1. Prospects for the Development of Major Investment Projects in the Russian Arctic under Sanctions

Abstract: The Russian federal policy in the Arctic has stimulated a significant intensification of economic activity over a vast territory. We identified the system of Arctic investment projects: projects on the Arctic land and on the continental shelf, infrastructure initiatives. This problem is particularly relevant because it relied on borrowing foreign production potential before the start of the economic confrontation with the West. Simultaneously little attention was paid to the development of their own technological solutions. It is determined that in the current conditions for the Russian economy, the issue of maintaining the realistic plans for the development of the Arctic without foreign partners is extremely important. The paper examines the support for designated projects (mining, offshore, oil and gas), public-private partnerships in the implementation of Arctic infrastructure initiatives (the Northern Latitudinal Railway, the Northern Sea Route). It is emphasized that despite all the economic difficulties in 2022, the implementation of the largest Arctic investment projects continues as planned. The author concludes that the pace of their implementation may be lower than previously planned. The research results have show that special attention to the development of own production capacities is needed, the creation of an «Arctic section» in the Plan of Priority Actions to ensure the development of the Russian economy in the face of external sanctions pressure, and to combine the efforts of the state and business.

Abstract: We report the first measurement of the azimuthal anisotropy of J$/\psi$ at forward rapidity ($1.2<|\eta|<2.2$) in Au$+$Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{_{NN}}}=200$ GeV at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider. The data were collected by the PHENIX experiment in 2014 and 2016 with integrated luminosity of 14.5~nb$^{-1}$. The second Fourier coefficient ($v_2$) of the azimuthal distribution of $J/\psi$ is determined as a function of the transverse momentum ($p_T$) using the event-plane method. The measurements were performed for several selections of collision centrality: 0\%--50\%, 10\%--60\%, and 10\%-40\%. We find that in all cases the values of $v_2(p_T)$, which quantify the elliptic flow of J$/\psi$, are consistent with zero. The results are consistent with measurements at midrapidity, indicating no significant elliptic flow of the J$/\psi$ within the quark-gluon-plasma medium at collision energies of $\sqrt{s_{_{NN}}}=200$ GeV., Comment: 369 authors from 72 institutions, 12 pages, 7 figures, 5 tables. v1 is version submitted to Physical Review C. The measurements are based on data samples of Au$+$Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{_{NN}}}=200$ GeV collected by the PHENIX experiment in 2014 and 2016 with integrated luminosity of 14.5~nb$^{-1}$. Abstract: The $J/\psi$ and $\psi(2S)$ charmonium states, composed of $c\bar{c}$ quark pairs and known since the 1970s, are widely believed to serve as ideal probes to test quantum chromodynamics in high-energy hadronic interactions. However, there is not yet a complete understanding of the charmonium-production mechanism. Recent measurements of $J/\psi$ production as a function of event charged-particle multiplicity at the collision energies of both the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) and the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) show enhanced $J/\psi$ production yields with increasing multiplicity. One potential explanation for this type of dependence is multiparton interactions (MPI). We carry out the first measurements of self-normalized $J/\psi$ yields and the $\psi(2S)$ to $J/\psi$ ratio at both forward and backward rapidities as a function of self-normalized charged-particle multiplicity in $p$$+$$p$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}=200$ GeV. In addition, detailed {\sc pythia} studies tuned to RHIC energies were performed to investigate the MPI impacts. We find that the PHENIX data at RHIC are consistent with recent LHC measurements and can only be described by {\sc pythia} calculations that include MPI effects. The forward and backward $\psi(2S)$ to $J/\psi$ ratio, which serves as a unique and powerful approach to study final-state effects on charmonium production, is found to be less dependent on the charged-particle multiplicity., Comment: 301 authors from 69 institutions, 8 pages, 3 figures. v1 is version submitted to Physical Review D Letters. Abstract: Neutral hydrogen (HI) is the primary component of the cool interstellar medium (ISM) and is the reservoir of fuel for star formation. Owing to the sensitivity of existing radio telescopes, our understanding of the evolution of the ISM in galaxies remains limited, as it is based on only a few hundred galaxies detected in HI beyond the local Universe. With the high sensitivity of the Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical radio Telescope (FAST), we carried out a blind HI search, the FAST Ultra-Deep Survey (FUDS), which extends to redshifts up to 0.42 and a sensitivity of 50 $\rm \mu Jy \cdot beam^{-1}$. Here, we report the first discovery of six galaxies in HI at $z>0.38$. For these galaxies, the FAST angular resolution of $\sim\,4'$ corresponds to a mean linear size of $\sim1.3\,h_{70}^{-1}\,$Mpc. These galaxies are among the most distant HI emission detections known, with one having the most massive HI content ($10^{10.93 \pm 0.04}~h_{70}^{-2}\, \rm M_\odot$). Using recent data from the DESI survey, and new observations with the Hale, BTA, and Keck telescopes, optical counterparts are detected for all galaxies within the 3-$\sigma$ positional uncertainty ($0.5\,h_{70}^{-1}\,$Mpc) and $\rm 200\,km \cdot s^{-1}$ in recession velocity. Assuming that the dominant source of HI is the identified optical counterpart, we find an evidence of evolution in the HI content of galaxies over the last 4.2 Gyr. Our new high-redshift HI galaxy sample provides the opportunity to better investigate the evolution of cool gas in galaxies. Abstract: Geometrically frustrated assemblies where building blocks misfit have been shown to generate intriguing phenomena from self-limited growth, fiber formation, to structural complexity. We introduce a graph theory formulation of geometrically frustrated assemblies, capturing frustrated interactions through the concept of incompatible flows, providing a direct link between structural connectivity and frustration. This theory offers a minimal yet comprehensive framework for the fundamental statistical mechanics of frustrated assemblies. Through numerical simulations, the theory reveals new characteristics of frustrated assemblies, including two distinct percolation transitions for structure and stress, a crossover between cumulative and non-cumulative frustration controlled by disorder, and a divergent length scale in their response., Comment: 11 pages, 9 figures

