The flight trial of the unmanned experimental airplane was conducted by Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) in order to substantiate supersonic drag reduction technology with a CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics)-based optimum aerodynamic design procedure and to establish the experimental system with the non-powered and unmanned supersonic experimental airplane (NEXST-1: National EXperimental Supersonic Transport-1). The airplane configuration was designed using the inverse method giving the preferable pressure distribution to minimize the aerodynamic drag force at Mach Number two. On October 10, 2005, the second trial of the NEXST-1 was conducted in Woomera test range of South Australia. Every system had accomplished each work successfully and the NEXST-1 including a data recorder was recovered safely. This report shows the modification of the experimental airplane system after the first trial and the results of the second trial., 宇宙航空研究開発機構・航空プログラムグループが研究を進めている超音速機技術の飛行実証として、2005年10月に南オーストラリア州ウーメラ実験場において小型超音速実験機(NEXST-1: National EXperimental Supersonic Transport-1)の第2回飛行実験を実施した。小型超音速実験機プロジェクトの主要な目的は、次世代SST(SuperSonic Transport)開発を睨んだ最適空力設計技術の開発とその飛行実験による実証である。2002年7月に実施した第1回飛行実験の失敗を受け、改修設計・製造および各種地上試験を行った上、第2回飛行実験に臨んだ。本報告書では、第1回飛行実験以降の小型超音速実験機システムの改修設計・開発および改修設計の妥当性検証内容を概説すると共に、第2回飛行実験の結果について飛行実証項目を中心に報告する。, JAXA Research and Development Report, 宇宙航空研究開発機構研究開発報告

A lidar is an active optical sensor that observes atmospheric conditions by projecting laser beams into the atmosphere to measure reflected light. NASDA has started to develop a lidar unit that can be placed aboard satellites and the results of flight observation experiments using the airborne Mie-scattering lidar were reviewed. A photon counting Si-APD (Avalanche Photo Diode) was equipped as a detector that had a higher sensitivity than a photomultiplier tube. The airborne observations were made five times in November 1997. The experiments showed that the photon-counting lidar unit performed almost as designed. The analog lidar unit also performed well, but its detector sensitivity was low. There were problems with its response characteristics when strong reflected light was received., ライダは、レーザビームを大気に照射して反射光を計測することによって、大気状態を観測する能動型光学センサである。NASDAは、衛星搭載可能なライダユニットの開発に着手し、航空機用ミー散乱ライダを用いた観測飛翔実験結果について検証した。光子計数型シリコンAPD(アバランシェ・フォトダイオード)を検出器として用いた。これは高感度の光電子増倍管である。航空機観測を1997年11月に5回行った。光子計数型ライダユニットはほぼ設計通りの性能を持つことを実験によって示した。アナログライダユニットの性能も良好であったが、検出器の感度は低かった。この検出器は、強い反射光が入射した時の感度特性に問題があった。
