The article examines the features of social security for military personnel in the State of Israel. In particular, it highlights the relevance of this issue for scientific research and practical application in the current historical realities of Ukraine. The aim of the article is to analyze the characteristics of social security for military personnel in the State of Israel. The subject of the study is the features of the social security system for Israeli military personnel, including its principles, structure, main benefits and services, as well as sources of funding. The scientific novelty of the research lies in the comprehensive analysis of the features of social security for Israeli military personnel, taking into account the latest changes in this field. Over the years of its development, the social security system for Israeli military personnel has become one of the most advanced in the world, making it a special object for scientific research, especially in the context of the full-scale war unfolding in Ukraine. The social security of Israeli military personnel is comprehensive and covers various areas. The article examines the principles of the social security system for Israeli military personnel, such as compulsory service, universality, targeted assistance, and funding. Significant attention is paid to analyzing the structure of this system, highlighting its main components and directions, which include state civil insurance, military social insurance, and social services. The article discusses the features of Israeli military personnel receiving benefits and free services related to medical care, housing, food, education, etc. It also outlines the directions and sources of funding for this budgetary sector in Israel. The key features of the Israeli social security system for military personnel are compared with the Ukrainian system. Special attention is given to the key features of veteran social protection, specifically for military personnel with the status of "discharged soldier," "active reservist," "discharged soldier with a disability," and "wounded soldier." The article also addresses the issue of providing appropriate social protection for the families of deceased military personnel. Adverse childhood experiences are traumatic early life experiences that can lead to poorer mental, physical, and social outcomes. Children in military and veteran families can face unique challenges compared with civilian families. This study utilizes data from 2017–2019 National Survey of Children's Health to examine 56,655 children living in military, veteran, and civilian families to predict the prevalence of adverse childhood experiences. Findings indicate that children living in veteran families (compared with civilian families) have higher odds of witnessing parents use violence and witnessing parents with alcohol or substance use problems. Children in military families had higher odds of divorce and lower odds of experiencing parental death. It is also noted that children living in military, veteran, and civilian families are similar across other ACEs including the incarceration of a parent, child as victim of violence, living with family with mental illness, unfair treatment because of race, and difficulty covering basics like food and housing. Introduction: Mental health conditions (i.e. depression or anxiety) are the most common complication of pregnancy and childbirth in the United States (U.S.) and are associated with increased maternal and infant morbidity and mortality. Research has demonstrated a relationship between stress and mental health diagnoses in pregnancy; therefore, it is concerning that military families face unique challenges which contribute to additional stressors among spouses of active-duty (AD) military personnel during the perinatal period. The objective of this scoping review was to understand the current state of research on perinatal stress or perinatal mental health among American spouses of AD military personnel. Methods: The Boolean phrase was created in consultation with 2 health science librarians and the following databases searched in October 2023: PubMed, Embase, Military and Government Collection, CINAHL, and PsychINFO. 2 reviewers identified 481 studies for screening once duplicates were removed. After applying inclusion and exclusion criteria, 21 studies remained for data extraction and analysis. Results: Most of the studies were quantitative, took place in the southern U.S., and the most represented military branch was Air Force. Most of the studies included both AD military members and AD spouses; 28% focused solely on AD spouses. Samples were not racially diverse, and findings identified racial disparities in perinatal mental health conditions. There was a wide variety in outcome measures, including the following general categories: (1) stress, anxiety, and/or depression, (2) maternal-infant attachment, (3) group prenatal care, and (4) deployment focus. Our review identified the following concepts: spouses most at risk for perinatal mental health conditions, the need for perinatal mental health screening, and the need for social support. Conclusions: Findings from the identified studies indicate a need for additional research in this area. Additionally, findings highlight circumstances unique to this population that result in an increased risk of stress and/or mental health conditions during the perinatal period. Such challenges demand improved mental health screening and additional resources for this population. Meeting the needs of this