11. Enhanced strength-ductility synergy in a Ni-W-Co-Ta medium-heavy alloy via cryogenic supersonic fine particle bombardment

Abstract

This study explores the influence of cryogenic supersonic fine particle bombardment (CSFPB) on a Ni-W-Co-Ta medium heavy alloy (MHA), and focus on the effect of gas pressure and impact time on the surface integrity, microstructural evolution, and mechanical properties of the MHA. CSFPB treatment creates a gradient structure, including surface layer with nanograins down to 9.0 nm due to severe plastic deformation, subsurface layer with high density dislocation structures and deformation twins due to weakened impact energy, and undeformed matrix. A key advantage of CSFPB is seen to be the cryogenic environment, which promotes superior surface integrity by reduced roughness. As the impact duration and gas pressure increase, the depth of deformation layer, surface hardness and strength of the MHA progressively rise. The optimal combination of strength and ductility is achieved at a gas pressure of 1.0 MPa for a duration of 90 s. This setting results in a maximum ultimate tensile strength of 1351 MPa and yield strength 796 MPa, with uncompromising elongation. However, excessively long treatment durations or high gas pressures can lead to the formation of surface microcracks, ultimately reducing the MHA's strength. Therefore, CSFPB offers the benefit of improved surface integrity through the cryogenic environment while maintaining a desirable balance between enhanced strength and ductility.

Comparing with free mAbs, PPRT nanocomb possesses a comparable binding ability and reduced “off-rate” to surface CD20 of NHL cells. When treated by PPRT nanocomb, the caspase-dependent apoptosis was remarkably enhanced except for concurrently eliciting complement-dependent cytotoxicity, antibody-dependent cell-mediated cytotoxicity, and lysosome-mediated PCD. Abstract

To study the biological response of B-cell lymphoma cells positive for CD20 expression to (131)I-labeled rituximab.Anti-CD20 monoclonal antibody rituximab was labeled with (131)I by means of IODO-GEN method, and its effects on apoptosis of Raji cells were determined by Annexin-V/PI double-labeled cytometry. Its effects on the cell cycles was evaluated by cytometry with PI staining.The cell apoptosis rate measured by Annexin v-FITC/PI was 51.99% in (131)I-rituximab group, significantly higher than that in (131)I group, rituximab group and control group (42.71%, 29.42% and 26.17%, respectively, P;0.05). The apoptosis rate by flow cytometry with PI staining was 4.32% in (131)I-rituximab group, also significantly higher than that in the other 3 groups (1.47%, 1.39% and 0.37%, respectively, P0.05). Cell cycle alteration of Raji cells occurred in (131)I-rituximab group, and the majority of cells were arrested at G(1)/G(2) stage.(131)I-rituximab can regulate the cell cycle of Raji cells and induce their apoptosis to inhibit their proliferation.

Abstract

Carbon nanomaterials such as graphene, carbon nanotube (CNT), and carbon nanofiber (CNF) have received tremendous attentions in the past two decades due to their extraordinary mechanical strength and thermal and electrical properties. Recently, it indicates that three-dimensional (3D) nanocarbon hybrids overcome the weakness of individual low-dimensional nanocarbon materials and exhibit unique properties among carbon nanomaterials. Efforts have thus been made to acquire synergistic integration of one-dimensional (1D) and two-dimensional (2D) carbon nanomaterials. Meanwhile, chemical vapor deposition (CVD) is a widespread and effective method of fabricating three-dimensional nanocarbon hybrids compared with other synthetic methods. In this case, a number of 3D nanocarbon hybrids are synthesized by using different precursors at diverse temperature, and the nanocarbon hybrids are expected to be a promising choice for various application areas in the future.