Abstract: We present a new lattice QCD calculation of the leading order hadronic vacuum polarization contribution to the muon anomalous magnetic moment $a_\mu$. We reduce uncertainties compared to our earlier computation by $40\%$, arXiv:2002.12347. We perform simulations on finer lattices allowing for an even more accurate continuum extrapolation. We also include a small, long-distance contribution obtained using input from experiments in a low-energy regime where they all agree. Combined with other standard model contributions our result leads to a prediction that differs from the measurement of $a_\mu$ by only 0.9 standard deviations. Abstract: The PHENIX experiment measured the centrality dependence of two-pion Bose-Einstein correlation functions in $\sqrt{s_{_{NN}}}=200$~GeV Au$+$Au collisions at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider at Brookhaven National Laboratory. The data are well represented by L\'evy-stable source distributions. The extracted source parameters are the correlation-strength parameter $\lambda$, the L\'evy index of stability $\alpha$, and the L\'evy-scale parameter $R$ as a function of transverse mass $m_T$ and centrality. The $\lambda(m_T)$ parameter is constant at larger values of $m_T$, but decreases as $m_T$ decreases. The L\'evy scale parameter $R(m_T)$ decreases with $m_T$ and exhibits proportionality to the length scale of the nuclear overlap region. The L\'evy exponent $\alpha(m_T)$ is independent of $m_T$ within uncertainties in each investigated centrality bin, but shows a clear centrality dependence. At all centralities, the L\'evy exponent $\alpha$ is significantly different from that of Gaussian ($\alpha=2$) or Cauchy ($\alpha=1$) source distributions. Comparisons to the predictions of Monte-Carlo simulations of resonance-decay chains show that in all but the most peripheral centrality class (50%-60%), the obtained results are inconsistent with the measurements, unless a significant reduction of the in-medium mass of the $\eta'$ meson is included. In each centrality class, the best value of the in-medium $\eta'$ mass is compared to the mass of the $\eta$ meson, as well as to several theoretical predictions that consider restoration of $U_A(1)$ symmetry in hot hadronic matter., Comment: 401 authors from 75 institutions, 20 pages, 15 figures, 2 tables. v1 is version submitted to Physical Review C. Abstract: The Lunar Surface Electromagnetics Experiment at Night (LuSEE-Night) is a project designed to investigate the feasibility of observing the Cosmic Dark Ages using an instrument on the lunar far-side. LuSEE-Night will measure the redshifted 21 cm transition of neutral hydrogen over a frequency range of 0.1-50 MHz, covering the redshift range 27 < z < 1100. The LuSEE-Night instrument is a radio frequency spectrometer, consisting of four horizontal monopole antennas, arranged to give wide zenith-pointing beams with two orthogonal linear polarizations. This combination of polarization, spectral, and angular sensitivity will be necessary to separate the cosmological signal from significantly stronger foreground emissions. LuSEE-Night will observe in drift scan during lunar night while the moon shields it from radio frequency interference from both the Earth and sun, and will transmit science and telemetry data back to Earth via an orbital relay during the lunar day. LuSEE-Night will have to operate in a challenging environment: its electronics must operate under hard radiation, the instrument must be thermally isolated during the cold 100~K lunar night, and have a thermal rejection path to survive the 390~K daytime temperature, and its photovoltaic and battery systems must provide sufficient power to operate during two weeks of lunar night. Furthermore, the instrument spectrometer must be powered throughout the lunar night using only a 7~kWh battery, due to mass limitations. Here we describe the power generation, storage, and delivery subsystems of the LuSEE-Night instrument, and the simulations which were performed to design the power subsystems and ensure instrument survival and operation throughout the long lunar night. Abstract: In the present work, quasi-molecular compounds consisting of one