Previous studies were controversial about the role of psychosocial factors in the pathogenesis of esophageal cancer (EC). This study aimed to systematically evaluate the effect size of psychosocial risk factors for EC in Chinese cohort. A literature search was conducted in both English and Chinese databases, and odds ratios (OR) with the corresponding 95% confidence intervals (CI) were pooled using a random-effects model. 28 studies were identified with a total of 6951 EC cases and 7469 controls. The meta-analysis indicated a higher risk of EC among the individuals with psychological trauma (OR: 2.36, 95% CI: 1.71–3.26), Type A behavior (OR: 1.40, 95% CI: 1.17–1.67), depression (OR: 4.00, 95% CI: 2.44–6.55), melancholy (OR: 2.06, 95% CI: 1.32–3.20), always in sulks (OR: 2.49, 95% CI: 1.21–5.12), and irritable personality (OR: 2.13, 95% CI: 1.58–2.89). A lower EC risk was found in the individuals with good interpersonal relationship (OR: 0.35, 95% CI: 0.17–0.70) and outgoing personality (OR: 0.39, 95% CI: 0.19–0.78). This meta-analysis suggested a potential association between psychosocial factors and EC risk. For the individuals with psychosocial risk factors, physicians should pay more attention to EC screening.

Summary: Background: The use of antibiotics is considered a major determinant of the development of resistance in organisms. This study assessed current patterns of antibiotic prescription and provides background for quality improvement in general hospitals in Hubei, China. Methods: A point-prevalence study was performed in November 2008. All inpatients on the day of the survey were included in the analysis. Results: On the day of the study, 6904 patients (56%) were receiving antibiotic therapy; the highest rate occurred in the ICU (90%), and the lowest occurred in the medical wards (39%). The most commonly used antibiotics were β-lactam antibiotics, including cephalosporins (40%) and piperacillin (19%), followed by fluoroquinolones (14%). Conclusions: Our data indicated a high rate of antibiotic use in Chinese hospitals. These findings suggest important areas for intervention and the implementation of antibiotic stewardship policies in Chinese hospitals. A multi-faceted strategy should be implemented at the national level in China and should include education, regulation, and greater financial support from the government. Objective: Implementing a multimodal campaign could be resulted in a sustained increase in hand hygiene (HH) compliance rates. However, most studies of HH campaign have been conducted in the developed countries. This study was aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of hand hygiene campaign in a university hospital in China. Methods: During the period of the HH campaign, the WHO hand hygiene improvement strategy was implemented to improve hand hygiene compliance. We collected and evaluated the effect of hand hygiene campaign by the questionnaire of WHO hand hygiene observation, consumption of alcohol-based hand rub (AHR), liquid soap and gloves, and the quality of HH by adenosine triphosphate (ATP) test. Results: Of the 4,177 opportunities of hand hygiene evaluated, the HH compliance improved significantly from 24.2% to 41.0% after the intervention. Health care workers in the ICU showed higher hand hygiene compliance compared with those in other departments. In general, Nurses’ hand hygiene compliance was higher than those of physicians and surgeons. The consumption of AHR and the ATP pass rate increased after the intervention. Conclusion: Through the intervention, medical staff hand hygiene compliance was greatly improved from 24.2% to 41.0%. The WHO Hand Hygiene Strategy was also effective in hospital of China.

To compare the pass rate of auto-auditory brainstem response (AABR) in infants complicated with different high-risk factors.245 infants (488 ears) with different high-risk factors, including premature, low-weight, hyperbilirubinemia, asphyxiation and pulmonary diseases, were tested by transiently evoked otoacoustic emission (TEOAE) and AABR at the same time.The pass rate of AABR and that of TEOAE were different for the infants with different high-risk factors. The number that passed TEOAE test and referred to AABR test: premature 15 ears, low-weight 3 ears, for hyperbilirubinemia 1 ears, for asphyxiation 5 ears, and for pulmonary diseases 35ears. The pass rate of AABR was reduced evidently when infants had pulmonary diseases and the complicated high-risk factors (chi(2) = 35.723, P0.01). Different high-risk factors produced different pass rates of AABR (chi(2) = 40.556, P0.01).High-risk factors effect the auditory function. The pass rate of AABR is reduced evidently when an infant has both pulmonary diseases and the complicated high-risk factors. We should pay attention to these infants in universal newborn hearing screening.