unique population also requires significant funding and policy change to allow for increased access to mental health resources and to ensure the health of the birthing person and infant. Introduction: The influence of deployments on family relationships has hardly been investigated. Following a recently proposed new research strategy, military personnel with and without deployment-related life-threatening military incidents during deployment were compared. The hypothesis was that partner and family relationships of military personnel who experienced such an event would deteriorate more. Methods: This study included N = 255 military personnel who had a romantic partner (n = 78 of them had children) when deployed to Afghanistan. Of these, n = 68 military personnel experienced a deployment-related critical event during the deployment, n = 187 did not. Partnership quality was assessed using a semi-structured pre- and post-deployment interview. Results: The partner relationships of military personnel who experienced a deployment-related life-threatening military incident during deployment broke up significantly more often. The partner relationships of all military personnel deteriorated significantly, with greater deterioration after deployment in the group who faced such incidents. These results were independent of age, rank or number of previous deployments. In addition, there was a significant deterioration in the relationships between all military personnel and their children with greater deterioration after deployment in the group who faced such incidents. Conclusion: Life-threatening military incidents during a deployment abroad appear to have a considerable influence on the quality and stability of the partner and family relationships of military personnel. This article explores the complicated process of post-deployment homecoming in military families in Denmark. Based on qualitative interviews with spouses and children of formerly deployed soldiers, the article analyses some of the main challenges related to homecoming and military-to-family transitions in military families. It illuminates how deployment affects family practices and social relations by especially focusing on gender equality, fatherhood, and masculinity. Based on interviews with spouses and children, the article outlines three masculinity positions available to Danish homecoming veterans: gender equality masculinities, militarized masculinities, and troubled masculinities. "Jungle Heart of the Khmer Rouge: The Memoirs of Phi Phuon, Pol Pot's Aide-de-Camp, and the Role of Ratanakiri and Its Tribal Minorities on the Cambodian Revolution" is a book that tells the story of Phi Phuon, a member of the Jarai upland ethnic minority who joined Cambodia's communist revolution in the 1960s and served as a bodyguard and aide to the Khmer Rouge leaders. The book also includes a contextual analysis by Henri Locard, which proposes that the highland minorities played a significant role in the creation of the Khmer Rouge regime. The book provides insights into the Khmer Rouge era and the highland cultures of Cambodia. However, readers should approach Phi Phuon's narrative with caution, as he was a willing participant in the atrocities committed by the Khmer Rouge. Locard's revisionist history of the regime also has its limitations, as he has a compromised relationship with his subject and makes errors in his analysis. A recent scoping review indicated military-connected children face stressors that may increase mental health issues. However, the majority of the included literature was American. To examine the experiences of Canadian military-connected children, we conducted in-depth interviews with a purposive sample of Canadian military-connected youth using a qualitative description approach. We conducted a content analysis on interview data, supported by qualitative data analysis software (MAXQDA), with coding done by two researchers who met regularly to discuss coding agreement. Thirteen children in military families participated and described the mental health impact of frequent mobility, parental absence, and risk of parental injury. The experiences of our participants were consistent with the results of an earlier scoping review on this topic. Our results suggest improving military cultural competence among health care providers and enhancing parental support may positively impact child well-being. Scholars have described a divide between military and civilian culture, often focusing on the relationship between civilian communities and the Armed Forces and its veterans. Equally important are the families of military personnel. News media are an important source of information about military society for many U.S. civilians. This study examined how three types of news publications portrayed military families on Twitter between 2010 and 2020. News content was drawn from 21 outlets that cater to (1) general audiences, (2) military communities, and (3) military personnel. News outlets often associated military families with terms related to hardship, including substandard housing, financial problems, and other issues. In 1,052 posts, news outlets used five frames to describe military families: hardship, support, education, honor, and politics. General news outlets focused on politics, covering PR events staged by politicians. This article explores the experiences of immigrants in the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) and the challenges they face in terms of immigration and integration. The research team conducted