Abstract

As evidenced by recent survey results, majority of asteroids are slow rotators (P>12 h), but lack spin and shape models due to selection bias. This bias is skewing our overall understanding of the spins, shapes, and sizes of asteroids, as well as of their other properties. Also, diameter determinations for large (>60km) and medium-sized asteroids (between 30 and 60 km) often vary by over 30% for multiple reasons. Our long-term project is focused on a few tens of slow rotators with periods of up to 60 hours. We aim to obtain their full light curves and reconstruct their spins and shapes. We also precisely scale the models, typically with an accuracy of a few percent. We used wide sets of dense light curves for spin and shape reconstructions via light-curve inversion. Precisely scaling them with thermal data was not possible here because of poor infrared data: large bodies are too bright for WISE mission. Therefore, we recently launched a campaign among stellar occultation observers, to scale these models and to verify the shape solutions, often allowing us to break the mirror pole ambiguity. The presented scheme resulted in shape models for 16 slow rotators, most of them for the first time. Fitting them to stellar occultations resolved previous inconsistencies in size determinations. For around half of the targets, this fitting also allowed us to identify a clearly preferred pole solution, thus removing the ambiguity inherent to light-curve inversion. We also address the influence of the uncertainty of the shape models on the derived diameters. Overall, our project has already provided reliable models for around 50 slow rotators. Such well-determined and scaled asteroid shapes will, e.g. constitute a solid basis for density determinations when coupled with mass information. Abstract

We present the photometric analysis of \textit{BVR} and \textit{TESS} light curves of three eclipsing binaries (RU~UMi and purely studied VY~UMi, GSC 04364-00648), together with their period changes considering archival data and new minima times from our and \textit{TESS} observations. For the first time we detected wave-like variations with low-amplitude in $O-C$ residua of RU UMi, which can be interpreted as a consequence of the light-time effect caused by the 3rd invisible component with period 7370 days. Period increase with rate 2.56(9)$\times10^{-7}$~d/yr$^{-1}$ detected in the VY UMi system corresponds to mass transfer from the secondary to the primary component. For GSC 04364-00648 binary system we find some quadratic changes on the $O-C$ diagram, which corresponds to a period decrease with a high rate of $-2.26(5)\times10^{-5}$~d/yr$^{-1}$. We cannot assumptions about their nature, mainly due to short time of observation and uneven coverage of $O-C$ diagram. Abstract

Within our international program to obtain accurate physical properties of trans-Neptunian objects (TNOs) we predicted a stellar occultation by the TNO (38628) Huya of the star Gaia DR2 4352760586390566400 (mG = 11.5 mag.) for March 18, 2019. After an extensive observational campaign, we updated the prediction and it turned out to be favorable to central Europe. Therefore, we mobilized half a hundred professional and amateur astronomers, and the occultation was finally detected from 21 telescopes located at 18 sites. This makes the Huya event one of the best ever observed stellar occultation by a TNO in terms of the number of chords. We determine accurate size, shape, and geometric albedo, and we also provide constraints on the density and other internal properties of this TNO. The 21 positive detections of the occultation by Huya allowed us to obtain well-separated chords which permitted us to fit an ellipse for the limb of the body at the moment of the occultation (i.e., the instantaneous limb) with kilometric accuracy. The projected semi-major and minor axes of the best ellipse fit obtained using the occultation data are (a', b') = (217.6 $\pm$ 3.5 km, 194.1 $\pm$ 6.1 km) with a position angle of the minor axis P' = 55.2 $\pm$ 9.1 degrees. From this fit, the projected area-equivalent diameter is 411.0 $\pm$ 7.3 km. This diameter is compatible with the equivalent diameter for Huya obtained from radiometric techniques (D = 406 $\pm$ 16 km). From this instantaneous limb, we obtained the geometric albedo for Huya (p$\rm_V$ = 0.079 $\pm$ 0.004) and we explored possible 3D shapes and constraints to the mass density for this TNO. We did not detect the satellite of Huya through this occultation, but the presence of rings or debris around Huya is constrained using the occultation data. Abstract

The amount of sparse asteroid photometry being gathered by both space- and ground-based surveys is growing exponentially. This large volume of data poses a computational challenge owing to both the large amount of information to be processed and the new methods needed to combine data from different sources (e.g. obtained by different techniques, in different bands, and having different random and systematic errors). The main goal of this work is to develop an algorithm capable of merging sparse and dense data sets, both relative and differential, in preparation for asteroid observations originating from, for example, Gaia, TESS, ATLAS, LSST, K2, VISTA, and many other sources. We present a novel method to obtain asteroid phase curves by combining sparse photometry and differential ground-based photometry. In the traditional approach, the latter cannot be used for phase curves. Merging those two data types allows for the extraction of phase-curve information for a growing number of objects. Abstract

Results from the TESS mission showed that previous studies strngly underestimated the number of slow rotators, revealing the importance of studying those asteroids. For most slowly rotating asteroids (P > 12), no spin and shape model is available because of observation selection effects. This hampers determination of their thermal parameters and accurate sizes. We continue our campaign in minimising selection effects among main belt asteroids. Our targets are slow rotators with low light-curve amplitudes. The goal is to provide their scaled spin and shape models together with thermal inertia, albedo, and surface roughness to complete the statistics. Rich multi-apparition datasets of dense light curves are supplemented with data from Kepler and TESS. In addition to data in the visible range, we also use thermal data from infrared space observatories (IRAS, Akari and WISE) in a combined optimisation process using the Convex Inversion Thermophysical Model (CITPM). This novel method has so far been applied to only a few targets, and in this work we further validate the method. We present the models of 16 slow rotators. All provide good fits to both thermal and visible data. The obtained sizes are on average accurate at the 5% precision, with diameters in the range from 25 to 145 km. The rotation periods of our targets range from 11 to 59 hours, and the thermal inertia covers a wide range of values, from 2 to <400 SI units, not showing any correlation with the period. With this work we increase the sample of slow rotators with reliable spin and shape models and known thermal inertia by 40%. 6. A photometric study of two neglected eclipsing binaries

Abstract

We present the first BVR photometry, period variation, and photometric light-curve analysis of two poorly studied eclipsing binaries V1321 Cyg and CR Tau. Observations were carried out from November 2017 to January 2020 at the observatory of Uzhhorod National University. Period variations were studied using all available early published as well as our minima times. We have used newly developed ELISa code for the light curve analysis and determination of photometric parameters of both systems. We found that V1321 Cyg is a close detached eclipsing system with a low photometric mass ratio of $q=0.28$ which suggests that the binary is a post mass transfer system. No significant period changes in this system are detected. CR Tau is, on the other hand, a semi-detached system where the secondary component almost fills its Roche lobe. We detected a long-term period increase at a rate of $1.49 \times 10^{-7} d/y$, which support mass transfer from lower mass secondary component to the more massive primary.

