theory within the Random Phase Approximation, we investigate the propagation of sound in a uniform two dimensional (2D) Bose gas in the collisionless regime. We show that the sudden removal of a static density perturbation produces a damped oscillatory behavior revealing that sound can propagate also in the absence of collisions, due to mean-field interaction effects. Our analysis points out the crucial role played by Landau damping. We support our predictions by performing numerical simulations with the stochastic (projected) Gross-Pitaevskii equation. The results are consistent with the recent experimental observation of sound in a weakly interacting 2D Bose gas both below and above the superfluid Berezinskii-Kosterlitz-Thouless transition., Main text: 4 pages, 4 figures + Supplementary material: 2 page. Introduction: Caries lesion cessation in outer dentin half is through conservative treatments. Objectives: To show a case report of a primary tooth with occlusal caries lesion with small opening and dentin involvement restricted to the outer dentin half, which has been controlled through application of a resin-based sealant. Methods: The surface sealing was performed with Fluoroshield sealant applied with aid of an exploratory probe following the acid etching the surface. Results: The reevaluations were carried out both clinically and radiographically for a period of 12 months, with analyses of the material’s integrity and of the stabilization of the caries lesions. One year later, the integrity of the sealant and the radiographic evidence showing absence of any evolution of the lesion signa-led a good prognosis for this case. Conclusion: The sealing, since periodically controlled, act positively in stopping the lesions, which may be considered as a conservative alternative to conventional restorative treatment.

We theoretically investigate single particle excitations in the BCS (Bardeen-Cooper-Schrieffer)-BEC (Bose-Einstein-Condensation) crossover regime of an ultracold Fermi gas. Including strong pairing fluctuations within a $T$-matrix approximation, as well as effects of a harmonic trap potential in the local density approximation, we calculate the local photoemission spectrum in the normal state. Recently, JILA group has measured this quantity in a $^{40}$K Fermi gas, in order to examine homogeneous single-particle properties of this system. Comparing our results with this experiment, we show that, this attempt indeed succeeds under the JILA's experimental condition. However, we also find that the current local photoemission spectroscopy still has room for improvement, in order to examine the pseudogap phenomenon predicted in the BCS-BEC crossover region. Since ultracold Fermi gases are always in a trap, our results would be useful in applying this system to various homogeneous Fermi systems, as a quantum simulator., Comment: 21 pages, 9 figures

It is known that the catabolism of branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs) in skeletal muscle is suppressed under normal and sedentary conditions but is promoted by exercise. BCAA catabolism in muscle tissues is regulated by the branched-chain α-keto acid (BCKA) dehydrogenase complex, which is inactivated by phosphorylation by BCKA dehydrogenase kinase (BDK). In the present study, we used muscle-specific BDK deficient mice (BDK-mKO mice) to examine the effect of uncontrolled BCAA catabolism on endurance exercise performance and skeletal muscle energy metabolism. Untrained control and BDK-mKO mice showed the same performance; however, the endurance performance enhanced by 2 weeks of running training was somewhat, but significantly less in BDK-mKO mice than in control mice. Skeletal muscle of BDK-mKO mice had low levels of glycogen. Metabolome analysis showed that BCAA catabolism was greatly enhanced in the muscle of BDK-mKO mice and produced branched-chain acyl-carnitine, which induced perturbation of energy metabolism in the muscle. These results suggest that the tight regulation of BCAA catabolism in muscles is important for homeostasis of muscle energy metabolism and, at least in part, for adaptation to exercise training.

Sci Rep 7, 39825 (2017). https://doi.org/10.1038/srep39825, Branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs) are essential amino acids for mammals and play key roles in the regulation of protein metabolism. However, the effect of BCAA deficiency on protein metabolism in skeletal muscle in vivo remains unclear. Here we generated mice with lower BCAA concentrations by specifically accelerating BCAA catabolism in skeletal muscle and heart (BDK-mKO mice). The mice appeared to be healthy without any obvious defects when fed a protein-rich diet; however, bolus ingestion of BCAAs showed that mTORC1 sensitivity in skeletal muscle was enhanced in BDK-mKO mice compared to the corresponding control mice. When these mice were fed a low protein diet, the concentration of myofibrillar protein was significantly decreased (but not soluble protein) and mTORC1 activity was reduced without significant change in autophagy. BCAA supplementation in drinking water attenuated the decreases in myofibrillar protein levels and mTORC1 activity. These results suggest that BCAAs are essential for maintaining myofibrillar proteins during protein undernutrition by keeping mTORC1 activity rather than by inhibiting autophagy and translation. This is the first report to reveal the importance of BCAAs for protein metabolism of skeletal muscle in vivo.