antiproton ($\bar{p}$) and one hydrogen-like ion are investigated: $\mathrm{He}^{+} - \bar{p}$, $\mathrm{Li}^{2+} - \bar{p}$, $\mathrm{C}^{5+} - \bar{p}$, $\mathrm{S}^{15+} - \bar{p}$, $\mathrm{Kr}^{35+} - \bar{p}$, $\mathrm{Ho}^{66+} - \bar{p}$, $\mathrm{Re}^{74+} - \bar{p}$, $\mathrm{U}^{91+} - \bar{p}$. For the calculations, the Dirac equation with two-center potential is solved numerically using the dual-kinetically balanced finite-basis-set method adapted to systems with axial symmetry (A-DKB). Adiabatic potential curves are constructed for the ground state of the above quasi-molecular compounds in the framework of the A-DKB approach. Calculations were also performed for the case of an external magnetic field (the field is taken into account non-perturbatively). Abstract: Neutrinoless double beta decay is one of the most sensitive probes for new physics beyond the Standard Model of particle physics. One of the isotopes under investigation is $^{136}$Xe, which would double beta decay into $^{136}$Ba. Detecting the single $^{136}$Ba daughter provides a sort of ultimate tool in the discrimination against backgrounds. Previous work demonstrated the ability to perform single atom imaging of Ba atoms in a single-vacancy site of a solid xenon matrix. In this paper, the effort to identify signal from individual barium atoms is extended to Ba atoms in a hexa-vacancy site in the matrix and is achieved despite increased photobleaching in this site. Abrupt fluorescence turn-off of a single Ba atom is also observed. Significant recovery of fluorescence signal lost through photobleaching is demonstrated upon annealing of Ba deposits in the Xe ice. Following annealing, it is observed that Ba atoms in the hexa-vacancy site exhibit antibleaching while Ba atoms in the tetra-vacancy site exhibit bleaching. This may be evidence for a matrix site transfer upon laser excitation. Abstract: High-momentum two-particle correlations are a useful tool for studying jet-quenching effects in the quark-gluon plasma. Angular correlations between neutral-pion triggers and charged hadrons with transverse momenta in the range 4--12~GeV/$c$ and 0.5--7~GeV/$c$, respectively, have been measured by the PHENIX experiment in 2014 for Au$+$Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{_{NN}}}=200$~GeV. Suppression is observed in the yield of high-momentum jet fragments opposite the trigger particle, which indicates jet suppression stemming from in-medium partonic energy loss, while enhancement is observed for low-momentum particles. The ratio and differences between the yield in Au$+$Au collisions and $p$$+$$p$ collisions, $I_{AA}$ and $\Delta_{AA}$, as a function of the trigger-hadron azimuthal separation, $\Delta\phi$, are measured for the first time at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider. Abstract: We present the results of the optical identification and spectroscopic redshift measurements of 216 galaxy clusters detected in the SRG/eROSITA all-sky X-ray survey. The spectroscopic observations were performed in 2020-2023 with the 6-m BTA telescope at the Special Astrophysical Observatory of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the 2.5-m telescope at the Caucasus Mountain Observatory of the Sternberg Astronomical Institute of the Moscow State University, the 1.6-m AZT-33IK telescope at the Sayan Solar Observatory of the Institute of Solar-Terrestrial Physics of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and the 1.5-m Russian-Turkish telescope (RTT-150) at the T\"{U}B\.{I}TAK Observatory. For all of the galaxy clusters presented here the spectroscopic redshift measurements have been obtained for the first time. Of these, 139 galaxy clusters have been detected for the first time in the SRG/eROSITA survey and 22 galaxy clusters are at redshifts $z_{spec} \gtrsim 0.7$, including three at $z_{spec} \gtrsim 1$. Deep direct images with the rizJK filters have also been obtained for four distant galaxy clusters at $z_{spec} > 0.7$. For these observations the most massive clusters are selected. Therefore, most of the galaxy clusters presented here most likely will be included in the cosmological samples of galaxy clusters from the SRG/eROSITA survey.