Abstract

The article analyses the main trends related to migration issues in Ukraine and the EU caused by the military conflict. An analysis of the theoretical basis of the research was carried out in order to determine the main aspects related to the migratory behaviour of the population in the conditions of military conflicts and crisis situations. Based on the results of a sociological study, an assessment was made of the migration attitudes and expectations of internally displaced persons (IDPs) temporarily residing in the border region of the country under martial law. An attempt was made to assess the impact of migration potential on the development of border regions under the conditions of a military crisis (using the Zakarpattia Oblast as an example). The purpose of this article is to assess the attitudes and expectations of migrants in relation to the military conflict in their country of origin. The study focuses on internally displaced persons (IDPs) living temporarily in the country's border regions, particularly in Zakarpattia Oblast. Methodology. The study is based on a sociological survey of Ukrainian migrants, such as IDPs, in new places of temporary stay in the Transcarpathian region. The survey was conducted in the first half of 2022 using the method of sociological interviews according to a random sample. The structure of the sample is 70.5% – female and 29.5% – male respondents. In addition to the sociological survey, the research is based on statistical data analysis and review of literature studies using qualitative descriptive analysis. The results of the study show significant interdependencies, disparities and trends in migration expectations and attitudes in relation to crisis, which could be the basis for further prognosis and forecasting development in the field of migration theory, such as: gender disparities in migration due to military conflicts; the importance of family ties in migration and resettlement; the predominance of the remote form of work and education, which confirms its effectiveness in crisis situations; the high inclination and desire of IDPs to return home and the low activity of IDPs in migration abroad, which is one of the main differences distinguishing IDPs from other types of migrants.

8. Evaluation of Low Back Pain in Field Hockey Players

Abstract

It is aimed to evaluate the conditions of low back pain in field hockey players. 196 field hockey players and 170 of similar age range university students participated voluntarily. Participants demographic characteristics, low back pain history, and risk factors were questioned, Biering Sorensen Test (BST) was administered to test the strength and endurance of the back extensors. The data were evaluated in the SPSS 20 for Windows package program. Student's T-Test, ANOVA Test, Post-Hoc Bonferroni Test and Pearson Correlation Analysis were used for statistical analysis. Analysis results were evaluated at 95% confidence interval, p<0.05 was accepted as statistically significant difference. The lifelong prevalence was 82% in the athletes group and 66% in the control group; however, there was no statistically significant difference between the two groups (p=0.524). In terms of frequency of back pain (VAS) in the last three months, there was a significant difference between the athletes and the control groups (p<0.05). The BST average duration of national athletes was 95.2±18.5 sec of super league athletes was 101.3±15.4 sec, and of control group was 110.6±16.8 sec. A statistically significant difference was found between the national athletes and the control group according to BST scores (p=0.001). Compared to national athletes, super league athletes, and control groups, it has been found that being a Field Hockey National Players pose much more risk for low back pain. It was found that low back pain was widespread amongst athletes, and it is seen at a higher rate in national field hockey players. Abstract

Context. Earlier work suggests that slowly rotating asteroids should have higher thermal inertias than faster rotators because the heat wave penetrates deeper into the sub-surface. However, thermal inertias have been determined mainly for fast rotators due to selection effects in the available photometry used to obtain shape models required for thermophysical modelling (TPM). Aims. Our aims are to mitigate these selection effects by producing shape models of slow rotators, to scale them and compute their thermal inertia with TPM, and to verify whether thermal inertia increases with the rotation period. Methods. To decrease the bias against slow rotators, we conducted a photometric observing campaign of main-belt asteroids with periods longer than 12 hours, from multiple stations worldwide, adding in some cases data from WISE and Kepler space telescopes. For spin and shape reconstruction we used the lightcurve inversion method, and to derive thermal inertias we applied a thermophysical model to fit available infrared data from IRAS, AKARI, and WISE. Results. We present new models of 11 slow rotators that provide a good fit to the thermal data. In two cases, the TPM analysis showed a clear preference for one of the two possible mirror solutions. We derived the diameters and albedos of our targets in addition to their thermal inertias, which ranged between 3$^{+33}_{-3}$ and 45$^{+60}_{-30}$ Jm$^{-2}$s$^{-1/2}$K$^{-1}$. Conclusions. Together with our previous work, we have analysed 16 slow rotators from our dense survey with sizes between 30 and 150 km. We present new analysis of O-C diagrams variations of three Algol-type eclipsing binary stars AD And, TW Cas and IV Cas. We have used all published minima times (including visual and photographic) as well as new determined ones from our and SuperWasp observations. We determined orbital parameters of the 3rd bodies in the systems with statistically significant errors, using our code based on genetic algorithms and Markov Chain Monte Carlo simulation. Abstract