interviews with immigrant soldiers, highlighting the importance of social relations and social capital in their military careers. The study reveals different pathways to joining the CAF and discusses the difficulties faced by white, English-speaking military personnel who immigrated to Canada. The text also emphasizes the need for better support and more transparent recruitment processes to promote diversity in the CAF. The purpose of this article is to analyze the ecosystem of a military family, focusing on the risk factors that influence their health and well-being on various socioecological levels (individual, micro, meso, and macro). We develop a theoretical model of health outcomes and risk factors and test it empirically using quota sampling of 460 respondents from military families in Slovenia. Thirty-three regression models were calculated to measure the impact of theoretically defined risk factors on the health outcomes of military families. Surprisingly, a long daily commute, one of the most military-specific factors in Slovenian society, is viewed more positively than negatively. Moreover, risk factors related to the family on the micro and individual levels, such as poor financial situation or parental stress, are responsible for the greatest impact on military family health. In this research, the opinions about family and values of public administration representatives were examined. Based on online questionnaires, the research sample included 428 civil servants and scientists from various ministries, faculties, schools, libraries, institutes, and municipalities. Opinions in the form of classified data for civil servants were converted into numerical data and presented in networks. It is possible to illustrate various scenarios about diverse types of decision-making processes, within which either feminine or masculine value emphases predominate. The present study has opened an interesting area of research on hierarchical associative networks of family and values. Researching such networks, whether they concern individuals, families, or diverse societies, could support us to improve various decision-making models. Hierarchical associative value networks will play a meaningful role in decision-making in a variety of ways and the upcoming development of the family. Future research could go in the direction of measuring and analyzing hierarchical associative networks of values in specific families and other social environments like within e.g., health, police, industry, military. This would provide an excellent insight into the mental concepts of people and across different social zones (e.g., migration zone, cultural zone, industrial zone, trade zone, government zone). Objective: The present study examined military families' use of food distribution resources and military (e.g. rank) and non-military (e.g. race/ethnicity) characteristics associated with using food distribution resources. Design: Secondary data analyses from a cross-sectional survey in the first 6 months of 2021. Setting: A national sample of eligible families completed an online survey. Participants: 8326 enlisted military families with an active duty service member in the United States Army or Air Force who applied for supplemental childcare funding distributed by National Military Family Association. Results: 13·2 % of the families reported utilising a food distribution resource in the past 12 months. Those with lower financial well-being were more likely to utilise such resources. Older (OR = 1·04, 95 % CI = 1·02, 1·05, P < 0·001), single-earner (OR = 0·73, 95 % CI = 0·61, 0·89, P = 0·001) families with a lower rank (OR = 0·69, 95 % CI = 0·64, 0·75, P < 0·001) and Army affiliation (compared with Air Force) (OR = 2·31, 95 % CI = 2·01, 2·67, P < 0·001) were more likely to utilise food distribution resources. Members of certain racial/ethnic minority groups were more likely to utilise food distribution resources than White respondents (OR from 1·47 for multi-racial to 1·69 for Asians), as were families with more dependent children (OR = 1·35, 95 % CI = 1·25, 1·47, P < 0·001). Conclusions: These results identify the extent of food distribution resource utilisation in military families with young children approximately 1 year into the COVID-19 pandemic. The results also identify characteristics associated with their use of food distribution resources. Objectives: Access to palliative care is limited, especially in rural India. Children needing care by palliative teams may themselves be patients, or siblings and children of patients. Armed forces families face characteristic lifestyle challenges -- frequent transfers, living in difficult and remote areas, serving personnel staying apart from families for long periods -- very different from issues faced by civilians. Military service increases the risk of psychosocial burden for serving personnel as well as families. Most depend on private and state medical services for palliative care so it is important for the palliative community to understand their issues. This study aimed to explore the issues related to children -- faced by armed forces families when caring for patients in palliative care. Material and Methods: Qualitative study based on thematic analysis of semi-structured interviews with caregivers -- either serving personnel or their dependents, in three centres. Results: Analysis of the 15 interviews showed that armed forces families face complex challenges related to children when caring for the palliative patient due to frequent movement, lack of paediatric