17. QCD Equation of State at nonzero baryon density in external magnetic field

Abstract: This paper is devoted to the study of QCD equation of state in external magnetic field and nonzero baryon density. Our study is carried out by means of lattice simulation with 2+1 dynamical staggered quarks at the physical masses. The simulation is conducted at imaginary baryon chemical potential what allowed us to overcome the sign problem. We expand the pressure in the baryon imaginary chemical potential and study three leading nonzero coefficients in this expansion. These coefficients were calculated for the following values of magnetic field: $eB=0.3$, $0.6$, $1.2$ GeV$^2$ with the lattice sizes $8\times32^3$, $10\times40^3$, $12\times48^3$. Using these data we take continuum limit for the coefficients. This paper reports the serendipitous discovery of a new faint Galactic planetary nebula (PN), during a campaign to identify dwarf galaxies, companions of the spiral galaxy NGC 2403. We aim at confirming the nature as PN of a diffuse object identified in the Camelopardalis constellation. We obtained narrow-band filter images and spectra of the nebula and its central star with amateur and professional telescopes having diameters from 20 cm to 6 m. We detected a dense triangular nebula, surrounded by an elliptical region, named Cam nebula. They are part of a larger and fainter circular nebular structure, named TBG-1, at the centre of which we have identified the possible central star, a white dwarf with a temperature of about 22 000 K. The analysis of the spectrum made it possible to measure the physical characteristics of the nebula, in particular its electronic density and temperature. Analysis of the images, of the spectra of the nebula and of the central star confirm the PN nature of TBG-1, located at the distance of about 1 kpc. Abstract: The PHENIX experiment has performed a systematic study of identified charged-hadron ($\pi^\pm$, $K^\pm$, $p$, $\bar{p}$) production at midrapidity in $p$$+$Al, $^3$He$+$Au, Cu$+$Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{_{NN}}}=200$ GeV and U$+$U collisions at $\sqrt{s_{_{NN}}}=193$ GeV. Identified charged-hadron invariant transverse-momentum ($p_T$) and transverse-mass ($m_T$) spectra are presented and interpreted in terms of radially expanding thermalized systems. The particle ratios of $K/\pi$ and $p/\pi$ have been measured in different centrality ranges of large (Cu$+$Au, U$+$U) and small ($p$$+$Al, $^3$He$+$Au) collision systems. The values of $K/\pi$ ratios measured in all considered collision systems were found to be consistent with those measured in $p$$+$$p$ collisions. However the values of $p/\pi$ ratios measured in large collision systems reach the values of $\approx0.6$, which is $\approx2$ times larger than in $p$$+$$p$ collisions. These results can be qualitatively understood in terms of the baryon enhancement expected from hadronization by recombination. Identified charged-hadron nuclear-modification factors ($R_{AB}$) are also presented. Enhancement of proton $R_{AB}$ values over meson $R_{AB}$ values was observed in central $^3$He$+$Au, Cu$+$Au, and U$+$U collisions. The proton $R_{AB}$ values measured in $p$$+$Al collision system were found to be consistent with $R_{AB}$ values of $\phi$, $\pi^\pm$, $K^\pm$, and $\pi^0$ mesons, which may indicate that the size of the system produced in $p$$+$Al collisions is too small for recombination to cause a noticeable increase in proton production., Comment: 480 authors from 78 institutions, 18 pages, 6 tables, 16 figures. v2 is version accepted for publication in Physical Review C. 23. Validation of the thermo-chemical approach to modelling of the CO$_2$ conversion in atmospheric pressure microwave gas discharges

Abstract: The 2.45 GHz plasma torch CO$_2\to$ CO + $\frac12$O$_2$ conversion experiment [F A D"Isa et al. Plasma Sources Sci. Technol., vol. 29 (2020) 105009] has been compared with thermo-chemical calculations. The 1.5D model of the CO$_2$/CO/O$_2$/O/C mixture without turbulent transport has been used with plasma acting only as prescribed heat source. The parameter range covered is specific energy input SEI=0.3..5 eV/molecule at pressure $p$=0.9 bar, and SEI=0.6..2 eV/molecule at $p$=0.5, 0.2 bar. The calculated conversion rates $\chi$ are always in good agreement with experiment. At the same time, the calculated temperatures $T$ may deviate significantly from the experiment, especially for $p$=0.2 bar. The calculated $T$ were found to be sensitive with respect to uncertain model parameters, but $\chi$ are not sensitive. The model indicates that the conversion process is essentially two-dimensional and that the main factor which reduces the energy efficiency is re-oxidation of CO downstream from the plasma region. The proposed physico-chemical model (chemical mechanism plus transport coefficients) can be suggested for practical calculations for $p\geq$0.5 bar.