The paper deals with a computational method for detection of the solar system minor bodies (SSOs), whose inter-frame shifts in series of CCD-frames during the observation are commensurate with the errors in measuring their positions. These objects have velocities of apparent motion between CCD-frames not exceeding three RMS errors ($3\sigma$) of measurements of their positions. About 15\% of objects have a near-zero apparent motion in CCD-frames, including the objects beyond the Jupiter's orbit as well as the asteroids heading straight to the Earth. The proposed method for detection of the object's near-zero apparent motion in series of CCD-frames is based on the Fisher f-criterion instead of using the traditional decision rules that are based on the maximum likelihood criterion. We analyzed the quality indicators of detection of the object's near-zero apparent motion applying statistical and in situ modeling techniques in terms of the conditional probability of the true detection of objects with a near-zero apparent motion. The efficiency of method being implemented as a plugin for the Collection Light Technology (CoLiTec) software for automated asteroids and comets detection has been demonstrated. Among the objects discovered with this plugin, there was the sungrazing comet C/2012 S1 (ISON). Within 26 minutes of the observation, the comet's image has been moved by three pixels in a series of four CCD-frames (the velocity of its apparent motion at the moment of discovery was equal to 0.8 pixels per CCD-frame; the image size on the frame was about five pixels). Next verification in observations of asteroids with a near-zero apparent motion conducted with small telescopes has confirmed an efficiency of the method even in bad conditions (strong backlight from the full Moon). Abstract

The available set of spin and shape modelled asteroids is strongly biased against slowly rotating targets and those with low lightcurve amplitudes. As a consequence of these selection effects, the current picture of asteroid spin axis distribution, rotation rates, or radiometric properties, might be affected too. To counteract these selection effects, we are running a photometric campaign of a large sample of main belt asteroids omitted in most previous studies. We determined synodic rotation periods and verified previous determinations. When a dataset for a given target was sufficiently large and varied, we performed spin and shape modelling with two different methods. We used the convex inversion method and the non-convex SAGE algorithm, applied on the same datasets of dense lightcurves. Unlike convex inversion, the SAGE method allows for the existence of valleys and indentations on the shapes based only on lightcurves. We obtained detailed spin and shape models for the first five targets of our sample: (159) Aemilia, (227) Philosophia, (329) Svea, (478) Tergeste, and (487) Venetia. When compared to stellar occultation chords, our models obtained an absolute size scale and major topographic features of the shape models were also confirmed. When applied to thermophysical modelling, they provided a very good fit to the infrared data and allowed their size, albedo, and thermal inertia to be determined. Convex and non-convex shape models provide comparable fits to lightcurves. However, some non-convex models fit notably better to stellar occultation chords and to infrared data in sophisticated thermophysical modelling (TPM). In some cases TPM showed strong preference for one of the spin and shape solutions. Abstract

Context. The so-called Barbarian asteroids share peculiar, but common polarimetric properties, probably related to both their shape and composition. They are named after (234) Barbara, the first on which such properties were identified. As has been suggested, large scale topographic features could play a role in the polarimetric response, if the shapes of Barbarians are particularly irregular and present a variety of scattering/incidence angles. This idea is supported by the shape of (234) Barbara, that appears to be deeply excavated by wide concave areas revealed by photometry and stellar occultations. Aims. With these motivations, we started an observation campaign to characterise the shape and rotation properties of Small Main- Belt Asteroid Spectroscopic Survey (SMASS) type L and Ld asteroids. As many of them show long rotation periods, we activated a worldwide network of observers to obtain a dense temporal coverage. Methods. We used light-curve inversion technique in order to determine the sidereal rotation periods of 15 asteroids and the con- vergence to a stable shape and pole coordinates for 8 of them. By using available data from occultations, we are able to scale some shapes to an absolute size. We also study the rotation periods of our sample looking for confirmation of the suspected abundance of asteroids with long rotation periods. Results. Our results show that the shape models of our sample do not seem to have peculiar properties with respect to asteroids with similar size, while an excess of slow rotators is most probably confirmed.

Abstract

BackgroundSelective uptake of (18)F-fluoro-ethyl-tyrosine (18F-FET) is used in high-grade glioma (HGG) to assess tumor metabolic activity via positron emission tomography (PET). We aim to investigate its value for target volume definition, as a prognosticator, and associations with whole-blood transcriptome liquid biopsy (WBT lbx) for which we recently reported feasibility to mirror tumor characteristics and response to particle irradiation in recurrent HGG (rHGG).Methods18F-FET-PET data from n = 43 patients with primary glioblastoma (pGBM) and n = 33 patients with rHGG were assessed. pGBM patients were irradiated with photons and sequential proton/carbon boost, and rHGG patients were treated with carbon re-irradiation (CIR). WBT (Illumina HumanHT-12 Expression BeadChips) lbx was available for n = 9 patients from the rHGG cohort. PET isocontours (40%–70% SUVmax, 10% steps) and MRI-based treatment volumes (MRIvol) were compared using the conformity index (CI) (pGBM, n = 16; rHGG, n = 27). Associations with WBT lbx data were tested on gene expression level and inferred pathways activity scores (PROGENy) and from transcriptome estimated cell fractions (CIBERSORT, xCell).ResultsIn pGBM, median SUVmax was higher in PET acquired pre-radiotherapy (4.1, range (R) 1.5–7.8; n = 20) vs. during radiotherapy (3.3, R 1.5–5.7, n = 23; p = 0.03) and in non-resected (4.7, R 2.9–7.9; n = 11) vs. resected tumors (3.3, R 1.5–7.8, n = 32; p = 0.01). In rHGG, a trend toward higher SUVmax values in grade IV tumors was observed (p = 0.13). Median MRIvol was 32.34 (R 8.75–108.77) cm3 in pGBM (n = 16) and 20.77 (R 0.63–128.44) cm3 in rHGG patients (n = 27). The highest median CI was observed for 40% (pGBM, 0.31) and 50% (rHGG, 0.43, all tumors) isodose, with 70% (40%) isodose in grade III (IV) rHGG tumors (median CI, 0.38 and 0.49). High SUVmax was linked to shorter survival in pGBM (>3.3, p = 0.001, OR 6.0 [2.1–17.4]) and rHGG (>2.8, p = 0.02, OR 4.1 [1.2–13.9]). SUVmax showed associations with inferred monocyte fractions, hypoxia, and TGFbeta pathway activity and links to immune checkpoint gene expression from WBT lbx.ConclusionThe benefits of 18F-FET-PET imaging on gross tumor volume (GTV) definition for particle radiotherapy warrant further evaluation. SUVmax might assist in prognostic stratification of HGG patients for particle radiotherapy, highlights heterogeneity in rHGG, and is positively associated with unfavorable signatures in peripheral whole-blood transcriptomes.

