5. Synergistical Electroluminescent Manipulation for Efficient Blue Perovskite Light-Emitting Diodes Through Interfacial Nucleation Seeding

Abstract

The low efficiency of metal halide perovskite light-emitting diodes (PeLEDs) with blue emission block their potential applications in large-area full-color displays and solid-state lighting. A delicate control over the entire electroluminescence process is indispensable to overcome the efficiency limitations of blue PeLEDs. Here, we demonstrate an efficient device architecture to synergistically reduce the energetic losses during electron-photon conversion and boost the extraction of trapped light in the device. An interfacial nucleation seeding scheme is proposed to control the crystallization process of highly emissive perovskite nanocrystals and suppress the trap-mediated non-radiative recombination losses due to interfacial hydrogen bonding interactions. This manipulation results in a record external quantum efficiency (EQE) of 12.8% for blue PeLEDs emitting at 486 nm, along with the improved spectral stability and operation lifetime. Additionally, the maximum EQE reaches 16.8% after combining an internal outcoupling structure without spectral distortion, which can be further raised to 27.5% when using a lens-based structure on top of the device. We anticipate that our work provides an effective method for its application in high-performance PeLEDs.

Abstract

Thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) emitters with aggregation-induced emission (AIE) features are hot candidates for non-doped organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs), as they are highly emissive in solid states upon photoexcitation. Nevertheless, not every AIE-TADF emitter in the past had guaranteed decent efficiencies in non-doped devices, indicating that the AIE character alone does not necessarily afford ideal non-doped TADF emitters. As intermolecular electron-exchange interaction that involves long-lived triplet excitons plays a dominant role in the whole quenching process of TADF, we anticipate that it is the main reason for the different electroluminescence performances of AIE-TADF emitters. Therefore, in this work, we designed two TADF emitters SPBP-DPAC and SPBP-SPAC by modifying a reported less successful emitter BP-DPAC with extra fluorenes to increase intermolecular distances and attenuate this electron-exchange interaction. With the fluorene lock as steric hindrance, SPBP-DPAC and SPBP-SPAC exhibit significantly higher exciton utilization in non-doped films due to the suppressed concentration quenching. The non-doped OLEDs based on SPBP-DPAC and SPBP-SPAC show an excellent maximum external quantum efficiency (EQE) of 22.8% and 21.3% respectively, and whats even more promising is that ignorable roll-offs at practical brightness (e.g., 1000 and 5000 cd m-2) were realized. These results reveal that locking the phenyl rings as steric hindrance can not only enhance the molecular rigidity, but also cause immediate relief of concentration quenching, and result in significant performance improvement under non-doped conditions. Our approach proposes a feasible molecular modification strategy for AIE-TADF emitters, potentially increasing their applicability in OLEDs.

Abstract

The intestinal barrier system protects the human body from harmful factors, by continuously renewing the intestinal epithelium, tight junctions and enteric microbes. However, dietary fat can harm the intestinal epithelial barrier enhancing gut permeability. In recent years, Apolipoprotein A-I has attracted much attention because of its anti-inflammatory properties. Numerous studies have demonstrated that Apolipoprotein A-I can regulate mucosal immune cells, inhibit the progression of inflammation, promote epithelial proliferation and repair, and maintain physical barrier function; it can also regulate angiogenesis, thereby improving local circulation. This article is intended to elucidate the mechanism by which Apolipoprotein A-I improves intestinal barrier damage caused by dietary fat and to review the role of Apolipoprotein A-I in maintaining intestinal homeostasis. Abstract

Plasmonic metal electrodes with subwavelength nanostructures are promising for enhancing light harvesting in photovoltaics. However, the nonradiative damping of surface plasmon polaritons (SPPs) during coupling with sunlight results in the conversion of the excited hot-electrons to heat, which limits the absorption of light and generation of photocurrent. Herein, an energy recycling strategy driven by hot-electron emission for recycling the SPP energy trapped in the plasmonic electrodes is proposed. A transparent silver-based plasmonic metal electrode (A-PME) with a periodic hexagonal nanopore array is constructed, which is combined with a luminescent organic emitter for radiative recombination of the injected hot-electrons. Owing to the suppressed SPP energy loss via broadband hot-electron emission, the A-PME achieves an optimized optical transmission with an average transmittance of over 80% from 380 to 1200 nm. Xingcheng City, in Liaoning Province, is one of the advantageous apple production regions in the Bohai Bay area, where apple industry has greatly promoted rural revitalization. Studying the spatial distribution characteristics of soil fertility plays the basis role for realizing scientific fertilization in orchards and promoting high-quality development. Through the research on the spatial distribution and profile distribution of soil nutrients in apple orchards in Xingcheng, the data set of soil nutrient in 2019 was obtained, including soil pH, EC, SOM, TSN, AHN, AP, AK, ACa, AMg in soil layers 0-30 cm. Users can obtain the database by phone or email, or contact the Research Institute of Pomology, CAAS. The establishment and sharing of the dataset of soil nutrient characteristics of apple orchard in 2019 in Xingcheng can support the research for the distribution of soil nutrient, providing the theoretical basis for scientific fertilization, orchard soil fertility and fruit quality improvement. 49. Chromosome-level genome assembly of Cylas formicariusprovides insights into its adaptation and invasion mechanisms

Abstract

Cylas formicariusis one of the most important pests of sweet potato worldwide, causing considerable ecological and economic damage. This study improved the effect of comprehensive management and understanding of genetic mechanisms by examining the functional genomics of C. formicarius. Using Illumina and PacBio sequencing, this study obtained a chromosome-level genome assembly of adult weevils from lines inbred for 15 generations. The high-quality assembly obtained was 338.84 Mb, with contig and scaffold N50 values of 14.97 and 34.23 Mb, respectively. In total, 157.51 Mb of repeat sequences and 11 907 protein-coding genes were predicted. A total of 337.06 Mb of genomic sequences was located on the 11 chromosomes, accounting for 99.03% of the total length of the associated chromosome. Comparative genomic analysis showed that C. formicariuswas sister to Dendroctonus ponderosae, and C. formicariusdiverged from D. ponderosaeapproximately 138.89 million years ago (Mya). Many important gene families expanded in the C. formicariusgenome were involved in the detoxification of pesticides, tolerance to cold stress and chemosensory system. To further study the role of odorant-binding proteins (OBPs) in olfactory recognition of C. formicarius, the binding assay results indicated that CforOBP4–6 had strong binding affinities for sex pheromones and other ligands. The high-quality C. formicariusgenome provides a valuable resource to reveal the molecular ecological basis, genetic mechanism, and evolutionary process of major agricultural pests; it also offers new ideas and new technologies for ecologically sustainable pest control.