Abstract: Casimir torque -- a rotational motion caused by the minimization of the zero-point energy -- is a problem that attracts significant theoretical and experimental interest. Recently, it has been realized using liquid crystal phases and natural anisotropic substrates. However, for natural materials, the torque reaches substantial values only at van der Waals distances of ~10 nm. Here, we employ Casimir self-assembly using templated gold nanostructures of triangular symmetry for the purpose of rotational self-alignment at truly Casimir distances (100 -- 200 nm separation). The joint action of repulsive electrostatic and attractive Casimir potentials leads to the formation of a stable quantum trap, giving rise to a tunable Fabry-Perot microcavity. This cavity self aligns both laterally and rotationally to maximize the overlap area between the templated and floating triangular flakes. The rotational self-alignment is remarkably sensitive to the equilibrium distance between the two triangles as well as their area, which opens possibilities for active control through manipulating the electrostatic screening. Our self-assembled and self-aligned Casimir microcavities could find future use as a versatile and tunable platform for nanophotonic, polaritonic, and optomechanical applications., Comment: 26 pages, 13 figures

Abstract: Optical circular polarization observations can directly test the particle composition in black holes jets. Here we report on the first observations of the BL Lac type object S4 0954+65 in high linear polarized states. While no circular polarization was detected, we were able to place upper limits of <0.5% at the 99.7% confidence. Using a simple model and our novel optical circular polarization observations we can constrain the allowed parameter space for the magnetic field strength and composition of the emitting particles. Our results favor models that require magnetic field strengths of only a few Gauss and models where the jet composition is dominated by electron-positron pairs. Abstract: Multifunctional coatings are central for information, biomedical, transportation and energy technologies. These coatings must possess hard-to-attain properties and be scalable, adaptable, and sustainable, which makes layer-by-layer assembly (LBL) of nanomaterials uniquely suitable for these technologies. What remains largely unexplored is that LBL enables computational methodologies for structural design of these composites. Utilizing silver nanowires (NWs), we develop and validate a graph theoretical (GT) description of their LBL composites. GT successfully describes the multilayer structure with nonrandom disorder and enables simultaneous rapid assessment of several properties of electrical conductivity, electromagnetic transparency, and anisotropy. GT models for property assessment can be rapidly validated due to (1) quasi-2D confinement of NWs and (2) accurate microscopy data for stochastic organization of the NW networks. We finally show that spray-assisted LBL offers direct translation of the GT-based design of composite coatings to additive, scalable manufacturing of drone wings with straightforward extensions to other technologies.

Abstract: The electronic spectra of light one-electron quasi-molecular compounds H-H$^+$, He$^+$-He$^2+$ and He$^+$-H$^+$ are analyzed. To this end, the two-center Dirac equation is solved by the dual-kinetically balanced finite-basis-set method for axially symmetric systems termed as A-DKB. This method allows a complete relativistic consideration of these systems at fixed internuclear distances. A comparison of the obtained results with the nonrelativistic and relativistic calculations presented in the literature is performed. The advantages and disadvantages of the approach are discussed in details.

34. Self-hybridized vibrational-Mie polaritons in water droplets

Abstract: We study the self-hybridization between Mie modes supported by water droplets with stretching and bending vibrations in water molecules. Droplets with radii $>2.7~\mu m$ are found to be polaritonic on the onset of the ultrastrong light-matter coupling regime. Similarly, the effect is observed in larger deuterated water droplets at lower frequencies. Our results indicate that polaritonic states are ubiquitous in nature and occur in water droplets in mists, fogs, and clouds. Abstract: Introducing quasiparticle anisotropy in graphene via uniaxial strain has a profound effect on the polarization charge density induced by external impurities, both Coulomb and short-range. In particular, the charge distribution induced by a Coulomb impurity exhibits a power law tail modulated by a strain-dependent admixture of angular harmonics. The appearance of distributed charge is in sharp contrast to the response in pristine/isotropic graphene, where for subcritical impurities the polarization charge is fully localized at the impurity position. It is also interesting to note that our results are obtained strictly at zero chemical potential, and the behavior is distinct from the familiar Friedel oscillations observed at finite chemical potential. We find that over a wide range of strain, the $d$-wave symmetry is dominant. Abstract: Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb) causes 1.6 million deaths annually. Active tuberculosis correlates with a neutrophil-driven type I interferon (IFN) signature, but the cellular mechanisms underlying tuberculosis pathogenesis remain poorly understood. We found that interstitial macrophages (IMs) and plasmacytoid dendritic cells (pDCs) are dominant producers of type I IFN during Mtb infection in mice and non-human primates, and pDCs localize near human Mtb granulomas. Depletion of pDCs reduces Mtb burdens, implicating pDCs in tuberculosis pathogenesis. During IFN-driven disease, we observe abundant DNA-containing neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) described to activate pDCs. Cell-type-specific disruption of the type I IFN receptor suggests that IFNs act on IMs to inhibit Mtb control. Single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) indicates that type I IFN-responsive cells are defective in their response to IFNγ, a cytokine critical for Mtb control. We propose that pDC-derived type I IFNs act on IMs to permit bacterial replication, driving further neutrophil recruitment and active tuberculosis disease.