Abstract

The photometry of space objects (SO) makes it possible to determine their state of rotation around the center of mass, orientation of the rotation axis and rotation speed in the most cost-effective manner. However, the methods for determining the attitude parameters from photometric data from a single observation site (OS) require long series of high-quality and high-frequency measurements. We propose a method for determining the orientation parameters of slowly rotating SO based on simultaneous multi-site photometry with a high temporal resolution. Preconditions for planning and building a local photometric network that can accomplish such a task have been tested via computer simulation. Synchronous observations of the unoperated spacecraft TOPEX/Poseidon were carried out. They were attended by the observatories of Odessa, Lvov and Uzhgorod universities, as well as the observation station of the State Space Agency of Ukraine in Zalistsi, Khmelnytsky region, took part. Synchronous network-based photometric observations from three OSs enable us to calculate time lags between correlated light- curve segments and promptly determine the direction of rotation, as well as the spatial orientation of a SO’s spin axis and its angular spin rate. A local network of several distributed observation sites for synchronous monitoring of the rotation of various SO in LEO will make it possible to determine the rotation parameters of also slowly rotating objects that do not exhibit glints within their light curves.

У статті здійснено теоретичний аналіз основних наукових підходів до дослідження питань місцевого розвитку та ефективного функціонування громад на засадах партнерської співпраці. На основі квалітативного аналізу здійснено аналіз базових наукових концепцій місцевого розвитку, зокрема таких як просторові теорії та теорії розміщення; теорії кумулятивного зростання; теорія продуктивності факторів виробництва; теорія місцевої ресурсної бази; теорія експортної бази; інституціональні теорії; теорія суспільного добробуту; теорії інклюзивного розвитку та ін. Визначено, що місцевий економічний розвиток (МЕР) безпосередньо пов’язаний з діяльністю та взаємоузгодженим функціонуванням органів влади, бізнесу та громади, тому його ефективність необхідно розглядати в контексті партнерських відносин зазначених суб’єктів. Проведений аналіз засвідчив, що основними теоріями, які відображають вагомість не тільки економічних, але і територіальних, соціальних та культурних аспектів при побудові партнерств є теорії соціального капіталу, мережевої економік та лідерства у громадах, що доповнюють теорію «Розвитку громад на основі активів» (теорія ABCD – Asset Based Community Development), що являється базовою науковою теорією, яка знаходиться в основі місцевого розвитку в контексті партнерської співпраці у громадах.

Abstract

The article examines the activities of households that provide services in the field of rural green tourism in Transcarpathian region. The main prerequisites which helped rural residents to start their own business in the sphere of rural green tourism are analyzed; the main indicators of rural tourism homesteads activity according to COVID-19 and in the pre-crisis period are reviewed; the main factors influencing the realization of social and economic potential of households in rural green tourism and its effective use in crisis situations are revealed. The purpose of the article is to conduct socio-economic analysis and assessment of impact of the main generating and destructive factors affecting the functioning of rural tourist estates in Transcarpathian region, which form the basis for the development of anti-crisis measures to improve their socio-economic potential, which can be used by the owners of rural green estates. Methodology. The study was conducted on the basis of the results of sociological monitoring of owners of rural estates in the Transcarpathian region, conducted by the Transcarpathian Regional Center for Socio-Economic and Humanitarian Studies of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine in 2021. The monitoring covered 95 respondents, of whom 51.6% were women and 48.4% were men. 74% of the respondents were economically active people between the ages of 35 and 56. The monitoring was conducted on the basis of the method of personal structured interviews according to a stochastic sample, which is representative for the population of the region at the age of 18 and older. The results of the study confirm that the functioning of the majority of rural tourist estates in the Transcarpathian region, in addition to objectively negative consequences of the crisis COVID-19 is affected by many destructive factors at the micro- and macro level, the elimination of which ensures their functioning in case of recurrence of crisis situations. The results of the study showed that only 4% of entrepreneurs were able to increase the potential and profitability of their own business during the crisis period. Also 23.7% of entrepreneurs, despite the crisis, plan to diversify and expand their business in the future. According to the results of sociological research anti-crisis measures to improve the effectiveness of rural tourist estates were developed, such as increasing the level of education and qualifications of owners of rural tourist estates, business diversification and expanding the range of services, reorientation to a new category of consumers, the development of e-tourism, strengthening of integration and cooperation between different economic actors in the region.

Abstract

Modeling the behavior and shape of space objects is widely used in modern astrophysical research methods. Such studies are often used to determine the shape and modeling of physical parameters of variable stars and asteroids. Therefore, based on the database of photometric observations of resident space objects (RSO) available in the Laboratory of Space Research of Uzhhorod National University, it was decided to find a means for modeling light curves to confirm the shape of objects and determine the parameters of their rotation by analogy with objects in deep space. We attempted to use Blender software to model the RSO synthetic light curves (LCs). While Blender has been a popular open-source software among animators and visual effects artists, in recent years, it has also become a tool for researchers: for example, it is used for visualizing astrophysical datasets and generating asteroid light curves. In the process of modeling, we used all the advantages of Blender software such as Python scripting and used GPU. We made synthetic LCs for two objects – TOPEX/Poseidon and COSMOS-2502. A 3D model for Topex/Poseidon was available on the NASA website, but after research of official datasheets, we figured out that the available 3D model requires corrections in the dimensions of the RSO body and solar panel. A 3D model of COSMOS-2502 was made according to available information from the internet. A manual modeling process was performed according to well-known RSO's self-rotation parameters. For example, we also show the results of LC modeling using the Markov chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) method. All synthetic LCs obtained in the research process are well correlated with real observed LCs. Abstract

