Background: The COVID-19 pandemic has revealed the fragility of the global food system, sending shockwaves across countries' societies and economy. This has presented formidable challenges to sustaining a healthy and resilient lifestyle. The objective of this study is to examine the food consumption patterns and assess diet diversity indicators, primarily focusing on the food consumption score (FCS), among households in 38 countries both before and during the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: A cross-sectional study with 37 207 participants (mean age: 36.70 ± 14.79, with 77 % women) was conducted in 38 countries through an online survey administered between April and June 2020. The study utilized a pre-tested food frequency questionnaire to explore food consumption patterns both before and during the COVID-19 periods. Additionally, the study computed Food Consumption Score (FCS) as a proxy indicator for assessing the dietary diversity of households. Findings: This quantification of global, regional and national dietary diversity across 38 countries showed an increment in the consumption of all food groups but a drop in the intake of vegetables and in the dietary diversity. The household's food consumption scores indicating dietary diversity varied across regions. It decreased in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) countries, including Lebanon (p < 0.001) and increased in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries including Bahrain (p = 0.003), Egypt (p < 0.001) and United Arab Emirates (p = 0.013). A decline in the household's dietary diversity was observed in Australia (p < 0.001), in South Africa including Uganda (p < 0.001), in Europe including Belgium (p < 0.001), Denmark (p = 0.002), Finland (p < 0.001) and Netherland (p = 0.027) and in South America including Ecuador (p < 0.001), Brazil (p < 0.001), Mexico (p < 0.0001) and Peru (p < 0.001). Introduction: Vaccination during pregnancy protects both the mother and the foetus from vaccine-preventable diseases. However, uptake of the recommended vaccines (influenza, pertussis, COVID-19) by pregnant women remains low in Europe and the USA. Understanding the reasons for this is crucial to inform strategies to increase vaccination rates in pregnant women. This qualitative systematic review aimed to identify the barriers and facilitators to vaccination against influenza, pertussis/whooping cough and COVID-19 during pregnancy and identify possible strategies to increase vaccination rates. Methods: We conducted a comprehensive search of electronic databases, including Medline, PsycINFO, CINAHL, Web of Science, WHO database, Embase and grey literature to identify qualitative studies that explored barriers and facilitators to vaccine uptake among pregnant women (PROSPERO CRD42023399488). The search was limited to studies published between 2012 and 2022 conducted in high-income countries with established vaccination programmes during pregnancy. Studies were thematically analysed and underwent quality assessment using the Joanna Briggs Institute validated critical appraisal tool for qualitative research. Results: Out of 2681 articles screened, 28 studies (n = 1573 participants) were eligible for inclusion. Five overarching themes emerged relating to personal, provider and systemic factors. Barriers to vaccine uptake included concerns about vaccine safety and efficacy, lack of knowledge about vaccines' benefits and necessity, fear of adverse effects on the foetus or mother and low perception of disease severity. Facilitators included recommendations from trusted healthcare providers, easy access to vaccination, clear communication on the benefits and safety of vaccination, and positive social influences from family and friends. Strategies for increasing vaccination uptake included strong and proactive vaccine recommendations by trusted healthcare professionals, provision of vaccines during routine antenatal care, and clear and consistent communication about vaccines addressing pregnant women's concerns. Conclusion: This review highlights the need for interventions that address the identified barriers to vaccine uptake among pregnant women. Recommendation from a healthcare provider can play a significant role in promoting vaccine uptake, as can clear risk/benefit communication and convenient access to vaccination. Addressing concerns about vaccine safety and providing accurate information about vaccines is also important. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: The COVID-19 pandemic along with its confinement period boosted lifestyle modifications and impacted women and men differently which exacerbated existing gender inequalities. The main objective of this paper is to assess the gender-based differentials in food consumption patterns, dietary diversity and the determinants favoring weight change before and amid the COVID-19 pandemic among Arab men and women from 10 Arab countries. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted based on a convenience sample of 12,447 households' family members (mean age: 33.2 ± 12.9; 50.1% females) and information from participants aged 18 years and above was collected about periods before and during the pandemic. Results: Findings showed that, during the COVID-19 period, the dietary diversity, declined by 1.9% among females compared to males (0.4%) (p < 0.001) and by 1.5% among overweight participants (p < 0.001) compared to their counterparts. Conclusions: To conclude, gender-sensitive strategies and policies to address weight gain and dietary diversity during emergent shocks and pandemics are urgently needed in the region. Teknik och teknologier ,Engineering and Technology - Abstract