To explore the risk indicators of newborn hearing loss.Statistic description was used to analyze the basic characteristics of 41 hearing loss infants screened from 8,262 newborns; one way analysis was used by 1:2 matched case control study to analyze the risk indicators of newborns with hearing loss; chi-square test and multivariate condition Logistic stepwise regression mode were also used to find risk the indicators.By one way analysis, there were 3 high risk indicators associated with newborn hearing loss: family history of hearing loss, craniofacial anomalies, and NICU care history. By analysis of multivariate condition Logistic stepwise regression mode, family history of hearing loss (OR=16.945, 95% CI 1.21-237.369) and craniofacial anomalies (OR=6.703, 95% CI 0.61-73.85) were 2 independent risk factors of newborn hearing loss.Appropriate intervention measure should be done to reduce the high risk indicators that cause newborn hearing loss.

The research on the stability theory of fractional order nonlinear system has an important value for the application of synchronization and the control of fractional order chaotic system. The discussion that the stability discrimination of fractional order nonlinear system is converted into that of corresponding integer order nonlinear system has an important significance. In this paper, through the examples, for time-varying coefficient matrix, we point out the existing mistake of the discrimination theorem that states that if the integer system is stable, then its corresponding fractional system with order less than one is also stable. We also analyze the causes of the mistake.

The adaptive synchronization of integration complex networks is studied,and a network division scheme is introduced according to the nature of different links. Using the Lyapunov stability theory and the adaptive feedback control method, the principle of global synchronization of rather general weighted complex dynamical networks for identical nodes and different nodes and their corresponding controllers is given. Finally, numerical results verify the effectiveness of the proposed method.

essful application of the algorithm to the problem of designing fuzzy system that matches the desired input-output pairs. The resulting CAS-designed fuzzy systems models can be used to achieve the identification and adaptive control of dynamical systems. Simulation results show that the proposed method is effective.

In this paper，a new idea about network split is presented according to the different nature of the network links. Time-delay has been introduced into networks to effect the split and on that a model of complex dynamical networks with multi-links has been constructed. Based on Lyapunov theory，the stability analysis of networks with multi-links is also studied. The sufficient conditions of the stability of networks with time-delay and without time-delay are respectively presented. The validility of the results are proved by numerical simulation of this paper.

Chaos computing is a new scheme which can construct fundamental logical gates by using one chaotic unit. In this paper, we propose a new method to implement full adder based on chaos computing. By setting different thresholds and judgment conditions, the full adder is implemented by using only one chaotic unit. This method reduces the complexness of the structure of full adders and provides certain flexibility compared with the traditional method. At last, the Logistic mapping is taken as an example to show how to implement a full adder by using one chaotic unit.

This paper presents the Hénon chaotic system tracking control of reference signal based on the theory of stability of the linear system. We discuss the problem of system synchronization and give the new concept of chaotic synchronization of diverse structures. Computer simulations have illustrated the effectiveness of the proposed method.

This paper further investigates the locally and globally adaptive synchronization of united complex dynamical networks based on a new method of network split. Time-delay has been introduced into networks to split and upon which a model of united complex dynamical networks with multi-links has been constructed. Several new locally and globally asymptotically stable network synchronization criteria are deduced by using Lyapunov stability theory and some hypotheses. The validity of the results was proved through numerical simulation of this paper.

It's of vital importance to estimate the unknown parameters of chaotic systems in chaos control and synchronization. Nonlinear observer is used to investigate the problem of parameter identification for two different types of time-delay chaotic systems. The unknown parameter is regarded as the unknown state of the chaotic system. Based on the theory of nonlinear state observer, by selecting suitable nonlinear gain function in observer, which makes the closed-loop error system globally exponentially stable or approximately stable, a sufficient condition for existence of parameter estimator is presented. A numerical simulation on the well-known time-delay logistic system is conducted. Simulation results show that the proposed method is effective for parameter estimation of the time-delay chaotic system.

The chaotic ant swarm algorithm is a chaos optimization algorithm based on swarm intelligence theory which was inspired by the chaotic and self-organizing behavior of the ants in nature. It includes both effects of chaotic dynamics and swarm-based search. Through the construction of a suitable fitness function, the problem of parameter estimation of the chaotic system is converted to a problem of parameter optimization which could be solved via chaotic ant swarm algorithm. Chaotic ant swarm algorithm has the ability of global search. A numerical simulation on the well-known Lorenz chaotic system is conducted. Simulation results show that the proposed method is effective in parameter estimation of the chaotic system.

The synchronization problem of uncertain dynamical network model with time-delay nodes has been researched, where the network structure is known or totally unknown. Based on Lyapunov stability theorem, the synchronization controller of complex networks and the adaptive controller of synchronization of complex networks are designed respectively under the circumstances of known parameters and unknown parameters. The sufficient condition of network synchronization is given to guarantee that the dynamical network asymptotically synchronizes at the individual node state in arbitrary specified network. Finally, numerical simulations are provided to verify the effectiveness of the developed methods.