IntroductionThe PACIFC trial demonstrated a significant benefit of durvalumab consolidation immunotherapy (CIT) after definitive platinum-based chemoradiotherapy (P-CRT) for survival in stage III non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). It is unknown how many patients are eligible in clinical practice to receive CIT according to PACIFIC criteria compared to real administration rates and what influencing factors are.Patients and MethodsWe analyzed 442 patients with unresectable stage III NSCLC who received P-CRT between 2009 and 2019 regarding CIT eligibility rates according to PACIFIC criteria and administration rates since drug approval.ResultsSixty-four percent of 437 patients were male, median age was 63 years [interquartile range (IQR): 57–69]. The most common histologic subtypes were adenocarcinoma (42.8%) and squamous cell carcinoma (41.1%), most tumors were in stage IIIB (56.8%). Mean PD-L1 tumor proportion score (TPS) was 29.8% (IQR: 1–60). The median total RT dose was 60 Gy (IQR: 60–66). Platinum component of P-CRT was evenly distributed between cisplatin (51.4%) and carboplatin (48.6%). 50.3% of patients were eligible for CIT according to PACIFIC criteria. Observed contraindications were progressive disease according to RECIST (32.4%), followed by a PD-L1 TPS < 1% (22.3%), pneumonitis CTCAE ≥ 2 (12.6%) and others (4.9%). One year after drug approval, 85.6% of patients who were eligible according to PACIFIC criteria actually received CIT. Time interval between chemotherapy start and radiation therapy start (OR 0.9, 95% CI: [0.9; 1.0] p = 0.009) and probably cisplatin as platinum-component of P-CRT (OR 1.5, 95% CI: [1.0; 2.4] p < 0.061) influence CIT eligibility. Highly positive PD-L1 TPS (≥50%; (OR 2.4, 95% CI: [1.3; 4.5] p = 0.004) was associated to a better chance for CIT eligibility.ConclusionEighty-five percent of potentially eligible patients received CIT one year after drug approval. Fifty percent of patients did not meet PACIFIC criteria for durvalumab eligibility, this was mainly caused by disease progression during platinum-based CRT, followed by therapy-related pneumonitis and PD-L1 TPS < 1% (in view of the EMA drug approval).

Abstract

The article presents the possibilities of the national ground-based optical space surveillance assets for the conduct of complex optical observations of military and dual-use purpose satellites of the Russian Federation in the interests of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The results of the complex observations of geostationary (GSO) military and dual-purpose satellites of the Russian Federation are illustrated by the examples of the «Luch-Olimp» (2014-058A) military reconnaissance multipurpose telecom satellite and the dual-purpose meteosat «Electro-L» №1 (2011-001А). Carrying out of complex optical observations of space objects in the visible part of the GSO orbital belt (the far operational strategic space zone) provide operational monitoring of military-space systems of intelligence, communications, combat control and retransmission, early detection and warning of missile launches. Comprehensive analysis, analytical processing and comparison of the results of observations of space objects in the far operational strategic space zone with the results of monitoring of the near operational strategic space zone in which reconnaissance, navigational, topogeodetic, meteorological and manned systems are used, provides opportunities for the formation of a comprehensive operational picture of situation (above the territory of Ukraine in particular) and the early disclosure of the enemy's plan. The actual data received will allow the relevant analytical units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, based on demagogic signs and peculiarities of the use of satellite and their clusters, to draw conclusions about the likely locations (objects, districts, directions) of the enemy's interest and the likely targets for the use of high-precision armament and missile-guided high-precision weapons. Skillful and effective use of the above-mentioned actual information in the Armed Forces of Ukraine will allow to reduce personnel losses, to preserve weapons and military equipment, to determine in advance the intentions of the enemy, rather than, in general, to carry out more effective counteraction to the enemy. Involvement of national optical observation assets for complex observations of the enemy's spacecraft and their clusters allows to provide effective monitoring of the operational environment in the near-Earth space in the interests of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

27. QHY-174M-GPS Camera as the Device for Photometry of Artificial Satellites

Abstract

In this paper, we make an attempt to use the QHY174M-GPS camera for the photometry research of fast-rotating artificial objects including debris, satellites and rocket bodies. This device is useful for imaging occultations, eclipses, meteors, and so on due to a highly precise recording of the time (GPS-based) and location of the observation on every frame and fast readout of the CMOS detector. The precision of time registration by the QHY174M-GPS camera is at the level of microseconds. All light curves obtained by studied camera during observations of artificial satellites in this work were carried out at Derenivka Observatory of Uzhhorod National University, Ukraine. The created photometric system with QHY174M-GPS camera as the detector and reflector telescope with parameters D=120mm, F=114mm, FOV=2.82°1.76° was calibrated. For target observations, SharpCap software was used. For the purposes of photometry processing, ccd_phot software was developed using Python 3.8 programming language with astropy and photutils packages. Photometry observations of artificial satellites of the Earth and standard stars were carried out. Over 80 lightcurves of artificial satellites were obtained. Comparing synchronous observations from two sites, separated 15 km from each other, we can conclude that photometry on the QHY174M-GPS camera gave us the same shape of lightcurve and additional advantages, such as time of exposure or simplicity of usage.

Abstract

Background: MR image classification in datasets collected from multiple sources is complicated by inconsistent and missing DICOM metadata. Therefore, we aimed to establish a method for the efficient automatic classification of MR brain sequences. Methods: Deep convolutional neural networks (DCNN) were trained as one-vs-all classifiers to differentiate between six classes: T1 weighted (w), contrast-enhanced T1w, T2w, T2w-FLAIR, ADC, and SWI. Each classifier yields a probability, allowing threshold-based and relative probability assignment while excluding images with low probability (label: unknown, open-set recognition problem). Data from three high-grade glioma (HGG) cohorts was assessed; C1 (320 patients, 20,101 MRI images) was used for training, while C2 (197, 11,333) and C3 (256, 3522) were for testing. Two raters manually checked images through an interactive labeling tool. Finally, MR-Class’ added value was evaluated via radiomics model performance for progression-free survival (PFS) prediction in C2, utilizing the concordance index (C-I). Results: Approximately 10% of annotation errors were observed in each cohort between the DICOM series descriptions and the derived labels. MR-Class accuracy was 96.7% [95% Cl: 95.8, 97.3] for C2 and 94.4% [93.6, 96.1] for C3. A total of 620 images were misclassified; manual assessment of those frequently showed motion artifacts or alterations of anatomy by large tumors. Implementation of MR-Class increased the PFS model C-I by 14.6% on average, compared to a model trained without MR-Class. Conclusions: We provide a DCNN-based method for the sequence classification of brain MR images and demonstrate its usability in two independent HGG datasets.