An important factor in the train industry is to assure a high level of safety and quality of the trains. The challenge is to satisfy passengers’ needs in terms of punctuality, safety and comfort at the lowest cost possible. To succeed a company should invest in maintenance work which will delay the equipment failure and prolong the product life-cycle of the trains. By improving the preventive maintenance work, a company will enable higher availability in traffic and have more time for corrective maintenance. The company Alstom Transport has 66 calendar hours to prepare the train for traffic when performing an A6 maintenance routine which is performed once every year on the X60 trains. The purpose of this project is to decrease the lead time of the A6 maintenance routine to at least 56 calendar hours at Alstom Transport in Älvsjö depot. This will be achieved by developing and implementing a common sequence of operations that will enable all the technicians to work according to a standard and minimize the variance in lead time. Operational improvement ideas will be developed to ameliorate the working conditions for the technicians and reduce the performance time for the most time-consuming operations. To achieve the objectives of the project, continuous observations and analysis of the current work methods have been performed. Discussions with technicians and the engineering team have complemented this analysis. A survey was held to create better understanding of the technicians’ points of view concerning the most problematic and time-consuming operations. Finally a timestudy has been performed to collect the necessary information for creating the standard sequence of operations. The operational ideas for improvement have led to better working conditions for the technicians and have decreased the total operation time for the A6 maintenance routine by 20%. Two sequences of operations have been developed during the project. The Current Sequence of Operations consist of 29 calendar hours and 104 man hours and will be implemented at the end of the project. The Future Sequence of Operations consist of 25 calendar hours and 89 man hours and will be implemented when the operational improvement ideas, developed during the project, are realized. Alstom Transport in Stockholm spends 32% of their total production time on this maintenance routine. The operational improvements developed in this project result in a 6.3% reduction of Alstom’s total production time.

Teknik och teknologier ,Engineering and Technology - Abstract
Kontinuerlig litteratursökning pågick under helaprocessen. The high competition between companies makes it increasingly important to be at thetop of a modern and technological development. This is forcing companies to focus oninnovation management by developing methods to more effectively benefit from thestaff's creativity and commitment. This is necessary to maintain a continuous andsustainable development. The purpose of this study is to create understanding of how businesses receive andevaluate technical ideas from employees. The study was initiated by obtaining a basicunderstanding of the concept of innovation. This was followed by a case study on thecompany ABB Capacitors that involved interviews and a survey that was evaluated withstatistical analysis. To compare how the department relates to other departments'innovative efforts at ABB, another interview with a supplementary survey was held atABB Breakers. Continuous literature search was conducted throughout the wholeprocess. The report discusses verbal, written and electronic communication of technical ideas.Within these methods, six channels of communication were discussed that would allowcompanies to meet all employees' preferences. ABB Capacitors has previously used theso-called “Suggestion Box,” but found that this system did not work as desired. Therefore, the department proceeded with two verbal systems. Another section analyzed how the company evaluates the staff's technical ideas todetermine whether the ideas will be concretized. This was analyzed by using threeinternational decision-making models: Six Thinking Hats, Evaluation Matrix and SWOT analysis. The choice of method depends on the scope and focus of the idea, thecompany’s culture and power distribution, as well as the company’s goals and strategy.ABB Capacitors is using Six Thinking Hats, which evaluates ideas effectively from sixdifferent perspectives. However, the employees want an improvement of the evaluationwork at the department. One potential problem is when employees do not share their ideas and thus do notparticipate enough in the innovation process. One possible solution would be for thecompany to inspire their employees to use their creativity and take advantage of theirexperiences. This can be achieved by coaching programs, business development andmotivation from the company.

- Abstract
Background: Dietary supplements (DS) use among Lebanese patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) increased widely due to the country's economic and financial situation. This study was conducted (1) to estimate the prevalence of DS use among persons with T2DM amid the escalating economic crisis in Lebanon; (2) to explore the knowledge, attitude, and practice (KAP) of DS use; and (3) to determine any significant association between socio-economic and socio-demographic factors and the use of DS modality., Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted during the worst episode of the economic crisis between October and April 2022 on 460 adult patients with T2DM of both sexes. Patients were interviewed using a pre-tested questionnaire., Results: Almost 4 out of 10 patients with T2DM in our study were found to be using DS, where 27.6% take multivitamins frequently. One-third of the participants agreed that nutritional supplements are necessary to control diabetes symptoms and complications. Around 41.1% of the participants complained about hypoglycemia and used DS to control their blood sugar levels (56.4%), while the rest used it to improve their health (35.5%) and control their diet (2.2%). The predictors of DS usage were the patient's level of education [OR=3.9, CI=1.5-10, p=0.003), self-monitoring of blood sugars (OR=4.9, CI=1.68-14.6; p=0.004) and reading the nutrition label [OR=59.3, CI=6.3-55.8, p=0.000]., Conclusion: This study estimated the prevalence of DS use and abuse, among persons with diabetes type II and found three significant predictors of DS use among patients with T2DM. Public health experts should encourage healthy discussions and awareness with their patients to comprehend their views regarding DS use., Competing Interests: No competing interests were disclosed., (Copyright: © 2024 Abdallah M et al.)