Objective: To assess root canal morphological results and cleaning capacity in deciduous teeth instrumented with a reciprocating system. Material and Methods: 15 deciduous molars and a total of 24 canals were selected for the study. Nine teeth (13 canals) were selected at random for microbiological analysis and 6 teeth (11 canals) were used for tomographic analysis of morphology. The roots used for the microbiological assessment were contaminated with standard strains of Enterococcus faecalis. All roots were instrumented using the WaveOne System with a Small (21:06) 21 mm file and an X-Smart plus motor. Tomography was conducted with an I-CAT machine before and after instrumentation with the objective of analyzing the WaveOne System's shaping capacity. Statistics: Biostat 4.0 software was used to analyze results. The microbiological results (log 10 ) and tomographic results (pixels) were analyzed using descriptive statistics and the Wilcoxon test. Results: There was a significant reduction in Enterococcus faecalis colony-forming units after instrumentation of the root canal systems of deciduous molars using the WaveOne system (p=0.0033) and significant enlargement of the root canal systems was observed after instrumentation (p=0.047), while morphology was maintained. Conclusion: The WaveOne System, using the Small file was effective for disinfection of the root canal systems of deciduous molars.

This study was performed as a part of the research on the ultrasonic measurement of bone porosity, bone density, and Young's modulus. It was found that the bone porosity estimated by Biot's theory agrees within 5% of the actual porosity. The bone's structure factor involved in the Biot's theory was determined experimentally to have a value of 2. It was also found that the use of the propagation velocity of the fast wave is more advantageous than using the slow wave in estimating bone porosity. The estimated bone density obtained by the use of Biot's theory is within ±5% of the measured value obtained by the use of Archimedes' principle. Bone density as well as Young's modulus can be estimated precisely by using the proposed ultrasonic wave method.

Branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs) are essential amino acids for humans and are major building blocks of proteins. Recent studies indicate that BCAAs act not only as components of proteins, but also as nutrasignals. In this review, we summarize the findings of recent studies investigating the physiological functions of BCAAs in the regulation of protein and glucose metabolism and brain function.

The main catabolic pathway of branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs: leucine, isoleucine, and valine) is located in mitochondria. The rate-limiting step of the catabolism in muscle tissues is catalyzed by BCKDH complex, which is located at the second step in the pathway. The activity of BCKDH complex is regulated by covalent modification, and BCKDH kinase (BDK) is responsible for inactivation of the complex by phosphorylation. In the present study, we produced muscle-specific BDK knockout (BDK-mKO) mice. The muscle BCAA concentrations were less than half in BDK-mKO mice than in control mice. We assessed the endurance capacity of BDK-mKO mice and control mice at 12 weeks of age (under untrained conditions) and at 21 weeks of age after 9 weeks training by measuring the distance of running to exhaustion using treadmill with 10% grade. The running speed in the test was initial 15 m/min for 4 min and then increased at the rate of 1 m/min every 4 min. The training was performed 5 days/week by running for 60 min/day...

“Common use modeling” in rural woodlands was examined based on the questionnaire survey to visitors to the woodlands in both Santome and Ushiku Areas. Framework of model was prepared referring existing conception of human activities model in Developmental Psychology. Then, the questions that were considered to describe the model were set for the questionnaire survey. Based upon the survey results, a model was formulated for two target areas, by local residents, wood owners, woodland use/management, rule as an “element” and “relation between elements” which were express at the level of recognition, understanding and participation to woodland use/management.

ObjetivoAvaliar efetividade da luz emissora de diodo, associada ao laser infravermelho, laser vermelho e luz halógena como potencializadores do clareamento dental. MétodosForam selecionados trinta dentes bovinos hígidos que foram corados. As amostras foram divididas em: Grupo 1 controle negativo; Grupo 2 controle positivo; Grupo 3 aplicação do gel clareador; grupo 4 aplicação do gel e fotoativação com luz halógena; grupo 5 aplicação do gel e fotoativação com luz emissora de diodo; grupo 6 aplicação do gel e fotoativação com laser de baixa intensidade (vermelho) e grupo 7: aplicação do gel e fotoativação com luz emissora de diodo associada ao laser de baixa intensidade (infravermelho).ResultadosOs dados obtidos foram tabulados e submetidos ao Teste de Correlação Intraclasse e mostraram correlação de replicabilidade média a boa. As médias aritméticas entre os examinadores foram submetidas ao Teste de Kruskal-Wallis, no qual foi observado que não houve diferença significante entre o controle negativo (dente não corado) e o grupo da luz emissora de diodo. ConclusãoA luz emissora de diodo está indicada como potencializadora no clareamento dentário utilizando o gel clareador Whiteness HPmaxx.