Aim: The aim of the research is to examine the relationship between the body composition and sportiveperformance of young amateur badminton players.Material and Methods: The study was carried out with 90 athletes. The measurements of the athleteswere measured with the Tanita BC-418 Segmental Body Analysis Scale before the competitions started.The analysis of the data collected in the research was evaluated with the SPSS 21.0 program. Thescores of the athletes participating in the research according to the results of the badminton competitionamong themselves were examined. In addition, general body measurements, leg, arm and trunkmeasurements of all athletes were examined. First of all, height, weight and body mass indexes of theathletes were examined according to their gender. Then, weekly training hours and training years werecompared according to gender.Results: 48.9% of the athletes participating in the research are female and 51.1% are male. In the study,athletes from clubs from 10 different cities were included, and at least the athletes were from Karabük.Conclusion: According to the data obtained, while the total body fat percentage of women is x=26.31, the fat percentage of men is x=18.93.While the total body fat weight of the women was x=13.57, the fat weight of the men was determined as x=8.99. Abstract

The article describes the successes and challenges of the Ukrainian network of optical stations (UMOS) in recent years in the field of astrometric observations of artificial space objects both in low-Earth orbit (LEO) and geostationary Earth orbit (GEO). UMOS was established in 2012 as a joint partnership of organizations interested in satellite observations for scientific purposes and practical near Earth space monitoring. The main purpose of the UMOS has been (and still is) to combine scientific and technical means with regular optical (positional and / or non-positional) observation. The short list of equipment of the UMOS members are given in the tables. The programs for observations, used methods and obtained results are described in the paper. In conclusion, the advantages of observations of artificial space objects by means of a network are summarized. The experience of UMOS and main results obtained by UMOS can be considered as the first step to create the SSA system of Ukraine.

31. MR Intensity Normalization Methods Impact Sequence Specific Radiomics Prognostic Model Performance in Primary and Recurrent High-Grade Glioma

Abstract

Purpose: This study investigates the impact of different intensity normalization (IN) methods on the overall survival (OS) radiomics models’ performance of MR sequences in primary (pHGG) and recurrent high-grade glioma (rHGG). Methods: MR scans acquired before radiotherapy were retrieved from two independent cohorts (rHGG C1: 197, pHGG C2: 141) from multiple scanners (15, 14). The sequences are T1 weighted (w), contrast-enhanced T1w (T1wce), T2w, and T2w-FLAIR. Sequence-specific significant features (SF) associated with OS, extracted from the tumour volume, were derived after applying 15 different IN methods. Survival analyses were conducted using Cox proportional hazard (CPH) and Poisson regression (POI) models. A ranking score was assigned based on the 10-fold cross-validated (CV) concordance index (C-I), mean square error (MSE), and the Akaike information criterion (AICs), to evaluate the methods’ performance. Results: Scatter plots of the 10-CV C-I and MSE against the AIC showed an impact on the survival predictions between the IN methods and MR sequences (C1/C2 C-I range: 0.62-0.71/0.61-0.72, MSE range: 0.20-0.42/0.13-0.22). White stripe showed stable results for T1wce (C1/C2 C-I: 0.71/0.65, MSE: 0.21/0.14). Combat (0.68/0.62, 0.22/0.15) and histogram matching (HM, 0.67/0.64, 0.22/0.15) showed consistent prediction results for T2w models. They were also the top-performing methods for T1w in C2 (Combat: 0.67, 0.13; HM: 0.67, 0.13), however, only HM achieved high predictions in C1 (0.66, 0.22). After eliminating IN impacted SF using Spearman’s rank-order correlation coefficient, a mean decrease in the C-I and MSE of 0.05 and 0.03 was observed in all four sequences. Conclusion: The IN method impacted the predictive power of survival models. Thus, performance is sequence-dependent.

As part of our international program aimed at obtaining accurate physical properties of trans-Neptunian objects (TNOs), we predicted a stellar occultation by the TNO (38628) Huya of the star Gaia DR2 4352760586390566400 (mG = 11.5 mag) on March 18, 2019. After an extensive observational campaign geared at obtaining the astrometric data, we updated the prediction and found it favorable to central Europe. Therefore, we mobilized half a hundred of professional and amateur astronomers in this region and the occultation was finally detected by 21 telescopes located at 18 sites in Europe and Asia. This places the Huya event among the best ever observed stellar occultation by a TNO in terms of the number of chords. Aims. The aim of our work is to determine an accurate size, shape, and geometric albedo for the TNO (38628) Huya by using the observations obtained from a multi-chord stellar occultation. We also aim to provide constraints on the density and other internal properties of this TNO. Methods. The 21 positive detections of the occultation by Huya allowed us to obtain well-separated chords which permitted us to fit an ellipse for the limb of the body at the moment of the occultation (i.e., the instantaneous limb) with kilometric accuracy. Results. The projected semi-major and minor axes of the best ellipse fit obtained using the occultation data are (a′, b′) = (217.6 ± 3.5 km, 194.1 ± 6.1 km) with a position angle for the minor axis of P′ = 55.2° ± 9.1. From this fit, the projected area-equivalent diameter is 411.0 ± 7.3 km. This diameter is compatible with the equivalent diameter for Huya obtained from radiometric techniques (D = 406 ± 16 km). From this instantaneous limb, we obtained the geometric albedo for Huya (pV = 0.079 ± 0.004) and we explored possible three-dimensional shapes and constraints to the mass density for this TNO. Abstract