Abstract: The article is devoted to the foreign policy views of Prince Vladimir P. Meshchersky (1839–1914), a famous Russian conservative political writer. Three articles by Meshchersky are introduced into scientific circulation. They were published on the eve of the First World War in the Vienna newspaper Neue Freie Presse and aimed at changing public opinion in Austria-Hungary regarding the foreign policy of the Russian emperor. Wishing to prevent the impending military conflict with Germany and Austria-Hungary, the prince sought to convince readers of the influential Vienna newspaper of the indifference of a significant part of Russian society to the Balkan issue, the absence of Germanophobia among most representatives of the Russian elite, and peacefulness of the tsar and the Russian Foreign Ministry. Laying the main blame for the aggravation of Russo-German relations on the nationalist-minded press, which formed the public opinion of European countries, as well as on the adventurism of Balkan politicians, Meshchersky called on Vienna and Berlin to be reasonable, convincing them that an alliance between Russia, Germany, Austria-Hungary and Turkey should be the guarantor of European peace and the pacification of the Balkans. It is shown that the series of articles by Meshchersky, published in German a few months before the outbreak of World War I, largely coincided with the theses of the famous P. Durnovo Memorandum as well as with the views of a significant part of the Russian right-wingers of the early 20th century who opposed the aggravation of relations with Germany and Austria-Hungary over the Balkan issue and preferred good-neighborly relations with these countries. Meshchersky’s articles are also of undoubted interest as one of the latest attempts by the Russian conservative camp to change the foreign policy course taken by St Petersburg, Berlin, and Vienna. Meshchersky’s publications in the Austrian press are interesting for many valuable observations and are a vivid illustration of the pre-war sentiments of the part of Russian society that made desperate attempts to prevent Russia from being drawn into conflict with continental European monarchies on the eve of the war.

Abstract: Introduction. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic in the Russian Federation, comprehensive response measures were taken. One of these measures was the development of a viral genome aggregation platform (VGARus) to monitor virus variability. The aim of this paper is to describe the role of the VGARus platform in tracking genetic variation in SARS-CoV-2. Materials and methods. VGARus utilizes sequencing data and bioinformatics tools to monitor genetic variations in SARS-CoV-2. The viral genomes were aligned using NextClade, which also translated them into amino acids and identified mutations. The viral variability over time was analyzed by counting the number of amino acid changes compared to the reference sequence. Results. The analysis of data within VGARus enabled the identification of new virus variants, contributing to improved diagnostic tests and vaccine development. The platform allowed for the prediction of epidemiologic trends, facilitating a rapid response to changes in the epidemiologic situation. For example, using VGARus, an increase in COVID-19 incidence was accurately predicted in the summer of 2022 and early 2023, which were associated with the emergence of Omicron subvariants BA.5 and XBB. Data from the platform helps validate the effectiveness of primers and DNA probes to ensure high diagnostic accuracy and reduce the risk of false negatives. Conclusion. VGARus demonstrates the growing role of genomic surveillance in combating COVID-19 and improving preparedness for future infectious disease outbreaks. The platform is a powerful tool for generating evidence-based solutions to combat a pandemic and mitigate its health, economic and societal impacts. It provides the ability to promptly obtain information on the epidemiologic situation in a particular region of the Russian Federation, use genomic data for phylogenetic analysis, compare the mutational spectrum of SARS-CoV-2 sequences with foreign samples. VGARus data allow for both retrospective analysis and predictive hypotheses. For example, we can clearly see the dynamics of the change of different virus variants: sequences belonging to the Alpha, Beta, Delta, Omicron lineages and many less common ones, clearly form the upsurges of morbidity, the interaction of which is reflected in the epidemiological picture. It is also currently being expanded to monitor other pathogens, increasing its public health relevance.