palliative services in far-flung areas, disruption of the continuity of care, social isolation, language, and cultural barriers when living in non-native areas, inability to build and access family and community support and financial burden due to restrictive reimbursement policies. Conclusion: Although medical and administrative support within the organisation provides a cushion, wives have to manage alone in the father's prolonged absence, and safety is a concern for children when living outside the campuses and serving personnel report guilt, anger, and helplessness at not being present when needed. Hidden corrosion remains a significant problem during aircraft service, primarily because of difficulties in its detection and assessment. The non-destructive D-Sight testing technique is characterized by high sensitivity to this type of damage and is an effective sensing tool for qualitative assessments of hidden corrosion in aircraft structures used by numerous ground service entities. In this paper, the authors demonstrated a new approach to the automatic quantification of hidden corrosion based on image processing D-Sight images during periodic inspections. The performance of the developed processing algorithm was demonstrated based on the results of the inspection of a Mi family military helicopter. The nondimensional quantitative measurement introduced in this study confirmed the effectiveness of this evaluation of corrosion progression, which was in agreement with the results of qualitative analysis of D-Sight images made by inspectors. This allows for the automation of the inspection process and supports inspectors in evaluating the extent and progression of hidden corrosion. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This descriptive phenomenological study focused on counselor educators' (CESs) experiences infusing military culture into counseling curriculum. Specifically, this study sought to learn what counseling programs can do to best prepare counselors-in-training to work with military families. The researchers used the McCracken (1988) method to interview ten participants who had terminal degrees in counselor education or a highly related field, experience providing services to military-connected clients, and were aware of military cultural facets (e.g., implicit and explicit expectations, rules, and ways of being). The findings support the need to redefine multiculturalism and intentional infusion of military culture in counseling curriculum to increase counselors' awareness of military culture to provide more effective services. The military issue has always been a concern in the foreign policy of the states, and the continuous progress made in the various military fields, as well as the increasingly significant tendency of military diplomacy to be involved in the maintenance of international peace and security, led to the need to use military experts within diplomatic missions, from specialists in the field to permanent advisers to the heads of permanent or temporary diplomatic missions. The history of military attachés dates to the early 19th century when European countries began sending military observers to foreign capitals to monitor military developments and gather intelligence about the accredited state. Military attachés are members of the army of the accrediting state and head the military offices of the respective diplomatic missions, being, in principle, hierarchically subordinate, regardless of rank, to the head of the diplomatic mission. However, this subordination does not prevent the military from communicating directly with the ministries regarding strict military issues, especially those that refer to military secrets. The period after the First World War, along with the development of Romanian diplomacy, was recorded as the strengthening of the institution of the military attachment, having a special contribution to the implementation of the country's military policy. The events taking place in Ukraine have greatly aggravated not only the issue of ensuring the combat capability and functioning of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military formations, but also significantly actualized in society the issue of social and legal protection of servicemen and their family members. The purpose of the article is to investigate the social guarantees of family members of military personnel in the field of social protection in today's realities and to identify ways to solve problematic issues. The definition of the legal category "social guarantees of family members of military personnel" is provided (as defined in the current legislation and supported by an appropriate financial base, social security indicators that manifest as appropriate constructions of subjective rights in the field of social security, quantitative and qualitative characteristics of social payments, benefits, benefits, advantages developed taking into account the actual state of social relations and in accordance with the requirements of international standards in order to ensure a decent standard of living of members of military servicemen's families) and the essential legal features and features of social guarantees of military servicemen's family members are highlighted. It is noted that today the social protection of family members of military personnel in the conditions of armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine is gaining special importance. Because ensuring their enhanced social protection contributes to the fulfillment by military personnel of