The photometry of space objects (SO) makes it possible to determine their state of rotation around the center of mass, orientation of the rotation axis and rotation speed in the most cost-effective manner. However, the methods for determining the attitude parameters from photometric data from a single observation site (OS) require long series of high-quality and high-frequency measurements. We propose a method for determining the orientation parameters of slowly rotating SO based on simultaneous multi-site photometry with a high temporal resolution. Preconditions for planning and building a local photometric network that can accomplish such a task have been tested via computer simulation. Synchronous observations of the unoperated spacecraft TOPEX/Poseidon were carried out. They were attended by the observatories of Odessa, Lvov and Uzhgorod universities, as well as the observation station of the State Space Agency of Ukraine in Zalistsi, Khmelnytsky region, took part. Synchronous network-based photometric observations from three OSs enable us to calculate time lags between correlated light- curve segments and promptly determine the direction of rotation, as well as the spatial orientation of a SO’s spin axis and its angular spin rate. A local network of several distributed observation sites for synchronous monitoring of the rotation of various SO in LEO will make it possible to determine the rotation parameters of also slowly rotating objects that do not exhibit glints within their light curves.

37. Preoperative Dose-Escalated Intensity-Modulated Radiotherapy (IMRT) and Intraoperative Radiation Therapy (IORT) in Patients with Retroperitoneal Soft-Tissue Sarcoma: Final Results of a Clinical Phase I/II Trial

Abstract

Background: To report the final results of a prospective, one-armed, single-center phase I/II trial (NCT01566123). Methods: Between 2007 and 2017, 37 patients with primary or recurrent (N = 6) retroperitoneal sarcomas were enrolled. Treatment included preoperative IMRT of 45–50 Gy with a simultaneous integrated boost of 50–56 Gy, surgery and IORT. The primary endpoint was local control (LC) at 5 years. The most common histology was dedifferentiated liposarcoma (51%), followed by leiomyosarcoma (24%) and well-differentiated liposarcoma (14%). The majority of lesions were high-grade (FNCLCC G1: 30%, G2: 38%, G3: 27%, two missing). Five patients were excluded from LC analysis per protocol. Results: The minimum follow-up of the survivors was 62 months (median: 109; maximum 162). IORT was performed for 27 patients. Thirty-five patients underwent gross total resection; the pathological resection margin was mostly R+ (80%) and, less often, R0 (20%). We observed 10 local recurrences. The 5-year LC of the whole cohort was 59.6%. Eleven patients received a dose > 50 Gy plus IORT boost; LC was 64.8%; the difference, however, was not significant (p = 0.588). Of 37 patients, 15 were alive and 22 deceased at the time of final analysis. The 5-year OS was 59.5% (68.8% per protocol). Conclusions: The primary endpoint of a 5-year LC of 70% was not met. This might be explained by the inclusion of recurrent disease and the high rate of G3 lesions and leiomyosarcoma, which have been shown to profit less from radiotherapy. Stratification by grading and histology should be considered for future studies.

Abstract

This thesis demonstrates the use of the Dempster-Shafer Theory of evidence as a decision aid to specify maintenance time during wartime operations, by the help of expert judgment elicitation. This more precise time estimation enables the decision maker to make more accurate decisions for Air Force’s wartime tactical operations allowing commanders to gain a decisive advantage. The major failures were modeled as assessments to investigate maintenance times. A questionnaire was tailored to elicit judgment from experts at the Aircraft Maintenance Facility (AMF). Through an application of the Dempster-Shafer Theory, expert judgment elicitation was determined to be the critical data. This approach was presented as a plausible evidence combination technique when uncertain, incomplete, and incorrect evidence must be assessed during wartime environment. Jet engine aircraft failures examples that met two classes of uncertainty, aleatory and epistemic, were presented to demonstrate possible maintenance time during wartime operations. A decision aid based on the Dempster-Shafer Theory was created and an uncertainty assessment is discussed. This decision aid allows a comparison of each expert’s assessment. The results of this methodology provide a useful and specific application area for the Dempster-Shafer Theory and the AMF in aiding a decision maker to assess the level of an expert’s uncertainty.

Abstract

BackgroundSelective uptake of (18)F-fluoro-ethyl-tyrosine (18F-FET) is used in high-grade glioma (HGG) to assess tumor metabolic activity via positron emission tomography (PET). We aim to investigate its value for target volume definition, as a prognosticator, and associations with whole-blood transcriptome liquid biopsy (WBT lbx) for which we recently reported feasibility to mirror tumor characteristics and response to particle irradiation in recurrent HGG (rHGG).Methods18F-FET-PET data from n = 43 patients with primary glioblastoma (pGBM) and n = 33 patients with rHGG were assessed. pGBM patients were irradiated with photons and sequential proton/carbon boost, and rHGG patients were treated with carbon re-irradiation (CIR). WBT (Illumina HumanHT-12 Expression BeadChips) lbx was available for n = 9 patients from the rHGG cohort. PET isocontours (40%–70% SUVmax, 10% steps) and MRI-based treatment volumes (MRIvol) were compared using the conformity index (CI) (pGBM, n = 16; rHGG, n = 27). Associations with WBT lbx data were tested on gene expression level and inferred pathways activity scores (PROGENy) and from transcriptome estimated cell fractions (CIBERSORT, xCell).ResultsIn pGBM, median SUVmax was higher in PET acquired pre-radiotherapy (4.1, range (R) 1.5–7.8; n = 20) vs. during radiotherapy (3.3, R 1.5–5.7, n = 23; p = 0.03) and in non-resected (4.7, R 2.9–7.9; n = 11) vs. resected tumors (3.3, R 1.5–7.8, n = 32; p = 0.01). In rHGG, a trend toward higher SUVmax values in grade IV tumors was observed (p = 0.13). Median MRIvol was 32.34 (R 8.75–108.77) cm3 in pGBM (n = 16) and 20.77 (R 0.63–128.44) cm3 in rHGG patients (n = 27). The highest median CI was observed for 40% (pGBM, 0.31) and 50% (rHGG, 0.43, all tumors) isodose, with 70% (40%) isodose in grade III (IV) rHGG tumors (median CI, 0.38 and 0.49). High SUVmax was linked to shorter survival in pGBM (>3.3, p = 0.001, OR 6.0 [2.1–17.4]) and rHGG (>2.8, p = 0.02, OR 4.1 [1.2–13.9]). SUVmax showed associations with inferred monocyte fractions, hypoxia, and TGFbeta pathway activity and links to immune checkpoint gene expression from WBT lbx.ConclusionThe benefits of 18F-FET-PET imaging on gross tumor volume (GTV) definition for particle radiotherapy warrant further evaluation. SUVmax might assist in prognostic stratification of HGG patients for particle radiotherapy, highlights heterogeneity in rHGG, and is positively associated with unfavorable signatures in peripheral whole-blood transcriptomes.