Abstract: The incidence of extended ureteral strictures has been on the rise in the past decade. This increase is attributed to the growing number of endoscopic surgeries, expanded criteria for surgical treatment of cancer patients, and complications from radiation therapy. When correcting an extended ureteral stricture, if there is a lack of urinary system tissues to replace the defect or if they are involved in the pathological process, replacement reconstruction using a segment of small or large intestine becomes necessary. Options for ureteral reconstructions using ileum and colon sections were discussed, as well as the use of the appendix as a graft. Data on the effectiveness and frequency of postoperative complications were analysed, and the pros and cons of different surgical techniques for ureteroplasty were evaluated. It is necessary to conduct further scientific and practical research and evaluation of long-term results to solve the remaining unclear problems and to inform the doctors of our country about the existence of this pathology.

40. Comparison of the results of active surgical treatment and serial stenting for urolithiasis in pregnant women

Abstract: Introduction. Renal colic during pregnancy is a common cause of pain in the lower back. Currently, with a diagnosed kidney or ureter stone, the standard treatment is serial drainage of the urine tract using an internal ureter stent, with replacement of the drainage before delivery, followed by surgery to remove the stone after delivery.Objective. To study the effectiveness and safety of ureteroscopic interventions in the treatment of urolithiasis in pregnant women in comparison with the method of serial drainage of the upper urinary tract during gestation followed by surgical treatment of urolithiasis 4 weeks after delivery.Materials & methods. The study group consisted of 119 patients with a confirmed diagnosis of urolothiasis using instrumental diagnostic methods and a gestational age up to and including the 27th week. Two groups were formed based on treatment approaches for urolithiasis: group 1 included 59 patients (49.6%) who underwent surgical removal of the stone; group 2 included 60 patients (50.4%) who underwent internal ureteral stent replacement every 4 – 6 weeks prior to delivery and subsequent ureteroscopy There were no significant differences in age, body mass index, or number of pregnancies between the two groups.Results. The frequency of complete stone removal in groups 1 and 2 was 96.6 and 96.7%, respectively. The median amount of time spent on urolithiasis treatment in groups 1 and 2 was 60 [45; 72] and 97 [54; 105] minutes, respectively (p = 0.002). Migration of the ureteral stent in group 2 was observed in 13.3% of cases (p = 0.05). Among group 1 patients who underwent ureteroscopic intervention aimed at stone removal, the incidence of internal drainage dislocation was 3.4%. Encrustation of the ureteral stent in groups 1 and 2 was observed among 2 (3.4%) and 17 (28.3%) patients, respectively (p < 0.001). The bed-day (median time in days spent in hospital for drainage replacement and time of surgical treatment of urolithiasis) in groups 1 and 2 was four and eight days, respectively (p < 0.05). The frequency of natural childbirth in groups 1 and 2 was 81.35% and 55.0%, respectively (p = 0.002).Conclusion. Urolithiasis among pregnant women is a complex multifactorial disease that affects not only the health of the mother, but also the condition of the developing foetus. It is possible to perform surgical treatment with high efficiency and low complication rate, which improves the quality of life.

Abstract: Introduction. Circumcision is one of the most common surgical procedures for men. WHO programs aimed at reducing HIV transmission have led to the development of various circumcision devices designed to standardize surgical techniques, reduce operating time and the number of complications.Objective. To examine available data on the efficacy and safety of different methods of device-based circumcision.Materials & methods. The results of a search in scientific databases such as eLibrary and PubMed were analyzed using the keywords: "circumcision", "circumcision device", and "phimosis". The search was conducted without regard to date or language of publication. After reviewing the literature, 25 articles were selected that best reflect the topic of device-assisted circumcision for further analysis.Results. Device-based circumcision can significantly reduce surgical time, regardless of the type of device used. Device-based circumcision is the safe treatment method; however, it may have a higher incidence of adverse events compared to the standard circumcision technique. The use of self-suturing devices is preferred over ring devices due to fewer complications, better cosmetic results, and greater patient satisfaction. The article is supplemented with a description of the surgical technique of various options for device-based circumcision.Conclusion. Device-based circumcision is effective and safe treatment method on an outpatient basis, which successfully competes with conventional circumcision of the foreskin.