- Abstract
Background: Food literacy is capturing the attention worldwide and gaining traction in the Arab countries. Strengthening food and nutrition literacy among Arab teenagers are important promising empowering tools which can protect them from malnutrition. This study aims to assess the nutrition literacy status of adolescents with the food literacy of their parents in 10 Arab countries., Methods: This cross-sectional study involving a convenient sample of 5,401 adolescent-parent dyads (adolescents: mean age ± SD: 15.9 ± 3.0, females: 46.8%; parents: mean age ± SD: 45.0 ± 9.1, mothers: 67.8%) was launched between 29 April and 6 June 2022 in 10 Arab nations. The Adolescent Nutrition Literacy Scale (ANLS) and the Short Food Literacy Questionnaire (SFLQ) were used to meet the study aims., Results: More than one-quarter (28%) of adolescents had poor nutrition literacy, with 60% of their parents being food illiterate. The top three countries with nutritionally" less literate" adolescents were Qatar (44%), Lebanon (37.4%), and Saudi Arabia (34.9%). Adolescents' age, gender, education level, primary caregivers, employment status, and the inclusion of nutrition education in the schools' curriculum predicted the nutrition literacy levels of Arab adolescents. Besides, parental weight status, health status, parent's food literacy level, and the number of children per household were significant determinants too. Adolescents studying at a university and having parents with adequate food literacy had the highest odds of being nutritionally literate (OR = 4.5, CI = 1.8-11.5, p = 0.001, OR = 1.8, CI = 1.6-2.1, p < 0.001, respectively)., Conclusion: Nutrition literacy inadequacy among Arab adolescents is a prioritized challenge to be tackled., Competing Interests: The authors declare that the research was conducted in the absence of any commercial or financial relationships that could be construed as a potential conflict of interest., (Copyright © 2023 Hoteit, Mansour, Mohsen, Bookari, Hammouh, Allehdan, AlKazemi, Al Sabbah, Benkirane, Kamel, Qasrawi, Tayyem and the regional food literacy group.)

- Abstract
The COVID-19 pandemic has revealed the Eastern Mediterranean Region's food system's fragility posing severe challenges to maintaining healthy sustainable lifestyle. The aim of this cross-sectional study ( N = 13,527 household's family members, mean age: 30.3 ±11.6, 80% women) is to examine the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on food consumption patterns and household's dietary diversity in 10 Eastern Mediterranean countries. A food frequency questionnaire was used to investigate the consumption patterns along with the calculation of the Food Consumption Score (FCS), a proxy indicator of dietary diversity. Data collected on cooking attitudes, shopping and food stock explore the community mitigation measures. In the overall population, before and during the pandemic, most food groups were consumed less or equal to 4 times per week. As evident from our findings and considering that the pandemic may be better, but it's not over, small to moderate changes in food consumption patterns in relatively short time periods can become permanent and lead to substantial poor dietary diversity over time. While it is a priority to mitigate the immediate impact, one area of great concern is the long-term effects of this pandemic on dietary patterns and dietary diversity in Eastern Mediterranean households. To conclude, the COVID-19 crisis revealed the region's unpreparedness to deal with a pandemic. While the aggressive containment strategy was essential for most countries to help prevent the spread, it came at a high nutritional cost, driving poor dietary diversity., Competing Interests: The authors declare that the research was conducted in the absence of any commercial or financial relationships that could be construed as a potential conflict of interest., (Copyright © 2022 Hoteit, Mortada, Al-Jawaldeh, Mansour, Yazbeck, AlKhalaf, Bookari, Tayyem, Al-Awwad, Al Sabbah, Cheikh Ismail, Qasrawi, Abu Seir, Kamel, Dashti, Allehdan, Al-Mannai, Bawadi, Waly and The Regional CORONA COOKING Survey Group.)
