5. Calibration and performance of two new ultra-wideband four-port-based systems

Abstract

This paper presents two new structures for four-port-based systems with ultrawide operating bandwidth, using a combination of power dividers and delay lines. The prototype circuits, initially conceived to operate in the frequency band from I to 4 GHz, are fabricated to validate these new architectures by means of a hybrid integrated-circuit technology. Associated with these systems, a new explicit calibration solution is developed to extend the frequency band of use up to 10 GHz. Comparison between the results obtained from the new structures with those given by a conventional network analyzer show the validity of the systems proposed. Abstract

Joint IEEE International Symposium on Applications of Ferroelectrics and 14th European Meeting on FerroelectricitySession TuORiv3BC - ISAF1-MultiFerro & MagnetoElec II; International audience; The magnetoelectric properties of laminated heterostructures consisting of ferromagnetic yttrium iron garnet (YIG) films deposited on antiferroelectric (AFE) (Pb0.97La0.02)(Zr0.6Sn0.3Ti0.1)O3 (PLZST) and on ferroelectric (FE) 0.75Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O3-0.25Pb(Zr0.48Ti0.52)O3 (PMN-PZT) ceramics are compared in this work. In particular, the Converse Magneto Electric (CME) coefficient is evaluated for these two types of structures. When the electric field is applied on an AFE ceramic, the CME coefficient peaks at the switching field and, without bias magnetic field, the maximum value is 11.6 × 10-8 s/m. In case of a FE ceramic, at the electric coercive field, the CME coefficient can reach 17 × 10-8 s/m at 0 Oe. Each structure has advantages and disadvantages depending on the applications.

Abstract

International audience; Ba(Sr,Ti)O3 material presents a remarkable property that lies in the possibility to change the permittivity by applying a dc electric field, i.e., BST is a tunable material. That makes BST a very interesting material for the development of reconfigurable devices in microelectronics. In this study, we focus our work on Ba(Sr,Ti)O3 with Ba/Sr = 30/70, the films are deposited by radio-frequency magnetron sputtering on Al2O3 (0001). A buffer layer of TiOx is used to control the film orientation. The influence of this buffer layer on the dielectric properties, the interfaces quality with respect to the film thickness, and the temperature is analyzed. An increase of 30% of the relative permittivity was measured and a tunability of 50% was attained at 300 KV/cm. The dielectric measurements on BST/TiOx as a function of the temperature show a shift of the Curie temperature (Tc = −40°C) in comparison to BST without TiOx layer (Tc = −80°C). We demonstrate that the Curie temperature does not correspond to the maximum permittivity. The important stress measured on the films (930 MPa) could explain this behavior.