their duty to protect Ukraine, its sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity. It has been established that the state is already taking certain steps in this direction, but there are many issues that need immediate resolution. In particular, analyzing the normative legal acts of Ukraine, which reveal the essence of providing social guarantees for members of military servicemen's families, it is noted that they do not take into account the current standard of living and costs, in contrast to foreign countries, where this issue is given considerable attention. In particular, in order to ensure social guarantees, most countries of the world implement a whole set of state measures aimed at ensuring a decent standard of living and a satisfactory well-being of members of military servicemen's families. It was concluded that the regulatory and legal settlement of the issues of providing social guarantees for members of military servicemen's families should be based on international standards, provided that the domestic specificity of the social security system is preserved. Populations are subjected to climatic uncertainties, the predictions of which are major challenges for the scientific community. This study analyzes indigenous climate event prediction and adaptation based on indigenous knowledge in North Benin. A sample of 80 holders of indigenous knowledge of prediction of climate events was selected using snowball sampling in the district of Gogonou. Data were collected during semi-structured interviews with the indigenous knowledge holders. Data included the profile of the knowledge holders, climate events and their prediction signs, and the planned responses in the face of climate events. Data were analyzed using discourse analysis and descriptive statistics. The results showed that the holders of indigenous knowledge of prediction of climate events are agropastoralists and some of their wives. They are over 60 years old and rooted in traditional religion. Climate events predicted were floods, pockets of drought, early cessation of rains, and invasion of fields by caterpillars. These climate events are predicted from animal, vegetable, and nature behaviors. The responses developed in the face of climate events are mainly the relocation of fields to firm land, the use of drought-tolerant varieties, the relocation of planting periods, and the planning of the suspension of children's schooling for spreading and planting operations. These findings demonstrate the necessity for policymakers to consider the value of indigenous knowledge to reduce the e􀀀ects of climate change. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective: This study aimed to estimate the effects of the built, social, and economic environments on adolescent obesity and related behaviors. Methods: Exploiting quasi‐exogenous variation in military families' geographic location, this study estimated intent‐to‐treat models of the association between the assigned installation's county environments and adolescents' (mean age 13.5 years) self‐reported and model‐corrected BMI, overweight or obesity status, and self‐reported diet and exercise. Three indices for the built, social, and economic environments characterized county‐level environments (higher value implies more advantageous environments) based on 19 indicators. Multivariate linear and logistic models were estimated on the full sample (N = 1111) and on subsamples with greater exposure based on time (n = 682) and off‐installation residence (n = 604). Results: Exposure to more advantageous built environments for more than 2 years was associated with lower probabilities of obesity (−0.18; 95% CI: −0.34 to −0.026) and overweight or obesity (−0.34; 95% CI: −0.56 to −0.12) and was associated with lower BMI z scores (−0.76; 95% CI: −1.45 to −0.02). Results for adolescents living off‐installation were similar. More advantageous built environments were also associated with lower consumption of unhealthy foods, but not with physical activity. Social and economic environments were not associated with any outcomes. Conclusions: The built environment, but not social and economic environments, was a strong predictor of adolescents' BMI, overweight or obesity status, and eating behaviors. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The article examines the role of military chaplaincy in the formation of national-patriotic education of the Ukrainian army. The relevance and novelty of the research lies in determining the essence of Ukrainian military patriotism's spiritual foundations, which is formed on the archetypes of "clan", "Father", "Mother", "Family". Historically, "Father" embodies power, dominion not only over the body, but also over the soul, he brings conscience and moral grounds for subordination in the entire military family, based on the principles of fraternity. The archetype of "Mother" was formed from ancient Slavic ideas about Berehynia, in the Christian era it receives a new incarnation in the image of the Mother of God as the heavenly protector of the entire human race. One of a woman-mother archetype's varieties in Ukrainian spiritual culture is Mother Nature, which transforms into the archetype of Mother Earth, which in turn is transferred to the paradigm of the native land - "Nenka-Ukraina", creating the archetype of the Motherland. The lack of desire to conquer others and the desire to preserve one's original, native, defines the essence of the Ukrainian army's patriotism. It has been established that the Orthodox tradition of military