42. Oral donor site evaluation in the early and late postoperative periods for augmentation and replacement urethroplasty

Abstract: Introduction. The use of oral mucosa in augmentation and replacement urethroplasty is the gold standard for several reasons. Most commonly, the mucous membrane of the cheek, the underside of the tongue or lip is employed. Assessing postoperative complications in the donor area is crucial as it impacts patients' quality of life.Objective. To evaluate early and late postoperative changes in the donor area after oral graft extraction for urethroplastyMaterials & methods. A retrospective analysis of the results of surgical treatment using oral mucosa from 2017 to 2022 was carried out. The study included 65 patients. The intensity of pain syndrome in the graft sampling area was assessed by patients on a visual analog scale (VAS). The donor area was sutured only in the case of tongue and lip mucosa sampling.Results. The mucous membrane of the oral cavity was harvested from different sites in 65 patients. Specifically, it was taken from the inside of the cheek in 49 patients (75.38%), from both inner sides of the cheeks in 13 (20.0%), the lower lip in two (3.07%) and the lower surface of the tongue in one (1.54%) patient, respectively. On the first day after surgery, the median pain level according to VAS was 4 points (range: 2 – 7), at the time of discharge — 3 points (1 – 6). After 120 days, a follow-up examination showed a regression of pain symptoms: the median was 0 points (0–1). In the late postoperative period, incomplete opening of the mouth was recorded in two patients (3.07%), cosmetic defect in the donor area in two (3.07%), discomfort during meals in six (9.23%), impaired sensitivity in the donor area in two (3.07%), exacerbation of chronic stomatitis and hypersalivation in two (3.07%) patients, respectively.Conclusion. The incidence of complications in the donor area is low, but for some patients this can result in a reduced quality of life. Using proper technique when extracting oral mucosa grafts reduces pain and the likelihood of early- and late-stage postoperative complications in this area.

Abstract: VR-based technologies are in demand in modern education. They create virtual environment and simulate processes similar to real ones. As a result, students can practice actions that form and consolidate the necessary competencies. This article describes the possibilities of using virtual reality to teach food-industry university students to design production sites, e.g., an independent virtual simulation where students could work on their own projects and developments. The proposed technology offers an improved import-substituting software that creates realistic models of food production, e.g., virtual food processing workshops where students could test and improve their skills in dealing with key parameters and technological processes. The program recreates technological solutions in virtual reality, which simplifies, speeds up, and reduces the cost of developing skills in production site design. This application is the most promising direction for VR technology in education. The software product was developed in the VR laboratory of Kemerovo State University. It allows students to design industrial buildings of various sizes, workshops, and production facilities of various capacities, as well as public catering places and their interior, open public spaces, e.g., city parks, etc. The product has a database for storing and using education materials, design blanks, and ready-made 3D models of equipment created in Unreal Engine. The 3D model database contains digital models of real-life devices and equipment used at food industry enterprises. The projects can be displayed in a visual digital environment to study the principles of equipment operation, monitor and change their parameters, and simulate faults and deviations. The database makes it possible to design small enterprises and large industrial complexes for food production in virtual environment.

The review part covered the best practices for improving the personnel management efficiency. The article describes the early personnel improvement projects, the impact of artificial intelligence and machine learning on the automation of employee activities, the informal connections in sustainable corporate culture, the current demands of Russian business for better performance, etc. Russian companies are facing global challenges, e.g., increasing their automation while retaining and retraining experienced employees. Employers have to reduce the risks of staff outflow by investing in the internal corporate processes.

Abstract: The rigorous two-center approach based on the dual-kinetically balanced finite-basis-set expansion is applied to one-electron, heteronuclear diatomic Bi-Au, U-Pb, and Cf-U quasimolecules. The obtained $1\sigma$ ground-state energies are compared with previous calculations, when possible. Upon analysis of three different placements of the coordinate system's origin in the monopole approximation of the two-center potential: (1) in the middle, between the nuclei, (2) in the center of the heavy nucleus, and (3) in the center of the light nucleus, a substantial difference between the results is found. The leading contributions of one-electron quantum electrodynamics (self-energy and vacuum polarization) are evaluated within the monopole approximation as well.

Abstract: Large-scale low-background detectors are increasingly used in rare-event searches as experimental collaborations push for enhanced sensitivity. However, building such detectors, in practice, creates an abundance of radioassay data especially during the conceptual phase of an experiment when hundreds of materials are screened for radiopurity. A tool is needed to manage and make use of the radioassay screening data to quantitatively assess detector design options. We have developed a Materials Database Application for the nEXO experiment to serve this purpose. This paper describes this database, explains how it functions, and discusses how it streamlines the design of the experiment.