Yüzme, farklı yaş gruplarında yer alan bireylerin severek yaptığı oldukça popüler spor branşıdır. Düzenli yapılan yüzme antrenmanlarının yüzücüler üzerine etkilerini inceleyen birçok araştırma olmasına rağmen, yaş grubu yüzücüleri ile sedanter hayat yaşayan kontrol gruplarında kalp kası ve yapısı üzerine gerçekleşen değişimleri karşılaştıran araştırma sayısı oldukça sınırlıdır. Bu sınırlı sayıdaki araştırmaların bir kısmında ekokardiyografi kullanılmış olup yüzücüler kontrol grupları ile karşılaştırılmıştır. Literatürde yaş grubu yüzücülerine uygulanan tekrarlı antrenmanlar sonucunda gerçekleştirilen ekokardiyografik ölçümlerinin kalp kası ve yapısına olan etkilerini araştıran bir çalışmaya rastlanmamıştır. Bu çalışmanın amacı, 12 haftalık yüzme antrenmanın yaş grubu yüzücülerde kalbin yapısı ve işlevleri üzerine nasıl etki yapacağının ekokardiyografik olarak belirlenmesidir. Tekrarlı ölçümlerden oluşan tek kör tasarımına sahip çalışmaya 14 sporcu (5 erkek 9 kadın) gönüllü olarak katılmıştır. Yüzücüler ilk olarak yapılan ekokardiyografi ölçümlerinden sonra yüzme antrenmanlarında yüklenme şiddetinin hesaplanmasında kullanılan kritik hızın hesaplanması için maksimal şiddette 400 m ve 50 m serbest teknikte yüzdürülerek elde edilen dereceler kaydedilmiştir. Ardından iki hafta sürecek uyum seansına geçilmiş ve bu dönemde sporcular yüklenme şiddetinin %50-60 üzerinden hesaplanan yüklenmelerden oluşan ve beş gün üzerinden oluşturulan mikrosiklusta yüklenme kapsamı 5km olan antrenmanlar yapmışlardır. Esas evre antrenmanlarının 1-4 mikro yapılarında 6 gün %60-70yüklenme şiddetini kapsayan 4km, 5-8 mikro yapılarda ise 6 gün %70-80 yüklenme şiddetini içeren ve kapsamı 3.5 km olan antrenmanlara dahil edilmişlerdir. Esas evrenin 6. haftasında yüzme performansları ile ekokardiyografik 2.ölçümler yapılarak gerekli kayıtlar elde edilmiştir. İkinci ölçümleri takip eden 9-12 mikro yapılarda 6 gün %80-90 yüklenme şiddetini içeren şiddette kapsamları 3km olarak planlanan antrenmanlara dahil edilmişlerdir. Belirlenen protokollere göre yapılan antrenmanların sona ermesinin ardından yüzme performansları ve ekokardiyografik ölçümler tekrar edilmiştir. Çalışmanın istatistiksel analizleri JASP ve R paket programlarında yapılmıştır. Sonuç olarak, 12 haftalık yüzme antrenmanlarının yaş grubu yüzücülerde sol kalp boşluklarında genişlemeye neden olmaksızın kalp kasında hipertrofiye neden olduğu rapor edilmiştir., Swimming is a very popular sport that is enjoyed by individuals from all age groups around the world. Although many studies are examining the effects of regular training on swimmers, the number of studies comparing the changes made on the heart muscle and structure of swimmers in the age group and control groups living a sedentary life is quite limited. Echocardiography was used in some of these limited studies, and in these studies, swimmers were compared with control groups, as well. In the literature, no study has been found on the echocardiographic effect of swimming training on the heart muscle and structure of age-group swimmers with repeated measurements. This study aims to determine echocardiographically how the 12-week swimming training will affect the structure and functions of the heart in swimmers in the age group. 14 athletes (5 men 9 women) voluntarily participated in the study, which had a single-blind design consisting of repeated measurements. After the first echocardiographic measurements, the degrees obtained by swimming the swimmers in the 400-50m free technique at maximum intensity were recorded to calculate the critical speed used in determining the loading intensity in swimming training. Then, a two-week adaptation session was started, and during this period, the athletes performed exercises with a loading scope of 5 km in a microcycle planned over five days, consisting of loads calculated over 50-60% of the load intensity. In the 1-4 microstructures of the main phase training, 4 km of 60-70% loading intensity for 6 days, and 6 days of 70-80% loading intensity in 5-8 microstructures and 3.5 km of coverage were included. In the 6th week of the main stage, swimming performances and echocardiographic second measurements were made and necessary records were obtained. Following the second measurements, 9-12 microstructures were included in the training, which included 80-90% loading intensity for 6 days and was planned as 3 km in scope. Measurements were repeated after the end of the training performed according to the determined protocols. JASP and R package programs were employed for the statistical analysis of the study. As a result, it was found that 12-week swimming training caused hypertrophy of the heart muscle without causing enlargement of the left heart cavities in swimmers in the age group.