chaplaincy is based on the spiritual union of Cossacks and monasticism during the liberation struggle. Later, the formation of the Ukrainian military clergy was closely connected with the Greek Catholic Church, which at that time had the greatest experience in moral and spiritual support of the Ukrainian national liberation struggle participants in the western Ukrainian lands. The dangers of the destructive influence of pro-Russian denominations' priests on the moral and psychological state of military personnel are analyzed. It was noted that the armed aggression against Ukraine led to the intensified use of the church and the clergy's potential for consolidation of the population and strengthening of patriotic feelings in servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as well as to expose and isolate pro-Russian religious communities. On the basis of the positive experience of the leading world's countries, an own system of professional training and education of personnel was created, which was based on defining principles: national dignity, patriotism, Christian morality, fidelity to the oath, fidelity to military duty. Background: For the first time, we aimed to determine the epidemiology and associated factors of obesity and hypertension among children of military families in our region. Methods: In this multi-centered study, children between the ages of 5 to 12 years old, entered the study. Data on baseline and clinical characteristics, history of disease and anthropometric measurements, were collected. Results: Among 504 children, 44.2% were males. Mean (SD) age of participants was 7.9 ± 1.9 years. Overall, 5% were obese and 9.9% were overweight. In total, 16.3% had elevated BP, 12.5% had stage one and 0.2% had stage two hypertension. Age (beta = 0.306, OR = 1.35, 95% CI:1.14—1.61), obesity/overweight (OR = 5.58, 95% CI:2.59—12.0), history of hypertension in mother (OR = 43.24, 95% CI:5.99—312.11), low birth weight (OR = 7.96, 95% CI:2.59—12.0), physical activity (OR = 0.27, 95% CI:0.10—0.72), and consumption of fast food more than once a week (OR = 3.36, 95% CI:1.82—6.19), were associated with risk of hypertension. Furthermore, age (beta = 0.346, OR = 1.41, 95% CI:1.21—1.64), history of childhood obesity in the father (OR = 3.78, 95% CI: 1.77—8.06) and mother (OR = 2.44, 95% CI:1.07—5.56), and physical activity (OR = 0.27, 95% CI:0.11—0.66), were associated with obesity. Conclusion: Age, obesity/overweight, history of hypertension in the mother, birth weight, physical activity, and consumption of fast food, were associated with risk of hypertension. Moreover, age, history of childhood obesity in parents, and physical activity, were associated with obesity. Furthermore, we found that school-age children in military families have higher rates of hypertension and overweight compared to other reports from our region. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study investigates the role of work-life balance in a recent relocation decision made by the Swedish Armed Forces. Applying the "What is the problem represented to be?" (WPR) discourse analysis method to documents concerning budget submissions over a five-year period (2020–2024) and a relocation decision from 2017, this study identifies a common focus on the reduction of organizational vulnerability. The way the problem of organizational vulnerability is presented, however, neglects considerations of employees' work-life balance and serves to make effects of organizational changes at the individual level invisible. Founded on a social constructivist perspective, the study therefore argues that this neglect of work-life balance in official discourse on organizational change may be counterproductive to the proposed aim of a reduction in organizational vulnerability. We examined posttraumatic growth for 691 participants of the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS). Peer mentors of bereaved individuals experienced greater posttraumatic growth (PTG) and reported higher psychological health than those who were non-peer mentors. Active involvement in TAPS and resilience consistently and positively predicted all types of PTG. These prediction models were far stronger (R², AIC) for the suicide-bereaved sample than those bereaved by other causes, and post-hoc analyses suggest suicide-bereaved benefitted more than those bereaved by other causes from active participation in TAPS. The COVID-19 pandemic has drastically impacted administration of healthcare including well-child visits and routine vaccinations. The purpose of this study was to determine the impact of COVID-19 pandemic disruption on childhood health maintenance: well-child visits and scheduled vaccinations. We queried the TRICARE Management Activity's Military Health System (MHS) database for outpatient well-child visits and vaccinations for all children 0 to 23 months of age eligible for TRICARE healthcare. The median rate of well-child visits, during the COVID-19 period (March 2020–July 2021), was significantly declined for all demographic groups: all ages, parental military ranks, sex, and regions as compared to the pre-COVID-19 period (February 2019–February 2020). Similar to rates of well-child visits, the rate of vaccinations declined during the COVID-19 period as compared to the pre-COVID-19 period for all demographic groups, except children 12–23 months. Rates of well-child visits for military dependent children under 2 years of age were decreased during the 16 month COVID-19 period, with large increases seen in the first 2 months of the pandemic; the consequences of missed well-child visits and vaccination are unknown. Health insurance coverage is associated with outcomes in cystic fibrosis (CF). A fraction of individuals in the United States are covered through Tricare, a federally funded program for military members and their dependents. The role of Tricare on CF health outcomes is unknown. Using a retrospective CF Foundation Patient Registry cohort born 2000–2011, insurance status was defined as any Tricare (n = 328) with reference groups of always private (n = 3,455) and exclusively public (n = 2,669) during the first 6 years of life. Subjects with Tricare coverage attended more CF care centers and lived in more zip codes by age 6 than their counterparts. BMI did not differ between groups. Subjects with Tricare had a higher FEV 1 at age 6 compared to those with always public insurance. Overall, outcomes for those with Tricare insurance appeared more similar to those with always private insurance. The article aims to investigate the aspects of family relationships in contemporary prose about the Russo-Ukrainian war (with a focus on the 2014-2021 period of the ongoing war). The novels Daughter (2019) by Tamara Horikha Zernia, The Orphanage (2017) by Serhiy Zhadan and Amadoka (2020) by Sofia Andrukhovych are interpreted through the methodological lens of memory, trauma and resilience studies. Using Tamara Hundorova’s concept of the post-Chornobyl library, the author tries to approach the theorisation of (post-)traumatic writing about the war. The analysis of the novels highlights the intersections between family frames and memory of political violence. These texts suggest that family can foster both discontinuity and resilience. Finally, working through a difficult past and bearing witness to the challenging present presupposes memory of the Russo-Ukrainian war in the future. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The purpose of the research is to reveal the process of formation of the system of land holdings in the starostvo of Oster in the second half of the sixteenth - early seventeenth centuries. The research methodology was based on the use of problem-chronological, historicalgenetic, historical-comparative and logical-theoretical methods. The problem-chronological method involves the systematization of facts in chronological order, which allows us to reconstruct historical events in the light of causation. The historical-genetic approach has allowed us to highlight the regional specificity of the formation of the system of land tenure in the starostvo of Oster. The use of a historical-comparative approach made it possible to reconstruct the evolution of social and economic relations, in particular, to consider land claims in the region on a chronological and territorial basis. The scientific novelty attempt was made to comprehensively reconstruct the process of formation of a system of land holdings in starostvo of Oster in the second half of the sixteenth - early of the seventeenth century. Conclusions. In the second half of the sixteenth - early seventeenth centuries the formation of the system of land tenures in starostvo of Oster (Kyiv Voivodship) continued. The largest tracts of land were distributed by the starosta Lavrin and Mykhailo Ratomski. The establishment of settlements, most of which were granted by law, were directly dependent on the needs of the military organization of the region. During this period a significant influx of nobles from Volyn and Kyiv region was recorded. The active penetration of the Polish aristocracy began only at the beginning of the seventeenth century. The emotional cycle of deployment theorized by Logan and adapted by Pincus, House, Christenson, and Alder is often applied by academics and military support agencies to define, explain, and provide advice on the experiences and possible emotional reactions of military families during phases of deployment. Interviews with army partners showed that spatiotemporal experiences and perspectives are more complex than those afforded by the emotional cycle of deployment. This article argues that applying the concept of liminality uncovers some of this complexity, illuminating the in-between times experienced during deployments that are otherwise hidden. Army partners move through and between deployments and deployment phases haunted by specters of past and future deployments. By disrupting seemingly chronological and discrete spatiotemporal narratives, which often frame research on military families and deployment, this article demonstrates how army partners move through and between deployments and deployment stages negotiating past and future deployments. It shows how they continuously adapt and evolve practices while negotiating interpreted pasts and imagined futures in pursuit of becoming "ideal." [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The article presents the lessons learned from planned relocations in Fiji, where 48 villages have been identified as requiring relocation due to climate-related circumstances. Fiji has developed guidelines based on its experience in relocation planning and offers guidance to other states facing similar challenges. Active participation of those affected and the availability of funding are key factors for the success of relocations. Fiji has created a Climate Relocation and Displaced Persons Trust Fund to finance future relocations, and emphasizes the importance of adapting relocations to the needs of each community and ensuring the participation and consent of affected individuals.
